A lot of people like to put it in a case of some sort. Nokia E71 stuff is often a good fit, until we get more choice in dedicated things.
Other accessories like car holders and chargers are also popular.
I cant believe we still dont have any "official cases".
I mean this phone sells like crazy and everyday we hear about one more country releasing it o.o
An infra-red remote control for the tv. I can control media from my pc via gmote, but if I switch to the tv I have to get up and use the remote
I've got an old windows pda with infra-red, maybe I can get that hooked up somehow
The Blade has recently been hacked to enable the USB host mode of the chipset, so there are many accessories that are now possible (with the right drivers, of course).
how about an extended battery?
I want a proper dock first, what can be connected to the PC/AC supply, and makes the device into a "display" mode, landscape, news and such things, weather, and wakes you up with a special tone telling the time, weather in english, etc. Like "Good morning, [google username here]! The time is [current time]. Weather around [your city here] is [weather of your city here]."

Yes, I want an upgrade for my battery. Battery Type: "Standard battery, Li-Ion 1250 mAh" is not enough for regular use.
i think that some TPU cases will do fine with this phone, could not find any yet
A fast search on eBay and you can find alot of cases for the blade now !
I use a silicon case to protect the unit from falls and also a holder on my mountain bike and car.An Android phone has great apps for gps use its a shame to not use them.

I bought this on ebay.co.uk : Look for HIGH CAPACITY Battery Charger for Orange ZTE BLADE, I can't post links yet.
Should theoretically allow me to recharge two times the battery, and it's the perfect companion when you're on the road.
In a couple of days it should arrive, let's hope it lives up to my expectations.

It seems like the keyboard should be able to connect to the tablet via blue tooth when it's not connected to the tablet.
I wonder if there is anyway to mod it be a blue tooth keyboard?
There are times where it's nice to use the transformer as a tablet, but during that time the keyboard is totally useless.
Can the keyboard even be connected to the tablet via cable to use the battery but without having to hold up the extra bulk and such?
No, if you want a simple keyboard buy one. This dock is a dock, not simply an external keyboard. Bluetooth would just rape the battery on both and limit the functionality of it.

In one word...No
There are lots of bluetooth keyboards you can find if you want one. As they say ...it is what it is.
I still use mine as a tablet. I usually plug the charger into the dock when I'm using it as a tablet only.
You can pick up bluetooth keyboards for cheap. Doesnt hurt to have several options.

it's really diapointing to see how little thought went in to the few responses.
does this sort of lack of thought and imagination really epitomize the general population here?

so you made a thread asking if people agree with your opinion; they don't, and you call them dumb?
Also, yes, we are the epitome of the general population (...lol, wut?)
but to answer your question, the keyboard could have been a Bluetooth keyboard as well as a dock. no one is denying that. could it have been better if it were, probably. would it cost even more, most likely. would the additional cost justify the very limited uses of bluetooth-mode (uses that can't already be accomplished by the dock, in a close-range configuration) ?
nope.
so in conclusion, no.
I think the dock should have bluetooth so the keyboard could be used even when the tablet is detached. It's a shame, they didn't think of it.
@finalhit - the dock already is overpriced. I think they could easily added bluetooth without changing the price.
Get an ipad. It's probably got the most number of choices for bluetooth keyboard.
IRT the topic title: no.
Why? The Bluetooth stuff is in the tablet. To use the keyboard dock undocked via Bluetooth would be a cool feature, even if the battery drain would surge.
Versus how much that feature would increase the cost of the dock, I don't think it is a good idea: versus letting people buy a seperate Bluetooth keyboard if they need that sort of thing. My Transformer's dock is a pretty cheap piece of equipment, few moving parts if you please. The most expensive thing is probably the battery/charging stuff.
$150 extra for the dock makes a very good ROI versus just getting a standard netbook or tablet.

No, I thought about it. I just thought it was a stupid idea. I like the way the dock works now (actually, I should say my girlfriend does since she stole mine and I haven't used it in months).
Go into the hardware mod and do it yourself, I dont want to add $50 for a feature that would drain both batteries faster and I would never use. How hard is it to have the TF in the dock if you are using the dock? I dont see a need to have the TF across the room while typing on the keyboard dock.

