restore user data - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm kinda new to this and was wondering is there a app that would save my user data and restore it after a data wipe when updating or changing ROM's
Thanks

I recommend Titanium Backup, saved me a lot of time when switching between ROMs.

[Q] Using Titanium Backup and restoring after SBF upgrade

Those of you who are using TB to backup your apps and system data before proceeding to a new flash ---- when restoring, do you restore Apps AND System Data?
Anyone know if there is a drawback to doing this? It sure is convenient and keeps system settings, etc ... but since we are flashing to a new SBF, i'm wondering if we're mixing and matching old system data with new one ... any thoughts?
I am restoring only new apps and data, doing it atbleast twice a day and works great so far
Moved as not android development.
i restored only the user installed apps and data, not the system data and it worked great when i flashed the the original sbf and then installed the update

[Q] samsung galaxy s 2 restoring nandroid backup

Hi guys,
I am facing a very curious and seemingly common problem.I have litening rom installed on my gs2. Now i want to change the ROM but dont want to lose my data. Taking a nandroid backup I noticed that there is a special option in CWM called advanced restore.Using that you can restore parts of your nandroid backup instead of taking a full restore.
Now my question is that, once I have installed a new ROM can I take a restore of only the data part of my nandroid backup to my current ROM? The backup was taken when I had litening ROM installed. Will it return all my apps , app data and other things as they were with litening rom to my new ROM ?
You should have used Titanium Backup to restore apps and app data, restoring system data across different ROMS is not typically recommended but can be done, it is totally up to you. Nonetheless, your best bet to restore any or all of this is not a nandroid backup, that is best for restoring an entire ROM, to restore just apps or data or whatever, use Titanium Backup. So my advice would be, create another nandroid of your new ROM, restore back to your old ROM, download Titanium backup, backup apps and data using that. Restore back to new ROM, download titanium backup and choose option, restore missing apps and data.

[Q] Titanium Restore

Hello,
After changing Rom from X to Y. Do I restore all user apps+system data? only user apps?
Please clarify.
Thanks
Oren
Do not restore system data if changing firmware .

Titanium Restore
So how do I restore the settings? My desktop, all the configurations?
What exactly should I restore?
It's never a good idea to restore apps AND DATA, just apps, if you also restore data you will likely get FC's particulary if your moving to a new ROM or new formware.

ok i have a question for you..when i go to restore apps through TB i always do the first one..restoring missing apps with data....is that good or bad? and didnt TB had an option were you could only restore apps with out the data? or im i being mistaken
Restore "apps with data" isn't the same as "system data," AFAIK.
I've always restored apps with data without incident.
I always restore apps with data but never system data just to be sure. I use Go launcher EX and all my desktops end up exactly as they were (exept for some widgets, but that's unimportant). The only thing i have to do is reconfigure some of the settings, basic things like ringtone, disable haptic feedback, etc...

[Q] How to backup data usage on ICS with TB?

Quick question about switching ROMs

If I am switching ROMs of the same build, lets say CM10 7/23 build to a future unofficial CM10 build, would it be necessary to do a data wipe and factory reset?
Necessary? Probably not. A good idea? Probably yes.
Okay so similarly if I go to CM10 from another Rom wipe data and reset... but if I backup my with Titanium Backup what is recommended to be restored after flash? All system data + apps + app data, just apps and data or just apps. If I have contacts backed up to email etc, photos and such data stored elsewhere... would it be recommended to use the least amount of data restored from last install to the new Rom? I just donr want to load wrong values upon restoring my apps. I don't mind if app data or system data is factory reset but not if unnecessary and only if its not a prob and won't mess up any Ron specific settings.
