[Q] Asia Firmware I9100DXKG3 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Asia Firmware I9100DXKG3
PDA Only
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6XABDI0X

is this leak or kies official release?

ok hanks been waiting for this. i really need it for my backup in case something went wrong

flashed this to check, dated July 14 (i think) and it's 2.3.3 only.

I wish Samsung had a release schedule. I'm waiting for the Asia update (bought phone in Singapore) and want 2.3.4 in a stock firmware. So frustrating not knowing what is going on.
Anyone know of any semi-official statements on release schedule for the SGS2?

Help upgrading to G2 to 2.1

Hello all,
Apologies is this has come up in the forums before but I hve looked through and couldn't find an answer.
Basically I bought a used G2 from ebay that was locked (& branded) to T-Mobile. I had it rooted/unlocked and now am on a Vodafone 30 day contract. It is currently running android 1.5.
I have not been prompted by the OTA update. I am unsure whether I use Vodafone or T-Mobile software for the update, or whether there is maybe a generic HTC version available? I want to make sure that the phone is left open to work on Vodafone after the updgrade also.
If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated,
Thank you very much in advance!!
Keith
If you're going to stick with the official releases just flash the WWE version (which you should be able to find a link on here somewhere). Bear in mind that this will permanently lock you into v2.1 official releases as there is no known method to gain root on 2.1 as of yet and custom rom's will be out of the question.
The Vodafone and T-Mobile versions of the software mainly contain advertisement rather than actual changes.
duno if it helps but i was gettin pissed waiting for the t-mobile ota update, so i created a gold card using the method in another section, downgraded to the generic rom then run both ota updates when my phone promted me (setting my date 1 year ahead) i did not like the 2.1 as it was running peep and teh rest that i never use, i just reflashed it with the generic 1.5 rom i used originaly, installed flashrec and a recovery image, and is now running, happly, vallian 12. i was originaly on the latest t-mobile firmware.
duno if that helps? or was it a cooked version of 2.1 it downloaded via the ota system?
i is still happly rooted.

[Q] 2.3.4 in Kies (DBT)

Guys, Sorry if this is too early to ask this question..
Any idea when GS2, Gingerbread 2.3.4 update will come in Kies?
Thanks
2.3.4 is not yet released by Samsung when it is released over Kies depends upon product code and phone supplier one week to six months .
KG1 2.3.4 is a leaked test release only
KG2 is 2.3.3 not 2.3.4 .

According to a tweet by samfirmware yesterday 2.3.4 is due to be released via kies this month only. They did not clarify which region will come first though.

From previous experience on i9000, usually Europe will get it first, followed by Asia...

i hope UK willl get it first....
reading this quote, i will not try the leaked version it could still be incomplete, who knows
Leaked version is working perfect for me no problems very happy!!
...And it doesn't seem to turn the screen on when I receive an email like some of the later 2.3.3 builds did.
Battery life not spectacularly better than before, but I had few complaints on that score anyway.
..
hmmm...ive a DBT version...got the Ke7 update last week only via kies.! so may b another 3 months for sure.
well i can tell one thing for certain, kg1 will be released in july.
samsung's release names start with a "k", then the release month, then the absolute number of the release that given month, so "g" being the 7th letter it will be released in july, just like the "kf" builds came out in june and the "ke" builds came out in may. however, this does not necessarily mean, it will be the 2.3.4 version that was leaked, or if and when it will come to any region.
how would anyone predict the release date of a build correctly? there was a test build now, that has a lot of issues. now they need to address these issues. they certainly follow forums like this one. even samsung employee's couldn't tell you, when it will come out, since it is not yet finished.
KG2 = 2.3.3 released .

Unbranded official update

http://www.coolsmartphone.com/2012/02/01/samsung-galaxy-s2-unbranded-update-update/
I tweeted samsung uk asking when we should see an update for our unbranded S2's as we are still on 2.3.4, Samsung have responded with 'in the next few weeks'
Do you think they will update to 2.3.5/2.3.6 or will they go straight to ICs 4? Not sure if it would be worth them working on the next gingerbread update for us when ICS is around the corner..... what doe you people think?
ICS is not ready yet.
Here, at Russia, we have android 2.3.5 last official firmware through kies, i suppose that we all get android 2.3.6(which have the new lockscreen), in few weeks.
Hi!, at south america we are on 2.3.6 official (branded), waiting for ICS, anyway, on the developers section there's really good modded roms.

Most users on this development forum would have updated outside of the official route .
Yes possible that the next update would be ICS as i would be certain that their is no update before that . Why well no need to work on 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 as they have been released a long time now .

GALAXY S2 update ics

hi i was waitin for the ics update ota in uk simfree debranded. i have not got the update today so will flashing the poland software be all right !
should be released pretty soon...you can safely update from KIES thereafter...
or else if you already know flashing via ODIN... the polish version works just fine...
preferably to a factory reset ...after flashing
Personal choice would be to wait for a newer release .

thanks so much ! the update will be coming later today?
ICS Latin America
Hello.
Of the published ROMS, which of these is the most recommended for Latin America?
I believe Samsung failed again to keep the dates.
I am waiting for the UK update all day and still nothing.
Does anyone know when this will be released?

On their Facebook page, they said it would be released week commencing 19th March not ON 19th March.

Stick with GB for now. From various reviews on here, there's some disappointment and GB is as stable as you'll get for now.

[Q] When is ICS avaliable?

I bought the phone in January sim free, for full price from my local mobile phone store. It is running stock android 2.3.4 (build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4). Its been in the online news a lot that ICS would be available by the end of Q1 but still, i am unable to update. I get a message saying my firmware is the latest available.
I live in New Zealand and as far as i understand you (USA) have ICS but what about for me? I'm assuming my phone is the international version so i thought i would have the update by now.
So does anyone know the full story?
Thanks
ICS hasn't been released by any of the NZ telcos yet (I checked with Checkfus). You can pretty much run any ICS stock (or custom for that matter) rom you want. Lots of Odin (mainly stock roms) & CWM flashable (mainly custom) roms on here (search the development sections).
One thing to bear in mind if you do flash a stock ICS rom from another region tho, you may have problems getting updates via Kies in future. If that happens, you'd need to flash a stock rom for your region in order to get Kies updates again. Or you could do what the majority of people on here do, bypass Kies completely (horrible excuse for software) & flash all your roms manually.
As long as you've got an I9100 or I9100T you can flash any firmware for these phones.
Fellow Kiwi here mate, just flash any ics rom thru odin. I've had no issues whatsoever, the latest Lp7 rom with speedmod kernel is the best I've had. You wont regret it.
I'm with telecom, they wont update anything quickly at all.
Hope this helps your decision
