RILJ Dialer Cure? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running litening Rom 4.2. After upgrading to it from 4.1 and adding the app 'betterbatterystats' i observed that in the wakelocks there is app called "RILJ (dialer). This has been on top in the wakelocks list and shows running time of 18mins.
Can anyone explain what exactly it is and how can I solve the issue ?
Is anyone else here facing the issue ?

I get the same thing running stock KG6. Any suggestions?

LeoMar v2.6 KH3 here
More than 3k wakes
I don't even know what this is. SMS sync? I don't know why a Dialer would be waking the phone all the time...
EDIT: Found this info (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Wakelocks):
RILJ
http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/telephony.html
Dialer RILJ is the userland counterpart of the RIL (radio interface lib). RILJ handles whatever the phone need to tell or get from the RIL = phone, e.g. dialing but also coarse location.
But i still don't get it. Its the service that synchronizes with my GMS provider? Like for SMS, Voice messages, Calls, etc?

This issue is more related to the Maps I am kinda 99% sure. I have been on litening rom all this while where both RILJ and GTALK_SYNC were major culprit keeping my phone awake running 24mins at times. However I did read somewhere on google that the problem was situated with the Maps update. So uninstalled the Google Maps app and the issue was solved. It seems that this problem persist more with the latest version of Maps like the 5.8 or 5.9.
I shifted to Leomar Revolution 2.6 rom 2 days back which comes with older version of Maps and issue is no more.
Uninstalling the maps through titanium cannot be permanent solution, there needs to be some sought of cure for this, unless Google maps comes up with the solution.

GPS stopped locking on

My GPS worked out of the box when I got this phone last week but now it hasn't locked on all day. I am running the latest evil fascination ROM. Any advice?
Did you try wiping data, cache, and dalvik after install?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I am having the exact same issue. I NEVER get a lock anymore - even leaving it on for 30 minutes....
I have been running various ComRoms with various kernels and radios and still the same unusable GPS. I have also played with GPS Aids, GPS Status, and some other ones. I have read all the various forum posts about this issue to. Still nothing.
Would really love to know if anyone has any new advice... I too am getting really sick of it not locking on at all.... it used to just be slow, now it's useless all together.
Similar issue on a i9000 galaxy S here. Question: do you all recall if prior to the issue appearing you upgraded the version of google maps installed? Or some other app?

It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p...053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
try rebooting phone leaving gps on. you might want to look into a gps aid like gps booster. Since I have been running the powerwash rom, gps works better than ever.

Google maps street names scrambled

I've done some google searching and forum searching and can't seem to find anything on this issue although I know I've seen it before.
My google maps will load the city up fine but when I zoom in a bit all of the street names become pixelated and garbled and start to flash. Has anyone got a solution for this or a direction I can be pointed in?
Thanks
I have the same problem when using elelinux gingerbread rom, if I use the speedmachine which is android 2.2 the problem is solved, however I would like to know if I can fix it with android 2.3

i am experiencing the same issue, I am using the CM7.2 Elelinux Rom.
The only workaround I have been able to use is increasing the font size in maps and to not zoom in... but that is a pretty weak way to use GM.
Hi.
The same problem occurred to me after switching to Elelinux 7.2 (from original HTC firmware upgraded to android 2.1).
None workaround found yet.
It seems to me there's something wrong with the special icons (statue, park, road number) at the certain level of zoom.
Until they aren't on the map, everything goes fine. When I scroll or zoom the map and these icons appear, the street name font will collapse.
I've thought it's a problem with my antivirus (avast) but as I can see, you are not using any and the problem resists...
Q: Is there any symbolic font GM is using, which is missing in CM 7.2?
i got that error too. now i switched over to samm000's android 4.03. on there it's working fine again.
I always had the white squares bug in GB rom (Elelinux builds).
Google Maps on GB sucks.
It's time to switch to ICS guys ! Works faster and maps is no more bugged !
Bump - the only workaround is to go back to an older version of Google Maps. I use Google Maps 5.5 and I no longer get these white squares.

[Q] Google Maps crashing ?

An update to Google Maps was released in the last couple of days. After updating, when I open the app it crashes after a few seconds and reboots my tablet. Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
I'm on the cm9-p4wifi-20120511.zip ROM. Prior to this issue, the ROM had been completely stable for me. I wasn't planning on changing ROMs until an IC or JB ROM had a working camera, but now I'm thinking I might experiment just to get Maps working again.
Before I do that however, does anyone have any suggestions on getting Maps stable so I don't have to flash just yet?
Thank you.
Same here, Maps 6.10.0 crash few seconds after been loaded w/CM9 aug 15
You should do a wipe cache, erase data from settings >> app >> maps or probably you should change you kernel flashing a new one
I have also the same problem. Wiping cache changes nothing. I use cm9-p4-20120814.zip ROM.

