Hi,
previsouly i used GMail app which later i found that it does miss a important functionality - NOT ABLE TO ATTACH DOCS - so i dumped it....
after that i moved to Stock email app which i found very nice and clean in terms of UI and performance. but now i have found that its not syncing the subfolders / lables in gmail id....Also if i opne the subfolders the little refresh button will spin and it will then show the new mails, but it wont show any new email count in the sub folders as it shows in the inbox....
any one encountered this, or is anyother way to resolve this issue.....i am on stock rom itself....
Any one pls help me !!!.....

it's not possible with stock mail
try k9 or thunder something...
I can attach any file to Gmail with "Root Explorer" app popping up a an option for attaching. I use "Download All Files" app for download attachments to phone or sdcard.

Also having the same issue with the default email client on my Galaxy S2.
Looking for an app that can sync emails (including subfolders), contacts, calender entries and tasks (for MS Exchange)
Any suggestions?
Hey I am trying to find out where these contacts are going within this particular application "sms go pro" from android market - this is probably the best SMS manager than the stock (I can disable bubbles and actually get an inbox/outbox/sent/deleted message tree folder system...)
I let this app manage my incoming/outgoing/etc sms's but apparently the contacts that I add to the phone are not showing up in the main call/dialer contact list... I have no idea where these are - I tried import/export .vcf to the SD card but they're not there...
Look on the market page for the app. I would email the dev.

IS it possible to use the CM7 mail app on CM9? If not - can anyone suggest any alternatives which offer Exchange Activesync?
The newest stock mail app isn't very good - it doesn't notify new mails received to subfolders, only the root inbox.
Many thanks
Bump!
I can confirm the CM7 email.apk doesn't work on CM9 - any suggestions / alternative?
Bump! ^
To answer my own question.
This is a failing of the ICS stock email app - and the only free one to have proper ActiveSync support.
To confirm - it will sync the contents of subfolders, however it will NOT provide subfolder notifications.
The only solution was a 3rd party one:

Hi guys,
many users (myself included) are very disappointed with the fact that most android tablets don't show the people/Contacts app in the app drawer.
I know its a tablet and its understandable that phone app is hidden but we still need contacts to email, facebook, etc...
In my case the app is there. I've checked /system/app and contacts along contact sync are there. I can even acess contacts if I search a contact name in a Google search box and it leads me to the contacts app.
so the big question is: how do we force the app to show in app drawer or create somekind of desktop shortcut to access it ?
best regards,
remorema
anyone?!?!?!
Hi there.
I want to set Whatsapp as default messaging.
I go to Settings > Wireless & Networking, > default SMS app. It only gives me the choice of Hangouts or Messaging. What gives?
Rooted stock 4.4, Nexus 4.

Whatsapp isnt capable of sending SMS's, it sends its message over data.

I have the same problem with my stock Nexus 4 with KitKat. When accessing non-whatsapp contacts from within whatsapp it defaults to the standard messaging app. There is no way of making it default.
My wife has an old HTC Wildfire running eclair and on that you can set whatsapp as default.

As @Anthropostar said above, whatsapp does not do SMS - it "uses" the phone number to identify contacts but all messages are sent via internet data, not over gsm etc.

Hi, I know whatsapp uses data to send messages but you can't send to non whatsapp contacts in KitKat. You can with older builds. (Sent over data - received over SMS)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
it's work for me
goto contacts and select contact click send message and select whatsapp
My apologies.
Whatsapp was sending over SMS on the wildfire.
