Help. I rooted the phone with z4root and then installed clockworkmod recovery and made a back up. Afterwards I installed android firewall so I can block apps internet permissions and after installing it my phone can't read from the memory card. I go into recovery to recover and it said my md5 doesn't match. So I checked to see If its the card but I made another back up on the card, so its working and I even recovered with the new back up. But the card still can't be read when the phone is fully on.
So how can I either recover my first recovery file, and try to recover the phone from it.
Or, how do I prepare the phone so I can send it in for a replacement

Also when the memory card is still in it says checking for errors.

i dont think a replacement is required because you said your card can still be read in recovery. this is all i have on the top of my head (sorry). if you have a card reader, plug your card into it and backup all your data on your computer. then boot into recovery and format your card. after that enable usbms toggle and copy your backup (on the computer) onto your card. see if that works. and about your md5, ive read that you shouldnt continue with any process if the md5 sum doesnt match
So tel me if this would work. What if I copy the md5 from the new recovery to the old recovery that had a md5 not match.? Would that work

You could try but since the md5 didn't match to the original it might be corrupted.

i tried to swap out the md5 but no luck.. going to try the memorry card thing. can anyone give me a like so i can reset the phone to factory and get rid of clockworkmod and get it ready so i can sent it to t-mobile for a replacement.
Yes the formating of the sdcard in recovery work nicely. thanks guys for the help

So I flashed a new rom after backing up everything through Titanium Backup and Clockwork Recovery. I flashed the rom, but was met with a force close loop. I tried doing a factory reset through recovery mode and that got rid of the loop. But when I installed Titanium Backup, none of the backups were there. Same goes for Nandroid. What's going on?
Did u accidentally format ur sd card? Because tb is pretty reliable

Never had this happen before, but to fix this in the future you should make a backup of the tb folder on your pc...actually you should do your entire internal and external sd anyway!

Reboot and see if they're still there or plug your phone into a pc and try to access the sd card contents. I've had a few instances where TB didn't show me anything on the sd card until i rebooted. Weird but it's worth a shot before you do anything drastic.

Arghh I think this is what I might have done somehow. My sdcard folders did get messed up. I guess I'll have to start from scratch then...
I'm wondering if anyone can walk me through completely cleaning out my phone before re-flashing Crazy 8. I read somewhere that you can format your internal and external sd cards to really clean things up. I've been having major slow downs and fc's and I want to try this to see if it helps. MY question is, do you format these cards and then go back to stock with ODIN or the other way around? Any tips would be most appreciated.
move critical stuff to pc
format internal/external
power down
odin to jfd
use the update.zip in my noob guide that lets you boot straight to cwr
flash rom
move any critical items back (ie titanium backup folder if you want your apps)

You format each drive through your pc or directly through the phone?

Awesome s15! Thanks so much. I will try this when I get home later. My internet has been down all day at work or I would've thanked you sooner!
Matty: I think you unmount the cards and then format them through the phone but I'll find out more later when I try it out.
You can format your internal/external SD card using either your phone or the computer. However, I think you should better use your phone to avoid any incompatibility issue.

Thank you both. I wasn't sure how to go about it.

Just boot into recovery, select mounts and storage. There is a format SD and format extSD choice. Always make sure you've removed anything critical to your PC first.

YAY! Formatting both SD Cards worked a charm. My phone is very speedy now and not having all the weird random re-boots and FC's! I can't buy anything from the market though, again, this is such a weird problem and I seem to be the only one having it.

I can't get my internal or external sd card to work anymore it keeps saying "usb damaged you may need to reformat it." Anyone have any idea of a way I could back things up before i have to format?
Should probably mentioned that CWM still recognizes it and that it happened after I flashed the v5 preview of checkrom in the I9100 section (hellraised of course) and that the issue still appears even after going to my Android backup, ICScrewD

Try hooking your external to a computer and copy all the files to another folder. Format it. Then put them back on.

