HI ! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just a question, why is it so hard to development a MIUI port for Samsung Galaxy S2, both Samsung Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy S have it today. Is the S2 so different phone?? I have test a couple of MIUI´S Beta ROM´S but its to much that not working right

It's a question and should be under the Q&A section, right?

and this is the q&a section? confused.... anyway if you kept up with the development of the miui and cm7 from the sgs and the nexus s u would know that samsung dont just hand over everything needed for the device itself. it took ages for samsung to release the drivers for the hardware on the sgs and that makes life near impossible for the devs. its alot harder then just copy and paste files into a new framework. its built from the bottom up on all devices, way i see it if your not smart enough to do it yourself then dont question the people who are doing it

From HD-2 to Galaxy s II T989.....

So sadly I ported from the hd2 to a galaxy s II and I have read some threads and I have managed to root phone and added cwm to the phone after reading for a 2 day period I take the plunge to ask for some help I want to change to a new rom with better battery life and with less bloat ware on the phone but I really don't want to brick phone or loose some of its cool features I know this question has probably bean asked but I see nothing for the T989 on T-mobile any or some help will be really appreciated thank you in advance....................
This forum is for the international version, if you keep looking on the XDA forums home page there is a separate forum for the T-Mobile t989

for example, i9001 has already an ics upgrade. Or it doesn't belong to the "lower members" group, what u mentioned?
i dont think Galaxy S or its twin brother i9001 belong to the group of Ace, Gio and Y. However, i dont think there is official upgrade expected for these devices, may be because of their low specs, which is why an unofficial upgrade might not work that well either. you can google "minimum requirement to run ICS" to know whether they would run ICS smoothly.
Cheers
I don't think so .. samsung doesn't care about their old phones anymore .. and i don't think it's because of hardware incompatibilities/limitations because Gio, Ace, Fit have their unofficial version of CM9 .. meaning it's possible .. but due to lack of source codes because samsung is not releasing them, camera is still not working and some other features are limited .. hope you get the answer you needed ..

Does the Galaxy Nexus now have the edge over the S2????

I am not asking this question based purely on the specs but more based on the specs and the world these phones live in. What i mean is, both are proven, good, reliable Android phones. But consider the price you would pay for an unlocked contract free handset on Ebay or somewhere. Availability off latest software and updates etc.
I was looking on Ebay UK and seems you could get a good example of either phone for around £250. Now i hate bloatware so rooting on the S2 is essential to remove any crap useless programmes.. stock market prices app as standard...!! do they think we are all rich stock market traders!!!
Galaxy Nexus is pretty much bloatware free and i actually now run the F1 Galaxy Nexus ROM on my S2 and i prefer it 5000% over any version of GB or ICS.
So seeing now that JellyBean 4.1 is available for Nexus phones and may/may not ever appear on the S2 and if it does it could take a while. Google Nexus phones seem to be getting their Google updates pretty much straight away, take these things into account....
Does anyone think the Nexus might currently have gained an edge over the S2, maybe even the S3 and the best Samsung Android phone currently available?

True !!
really... is that the intelligent replies that are going to be posted??? how disappointing...
well your worthless replies can be ignored seeing as you obviously couldn't be bothered to back up your answer with a few reasons why.
Worthless questions are doomed to get worthless answers. Specially when they are made in the wrong forum.
I think this beats both the Nexus & the S2.
(as the poster above me said, you deserve nonsensical answers because threads like this are stupid. They don't belong here. This isn't Sammobile or GSMArena).

S2 General Forum and you say that is the wrong one... a forum for 'general' discussion about the S2 phone. i think asking a question like i have counts as general and i am an S2 owner so i am asking from the point of view of an S2 owner.
So which would be the correct forum oh mighty forum god????
I didn't know you had a learning disability, my apologies.
On top of the general forum you will find a sticky reading:
***QUESTIONS BELONG IN Q&A!***
But hey dude, keep fighting the good fight and ignoring guidelines and rules, after all the whole world is here to serve you!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
Okay I will tell you what I think about. My suggestion is, that more and more people want the newest Google experience. So they want the Galaxy Nexus. It´s a good device, but it has not the power off the Galaxy S 3. But you must ask, is it be needed? I think not! You can have a good OS without much power. Look at windows phone single processor and 512 MB of RAM and not so bad performance in many cases.
Some little points are very imported you may miss. The GN has no FM-Radio, "only" a 5 MP Camera and no SD Slot. So everybody can choose what is imported for yourself.
One point I miss... Do we need a update each time?

[Q] No Support For the I9301I, Correct?

Hey everyone,
I unwittingly bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (I9301I) today instead of the I9300, and have been having a lot of trouble finding anything to flash onto it. I think I've found my answer already, but to be sure: am I correct in thinking that there's no ROM support for the S3 Neo out currently? No Recovery app and no ROM to play with? If I'm correct, can anyone tell me if there are plans currently underway to change this? Or perhaps it's possible to use ROMs meant for the I9300?
Kind regards,
Matthias
I appears not only you made this mistake... I also bought i9301i instead of i9300 (long story short - I knew it was "Neo", the old version i9300 was hard to get).
At this moment I'm looking for custom roms, but it appears to be "too fresh" device with no support from e.g. CyanogenMod team. There is a problem in different components (as a newbie I'm not allowed to post links, so I have to obscure it) devicespecifications dot com slash en slash comparison slash e1d42876 (link found on XDA forums).
Also - I think that there are too few people using i9301i, so chances for creating new subforum on XDA are... Slim.
That is some bad news

Hey nekr0, thanks for the first reply, I'm hoping we'll get some good news about this soon, I'd love to start trying out some ROMs on this nice device. Even if it's just one or two ROMs I'd be a pretty happy camper overall.
Cheers.
Dont worry too much.
Its only a matter of time to get some support from XDA. It wont be as populat as S3 flag, but something will be done for sure.
I have bought 9301 as well, and using it for a week now, unrooted. Phone seems to be a good value for money for me. Time will tell though.
I have noticed that many people are confused about S3, S3 Neo, S3 Neo+.
Either way, it seems we will get 4.4.4 on 9301, so keep calm and dont push it too hard. Kernel modifications are risky.

It's a nice device, I'm happy with the hardware, I hope you're right, I guess I'll just be patient and hope there'll be a developer who is willing and able to make the port.
Cheers.

I read this but is in italian http://www.optimaitalia.com/blog/20...ento-4-4-4-per-i-samsung-galaxy-s3-neo/165516
Yes, it is information about Samsung Galaxy S III Neo... But Samsung is misleading us with naming. There are 2 "Neos", sometimes it is Neo, sometime Neo+, sometime Neo Duos/Duo. In this article you linked, information is about i9300i - yes, two regions already have 4.4.4 update: SKZ (Kazakhstan) and TGY (Hong Kong), but this topic is about i9301i. This is not the same device.

I really hate Samsung' naming conventions, they're terribly confusing. But yes, this thread is about the i9301i specifically.
Good news for GT-I9301i owner: Rox bought that device and will develop/build universal root, cwm and cm for us!

That is some great news! I went to his/her user account, but there's no development thread for this yet right? If there is, could you link it, if there isn't could you tell me how you know this?