Been hearing this since day 1, asked for someone to produce evidence (or product) of something that does the same for less, still haven't seen one example. Only bad examples of USB keyboards that don't provide the USB host control, SD card reader, stand and 6 hour battery functionality (with pass through charging).
I'm sure it is possible with enough effort to take a Bluetooth keyboard, replace the bottom with a custom module that provides mounthing for hard drive, card reader, battery, etc; or perhaps fashion a custom USB 3 hub you can rig for docking+charging.
In the end, unless you're the kind the get hackish at a work bench (I wish I had one), just using the dock when you want a keyboard, is a good idea. Much further away then docked somewhat minimizes the utility of a TOUCHSCREEN as well, unless you go bluetooth rat as well.
I think most people don't understand what we want - the dock should work as intentended when attached but switch to bluetooth when detached (could be switchable to preserve battery). There is no reason it would be in any way worse than it is now. Cost - as I said, it's already overpriced, so adding bluetooth doesn't have to increase it.
What value do you see in doing it that way? From what I can think of, I'd still opt to just pay less for the dock.
I could see the dock having bluetooth when detached beneficial when the tablet is hooked to my TV and I want to control it from my couch and the tablet is across the room hooked to the TV. Does someone make a bluetooth remote that can do this?

No, we understand. We just dont agree with either the usefulness or your judgement about them being able to do it without any cost impact.
if its that easy put it in yourself.
The whole purpose of the dock is to bring netbook like functionality and portable to the tablet. Using the dock/keyboard with bluetooth would defeat that purpose. Imagine sitting on a bus or train and trying to support the tablet and use both hands to type on the keyboard. You wouldn't be able to do it, unless you have extra arms, but as far as I know, I only have two.
Same thing with connecting the dock to the tablet with a cable. Defeats the whole portability the Transformer was made for. Portability is one of the Transformer's major selling points. And let's be honest, do you really need 16 hours of life on your tablet? Mine is off the charger from 7 am to around 11pm when I go to bed, and since I hardly use it at school, it can still have 85% battery when I plug it back in.

Again, Bluetooth defeats the whole point of the dock. The dock wasn't meant to be used detached from the tablet. If that's the case, Asus would've just installed a little touchscreen LCD where the touchpad is and let it run HC as well. That's like saying a car should be able to run on apple juice, even though they are built to run on gas -.-
You think a keyboard that gives you USB ports, an extra 9 hours of battery (?), and the ability to add another 128GB+ to your tablet is overpriced at $100? Wow.

FWIW I saw this and thought it might be useful to you; didn't have time to look at the thread very closely though!
I thought of the same thing and even posted this idea to the Design Team of Asus. But I didn't get a response.
It would be a brilliant idea. I even tried to connect a BT dongle and see if they could pair up. Didnt work.
Suppose I want to read a book and didn't fancy swiping across the screen - I could use the dock remotely and turn the pages.
That still makes little sense? Who reads a book on this thing without holding it in their hands or having it in their lap?
About the only scenario that has made any sense at all was the one using the TF to power the TV with the dock remotely connected but even then I doubt 99.999% of the users would ever do that (ive only even powered a TV twice. once to test and a second at a friends house to show them something).
Hey guys, what do you think? Would you rather get the S4 or the Padfone2? Opinions would be appreciated.
My Opinion is ASUS PADFONE 2 For That Reasons...
-My Pc is Asus
-My Laptop is Asus
-I had the padfone 1!
-And tommorow i buy the padfone 2!!!!!!
Also i saw review about that 2 phones.they are not so different but the external matterial of ASUS is great....
MY OPINION.....
(Also you can use asus as TABLET!!! Is A GOOD REASON!)
What's troubling me from making a decision right now is that the tablet can't be operated without the phone and you can't pick up incoming calls without removing it from the pad. Apart from that I've always thought that the padfone 2 was great but now there's S4. And there's not even a thread which is dedicated to the padfone 2 here which means I can barely tweak my padfone 2...

