Hey!
To ignore problems in future, I suggesting you to do COMPLETE BACKUP(Nandroid or at least TITANIUM BACKUP). If you do both its even better!
CHEERS!

KPN, KPH was what he said. Either of those.

[Q] Confusion between KPH & KPN

KPH is the latest version (2.3.4) which theoretically should be better than KPN (2.3.3), but i have found many ROMS's have KPN as their base & these ROM's are supposed to be the fastest & stable of all ROM's . I am using the latest 2.3.4 KPH Stock ROM provided by Samsung ; & so m confused to which ROM should i go for , those based on KPH or KPN. Please guys if anyone can help me much appreciated (even though i m sound dumb to some people !!)
2.3.4 KPH is not the latest. It was a leaked ROM dated June 2, 2011.
2.3.3 KPN is an official release by Samsung dated July 13, 2011.

not even even samsung feel it stable enough to give it official release (otherwise, we'll get 2.3.4 KPH official release instead)
being official release (through kies, samsung service center), samsung must have feel that KPN already stable for mass release. iron some bug, etc.

either seperate file (all 4 including appboot, pda, modem, csc) or one package (but also must include every file needed) work just fine.
i use this
2.3.3 KPN firmware - http://www.multiupload.com/Y643XGWMMN (password: sampro.pl)
it's one package file that include all 9 files needed for full package.
i use it to flash my ace from froyo stock
How to flash one package? In odin check One Package and just mount the rar and click start? What about OPS file?

You need the Cooper_v1.0.ops and then enable one package. Afterwards select the zip in one package.
You can download everything here.
Note that you have to extract the first zip folder until there's only one zip left which is called S5830XWKPN_S5830XWKP6_S5830OXXKP7_HOME

The only new feature kph 2.3.4 has that is not present in kpn 2.3.3 is the video chat in gtalk.
Galaxy Ace users cant even use that feature because the phone does not have a front facing camera.
That is why a lot of ROMs are based on KPN. For the reason that most bugs have been fixed and Samsung has ironed it out already.

I have flashed fla.sh X2 on top of KPH (even though the author said it's KPN-based), and I have yet to encounter problems such as SoD's, FC's and such. I don't if I'm just lucky or it's something I did, but I can't seem to recreate the SoD problems (but I try, though).

Android 2.3.4 is on par with KPH, so it doesn't seem like you are outdated.
But if I were you, just to be safe, I'd still flash it with KPH or KPN if I wanted to use a custom ROM.
I'm sorry for asking, but which country are you from? (Can't see the flag under your avatar as I'm browsing through my phone).

Note, your phone is a i9100G so almost everything on this forum wont work on your phone.
The easiest way to root would be to flash this kernel, and if you want a custom rom, this rom.
They are the only custom kernel/rom for the i9100G
So just download it and flash it It wont stuck ? cuz it stucked last time on the start up screen ?
And bare with me cuz we all start at a point when i use the odin what do use pda or csc phone or bootloader ?

If you want to *just* root and dont want to flash a custom kernel, this thread has a full guide
Im sorry, im not going to type out the info in the linked thread again.. its very easy to follow.
If you want to flash the kernel;
1) Download the file, it should be a .tar
2) download odin
3) download and install drivers (if you have kies and drivers installed kill kies from task manager)
4) put phone into download mode (power off, press+hold home+voldown then press power)
5) open odin
6) Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:COM section to turn yellow#
7) put kernel in the PDA box
8) hit flash
Many many thanks brother ive just rooted it and i hope u put this method in the forums for guys like me lol

Custom roms: Any mods/themes/etc in the rom, read the two threads and see if you want any of the features.

[Q] Custom ROM for Baseband XXKPP

I have 3 questions that i couldn't answer by myself..
1.
Is there any Custom ROM for XXKPP ?
I look at the custom rom list at section android development but i couldn't find for this baseband version.
2.
In BehradGH CyanoAce RC2.2 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258830
He recommends XKPB 2.3.4 Modem, and my question is :
If I flash my firmware with XKPP or Baseband version 2.3.4+ , is there will be any problem if i use that ROM?

and lighter too
Click thanks if i helped

Allright, maybe i'll try it.. But if there is anyone who can explain more, i'll be more grateful Thx
1- custom rom doesnt depends on baseband at all. u can flash it on any baseband. just make sure to not mix eg by flashing gb custom rom/cm7 rom on froyo. that would be stupid.
2- suggestion is not mandatory. when i first flash that rom i'm on chinese zckpa rom with chinese baseband, and it work just fine.

Because, 4.0.4 has brick bug on its stock kernel, you only have two options.
1. Flash a prerooted ICS 4.0.4 firmware via CWM recovery, then flash a custom kernel via temporary CWM recovery.
2. Flash ICS 4.0.4 firmware via Odin. You will lose ROOT and CWM recovery, then flash a custom kernel via Odin to have ROOT and CWM recovery back.
Which option are you going for?

[Q] Galaxy S II update from 2.3.4 to ICS

Hello xda-devs,
I rooted my sgs2 a while back , but now with the official release of ICS on my phone , I'd like to update to it.
My questions are: Can I do it without unrooting the phone? If not , how can I unroot my phone along with most of the apps I got that only work on rooted devices?
Thanks in advance

1. Download the latest firmware for your phone and country from Sammobile
2. Backup your important data (Messages, Contacts etc)
3. Read the flashing Guide here
4. Extract the zip file you downloaded.
5. Flash the firmware via Odin
done.
When you are done, let me know.
Also, if you have any questions, do let me know.

But I still have a question. Can I still use Apps like AdFree now ? Or do I have to root it again?

You have to Root again. Actually rooting is much easier in ICS.
First, you need to post your Firmware details: Goto Settings > About phone, and post everything you see.
