Can someone please tell me how to get the Motorola Photon into diag mode?
I was trying the method of the droid 2 thinking that since its a Motorola phone, the method would be the same. NO LUCK. I was waisting my time on this for hours. PLEASE HELP.
I want to be able to connect it to CDMA Workshop or QPST in order to change the PRL on the phone.
Thanks in advance.

Not ##diag#, try to do this first, then connect usb? I did on evolution 3d, it worked fine. I haven't tried on Photon yet.
I tried that first thing but it did not work.

##DATA# is not for diag mode at all.
I just got my Photon today and was in serious need of this myself and managed to figure it out.
Power down the phone then plug into usb on the computer. Hold volume down and power to get into the bootloader. Press down until you see. BP Tools then press volume up. The DIAG drivers will install. Thats it. You can use QPST or CDMA Workshop just like any other phone. You just have to boot into BP Tools.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it and I got QPST to see my diag port. However it says No phone and does not let me go into programing. Do I have to turn USB debugging on or off (I tried both ways).
Any idea on what I am doing different than what you did, that mine is not working?
Thanks again.

I did have debugging on. Also it seems to me that you have to turm it off and start BP Tools every time or it'll say no phone. I used qpst to flash the 000001 prl last night though so it does work.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
So to recap:
Turn debugging on
Turn phone off
Plug in usb
Hold down while pressing power
Press down till you see bp tools
Press up
Wait till phone boots with diag drivers
You will see in port list the diag port
In qpst add that port and you should see the photon there.
Did I skip anything? Which drivers did you use?
Thanks again

The drivers are preinstalled. They should install on the computer when you hit volume up. You wont have to add a port on qpst. Just use the one that shows.

Where would one get that prl and why would one want it? Isn't that just a roaming list? What benefit does it give us?

Google 000001 prl. It makes the phone use Verizons towers all the time. It doesn't roam. I get all my bars all the time when I used to get only 1 or 2. There are other prls too but I've always used that one.

It may not have a camera button, but you can use the vol-up/vol-down buttons together to work as a select button in certain situations.
So I'm trying to flash back to stock so I can give the phone to my younger brother as I've recently gotten a new phone, the only problem is that RSD Lite is not detecting my phone at all. I have all the drivers installed so I'm not sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I did look back to see if anyone has had the same problem as me, but nothing in those threads has helped me so here I am.

Well, I do believe my Droid DNA is bricked, soft or hard, I'm not sure because the only thing I can enter is the fastboot menu.
So, I've been trying to run the RUU.exe but it just sits there on the sending screen. Tried a couple of times. Literally waited for hours to see if the RUU would finish but it only finishes when the DNA battery gives out. So, I'm not sure what to do.
I believe it it either one of 3 things (but i could be wrong on all 3 accounts) :
1) Drivers not installed correctly. When running adb reboot fastboot command, it doesn't recognize device. I know that could also mean that the USB Debugging isnt on, but it should be. Can't really go into it to check, but it was on before DNA bricked.
2) Something wrong with the physical phone (software or hardware wise idk) or
3) The Android sdk stuff dled, but i doubt that. I used a DNA tool, not Hasoon2000's tool but another one, and when i tried to do a command, the fastboot.exe stopped respoinding.
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 : just putting that out there.
Thanks for looking and any help you can offer.

How did you brick your phone? Did your phone ever update to 2.04 or 2.06? The ruu only works on 1.15 or if you can install the eng hboot and downgrade from 2.xx to 1.15 and then ruu will work.
Well problem solved and thanks for all your help.
All I did was change the usb cable and that did it. Sadly, I wish is thought if it sooner.

The exact technicality of switching usb and it effecting the RUU, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can inform u with that info.
As for the usb, I used a Samsung Brightside 2 usb. Didn't have the DNA one. All I can say is this: Make sure you are on Windows 7 or earlier and try switching usb cables.

well its still working for me so there is something on your device that is causing the issue.
if you have a 3rd party dialer app, that could be the culprit.

Why do you guys keep saying ##DATA# works for you, when he's clearly looking for ##DIAG#? Two completely different things. I am having the same issue. I hope a solution is found.
