Considering the x10 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My Acer Liquid E had a recent battle with gravity and a sidewalk. Sadly, the Liquid was the loser. My carrier has a list of replacement phones that includes the x10, and I was hoping perhaps one of you folks might be able to give me an idea of how the x10 compares. I know, for instance, that the x10 has less ram than the liquid, so I'm a bit worried that I may notice a drop in performance. Is there anyone who may have experience with the liquid who would be able to comment?
Also, how is the build quality? And sound quality? Would you recommend this handset?
Thanks in advance

As we hve got the x10 GB update ,its not that laggy.U can try custom ROM which has no lag what so ever..
Music sound quality is good.
One of the best phone camera.
I would recommend u to go for it.

get something newer; the x10 is outdated now. there are cheaper android phones that are better. e.g in australia; the lg optimus black is on a $25 plan while the samsung galaxy s is on the $29 plan. u can also get 2 samsung galaxy s2' s on a $85 plan lols.
OT: to answer your question; yes the x10 is better than the acer
BUT other options have superseded it in terms of performance and value

Thanks for the advice. Sadly, my choices are currently limited. My carrier offers only specific phones for their handset replacement plan:
X10, Del Streak, Nokia E5, LG 60, Nokia N97, Motorola Quench, Samsung Wave, Blackberry 9300 or 9800, and iphone 3G. Not a lot of options until I'm ready for a renewal. Not sure why it's limited to these phones only, but unless I'm willing to pay full price, these are my only offerings. (April 2012, I'll be trading up )

I'd say go for the x10, it seems to be the best option there, unless your into 5in screens (dell streak )
With the new gingerbread out, there is virtually no lag at all!
Display, sound and build quality are great. Battery life is good. One thing you should be aware of however, the in call volume is unusually low, its hard to hear who you're talking to in loud environments.
Plus its virtually impossible to brick

My short list was the x10 and the Streak. But I'm not sure if I could fit the Streak in my pocket! Lol... The form factor between the Sony and the Acer seems pretty similar, so at least know it'll feel more natural in my hands.
Thanks again for the tips, everyone! I'll be back here in 5 - 7 business days to join you

Good to hear

[Q] X10a or Captivate?

Hey guys, Since ATT just got the X10 I was wondering which is better. My contract expires in a few days so I have some time to see which I like better. Right now I'm using an iPhone and hating it. I want something with android.
I love SE, I bought an original X1 right out of the gates, so I'm leaning a bit towards the X10 but I'm seeing that it might not have any additional benefit over the Captivate other than the awesome camera.
Help please? I travel a lot and will be going to college soon so I need a phone that will keep up with me, all day.
why not the EVO 4g? much better than both, but if you don't like that one go for the captivate
ATT is the best around here. We literally get full bars everywhere lol! Ok, so that's one for the Samsung...
If you're going to be using your phone outdoors a lot, get the X10. Samsung has the better screen, but it's OLED so when you're outside, it maybe really hard to see. But X10 screen is good as well. If you're concerned about aesthetics, I think X10 is the best looking phone there is, otherwise go for the Samsung.
The x10 is a great phone but if the captivate is anything like the galaxy s then i would go for the captivate.
i am also looking at the two phone and also iphone 4 when my contract is expiring.
Things I like about the sony is the physical call and off button. Also, I think the phone has higher res camera and also 2 camera.
I think captivative overall has a better hardware: 802.11n, larger storage space, better music playback software, bluetooth 3.0. android 2.1
I know sony will upgrade to android 2.1 or maybe 2.2 and samsung is coming out 2.2. So I think the software is not a major issue now.
hard to make a choice between the 3 phones.

