HTC EVO 3d perks root and supra ROM. There is no option for speeds over stock in setcpu. When I was permanent temp I could go 1.8. I did search and haven't found much. Do I need to edit a txt file?

I'm trying to understand what ya asking......are u saying that u flashed the supra ROM, and now trying to set turn clock speed with setcpu?.....cause if so, the supra ROM only uses a stock kernel.....

You probably used the insmod command from the overclock thread or maybe my Bloat Remover tool that had the overclock feature in it. But now that we are S-OFF, you can just flash a custom kernel. Look in the Dev section, there are a few in there.

I can flash both versions is that possible? It must be because I can haha.

Any ideas from any of the devs?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Great you can flash roms. You do realize you are using 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 which ever you flashed last. Please tell me you don't think you are using both roms at the same time.
Hahaha yeah I know I'm not using them at the same time, I was on a 2.3.4 rom then I flashed a 2.3.3 rom, I didn't think u could go back and forth ,just one or the other.

Yeah i never knew you could do that cause I took the newest ota and I have hboot 1.50 and unlocked my phone through HTC
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Yeah some great Dev's here, cant wait to try out the 2.3.4 kernel when someone completes one!
No kidding seems like every week something new comes out
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Were you s-off before you took the ota?? You may be able to flash a 2.3.3 rom, but you won't be able to flash the kernel so the rom may not fully work. Most people that try find out wifi won't work along with other problems. The hboot 1.5 won't let you write to certain system partitions and the kernel is one of those.
Yeah I was s-off b4 I took the OTA, then I did the HTC unlock method when it finished it didn't reboot so I took the battery out and went into recovery and it said unlocked in the pink banner and s-off lol seems like I ghetto rooted my phone. Never had any problems flashing anything yet
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
That's why your able to flash older roms, you were already s-off. All others that started out with hboot 1.5 and used HTC's unlocker can't flash 2.3.3 roms and have everything work right because they can't install a 2.3.3 kernel. Since you were already s-off you must still have write capability to those locked partitions.
Well that makes sense thanks cruise for your info
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Have you been able to flash a 2.3.5 ROM. I see that some newer ROMs are being built on that?
Yeah I can flash 2.3.5 roms it will be sweet when they get sound working

You can with.a dual boot manager.

I'm looking for a decent Rom with both working WiFi and WiMAXif anyone could recommend one it would be a great help.
Not sure if you have a cdma evo 3D but if you do I would use plain rooted stock or mean rom.
CDMA mean ROM for sure its the best daily driver I've had in a very long time

SteelROM...
Viper Rom, not as fast as Mean rom but still has some power = no lag. Also it removes the lines that appear on the paginated app drawer when you use the tweaks to remove paginated app drawer. Lines still there on Mean rom
SteelRom definitely

You want good battery life and WiFi go for a stockish rom I wouldn't go for a oc rom for a first rom until you do a lot of reading on things

Oc can be good safe but does use more battery if it is running all the time along with more heat . Depends on the settings and the kernel.

Not really sure why you would need this being soff, when you install a rom the kernel is installed as well. Being soff you would just need the z image. Note this is for ICS not jb

Could do that but it's for my brother's phone I rooted it and all for him on viper 4g and has the aroma installer, he is new to android and I'm gonna talk him through installing it over the phone, just easier that way till he gets the hang of it.

So ever since I S-Offed, I've been using it to flash multiple Sense kernels (Bulletproof, ArcReactor, etc.) And I've been experiencing constant random reboots and it then giving the notification that the values weren't applied properly after a bad restart. Is anyone else getting these notifications or are they a product of me constantly flashing one on top of the other (wiping Dalvik cache and cache beforehand though)

Oh yeah, I'm currently running Elemental X 4.2 at stock frequencies on the "Erie" I/O and "intellidemand" governor, although even switching it around to the other governor/I/Os are giving me the reboot issues

My phone has been acting a lil funny to. Don't wanna bad mouth anybodies kernal, but if somebody out there has the stock kernal for 3.16 I'd be really grateful.

Just curious...that thread says 2.13. Is it the same kernal as 3.16?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Weirdly enough I think I solved the issue: I've been using No-frills CPU Control for my kernel customizations and always check the "apply at boot" option, I unchecked it this morning and I haven't gotten ANY random reboots. If you have that option clicked, try unclicking it and see what happens, it seems to have solved the problem for me

You may have to flash a completely new ROM and just keep it at that (reflash your current Sense ROM and just keep the stock kernel on it)

Like a rooted stock Rom right? The trick is just finding one that the kernal hasn't been changed to a custom one.

I'm on sense 5, .42 arc reactor kernel,
While using kernel tuner or setcpu I set my frequency to 1.8 as the max. Everything works fine for a little bit then after a few minutes I check back and it is set back down to 1.5? I've cleared cache and fixed permissions as well as restarting my phone.. any help?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
A little bit more info is needed, are you s-off? what Rom are you running? Mean Bean has a script that sets everything at 1.5 or 1.7 depending on your sticky settings, Viper rom has a daemon that controls the over clock, governor, etc...
edit: my bad just read your post, if you are on sense 5 there was an edit that you had to do in the init.qcom.posboot.sh for your OC to stick, depending on the release that you are using...
I am currently s-off, and on sense 5. I am not so inclined on going about doing that? Lol ... How would you recommend me doing that, can I do that through my phone without the need for a computer?

Which Sense 5 revision are you on? There were issues with CPU frequencies sticking on some of the older revisions, but has since been fixed as of r141. I'm running it now and am no longer having issues with the CPU frequencies sticking.
