I _think_ I am seeing that the 16 GB Wifi only Flyer isn't yet supported by Revolutionary? It's got the right HBOOT (1.10) - but when I try it, I don't get the success message, nor S-off.
Is there some vector that _does_ work? RUU update to another version, etc?
If so, what version?
Did you follow all the steps to include downloading the fastboot drivers from and disabling HTC Synch? Also what error is it giving you and when is it giving it?

The WiFi Flyer is supported!
And when you read the thread you can see that many are succesfull rooted their WiFi Flyer. There is self a custom ROM for the WiFi version.
You must have make something wrong...
I did exactly what the steps said (sorta - I was on linux, no driver issue there).
Those that have done the WiFi version - what software revision (not HBOOT) was it? My device(s) are 100% unupdated (1.35.1504 or something, not one I've seen anywhere else). I guess it's gold-carding time. In that case, what RUU from the list is _confirmed_ to work, that's WiFi?

I'm afraid to try revolutionary and brick it. If you want to give it a try I can try with you. I did see a post talking about gold card. I already got the app and I think I have micro SD laying around.
My flyer is a 16GB US Wifi US model, bought at BestBuy in June.
S-Off and rooting working like a charm.
Be sure you uninstall all HTC related stuff first from your computer, reboot, and then install the suggested driver.
You really should not have any problems.

Agreed...I'm kind of pumped...actually I'm really pumped. I've been compulsively checking twitter, xda, and alpharev/unrevoked websites all day.
They updated the site now, they have announced what it is
Seems to be out, who is gonna test it
Needs HBOOT 1.10.0000 - imho only for those flyers with the OTA Update 2.00.405.3
I tried it and got S-off
How long did it take for it to complete for you? Also did you download and install the drivers they had linked? I have drivers already installed and the tool finds and identifies my device but I don't know if I should remove the drivers I have installed and use the ones they link to. Also do I need to restart the View into fastboot before running the tool?
I used Ubuntu, so simple to do in Ubuntu
Yep, works!
S-off without any probs.
Installed CMR right away.
Cheers,
Ralle

I never got the ota and I'm still on 1.10, plus for those who aren't it looks like it supports the view that has the 1.13 hboot so I think we should be alright.
EDIT: It worked like a charm...I love ubuntu..
I got S-Off on my view. Now does anybody know if there is a recovery image that will work with it? Cant flash the zip to getroot until we have a recovery image for the view.

I never got a system ota, the only ota I got was the live viewer. I've been 1.10 since the get go.
AlphaRev always does version checking, so if I had to guess it probably just means that they didn't have one to test it on. If I was you, I would drop them a line on irc, twitter, or their website and ask them about support for 1.07

On ubuntu it asked me if I wanted to download the clockwork mod recovery for the flyer, did the view not have one? Also, teamwin just published a new recovery image so you may ask agrabren on twitter if there is a possibility of a view compatible recovery image, I'm not sure if theirs is specifically for the evo 3d or not.
I wasn't aware that there was a CWM recovery for the Flyer?
Also, I think you can still flash a new rom with only s-off, you just have to name it to the name of the update file..
I am stuck at: Acquiring root (Method 3)
It's been stuck there for quite some time now...
Mine has been sitting on "Acquiring root <method 3>... for a long time. Is this normal? Did you experience them same?
Do you have the view or the flyer? Flashing from windows or linux?
Hi.. I cannot seem to root my evo 3d. I have rooted it before, but since i havent gotten completely rid off it, and i have s-on again. I did this for a personal problem. But now.. revolutionary will not root my phone. It just says "This device is not supported." Im not sure why this happens, because I used it before. Any help?
And when I type adb devices in a command prompt, it shows my device. So im pretty sure its not because of my drivers.
what version is your hboot? It's my understanding that Revolutionary uses the hboot version to decide whether or not to work. If your hboot version is 1.xx.1000 instead of 1.xx.0000, then it will not work.
i don't mean to thread jack, but i'm having the same sort of problem with my sensation. going to copy a post from another thread to here:
it started to work at first, input the beta key and it started to process (method 3) then after a little bit it says it lost connection. the FAQ said to uninstall any apps that may try to connect through USB and sync anything, and i remembered i still had HTC sync on my phone. uninstalled it, then went to run revolutionary again and now it says my device is not supported. my hboot version doesn't match. guess i'm SOL for now?