Once they reduce that capital letters SAMSUNG logo in front, I'll recommend it. But for now, I'll say go for White X10, cool design...
No its Super AMOLED and its very visible outside in bright sunlight.
To the OP, just determine what you need in a device and use them both in the store. For the record, the Captivates GPS is broken and there is no camera flash. The Captivate has features that the X10 doesn't have. However the X10 will receive some of those features in a future update such as 720P video recording and Android 2.1. The Captivate has these features out of the box. My advice is to do some research online and dont rely purely on our recommendation.

the only thing going for the Captivate is the screen...and only when viewing media or playing games etc. As for reading text, the X10's screen is much sharper. The build quality is much higher on the X10 too, the Galaxies get scratched real easy, just read some reviews. For me, the Galaxy Captivate/Vibrant looks like it's trying to be an iPhone which is blasphemous in my opinion lol. Not to mention the fact that everyone in the world will own some form of the Galaxy in the coming months. So if you want to have a unique and very stylish device with amazing hardware, definitely X10 because after the 2.1 update (hopefully Froyo eventually too) the software side of things won't be any different...otherwise you'll be left with a scratched up iPhone wannabe.
Thanks for the advice guys. I played with the X10 and I was very impressed, I guess ATT only offers it in black (sorry man), but I agree it looks damn fine. The camera was awesome and the media features were great. But the thing that sold me was that everything is solid and doesn't feel cheap. Just like my X1i, everything felt good, not gimmicky like my iPhone or the Captivate. I asked the guy in the store and he said go captivate but I real liked the x10. The screen in the cap was almost obnoxiously bright and the icons were cartoonish and silly.
Now, my only concern is android 1.6. Rumor is it'll be updated, but for the next month or 2 can I survive with it? I used to be a WM junkie, but lately I have been spoiled by my iPhone so I don't know how android works :/
BTW, the north American version doesn't have 2 cams, only 1 and there isn't a physical call button. But atleast there is a camera button, I loved that.
well i do not know of any X10 with 2 cameras
I don t get this GPS problem, I dont have it on my Galaxy S, why don t you bring the phone back for repair? (or have you tried that already)
i guess I was wrong about the camera.
Based on what I read, 2.1 is coming soon and Sony may even jump to 2.2 but you never konw. Loosk like manufacturers are a bit slow bringing 2.2 to the market. it's quite surprising to see Sony has not yet release 2.1 or 2.2 at all because Xperia was out like last year as oppose to Captivative that was out reently.
it seems to me that a lot of these phone, the softwrae is wehre it sets one from another. Samsung did a decent job with captivate so is Sony. But sony really neeed to get 2.1 or 2.2 out so it can really take the power of teh hardare.

Lot of people are complaining about the GPS problem or low build quality of Galaxy S
Lot of people are complaining about low sound volume in call of X10.
You don't have problems with GPS.
I don't have problems with my X10.
This means this problems are not there?
Well, I bought the Captivate on day 1. I had to replace it on day 3. I just returned it on day 29 and picked up the X10.
My observations on the Captivate:
Great screen
Thin design
Junky buttons (don't like soft buttons so much)
Junky PC software
Serious Lag and general OS issues
The GPS is currently broken (does not work 100% as it should)
My observations on the X10 (2-days in):
Great screen (once you disable auto brightness setting)
Great looking (IMO)
Great buttons
Great media player (on phone)
Great companion software on the PC
I haven't really noticed any lag (either on the stock or unbranded ROM)
The GPS works amazingly quickly and accurately
The bottom line for me, and the reason I returned the Captivate, is Samsung has no real history of resolving issues with devices once they are released. I am fairly confident they will resolve the GPS issue but not so confident they will resolve all the other issues plaguing the device. Random resets, inability to wake the phone from a sleep and mysterious shut downs all happened to me. I also had problems with the battery and I just wasn't feeling too warm and fuzzy about Samsung. It's a shame really, it could be a great device. They also used some abnormal file system that is apparently the biggest cause of all the lag on the device.
The Sony device, on the other hand, seems much better thought out and seems like it will last longer as well. The screen is close enough between the two (for me anyway) that it's not really an issue. It's nice having the light on the camera because I can use it with a flashlight app. The additional fact that the PC companion software is so much better than anything I've seen for Android is also reassuring. It seems to me that Sony did a much more thorough job in the R&D stage and Samsung just designed a product that looks good on paper. I am very glad that I returned the Samsung device for the Sony.
BTW, I am not a Sony fanboy by any stretch of the imagination. I just honestly feel like it's the better device overall. It was a very difficult decision to return the Captivate as it does offer some very impressive specs, but in the end I need a device that is reliable and works.
a quick question for anyone who has used both phone, how are the mp3 players on either phone? Can you import your itune playlist without any issue? Also, can you see the lyrics like what you can do with iphone/ipod?
I am considering consolidate my mp3 player (ipod touch) and phone so I am hoping for one that will do everythign I can with my ipod. I konw iphoen does it but I am looking for options.
I really like XPERIA, Captivate looks cheap to me and I don't recommend.. yeah Android 2.2 will be nice on xperia .. hope Sony updates soon