i have the padfone2 and you can answer your call from your pad, besides the Padfone infinity is coming out soon, wait for it then decide.
good :good:luck
Looked for along time at Samsung, but price crazy for 32gb tablet alone and would have needed another data plan (what's the point if it's not instant on, I'm not gonna set up tether every time I want to surf, and its going to kill my phone battery if I forget to turn it off...3g is essential!!!)...
so bought used fonepad off ebey in UK for 500, best superphone I've had in ages, last was HTC sensation which was good but much slower and constantly running out of and reallocating memory, app multitasking was just painful, and screen was just a little too small for surfing, note taking, video etc... OMG, compared, this padfone is multiple organism provoking
This one is awesome and the pads ability to recharge phone just by sliding it in means I can use it for work almost non stop during the day... without the risk of having entire functional and configured tablet nicked - phone stays in my pocket unless i need to do something...
Perfect concept, one data plan, auto switches to WiFi when in range, Supernote works great, easy to jump to tablet to compose longer emails and sms... great for travel, 5 gmail accounts no problem! White ebay ultra pu stand+case from justilikecom for 15 quid works great. Cheap eBay bt headphones from e-superb for 15 GBP work just great for calls and music, and even movies on the go.
Not so good:
battery use pretty heavy in tablet mode, but maybe cause battery getting old on this one.... not possible to run for whole day non-stop without a recharge in the middle, but i have yet to find one that does... manufacturers figures always assume lowest power modes and screen off after a couple of mins(doesn't work for my usage at work-taking notes every couple of minutes, Gtalk, calls etc.) Basically on more often than not....
Suffered from known issue of sporadic reboots maybe10 times total, when cycling WiFi on and off (but that hasn't happened in a week so maybe another config option has negated this issue- not sure?).
No issues with power connector as some people commented (aware so careful) but regular micro-usb chargers don't work well unless you just use them to charge pad by itself... with phone it seems to recognize that it's not Asus charger and load will be too great-stops charging-and i can't find a spare adapter uk anywhere....
Best- The flexibility and bi-personality of the pf2 is awesome, with separate home screen app-widget config in pad or fone mode works great, so you can have 2 completely separate sets of home screens-more work to set up but I find tablet use totally different to phone, so very useful to have. Takes maybe 1-2 secs for phone to switch over to pad mode and redraw-rescale everything. Nice!
Can take calls and use it as speakerphone, or via BT, or just pull phone out and talk. It's a one-stop shop for communications...Google hangouts with video work fine, Skype also, what more could you wish for.....
Wish I had the money for an infinity(1000 GBP!!!).... but I now know what my next phone-tab will be
Wish xda had separate section for us to hang out in as well......

Follow-up.... on the charger issue-when phone is in tablet it detects amperage charger supplies and stops overloading if too low...so real 2A is required... nothing else.