So, I have tried very very hard to fix this, but now I'm out of ideas completely.
My problem is that I have no clue how to get from the ICS RUU leak to the most recent software update from HTC. There probably is a way to do it, but that isn't the only problem. I have no cable to do it with and my phone constantly restarts due to jacked software installation. So please, anybody who can assist me I would forever love you and such.
Thanks anybody
Also don't hate me if this belongs in Q&A, I wasn't sure.

I worded that bad. I have a cable, but it doesn't have the ability to transfer data between my phone and any computer. (I don't have the original cable, it was replaced by a mini-usb)
EDIT: I also can transfer data from my SD card to my computer, just not directly through the phone.

You can't go back to the latest GB RUU from the leaked ICS RUU. This is because the new RUU has a higher HBOOT version than the old, and even though you can reduce your mainver, you can't go back to an older HBOOT. You do have some options though:
1) Try to fix the issues you are having by reflashing the leaked RUU.
2) Wait for the ICS OTA, and you should be able to upgrade to that
3) Beta testing for Juopunutbear S-Off is now over, and it has been proven successful. Once this method is released, you can do it to your phone, and once you have S-Off, you should be able to run downgrade your HBOOT and run any RUU (newer or older) that you want.

I need some help, and as I always say I don't ask for help unless I really can't find a solution. I tried unlocking my bootloader using the HTCDev method, but when I try to flash the unlock code bin file it gets stuck saying its sending and never moves. Same happened weeks back with my HTC Mytouch 4g Slide and I had somehow got it to work after fiddling here and there. I have HTC Sync uninstalled (I even reinstalled it to uninstall it again and keep the drivers) and I even eliminated my PDANet which seems to cause issues in situations like this. Rebooted my computer literally over 10 Times, same bull. I just can't remember how I got it working on my MyTOUCH. SO...I'm on hboot 2.09 and was wondering if these files would downgrade the hboot or something. All drivers seem to be proper, so I don't see why I'm having issues. I'm familiar with the adv and fastboot tools, I even made the android folder on the main harddrive directory that every post recommends , have the unlock_code.bin there but its the issue of not pushing. I have an old PC but if it worked on my MyTOUCH at one point I doubt it has anything to do with it.
So I wanted to know if its possible to downgrade the hboot to use a different method.
The method of rooting the phone is the same regardless of Hboot, so downgrading won't help you. Click the link in my sig and go to the section that contains the bootloader unlocking tools. Click on the WinDroid toolkit and see if you have any luck with that, instead.

Not root, unlocking the bootloader. It says Sending and never does a thing. It should say Okay immediately after pushing the file but its not doing anything for me. Its supposed to quickly give you a disclaimer on your phone to select whether or not to unlock the BL, but all my phone does is sit in fastboot mode. So I wanted to know if these stock restore things can downgrade the HBOOT as well so I can unlock it in a different manner instead of HTCDev's method. I've been stuck with a locked bootloader for a week since purchasing this phone. My MyTouch4g slide had the same issue but I had done something that got it going, in this case, I've tried everything. Also these self made executable programs like WinDroid give me a "not a valid Win32 application" message on my laptop. They just won't run at all.

There is no other method to unlock the bootloader aside from HTC Dev. Doesn't matter what Hboot version you're on or what software version you have. Even programs like regaw_leinad's toolkit uses HTC Dev-it just automates the entire process.

Bought it new, came faulty, sent for repair. Came back, new issues, right back to HP, so I'm using this wifiless crap for now. I haven't bothered buying it a WiFi adaptor since its so darn old. if it is of any concern my s-on shows RL after it?
Why don't you just do the RUU back to factory stock and try it from the beginning? It seems like it might save you some time over trying to troubleshoot what is actually wrong.
Try rumrunner again. That's what finally worked for me one time. Rumrunner didn't take the first time and it didn't make a difference running it a second or third time. Firewater didn't work either, but I had success when I went back to rumrunner.
My worthless theory is that, for whatever reason, RR wasn't able to complete a specific critical step, but that FW was able to handle it. But then FW encountered issues on a subsequent step. Going back to RR worked because, this time, FW already took care of the task that RR couldn't do the first time around.
Of course I don't have a stack of evo's sitting around waiting to be s-offed, so I didn't get much of a chance to test my theory. I seem to remain s-off now even after ruu.
Remember to wipe well. It will help prevent a stinky ROM as well as awkward social situations.
I ruu to the one that had sence 5 and then rooted and ran Firewater (2 TIMES) and I'm good! Thank you for all your help