First, ask this question in desire forums ;-)
Second: one thing better in x10 is slightly bigger screen. In practice this means about two lines of book in aldiko. Width and number of pixels are the same.
I have both phones now, first bought x10, then desire...currently looking at one rom per day thanks to easy rom backup. (now: defrost)

Why sell a 7 month old phone just to buy an 8 month old phone?
Try the Desire HD or Desire Z if you want a newer phone.

Camera: complementary and not fundamental to the workings of a smart phone.
Dispaly: 3.8 inch amoled with multitouch better than 4 inch TFT single touch
Rom: I think RAM is more important to the user and the dseire has 512mb compared to the x10 384mb
Battery Lifeurely subjective
Let's not forget that you get froyo and all its goodness on the desire while the x10, save for the devs cracking the bootloader, is destined to die with 2.1. Also HTC sense much better and more functional than the dreary UXP.
I don't think you'll find any review on any of the tech blogs that actually put the x10 ahead of the desire. The desire wins there unanimously.
Having said all that, I think like others who have said, you should wait until q1 next year when newer phones get released and then make your choice. Unless you want to at least get something reasonable back for your x10 before it becomes valueless.
I think that the crux of this question lies in the users needs...
For example.. tell us your top 3 uses of your phone.. (texting, watching video, browsing, streaming video from websites, listening to music, camera..... etc.etc)...
That way you'll get some feedback on the elements that really matter to you rather than having everyone commenting on the elements that matter to them..
For me.. I wouldn't have a Desire.. simply because it's ugly.. but that's just my opinion on a feature of the phone which is important to me.

The Desire loses because it's an old phone. The X10 loses as well.
Why would anyone buy an old phone when the newer version is already on the market?!
Not to mention, the X10's screen absolutely blows the Desire's AMOLED out of the water. There's a reason they changed it to SLCD.
Ive got both these phones at the moment and i have to say, as much as i love the x10 there isnt a hope in hell of me ever using it again. Sense is a better ui, im finding the battery life to be better, has froyo and custom roms, it might just be me but the screen seems more vibrant, i can actually hear the other person, my signal at home now stays on 3g permenantly where it used to drop to 2.5g the majority of the time, the software is a lot smoother and more responsive, the custom htc software like the music app is much better than sonys attempts and it has multitouch. The only thing i miss is the camera and app from the x10 but seeing as i take about 10 photos a year on my phone i think i can live with that.
All of this is just my opinion of course and if you disagree then thats your right but my x10 is being sold pretty soon and ill never be buying se again. The only reason i didnt get a desire hd or z is because for the cost it doesnt seem worth it really, i could get 2 desires for the same price as 1 hd or z.

