What adjustments can I make? Is there a better kernal? Is it the kernal causing this or the rom?
It's an issue that will be addressed in the next Glitch kernel. Wait for it.
But can I switch to another kernel in the meantime that would fix it?

Currently I'm using eugenes A12 cuz it seems to lockup the least. I've tried A12-A14 as well as the A_Overkill and they all have problems. Any recommended kernels or settings? Haven't tried the new 1.20ghz kernal yet. Running Axura 2.0.5 btw with JFS Overkill.

Hey folks. I' ve been sitting on the fence trying to decide about flashing my phone with NeroV3. The question I have is does it make all that difference? Is the phone noticeably faster? What are changes? Any feedback in this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just the change from the RFS filesystem to EXT4 with voodoo is significantly faster
Just be careful when you flash a overclocked kernel, most vibrants will freeze.
Be sure you know how to disable vodoo and odin back to stock.
The JL5 Leak from Samsung is faster without any other fixes.
I'm coming from stock. The only real thing I have is root with root apps. Ive already removed OCLF. I recently updated the wifes phone with NAND Desire Sense from windows 6.5 on her HD2, other than that I have no experience. Is the move really worth it? What's different? Internet experience? You guys are awesome!

I am using neriv3twe/with voodoo and im very happy with it only downfall I've found is you can't buy apparently off the market....keep getting a "server error occurred" window...but other than that I love it

Correction on my last post Nerov3TWEwith voodoo

The buy error is not the rom. It has been working perfectly for me, zero issues. Additionally, froyo offers better gps performance over j 16 with its modems and many other performance enhancements. The voice recognition seems to be working better and jit compiling offers a slight increase in performance over eclair.
if it will be your first time flashing you can try without voodoo because custom roms itself will blow you away.

Blow me away? Nice! With voodoo, wouldn't I still want that or is the lag "fixed" with the Nero ROM. Also, does any of this conflict with the media hub?

Yes if you do flash a custom rom you will really notice a big difference in performance speed. Nero Rom have a built in voodoo you just have to enable it.
Does the Nero conflict with media hub? Also, I assume it has flash 2.2.? Is the only difference that Nero provides is speed? What is different for the UI? I could really do without touchwiz. You guys are awesome! Thanks!

Nero V3 installed and running great! Does not conflict with media hub!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
nerov4.1 is out
If u don't want to do voodoo or one click lag fix, u could always just flash the super io kernal from eugene. Its not as fast at ext2 or voodoo but its a good alternative

Stock JL5 is what I would recommend. If you do not like the touchwiz launcher you can replace it with a barrage of different launchers from the market.
I'm on the Community Rom V1.3 (flashed v1.2 kernel) and am having problems with my music quality. Any time I run anything while listening to music (via Pandora or my music app) the quality is poor. The music "skips" or has a "staticy".
Is anyone else having this problem?

Are you using the voodoo sound app from the market? If you couple that with the galaxy s tuner app you can do quite a bit for quality & volume. I haven't had anything like what you're getting though but I'm on the otb1.4 kernel.

No, I'm not using the voodoo sound app. However, I don't believe that is what was causing the problem. I believe my problem was related to CWM 3.0... so I flashed back to stock, flashed CWM version 2.5... and flashed the community rom v1.3. I'm waiting for my phone to reboot before checking to see if the problem is still there.

You're not referring to a "popping" sound, are you? If you are, then it's a known issue on Voodoo Kernel Version 8.

It's a similar sound to what you may have experience when downloading a bad Napster file back in the day. Or when listening to a poor vinyl record that is scratched a bit. I'll report back either way once I've restored.
The problem is still there. I'm surprised nobody else is having this issue as I've searched everywhere to no avail.
Thank you for taking the time to help.
As said above it is a voodoo sound v8 problem. It is mostly in regards to touch input we think, so if you sony use your phone while listening it's fine.
Or you can find an older kernel that doesn't implement v8 and enjoy the flawless glory of un glitch-y voodoo sound.

Thank you, Huntredgo. Perhaps you have a good kernel recommendation that I can flash over Community v1.3?
I attempted to flash imnuts' stock kernel (via Odin) over community v1.3 and I received the "permasung" when trying to reboot. Still trying to find a kernel that will solve the issue.

Do this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13644624&postcount=14
If you don't know it -> small latency errors caused higher frequency crackles, larger latency errors caused lower frequency pops.

The problem persists. I changed my input to bfq and can still hear the popping sound. Especially when I'm touching the screen in any manner.
I also tried older kernels.
Any other suggestions?

Basically if I'm listening to music with headphone and I get a notification the music volume doesn't go to its original level, I have to press the audio down button for it to go back to what it was.
I'm using a CM9 Nightly (07-05-2012) with Siyah kernel 3.2RC1 also happened on precisois versions of CM9 and on stock kernel.
Anyone else with this issue? Is it ROM related? It cant be a modem issue? Suggestions much appreciated.

Yup it's rom related. It is known bug for CM9 and AOKP ROM.
ROM related, posted billions of times. Use PowerAMP as a temporary fix.

Why does poweamp fix it? Cyanogen had a similar issue before where the the app didn't take back audio control or something. Isn't this just the same idea?

My friend has a weird problem on his SGS3 after I rooted it for him. I've tried installing AOKP and CarbonRom but the issue exists on both.
Whenever I open an app-picker list (ie when adding a widget or app to desktop) I get vertical screen tearing when scrolling. The tearing is pretty inconsistent because it doesn't happen all the time but in random intervals.
I've tried enabling and disabling vsync by editing build.prop but it didn't help. I've also enabled/disabled all the rendering related stuff in developer settings but nothing works.
There was no such issue in stock ROM. I've never had screen tearing problems even though I've rooted over ten different Android phones and tablets.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the issue?

Its a known issue in aosp and aokp ROMs. Install the latest temasek as it is patched to reduce the amount of tearing

Is the patch in the Temasek ROM or the kernel? I would like to keep the Linaro optimized CarbonRom and just flash the kernel if it works that way.
Holy crap... People are still worried about Linaro? You know its been proven to have no advantage over Google's tool chains. So don't worry about it.

Proven by who? Where? When? Interesting!
In Nexus 4 the difference between Linaro and Google toolchain is so obvious that Linaro dominates custom ROMs. I didn't see such a big difference in SGS3 so maybe I could go with Temasek. Tough the previous question is still unanswered: is the patch in the kernel or the ROM?

Well there are linaro tool chains for apps and kernels. Neither do much.
