Htc sense on samsung vibrant

Does anyone know if somwong is working on this or is it already out their?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
i was wondering the same thing the other day. plenty of 2.1 sense phones/roms out there with specs similar to ours so Im kind of surprised there is not much talk about it.
maybe they want to get a normal 2.2 rom working first? but with all the 2.1 sense roms for other phones, it may be easier then 2.2? Im not a dev so i dont know, but just wondering too
Wrong section. This belongs in Q&A. And no, there is currently not a way to put htc sense on the vibrant.

The main reason is the license, it is only licensed for HTC and HTC Licensed devices, so it would be considered "Warez" to put it on a non licensed device, I am sure it could be done, but you will not find it in a public forum such as this ...
I would say just wait until CM6 gets ported. once we get a hold of the required drivers and stuff it should just be a matter of time before a desire port is made
I'm using this. No HTC Widgets but hey its better than nothing.

Double posting, or posting the same question all over the place , I doubt is gonna change the answer ...
Like the ones you got here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770783
1.) Sense is owned by HTC not licensed for other devices, so would be not just a grey area but just plain Illegal, for a dev to port it to the Vibrant.
2.) IF and When someone does it, you may not find it here because XDA frowns on blatant copyright infringement.
3.) MAYBE when we have CM or a True Froyo ROM for Vibrant, maybe someone would hack it on there, but again you may not find it here.
4.) Just because you don't like the answers is no reason to ignore the answers.
I should report this as a double post, but I'll let someone else do it, feeling generous.

Just because there are, does not make them legal, the legality was my point, as just doing the OS is one thing, swiping copyrighted apps is another story ...

"Why do I care?", that really is a silly question to ask on a primarily user supported forum, if users do not care , then what is the point?

And for the record you did not ask "Do people want sense on their vibrant", you asked where to find info on it being able to be put on the vibrant or if anyone had done it. So get an attitude if you want, I have been around XDA long enough not to care about the attitudes that much .... ....

[Q] Translation Needed - Atrix ICS MIUI Sighted?!?!

A dev just posted a link to his new moto based app called motomizer from another forum, so I was looking around and there's clickable link called atrix rom board. It takes you to some miui ics rom, another is called a turtle rom, and another is called the art rom and another called PR beta5 sitting Among the normal darkside and other known xda roms. I tried dling the ics miui rom but it seems it wants you to join. So my question is anybody know who can assist in translating? I've love to try this out on my phone!

Plenty of new roms, looks like they have had miui for quite a while now
i also found http://miniray.net/
And the site isn't Chinese, its Korean
You can download miui from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383721
it was ported by magiman7 and Stevendeb25, and based on cm7 if i'm not mistaken.

[Q] Blackberry playbook android porting

Blackberry playbook price have been downsized by 50% so its a great buy only if android porting can be done, can any of our port android for it...... it would be great........
If you're asking if Android applications can be ported to the BlackBerry Playbook, then the answer is yes.
Research in Motion recently released OS 2.0 which allows for Android emulation on the Playbook. I believe it emulates Android 2.3.3. Using their freely available tools, you can convert your application apk to their bar format and it will function correctly on the Playbook.
However, there are some limitations to what Android abilities you can port. For example I heard you cannot port applications with ads. I believe there is a list of cans and cannots you can perform on OS 2.0.
I hope this answered your question.
Yes you can port android apps very easily using rims online tools, I did so myself to win a playbook. You can't use admob ads in your apps but I think other ad providers are supported just not google.
When you use their online tools they will tell you if your apps are compatible.

How to choose the right ROM to port to the Desire X

OK, since I'm still very new to things Android, but love to experiment ... I was thinking of trying my hand at porting a ROM to our phone.
BUT, how do you choose the right place to start ?
What device out there is closest to the Desire X, hardware wise, to use ? I've seen people here using the One V, but what about the Desire V for example ?
What things do I have to look for before picking a rom to port to the Desire X ?
Maybe this should be in the Q&A section, I don't know.

If people here knew that much, we would have lots more ports then the single rom we currently have. Android Manual is the only person who has done it yet. I say, your best bet is to google around as it would help you more. If you wanna build aosp roms (cm9/aokp etc) then i can help you, otherwise i cant. Lloir has a github device/vendor/hardware tree and rest of manifest you can copy from github.com/cyanogenmod and start building.
Good luck.

Ok, sorry I posted here, mods can delete/move this thread and slap me for me trying to help development lol .. I have googled this a lot before actually and what I understand is you need a device that is similar enough, hardware wise, to the one you're porting to to avoid problems. I'm sure someone with more experience than me thought about this and knows more.
Would be awesome if I had a rom to start from, instead of trying to build from scratch, even llior couldn't do it, although he didn't have a Desire X.
BTW, did you try the debloated 1.18 I posted that you wanted to know more about ?