[Q] - what made you buy an X10

Well... just in a way out of curiosity - what made you think "This is what is missing in my life" of the X10?
For me it was a friend who showed it to me and I tried it - and almost immediately fell in love with it.
Actually this is the second best phone I have owned. The best is the Nokia 3210 - that phone could withstand some serious beatings and "falling-out-of-the-pocket-onto-the-asphalt"!
1. I'm 17
2. Need an upgrade from the LG Vu
3. The chick who sold it was hot
4. Phone looked sexy and was a MAJOR upgrade to a smartphone
I got conned into buying it by the rogers sales man, personally I would have liked to do some more research before buying the phone
I never had a smartphone before my X10. In the past I had feature phones from Nokia, Motorola, and then I had a Sony Ericsson Z525 which I liked.
When the Sony Ericsson X1 first came out, I was impressed. I wanted it, but it was not offered in the United States though one of the major wireless carriers here, so I just kept on using my Z525. When the X2 came along, I thought it was unimpressive so I didn't think about that one much.
I saw videos of the X10 around the time of its release and was impressed by the custom UI so that started up my interest in the XPERIA X-series again. Then as Android became more and more popular, I kept hoping that it would make it to the U.S.. When it finally did, I picked one up for $50.00 (U.S.D.) and have been happy with it.
It's a nice evolutionary kind of product for me. I used to use a PlayStation Portable for mobile gaming, listening to music, and videos. And I used a Sony NAV-U for navigation. Now my X10 is my main portable music player, it's great for watching videos, I have some casual games installed on it, the camera is okay when I'm without my usual digital point-and-shoots, and the free Google Maps/Navigation can't be beat. It's also great to have around for general Web stuff.
The only bummer about the phone is being tied to AT&T:
Who will never offer firmware upgrades to their Android 1.6 X10 customers
Who has no inexpensive unlimited data plan
I'm using the SE generic global 2.1 firmware right now which suits me fine, and I'm patiently waiting for the 2.3 upgrade. The phone may no longer be a high-end device, but it's still sleek looking, has good build quality, performs decently, and does what I need it to do.
1. Loved the design
2. I've been an Ericsson/Sony Ericsson Fanboy since the 90s.
3. I originally wanted a desire but that wasn't available on my network carrier.
4. I've wanted a smart phone. Could never afford UIQ phones (nearly bought an M600 once), never liked S60, WM or ios so Android on SE was a god send.
free and the camera
Its design, white color, and the "Sony" word..
1. Camera
2. Cheaper then the desire and sgs on craigslist when I bought it
Truth be told as soon as I'm eligible for a upgrade through rogers I'm selling my x10

Sony always works great for me. Since I bought my first Z500 almost 10 years ago.
i had a crappy galaxy i7500, needed a new high end smartphone, xperia x10 was a good choice, under circumstances had to get it used, it was the cheapest used high end smartphone i could get, at $200 for a pretty good condition, i'm pretty happy by my purchase

It was love at first sight.

It never came to me that I need to buy anything larger than Sonyericsson T303, and never came to my mind to buy an x10 mini, but when I was looking for a new phone, I see a couple of good review about the x10 mini, so I bought one. after a month or two I find it hard to surf the web because of its size, and my Post paid plan contract is ending soon, so I aquire the plan with x8, which is like mini, only larger. I get used to it.
So I was thinking, X10 mini have decent camera, but small in size, X8 have larger display but lousy camera, so I trade it for X10. I was thinking of HTC Desire HD, but finding it too big. I was also eyeing for defy but x10 screen is larger.
So there, X10's journey to my life is not that easy nor complicated. I think this is what we call destiny.. hahahaha...
June last year i wanted one of 2 phones, desire or x10.
Was my first android phone so no research was done.... doh
I ended up getting x10 cus the desire looked so wide like a brick.
Now i wish i didnt upgrade on my exact due date, i should of waited till more phones were released.
However i still love my x10 but only thanks to xda community!

motorola atrix worth buying?

im thinking about buying this phone, i dont want to spend alot of money on smartphone and the atrix is pretty cheap for what he gives.
the motorola atrix worth buying?
he have any common problems?
thanks
Mine was pretty cheap, I got it for my birthday in october. I love it. The only common problem would be random reboots/sleep of deaths. There have been some "fixes" that work for people if you look around, but there are a fair amount of users who have had random reboot issues or sleep of death issues, including me. But I've managed to fix mine so I love love love the Atrix.
atrix 4g
For a cheap phone it is really good. My only complaint is the 5mp camera. To get its full potential you have to unlock the bootloader, root and install a custom rom. All the info can be found in the development section of this forum. Turls team cm7 is rock steady. I have just updated to jokersax11's cm9 and now the phone is awesome, the only thing missing is the camera does not work in this rom.
..
Were having alpha ver. of IceCream Sandwich (CM9) ... there are better phones around atm but if you think Atrix fits you then I would say its not a bad choice.
You can still buy it because it is very nice.
I bought my atrix 2 weeks ago in germany and i can't complain. Ok actually the atrix wasn't my first choice but the price of the nexus s become very high in germany so i decided to get the atrix.
And it is still a very fast phone with a nice battery and the most important fact for me is that it only has a 4" display because I have small hands and a bigger display would be to big for me.
I am happy and i saved more than 100€ compared to other high end phones like the galaxy s II or galaxy nexus.
I vote to Buy.
If you plan on modding I'm sure your are.. Your here after all. I would buy one for 250 or less. I really like mine. There are so many roms to try now. It seems even though some phones are better this phone is really well supported by a big community. Breathing more life into a phone and taking it beyound its time. Im using the SuperOSr Rom and I really enjoy it tried maybe 6 or so others.
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ----------
Forgot to say the atrix has been a really reliable phone considering the amount if soft bricked it doing software flashes unsafely. I didn't know any better at the time. Not buggy like all my blackberries Ive had.
I think it is worth buying this phone, it's a lot cheaper then say a galaxy s2 and the galaxy is just a tad more powerfull, also there are some great custom roms and even a few (I think 3) ICS roms on the way!
Dont buy the atrix, buy a sensation a sgs2 or a o2x.

