Unfortunately, this app is not available in my country! Can someone try this and post their findings?
Here you go Perfect app, great finding man, congrats!
Agreed, very nice find.
i was waiting for something like this ...very cool app..
It seems to work great!

Very nice app.
Thanks for post something about it.
I'm told that it's incompatible with the Atrix
The latest release notes specifically say it added Motorola Atrix with fingerprint scanning.
This app is awesome!

This app uses the newly release Fingerprint Scanner SDK by AuthenTec. I'm using it right now in my application GibberTalk, and if you are a dev, it's not hard to implement.
Good find, it was a huge disappointment to find the fingerprint scanner could only be used to lock the phone.
Wow, very nice. I've been searching for an app lock like this. Thanks.
Edit: well it worked for me yesterday, but now the fingerprint scanner force closes and it doesn't lock my apps. Sad, I got hopeful!
I set it for the Text Messaging app, but for some reason if I keep hitting 'cancel' couple times it still showing the content.

strange that it only ask you to scan one finger for they key but then i can use either hand to unlock.
Worked great for me yesterday, but now when it goes to the fingerprint scanner, it immediately FCs (without an actual FC message) so I have to log into my apps using my full email and psswd. I've disabled it now, hoping they fix this little bug.
This is dope

Hey guys I know I may sound completely noobish but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use the fingerprint reader for more than security. What I had in mind specifically was maybe as a scroll wheel of sorts? I'm no programmer but wondering if anyone's working on something like that.
Thanks

Most aftermarket browsers will allow you to set the volume buttons to scroll, but using the fingerprint reader would be impractical since you would have to leave it running all the time. It would put a pretty hefty drain on the battery. Good idea though, and as always, I could be wrong about this in every way.
I was thinking more like profiles so unknown fingerprints would open a blank phone. Or certain apps like email, sms, etc could be locked individually.

Great ideas...only problem with this one would be a bad swipe by the actual owner and we would have to lock and unlock..I like the idea of utilizing the swipe for other functions though. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.

I would lovvvee to see a locater app that takes a finger print if the phone was stolen, along with taking front and rear facing images and satellite location. Zip it all up and submit to police, done.

That is a good idea, though I wonder how we'd tell the phone that it had been stolen, versus the owner simply making bad swipes on the reader.
Anyway, as an alternative to that, in case you guys don't already know this, if you're signed up for MyMotoblur (Motorola's owner's website), Motorola has a free service where you can locate your Atrix on a Google Map. It's pretty cool. It also allows you to transfer contacts to your phone OTA, and remotely wipe your data.
The way you could tell it was stolen would be a web interface that would allow you to "report phone as stolen" and it would then take pictures/location/swipe data and email it to your registered email address.

Great idea.
Another thing , is there a way to save passwords on the Atrix and later on have the browser auto fill them once you use the fingerprints reader?
For example , my bank web site requires password. It would be great if I could enter the username+password once and later on use my finger and have the browser auto-complete them.
Is it doable ?
All great ideas, we just need the boot loader unlocked!

Having been robbed at gunpoint for a phone before, I think this is a wonderful idea.
The only other thing I found out about the fingerprint reader was that you can also use it to hang up when you press it when youre in the middle of calling someone. I dont remember quite how I got to the setting for that though...

GREAT Idea with the profiles.
Would be awesome to create a 'guest' profile where only certain apps appear, no e-mail, text, call logs, contacts, etc.... pretty much only allow access to certain apps and features that you choose(like games, music, web browser, etc.) so that when I let someone use my phone i don't have to worry about them seeing sensitive data.... GREAT idea!!!!
This doesn't seem like it would be the hardest thing to create, but I'm guessing it would have to be rooted and coded into the ROM?? Any insight?
now that we have 2.34 will we see more apps that use this sensor?
http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/library/writing-fingerprint-enabled-apps/
Probably. In terms of what? who knows.
Can't think of any useful apps that could use the sensor!
A secret agent Tegra 2 game where you have to "steal" enemies fingers to get access to the next room?? Hmm one can only imagine..

a password app that you can use certain sites with your fingerprint (banking etc)
Yes!
This is used in laptops with FPSensor.
All the passes are stored in a fp program, and what you have to do, is slide your finger, and your pass is filled.
It may be difficult, but its an ecxellent idea

DataDefender (by AuthenTec) is on the market now, using the fingerprint reader. The app is like typical "application launch protection" apps out there, but on the Atrix it allows verification of the fingerprint in addition to the standard options (PIN/Password/Pattern).
Can any one tell me that these fingerprint apps really works or not ? 5 Best Fingerprint Lock Apps for Android.

Last three are just to fool people, I think the first one is to customise the lock screen. Haven't tried the 2nd one. Anyways my fingerprint scanner doesn't work as I'm on cm9
So my gf uses my phone occasionally. I use the fp scanner to lock and unlock it. Is there a way to store more then one set of fingerprints?
This would be cool if someone could implement it.
Easy quick fix. It asks to scan both of your index fingers. Only scan one of yours and then scan the gf's.

oooh, will check out. ta
ok, that didn't work for some reason. wouldn't enable. "FaceLock for apps" works fine free ver limited to 1 app and market/settings etc.
I used it more than a month ago, i was able to select every app i wanted to 'facelock' this may have changed with a recent update though.
Sorry i cannot help you further.
You could try typing face unlock or something like that into the market.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I still use Visidon and it lets me face protect any app I wish, I did have to do the 'face training' before it would let me enable that feature though, I have been using it for a few weeks and there hasn't been a recent update that I have noticed.
maybe it's an ICS thing, or the density i run the phone at. either way, it wouldn't let me enable it
i'm in work tonight so will give it a shot again.
Anyone able to successfully scan barcodes using the GS4 camera?
Yes. I have. What app are you using?
Key Ring -- I had to put it into "legacy" mode for the scanner to work. Also tried WW Scanner without success.
I upgraded from a Rezound where these apps worked properly, so I'm not sure why they aren't working on the GS4.
Well I downloaded both of those to see if I got the same results. I too had to use legacy mode with key ring. I don't have a login for WW so I wasn't able to test that yet. Someone is emailing me her login so I can try the app.
I did have success scanning with Google Goggles, QR Reader, Barcode Scanner, and the Best Buy app so far.
Interesting... thanks for the update and I look forward the results from your future tests. I'll keep working on it on this end as well.
Hey, so I had a chance today to play around with the WW Scanner. I got some mixed results. The first couple of items I scanned worked just fine. A couple of canned items took a while to read. It just kept refocusing. It never scanned a couple of items, and took a few tries on a few items. It would have been a lot faster to enter the barcode on a few that eventually worked. I also tested the barcodes on those same trouble items with other scanner apps and they picked up just fine. That makes me think it is just an issue with the scanner on the WW app. The app itself is very neat, but if it doesn't scan right away, you might save some time by entering it manually.
Hope this helps!
I'm confused, why would you use anything other than Neoreader?

The Key Ring app was allegedly fixed with version 7.0.2. Haven't tried it yet.