And more..... bought about 3 hi-power wall chargers that promised 2A - none of them worked fully like OEM charger. Despair was setting in. Called bunch of retailers, no-one had oem uk charger.....
Then I bought portapow 4 port charger. Works great. Real 2A puppy, so works just like OEM, charges both tab and phone together no problem.
Details for the desperate- 14.99 gbp from fleabay, free shipping. Listed as Quad 4-port universal USB mains ac wall charger 10W 2A for iPad by seller portapow_co_uk. I have no connection, just good opinion.
Now rooted and running guerilla rom.... finally some action!!!! I'm going to look for 64gb version next.. need more room for my music and videos
Enjoy, whatever you get!!!!!
Today I stopped by an ATT corporate store and picked up the Padfone X Mobile Dock / Keyboard for $99.00
Jumping right into the goods because I really dont need to give a lengthy explanation of how a bluetooth keyboard works
Pros:
1) Perfect compliment to the Padfone X, works perfect and has a a bunch of shortcut selections that replace what would be the f1 to f12 keys
2) Dedicated screenshot key, perfect for stealing those instagram/facebook meme's lol
3) Holds the pad snug and is not a pain to detatch
4) Charges rather quickly
5) Is software upgrade-able, at the moment there is little or no mention of firmware updates for the keyboard but you'll see in the cons why we will be seeing an update soon
6) Very easy to pair with the phone and works with other bluetooth enabled devices.
7) The touchpad is very accurate and the buttons click very nicely
8) Built to last, this is not cheaply made, the keyboard is very rugged and has an all aluminum housing. The LED light alerts you to whether the keyboard is pairing or if there is a change in the battery life.
Cons:
1) The keyboard is heavier than the tablet and phone, so carrying this around in your backpack or preferred carrying bag will be a bit of a workout
2) Does not come with a charger, yes you must switch out the charger from the tablet or phone once you are finished and plug in to recharge the keyboard. I would assume the keyboard has some kind of extended battery in conjunction with its metal housing that adds weight, but the aluminum does add weight
3) does not charge natively via QI wireless, it charges only via micro usb
4) does not connect to the Padfone X in any other way but bluetooth, so there is no way the Padfone X station could charge the keyboard directly.
5) Keyboard lag when using the navigational keys too fast, although a software update can fix this
6) The shortcuts using the trackpad are a small learning curve, but no shortcuts to swipe scroll up or down on pages
7) A keyboard that costs $99, well if you want to make your Padfone X experience complete you will get this, I would say wait for the price to go down but do get one if you can.
The keyboard only comes by itself with the standard Asus instructions. It would have been nice if they could have included a dual charger of some kind, Like the one pictured in the instructions that doesn't seem to exist at the moment
Remember that this device is brand new, and who knows what kind of updates and/or features could be given in due time. With the keyboard attached it is a weighty item. Portable it is but I would have not complained of manufacturing quality if they used the same materials for the keyboard as they did with the Screen dock and phone.
I am curious however as to why this keyboard is so heavy...who knows anyone have the courage to gut theirs?
On a scale of 1 to 10 overall i give this accessory a 7 in fairness. Perhaps if they could have integrated a QI charger to both power the phone and tablet dock it would be worth its weight.
Are you sure the keyboard can receive firmware updates?
On the underside of the keyboard is a label that reads H/W ver 2.0, S/W ver 1.0

Do you know many android games that leverage keyboards? I haven't seen any... Most are touchscreen.
In my (extremely) testing, I haven't had any problems with simultaneous key presses. I have had issue with the trackpad when typing (palms keep pressing it) - there's a button to disable the trackpad that I need to get accustom too using. The keyboard is also so narrow that they had to remove the ' " and the / ? buttons. They have instead moved those to the buttons immediately to their left which will let you access the symbols for ' " / ? by holding the function key down. REALLY hard to get used to.
Overall, it's a keyboard for when you're in a pinch, not for comfort.

Is that a Padfone 1 keyboard dock that you're using with Padfone S?? Or did I misunderstand?
Just wondering as I am a firm Padfone fan and I need to replace my PF2 (managed to drop it one too many times). The lack of a keyboard dock has been annoying me since I got the PF2 - and the idea that I could re-use my PF1 keyboard seems a good one for now.

I just grabbed a new one on eBay, cheaper than it was when it was introduced, but still really too expensive.
I love that it grabs on to the tablet and gives you a nice clam shell, but I cannot stress enough how incredibly heavy it makes it. I mean the tablet/phone combo was no lightweight to start with and the keyboard might weight more by itself. Compared to the Motorola Atrix keyboard I had been using it's a considerable weight jump. You may have to invest in a man-purse if you want to carry it around.
The track pad seemed a little sloppy/slow compared to the bluetooth mouse I had been using, but since you have the touch screen, I can excuse that.
Hi,
Just wanted to let you guys know about this dock that I picked up from aliexpress.
The build quality is awesome, it is all metal. Feels really solid and it works in the same way the the actual DeX stations do.
I've attached a couple of images of the product and one of my review.
The current cost is USD $13.71 GBP £10.26 and that includes postage from China, mine turned up in a week and a half, really happy with it.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/EAS...893.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6d9f4c4d3EQZa8
It works in the same way as the original DeX does, you cannot use your screen as a trackpad and must connect a wireless/usb mouse and keyboard. I haven't tried it with a USB hub yet but I imagine it would work as it is powered via your USB-C phone charger. Using my GS9 original charger it allows passthrough fast charging whilst using the dock. You can also use it for standard screen mirroring rather than DeX mode.
With the experimental labs mode enabled (in DeX settings, which appears when connected) to allow you to scale most windows up to full screen. The only one I have found which doesn't go fullscreen is netflix. Things like PUBG mobile (only opened app to see if it works, you would need an app to remap keyboard keys to play a match), Youtube, Terrarium TV etc all work fine. The option for sound output via phone/connected hdmi device works.
If you have any questions or need me to try something out on it for you, please let me know.
There are some more expensive versions with more USB ports and 3.5mm audio out - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/EAS...-9e13-2ca171f3bfbb,scm-url:1007.13339.90158.0 - These are £29.91 (USD $39.98)
Nice. Do you need to remove the phone from the case or is the usb-c connector long enough? Just curious.