It isn't that lloir cannot do it. He can and he is doing it. If you visit his github page you'll see he is actively fixing device tree for proto, meaning that a number of aosp Roms are just around the corner. Just have patience. As soon as first aosp comes alive, I promise aokp/cm9 for us. Got zero experience in sense porting that's why I'm not of much use now.

Yea, you probably have the most experience of us here building from scratch (I looked at your profile) ... LLoir said it before, he's too busy to debug his initial device and vendor trees and he doesn't have a Desire X, which is why other people have taken over (sometimes without permission). Trust me, android manual, stereo, maarten and me have been on the DX forum since it started and have been following up on stuff :cyclops:
But, back to topic : when porting, I understand you need a rom from the same manufacturer and with the same resolution (800x480, 233 dpi). What about the cpu though ? The One V which is 800x480 and 250dpi (because the screen size is slightly smaller) and is single core, our phone is dual core. Also, nobody found a way to S-Off the Desire X yet.
Considering all that, all I wanted to know is what ROM for what device out there would be the "easiest" to try and port to the DX ?
thanks btw for helping, much appreciated :good:

See i got no experience porting stuff coz its a mixed bag of hit n trial with no sure way of success. Dont get me wrong, i LOVE sense to bits, but porting is a thing which i tried n tried and gave up eventually.
Basically, you need to follow a simple guide (like one from proxuser, google it) and replace the necessary files. Most important is device resolution so u dont have to resize everything. CPU wont bother you much as you replace most of the vendor n hardware libs.
Once you get to boot animation, you're halfway there. Then its just logcat, and fixing the error lines by replacing stuff you guess will fix it. But getting to bootanimation loop is the hardest part.
I suggest you port from one v coz no other mainstream device has Qcom S4 PLAY . so dont worry about cpu. As for aosp build, i'm setting up my manifests as lloir has permitted me to use the trees.

Dont put ear to useless remarks. please do continue your work at github as no other person is interested in DX yet. This device isnt attracting much attention, i wonder why. The community isnt hostile, device specs are better than most midrangers. Anyways, im upgrading to mint 14 and then will resetup build envirnmt.

[Q] Untouched Stock JB 4.1.2 XWLS8 zip version?

Hello guys, I was wondering if there is a available clean untouched stock JB 4.1.2 XWLS8 rom in zip format?
What i mean by zip is the file that can be placed on the sd card and flashed directly via CWM recovery?
I am not very comfortable with using PC Odin, and would prefer to install the rom from the phone. If one is available can someone provide link, if not then can our developers kindly make one. Thanks
yes there is. Plz search in the development section

There is only "too many" because you're been lazy and not trying to use search. Rule #1 of XDA rules is that you should use search before creating topics etc.
I'm not going to link you directly to rom because you wont learn nothing but if for example you had thought about using search you could have put xwls8 as keyword, set it to search titles only and chose the Galaxy S II Original Android Development forum as your desired forum to search.
Please think about what state this forum would be in if nobody used searched and created a topic asking other people where things are it would be a complete mess and to be honest its on that way anyway so please try and use search first before creating topics.
I am not a developer, there are too many roms, and also everyone is not familiar with all the technical jargon. The whole point of q and a is to help people and direct them in the right direction according to their needs. Atleast my question isnt as silly as some of the stuff you see here.

Yes, however its not there to be spoon feed you, ie used instead of search button and expecting everybody else to do your searching for you.
Users are expected top use search first before creating topic. For the most part in 99% of cases somebody has already asked your question. In this case you could have answered it yourself within seconds by using search in way I described above.

Correct, However that is still no excuse.
Okay by providing one link it would have solved the issue, but some wise people like to prolong a simple answer. Happy days
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
The point is you can easily find this information yourself. You're obviously too lazy to do that, you also clearly feel entitled to someone else doing the 'easy thing' for you - searching for a link; do you honestly believe everyone has this info right at their fingertips ? Most don't. Most people would have to search for it. In the time you'd wait for someone who did have the link on hand without searching for it, you could find it yourself, flash the rom & be on your merry way.
This is something you're capable of doing yourself. It comes down to whether you do the 'easy thing', or whether someone else does it.
I don't see why someone else should, and I absolutely think your expectation that other people should do something so simple for you is appalling.
This isn't your carrier's forum. You haven't paid XDA any money so you have no right to expect anything of the people here.