Same issue here on Ganbarou CM9.

I updated to the latest CM9 nightly last night, cm-9-20120819-NIGHTLY-p4wifi, and Maps is still crashing.
6.10 is buggy. I only updated it on my Sensation and it causes reboots when I use it, and causes reboots for Rezound users as well. Guess we all have to roll back or wait for an update.
Can anyone post the previous .apk? I haven't been good about keeping Titanium Backups, I admit.
Here's version 6.9.2 - http://goo.gl/4p2O9
thank you, 6.9.2 is OK, no crash.
new google maps 6.11 = same crashes.
back to 6.9.2.
p4wifi, update Maps to 6.11.1. Same problem. The crash occurs each time I enter an area that is cached for offline use, or when I try to modify the offline settings.... or after just a few seconds. Not only the app crashes (that would report the issue to Google, which could be useful), but it directly crashes the tablet (possibly a kernel panic, I have no console so no clue).
I'm having this issue with maps crashing my Samsung tab 10.1 AOKP milestone 6 and my Sensation running cyanogen 9 and when I flashed revolutionary rom with sense. I noticed on the sensation in location settings the GPS source was not checked off (cyanogen). After I chose internal source the problem stopped. There is not this option on the tablet AOKP so it still crashes. Not sure if anyone else is seeing this issue.

Same problem here, with Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500 on latest Ganbarou ROM. Current GMaps reboots the tablet after few seconds. I looked for GPS Source setting and it's present on Ganbarou ROM. However, it is correctly checked and problem still persists. Looks more like a kernel/driver bug invoked by GMaps, putting tablet into kernel panic.
galaxy tab cm9 maps crashes
I have this issue as well. Its a version conflict. You need to install v6? Or something like that. Anyone have the link? Its somewhere on droid basement i just havent found it

[Q] Google Voice/Samsung Assistant not working on Omega v32

Here goes. I have the 4.1.1 Omega v32-XXDLJ5 ROM with Siyahkernel v1.7rc2 on my I9300.
Now the problem is, the ROM was working perfectly without any hitches, but today when I tried using Google Voice app, the voice failed to take my input and kept asking me to tap the microphone icon onscreen. I can see that it is registering the voice (with the visual representation surrounding the microphone icon), but there is no feedback. Upon checking further I found that the same issue is with Samsung's Assistant as well. It is not providing any feedback.
Unfortunately that's not the end. I also found that the dictation in messaging etc. of Google voice isn't working either. So, basically, they all are listening to my voice but not providing any reply/feedback.
Same issue had happened to me before 10 days. At that time I had felt that I might have tweaked with some setting somewhere which resulted in this issue (did a nandroid restore to resolve it). But this time around, i haven't done anything which would have caused this issue.
Can anyone help me to find the cause of this issue, and if anyone knows what/where the fault is, your help in resolving this issue will be appreciated.
I know I can reflash the rom/restore the nandroid backup, but it also means having to re-install everything/some from scratch, which is a pain. And also, those don't identify the source of the problem. And this being the 2nd time, it might very well be repeated a 3rd or more number of times.
Did you try fix permissions in CWM.
I have the CWM 3.60, but i get a notice that this ver of CWM should be used with CF-CWM v1.1 or newer, so, various options have been diabled. Maybe that's why I don't have the fix permissions option. Any idea about this?
NB: Found the option in CMR and it fixed the issue right up. Thnx a lot buddy

Getting delayed notifications

Hey guys,
I have lately installed the new UltimaRom 10.1 rom and started witnessing major delays in my notifications (mail, whatsapp, facebook, facebook messenger), and when i say major i am talking about 1.5-2 hours delay, the delays are on 3G.
If i know that i should receive something i open the program and receive it instantly.
My old rom was a a based 4.1.1 old Wanam rom, in which i didn't have any problems with the notifications.
I've tried to search all over XDA and google for the solution, the only thing partly useful was this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142503
I've downloaded and installed this app, seemed to fix the delay, but after i did a restart it started happening again :/ (and yeah i tried to hit the interval again in this app).
Also tried to reinstall the apps, didn't help.
Specificaitons:
Galaxy S3 i9300
UltimaRom v10.1 based 4.1.2 XXEMR2
Boeffla kernel
Any idea guys? this is driving me insane! I can live with a 5 mins delay, but not with 1.5 hours
P.S: If u need more info please let me know.