I did have to remove it from the case. I am using the Caseology Parallax which isn't overly thick (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Caseology-...-2&keywords=caseology+parallax+galaxy+s9&th=1 / https://www.caseologycases.com/products/galaxy-s9-parallax-case).
I don't see it as too much of an inconvenience, as when you are using the dock it is likely that you won't be leaving your desk/living/wherever for a while.
Thanks, I will keep it in mind. I bought one off Amazon that had a sale that I found on Slickdeals. It's the XF Times one and it was on sale for $8 so I took a gamble on it. It's working well at the moment but if it breaks, I will look at the one you posted. I already saved it to my Favorites.

Ah, that looks similar actually. I've never really looked on Amazon for them. I wasn't really looking to buy this one, I was just browsing Aliexpress and decided to actually order something on there rather than just browsing for ages and deciding against it. I picked up a couple of cases and watch straps too, it's too easy to buy things when they are so cheap!
My cheap DeX dock works fine
Only problem is, it doesn't charge the phone. The dock requires USB power also. Without power, it just mirrors the phone screen. So I just charge the phone in the morning and it would go all day on DeX if I wanted. However, I usually get up and go to meetings and such, so I end up taking the S9 with me. When I get back, I will typically top off the charge again before plugging back into DeX. I have a DeX setup at work with monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and I also have one at home. I just take the little dock with me and keep it in my backpack. They are so cheap, I really should just buy another one to keep one at both places.
If I don't plug in a mouse, I can use the phone as a touchpad. If I do plug in a mouse, the touchpad functionality doesn't work. Which is fine; just an observation.

If I don't plug in a mouse, I can use the phone as a touchpad. If I do plug in a mouse, the touchpad functionality doesn't work. Which is fine; just an observation.

Hi,
I hadn't even tried it without the wireless keyboard attached as I foolishly assumed it wouldn't work with this dock. I've just tried it and thanks for the tip it works great as a touchpad!
I just carry a spare USB-C lead with me when I need it, it even manages to fast charge.
One thing I will note is that the connection has become a bit hit and miss on this, I don't know whether that is build quality or because the dock USB-C connector has taken a knock when I have been carrying it around. I still think that I can't really complain for what it cost me.
Yeah, I figured the touchpad function wouldn't work because it is not a Samsung dock. But it still does if you don't use any other input devices.
Just to clarify this dock puts the S9 into the actual DEX mode, not some sort of "similar" app?

Hi Cookie,
Yeah, this gives actual DeX mode :good:. There are loads of similar products about on Amazon/Ebay but I went for this as it was a cheap addition to an Aliexpress haul.

I got Goodock one, overall it worked pretty good but it does randomly disconnect from time to time (very quickly, it doesn't even leave DeX mode). I am using a HDMI to VGA adapter in my setup, I doubt it is the reason for disconnects but you never know.
I wrote a review in the S9+ accessories area:

How often do you find yourself using it? I think I have only used mine 2/3 times but I like knowing it is there if I need it.

Honestly maybe once a week. Hard to break the habit of just firing up a laptop.
Can this work with a non Samsung Android?
Is there/ shouldnt there be a generic/ stock Android alternative for the same?
This is nice but better connect a computer from other room to tv and bring cable through the wall for wireless mouse too there if it's for home.
I recommend this.