I am thinking about buying an Atrix and would like some input too.
Requirements are:
1. 4" Screen
2. Good battery life
3. ATT 3G Bands
4. Less that $400 on unlocked market
The phones I considered were the SE Arc, LG Optimus 2X, and Atrix 4G. Yes, I would love to own a Galaxy or Nexus phone but it is outside my price range. The Optimus 2X fell out because I cannot get it in ATT USA bands. So its the Arc vs the Atrix. Or did I miss another option?
yes - no problems
yes, it's worth it. I've had no problems with mine, the build quality is excellent on my device.
The 5mg camera is the only marginally disappointing thing but that alone would not tempt me to swap it for a SGSII.
good luck

How about the Atrix vs Nexus S?
Nexus S pluses: AMOLED, Better Camera, Better Battery life, NFC, Offical upgrade to ICS
Atrix pluses: Expandable Memory, HDMI, Faster CPU, FP Reader, 3.5G
Tough call.
You'll get what you pay for, imo. Best way to compare real market value is check ebay (BNIB on auction).
I'm sure ill be on gingerbread when similar phones will be on some next version of ics, not to mention that I got gingerbread after 6 months of purchase. I will never buy motorola android phone again, but that is just my personal experience.

I can't blame you either. I have always been a Motorola fan from the ROKR (not RAZR) line (anyone remember the Apple collaboration with Moto?) and I owned an E2. But I think it is poor on Motorola's part that the Defy is stuck on Froyo, while the pratically identical Defy+ got Gingerbread on launch. Motorola seems to be keeping certain brands going (Milestone/Droid, Defy, Atrix) so the should keep them updated as far as they can physically go.
Battery and ICS might sway me into getting the Nexus S but I do love the more powerful Atrix.
It's a great phone but the camera really kills it, other than that it's awesome.
I personally love my Atrix. The camera is a slight bit disappointing but it definitely makes it up with versatility and functionality. Just my opinion

i choosed phone for about 1 year. because haven't more money, but i want a "power" phone, which can work for about 4 years without problem with hardware. i bought Atrix 4g. this is my first android phone, but it really nice for this price.
In the end of 2011 year i choose between atrix 4g, Defy+ and nexus prime. but nexus prime have bigger display, it is thinner than atrix, but have big price.
Defy+ is wonderfull, water resist, dust resist and any more... but haven't dual core, and only 512 ram.
resume (for me):
if i have more money i bought nexus prime, but i think that ideal phone can not cost more than $ 400 must have the hardware with a view of the future (1 year minimum). Should work just fine navigating large maps (map RUSSIA really great, and requires a lot of memory the laying of complex routes). Should be easily unlockable and be able to flash the android ICS (СM9 in my case). gave me a chance to practice in programming for Android.
Atrix gives me all these opportunities. Overclocking the CPU to 1.5GHz making foundation for the future, the performance he ahead of SGS2 and is not as great. Support for memory cards - I have no problems with the backup, you can always place another increase.
so that at the moment, I suggest taking Atrix 4g. But the choice is always yours.

Wow! How can you fix your SoD problem in Atrix?
I tested a lot of radios, kernels and roms without sucess. Can you tell me?
Thanks
Other than having a slight less capable camera, I love the Atrix!
Something to also note (that I love) is that it has a qHD resolution 4" display, which means it's pixel density is much higher than most of the other Android phones.

