[Q] Dust under screen? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was wondering if there is a gap between the glass and AMOLED for dust to get under...or is it fused like the iPhone?

The display and the digitizer is glued together in the Samoled+ , no way to get dust under the screen, phone is sealed well.

Replaced Glass -- Screen washed out

Hi,
I cracked the glass on my Galaxy SIII and managed to successfully replace it using a hot air gun.
My issue is, with the new glass (now with an air gap between it and the screen) the colours on the screen are very washed out. The contrast is crappy and the blacks look gray.
I suppose there is little I can do now, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience? I am almost wondering if there was a plastic protective coating on the replacement glass I forgot to remove, although I'd be hard pressed to check now!
Cheers

Samsung galaxy s3 digitizer and front glass

Hello, I have galaxy s3 with cracked front screen (amoled screen is not cracked) and I want to change it. I have viewed some videos about changing it and have a question about a digitizer and front glass. Example in this video http://youtu.be/6gLzEbAIGos?t=3m32s a man removes front screen (i dont know how to call it, digitizer or front glass) at 3:30 and then at 4:30 he puts a new front screen but there are no connectors on it, so how does the touch screen even works without any connectors? This man said that he bought this screen http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00932V17C/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and there's written that it is a front glass and "The LCD display and touch screen are not included". So where is the digitizer (touch screen) ??? At that video when he removed front screen there was only amoled screen left, then he put on that front screen without digitizer and touch screen worked. I am soo confused. Please explain it to me.
As I understand it the front part is simply a glass screen over the digitiser/touchscreen hence the lack of connectors, the tricky part is removing the glass from the touchscreen without damaging it, then rebonding the new glass.

But in the video when he removed that front glass without connectors there seems no digitizer left over the lcd.
The digitiser and oled screen are bonded together, the front glass is just a cover.
Don't bother with the cheap 'glass', it's usually soft plastic and useless. If you read the reviews it's clear you are buying a con.

Galaxy S3 Glass replacement

Hello. I have had a galaxy s3 with cracked glass and tried to replace it. I have seen many videos on youtube how to replace it. Basically people on these videos heat the screen and then remove the front glass easily, because the digitizer is glued to the lcd. But when I tried to remove it it came off quite easily, but only then I noticed that the digitizer was glued not to the lcd but to the front glass, so when i tried to remove front glass I accidentally broke the digitiser connector and somehow damaged the lcd. You can see photos here:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Samsung-galaxy-S-III-/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDE=/z/N0AAAOxylpNTUq5H/$_58.JPG
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Samsung-galaxy-S-III-/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDE=/z/QREAAMXQ74JTUq67/$_58.JPG (in this photo you can see that the digitizer was glued to the front glass very strongly)
I would like to ask, do you know why the digitizer could have been glued to the front glass but not to the lcd? And why the lcd could have been damaged while removing front glass??
I would really wanna know the answer myself, as I ordered one that should have reached yesterday, but as they do not work on weekends, it will be here tommorow, and I don't wanna brake my display forever, especially because mine is not that damaged.
Any ideas?
my advice don't bother with a glass replacement. I HAVE TRIED TWICE and as the op said the digitizer is glued to the front glass. this has been the case with both the original screen and two replacement lcd/digitizer/glass assemblies that i personally took apart. each time the glass was fused to the digitizer . i used a heat gun and a laser thermometer and still i failed. I was successful replacing the whole screen assembly twice . but those cost about $130 from amazon, com. These replacements may seem at first like oem but the ones i got cracked very easily. they dont use the gorilla glass and the quality is not as good. one replacement was really bad in sunlight. could not see anything. after my screen cracked a third time i got a galaxy s 5 . and started using a case and screen protector.

[Q] Need advice around replacing s3 front glass.

I've got a Galaxy S III (i9300) with a very shattered front glass. The display and digitizer works just fine though. Menu, back and home buttons too. Everything is working, i just need to replace the front glass. I've once replaced the whole front package (LCD, Glass, Digitizer) on a Galaxy S2 very successfully so i have some form of experience.
Will be my first time replacing only the front glass. Unfortunately i wont be able to put any LOCA there as i dont have any UV light. I do however some regular adhesive 2mm tape that i will put around the screen to prevent dust and stuff from coming in. Also i dont have a IR thermometer and i will be using a hair dryer. I know how hot it has to be by feeling it. I should almost not be able to hold my hands on the glass. It might take a very long time but if its possible to do it, im willing to try.
What i'm worried about is the glass shards that are in the middle of the screen. Most shards end at the edge of the screen so i can apply pressure there when im removing the shards. But the shards in the middle have all edges on the digitizer. I cannot apply any form of pressure towards the digitizer so im worried of how ill remove them. Also the left lower corner around the menu button is full with tiny shards. like 0.5mm-3mm shards. Im wondering what is the best way of removing them? BTW i still got the touch screen protection plastic on. It got bubbles now cuz of the cracks.
Here is a picture of how cracked it is. Its not exact but close enough. Paint is OP.
The black spot in bottom is where the glass is simply gone. It fell of after time. I put some tape over it to cover it up so nothing can fall in.
Any advice on how to remove these shards?
Very appreciated

[Q] Tempered Glass screen protector Front AND Back

Hi Guys,
Any one has idea about where can I buy Front AND Back Tempered Glass Protector
I am egarly waiting for it.
Thanks & Regards.:good:
i bought it from an accessories store in my country. you can buy one from amazon, ebay, etc
if it's not high quality i don't recommend it as it will cause some weird feedback from the touch panel because of the dirt, fingerprints, fluids .. etc "result from my experience with my current bad screen protector"
so i do recommend getting a high quality Tempered glass screen protector with oleophobic coating
You don't need for back only buy for front side
You can get them for like 8 to 10$
Or on aliexpress.com for 2 to 5 $
sent from either my xperia Z2 or teclast x98 air 3g using TAPALK!!!
I ordered this from aliexpress

Has anyone experience with broken tempered glass instead of the screen? I broke my screen 2 weeks after i got my z2. (It fell from about 30cm to a carpet xD) Touch didn't work anymore, cause of a little crack.
Now i am using tempered glass, and i hope it would prevent the screen from a damage
I have tried 2 different brands of glass screen protectors. Both of them interfered with my proximity sensor. So now I don't use one at all.

I had tempered glass on both back and front cause I never use any cases. I dropped my phone from about 9 Feet (From the first floor), the top right edge hit the ground and the then the it spun and landed face down. To my surprise only the tempered glass broke, So glad I invested in one.
The only damage is that the top right corner is scratched like crazy and because of the sheer force of impact the metal frame has deformed a little near the micro SD card.
Is there any such thing as a tempered screen with oleophobic coating and also covering the camera? My camera's outer glass is so damaged (there are bubbly deformations on it) that it can not focus properly sometimes.
Google Rhinoshield by evolution labs. They have tempered glass protectors for both front and back.

I need for the back cause it scratches easily because when I put down my phone then I put it on the back side of the phone. Now I use a screen protector just on the back side
