[Q] How to hide porn from Gallery? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there...
How can I hide my porn from showing up in the Gallery?
Brgds... /Tubgirl
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using XDA Premium App

Hahaha, by deleting it.

Naughtly girl having porn on your phone
Get the Quickpic app and you can hide any porn you have with that.

^And you have experience with that. LOL.

Im interested as well, not for porn but for some private pictures which I dont want to be easily visible with others.

Put it in a folder with a . at the beginning if the filename ie: .pron and then it can only be viewd by a file manager like astro or something.

Audio manager is by far the test app for that...it doesn't just audio manage ;-)

i don't have any porn on my phone at present mate that's not to say i haven't before.
Basically any man who says they've never looked at porn is a liar unless they are a serious devout Muslim or Christian but ive time for any religion in the slightest so it doesn't bother me

You are right . I also seen a few some months back.
But I just hate those people who regularly watches them and always find some time to see it, so disgusting.

Thank you... Quickpic worked just fine. After hiding the folders with Quickpic I only had to reboot the phone and they were invisible in the Gallery as well. Now I don't have to be nervous anymore when other people are playing with my phone...

I'd be far more nervous about letting people play with my phone than about them seeing what's in the gallery though having said that, I do use Quickpic too...

Rofl, pretty straight forward question I use audio manager too for hiding my personal x-rated videos. Wouldn't want my girlfriend seeing me in action with other birdies

What's this Audio Manager app you're talking about? I searched Market and only found widget called Audio Manager. It's used for displaying sound volumes on the home screen.
Brgds... /Tubgirl

If you hide porn via quickpic there should be an easy way to unhide it right or is there some sort of password protection ?

My God, it's not that hard to find one yourself. Just go to the Market and type in "mp3 download" and tons of nice apps that do pretty much the same thing will come up. I don't think you should ask unless you've looked and didn't find anything that worked.
I don't think jumping on him helped much here. If he is new to Android sometimes when you look for a particular type of app several pop up and you never know which one actually works best or has issues. Sometimes it's nice hearing from people that have tried apps before you download and waste time.
gtunes is pretty good

It's just like searching Google, or anything else. It's not hard and it doesn't matter if you are "new to Android" or not I don't think. If you type 'mp3 download' (a pretty common thing you would think to type if you want to download mp3s) on the Market, I literally just now did it, the first 8 things that come up will all work fine. It's just a matter of which one you like the best. It's an opinion and everyone has their own. For example: the guy above likes Gtunes while I hate it, and use MP3 Music Download Super. You have to learn to form your own opinions...so anyways, it has nothing to do with being new to Android, you just search like you do anything else, and LEARN on your own.
Im not new to android and I did search those up, however, I have no clue what else is on their servers where they get their music. Things could be infected, that's why I asked what you guys recommend.

Ahh...yea I don't get what the whole deal is with the whole Android getting viruses and everything...they aren't like computers, and the only way something could get on your phone and do something you don't want is through installing an apk file that you give the permissions to. No file other than .apk can be twined with a "virus" and "infect" your phone....I don't know why so many people think that.

[Q] Does the Note come with a Car Home app?

My old Morotola Droid had a car home app on it so when you put it in the dock it triggered the Car Home app.
I just ordered the Samsung Car Dock and on the box it shows a picture of a car home type app on it that looks pretty darn cool. But I don't see anything like that installed on my Note?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0077PYL9W/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=2335752011&s=wireless

Used this on my vibrant and says it will send to my Note so theres a starting point. There are others. I used to use vlingo.

Dunno, didnt look at the box, was more interested in the hunk of plastic and silicon inside. Did you look at the app link I posted? I imagine if samsung is going to put a car dock home screen on the box it would be the Samsung Car Home app.

Yup, that's the reason Eset gave me too, before it moved the app into quarantine, pity it could have been good to relive old memories!!
You could of course disable your AV while you download this, (always remembering to activate it again afterwards), install the app and then install "Airblocker" from the market, click "Detect Airpush" then block the ads.
If you wanna risk it.