This happened to me but worse...
For a week or so I had a feeling my ext card was dying (backed up weekly), yesterday it stopped working. Had to reformat then use some recovery programs on Window to get the files back most of which I got back.
I thought that was the reason for my media scanning loop, but once I removed the card it still did that the rest of the day, I ended up reformatting the internal portion as well, but I moved everything to my PC before doing so.
Was able to get rid of all the junk from leftover apps/roms as well, feels smoother.
Hopefully your able to retrieve everything, good luck!!

just need to pull the android folder on the sd card, too much stuff to do manually with droid explorer
Never used Droid Explorer, I just pulled it directly using windows since it was just the USB. Going to grab it when I get home and see what Droid Explorer can do for me.
Thanks!

it can't do folders but it basically is ADB with a GUI, ended up saying screw it and wasted the Android folder and everything is back on
I had the opposite problem once. My computer would recognize storage, but the phone wouldn't. I ran a disk check and it fixed the problem.
I'm having a different issue when I plug in the USB and hit the drop down to "select to copy files to/from computer". When the computer recognizes the two SD drives, I get a popup that says there's a possible problem with my internal SD card and wants to scan it for fixes. Not sure if it's safe to let windows mess with my internal card. I can opt out of that popup and everything works fine. The question is, is it safe to let Windows scan and possible fix it?

USB Storage is damaged too, no CWM, no connect to PC
Hi,
Just rooted my phone 2 days back and today just got the USB Storage damaged in notification bar.
I cannot accessed to both internal and external in ES File Explorer and also not able to connect to my PC. I do not have CWM too.
I did have a copy of Titanium Backup for all users and system apps in my PC, is formatting the ONLY way? I am afraid that after formatting, the system files would be gone and I would not even able to restore from Titanium Backup and Samsung Service Center would charge me since I had void the warranty by rooting the phone.
Please help! :-(
Go into recovery and mount the internal and use adb or Droid explorer to get the necessary files out
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I am using Quickboot to go into recovery mode, Tried the Reboot system now but still same issue. which one to select? Pardon me as I am new to rooting.
Reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
You don't have cwm installed it seems

No CWM installed.............you sounds like I am done for :-(...............what's next for me? Really hope I do not need to send to Samsung, sure charged me for warranty void.

My advice is to just flash a kernel with Odin, getting into Download mode with a jig, and then trying to pull the files off with CWM.
I installed Wuiu the other night and now when I try to restore a back up that I had previously had saved on my phone it just says "no files found" What did I do?! Did the ROM update my CWM and now the files are not compatible or what? If this is the case how can I find out which version of CWM i had and how can I get that back?
If I guess correctly, what happened is the sd cards are now mounted differently. You just need to find the backup directory with astro or some other root able file manager and move it to the correct sd card. I can't remember if the external is emmc or the internal one is. But whichever is which you just need to move the backup folder to the correct sd card. Sorry I can't give more detailed instructions, as I don't use wiui but if I remember right its based on cm7 file structuring.

In cwm, there should be two option to restore from. Go to backup and restore and then the third or fourth option down should be restore from internal.

While in CWM try both locations, cause Entropy and Siyah have it named differently.
I thought I was doing pretty good with this One being used to the HTC One X . Now a new problem I can't figure out. When connecting usb. It says usb connected. Debugging mode checked. My computer says Android device , My HTC. but it wont show as a hard disk in the computer, It only shows as a portable media player. I can't access the SD card, can't go into Recovery and mount SD card to copy or delete. This just started when I flashed Cognition 1 rom. I had factory on it before and was reading the SD by copying and deleting roms to the card. Any backup I make in recovery and rename , it still has a label as factory rom.
Windows 8,
unlocked , rooted, TWRP recovery v 2.5
I have a folder on the SD card labeled "Roms" where I put the Rom zips to flash in recovery and can't find that now either. In settings , under storage there is "mount usb storage " as greyed out. I have deleted HTC sync. Deleted drivers, reintstalled drivers and back to where I was before. Any help ?
Try rebooting computer

At least you offered something even if it didn't work. I can't figure out why it was working fine, then nothing. I can get to the"portable media player" thru my computer and all is recognized but the SD card wont show or be able to mount in recovery.
Yea I haven't ever had that issue yet lol if I find anything I'll post it here for ya maybe @gunnyman may have some insight he's been around the HTC block before

If you get stuck, I always choose sideloading because that doesn't require access to the phone storage.

I haven't got stuck yet to the point of no return. I tried using CWM no difference. Tried calling HTC. they offered no help. For some reason I just made another folder for roms and presto there is the folder. When in recovery I see the "rom" folder and whats in it, but connecting to the PC there is no folder except now the one I made. When I go back to recovery there is only one "rom" folder but I can also see what I put in it before making the new folder and adding to it. Still can't mount the SD card in recovery tho.

Never call support... Absolute uselessness in that solution. Just install from zip to get the boot.