Didn't FernandoSor have to pull down his Pandora he modded with no ads and unlimited skips because it was considered "warez"? Or maybe the issue was due to Pandora having Pandora One which is paid and doesnt have ads?

Close. It was not his mod to begin with. A friend stumbled across it and we themed it. After being posted for like two weeks it was decided to be considered warez, so he promptly removed it. Then the conversation turned to the hacked sprint WiFi hotspot that everyone posts in their roms and we left it at that. So warez are unfortunately hit and miss

the best app i use to download is MusicJunk. Tip though: the newer versions of music junk dont work, you need V3.04.. imma save you the trouble of searching and extract a copy from my phone. Music Junk V3.04:MediaFire or you can dowload it here at 4shared Music Junk.apk
EDIT: for some reason the Mediafire Link downloads the apk into a " .txt" but a simple solution is just to rename it to "Music Junk.apk" (Without quotes). however the 4shared link downloads the apk just fine.
I had used Last.fm Free before it was taken off the old Market. It had the search functionality of Tunee Music and the ability to search by Last.fm tags and look up the Artist descriptions, similar artists, etc.
The UI wasn't pretty, but searching was fast and powerful... Apparently too powerful...

Successfully Frozen Apps

Now that we have some root access, I figured we could use this thread to report what apps we've successfully frozen/uninstalled, and using which app.
So far from using Rom Toolbox (Pro) I was able to freeze the following:
-Amazon
-Amazon Kindle
-Backup Assistant Plus
-My Verizon Mobile
-SEAndroid
-Setup Wizard
-Sync Service (backup assistant)
-Verizon Login
-Verizon Mobile Security
-Verizon Remote Diagnostics
-Verizon Tones
-Verizon Navigator
-Verizon Voicemail
-Voice Recorder
Uninstalled:
-NFL Mobile
-Audible
Cant find/figure out:
-Viewdini apk (no idea what this even is)
-VZW Mobile Hotspot apk
-Audible Re-installs itself.
Some of the apps were stubborn and needed to be frozen a couple of times for it to stick.
I have frozen via TitanBU:

You do know that the built in disable feature cannot disable every app, right? Hence one reason some of us root out phones.
Disabling app is the same thing as freezing if YOU watched the Google videos from there YouTube channel they explained it but Google is not gona use the stupid word (freeze) so they went for (disable) its exactly the same effect and does exactly the same thing nothing different at all !

I could be mistaken but i think when you don't root, there isn't ALWAYS an option to disable an app. I know on my wife's phone there are some apps she has to leave in the app drawer because when you go to disable it, the "disable" button is greyed out. You can't click it.
If you root, you can disable EVERY app, even the ones with the greyed out buttons.
But i'm sure if i'm wrong you will correct me with all caps and annoying exclamation points

So do I open an app and place my phone the freezer and let it get frozen? And if I re-enable the app.. am I an enabler?

I could be mistaken but i think when you don't root, there isn't ALWAYS an option to disable an app. I know on my wife's phone there are some apps she has to leave in the app drawer because when you go to disable it, the "disable" button is greyed out. You can't click it.
If you root, you can disable EVERY app, even the ones with the greyed out buttons.
But i'm sure if i'm wrong you will correct me with all caps and annoying exclamation points

he better not correct you since you're correct. lol. i just didnt want to argue with dumb.
Just to clarify, by freezing applications it doesn't remove them, it just stops them from taking up system resources?

Correct.
All i have to say is one thing and hope this guy can comprehend .... If root is pointless to "freeze/disable" apps and only for flashing roms... then explain to us how you can disable Verizon apps without root (like VZ Backup Assistant) cause without root, the disable button is gone or grayed out.
wow...came here to see what apps people had uninstalled (instead of just freezing them) and all i got was dumber!
so...to try to salvage this thread....
what apps have you uninstalled without issue?
thanks