Do a little xda or google search to find a lot of SoD desperated users.
It's impossible to know what app (or kernel or rom etc) is the root cause, because many ones has many different configuration, use many differents apps etc.
My problem is more related to Data Connection, even 3G or Wifi. Every time I turn off a data connection my device get's SoD.
At now I'm testing LoadMonitor app as a SoD avoid app, and it make me happy. Let's do another test before advice them to other ones.
Thanks

[Q] Is it still adviseable to buy this phone now, 7 april 2012?

Hello folks, i'm a n00b.
I'm looking for a decent dual-cored smartphone,
and my eyes fell on the atrix 4g. (Do mind that in Europe you cannot buy the atrix2.)
Is this phone advisable to buy, or does it still have the issues of overheating / rebooting all the time?
And, should this phone be compared to the LG L7 P700 (which seems the only other option for the price), is it still a good buy?
In Europe these phones are priced roughly the same. (€300), [392.04 A. dollar]
Thanks in advance.

Only if you want a terrific and fast phone that can handle just about anything you throw at it!
FYI, I use mine all day long, in the car dock for navigation and MP3 playing while driving, as an actual phone in my hand/pocket, and in the laptop dock when I need it and I have never run out of juice or had it overheat. I think those reports are VERY anecdotal or are from people abusing their phones.
Go ahead and get one, you will not be sorry.

I must agree, it is a great piece of hardware, and software is up to you to choose. Great experience, great power. However one minor note here - you'd need to play with it, configure it and spend time with it - it is no iphone in my opinion, you'll need to MAKE it yours as you go. But it will pay off greatly. Honestly price-quality - on of the best on the market.

Looking at the specs of the phone the LG doesn't match up to the Atrix with ram (512 compared to 1gb) and also internal memory is only 4GB on the LG compared to 16 GB .
The atrix has a bigger capaity battery but not by much.
The screen is larger on the LG (4.3) but I am not sure how the pixels ect compare (480 x 800 pixels, 4.3 inches (~217 ppi pixel density) compared to 540 x 960 pixels, 4.0 inches (~275 ppi pixel density) for atrix)
The LG will have ICS whereas Atrix has froyo (european is 2.3.4) but the atrix can be easily modded on here.
I've never owned an LG phone so I can't comment on build/durability but I have had my atrix for 8 months now and I've never had any of the issues you have mentioned and I can't recomend it enough.
I would think it's a choice between the 'new' LG or the older Atrix (not to confuse matters but you could always look at one of the 'new' motorola phones). Decisions Decisions!

+1 on everything except that atrix will be receiving ICS official as well
It's a great phone but if you have large hands/fingers, this will feel like holding a toy. I'd get the SGS2 if I were you and you will be good to go for a long time.
I would have to agree with everyone in that this phone is still a very reasonable option without spending tons of money. The best option for purchasing would be through an online retailer as a few of the carriers have stopped selling it. Most respectable web stores (ie Amazon, wirefly, etc should still have a decent number in stock)

I recommend it also got mine for £160 as a Grade B used device from CeX was cheaper with store credit only had scuffs on battery cover.
Worth every penny very powerful and decent battery life.
Atrix is well wourth money hasnt had overheating problem since about 3rd or 4th update its extreamily stable and is as awsome as everyone above is saying this phone will even handle a 1.6 oc and only reaches 50 ºC on the heavyest of games and note the LG androids have a nasty habbit that depending on model they start rebooting at random after 6months-a year most optimus are 6 months

You'd be hard pressed to find something with an unlocked boot loader and the performance specs for the price of an Atrix 4G right now...
i have the same question, currently using desire z, very annoyed with the lag of ram which make it impossible to run many latest game, and how is this front camera perform?
im in the market for phone with at least 768 ram and ok front camera
and how easy to root this phone?
I use a Samsung G S II Skyrocket now as my main phone.
I use the Atrix for my lapdock, mainly.
Atrix is still a great phone but it is harder to deal with (unlock), the touchscreen isn't as responsive as the Skyrocket and it is slower than the Sky.
Also, Motoblur is a pain...
There are some cool tools for the Sky; Darkside Superwipe, for example. And the screen on the Sky is really gorgeous. Originally, I was unhappy with the battery life but a quick root, debloat and a Faux kernel fixed all of that. And the Sky folks are playing around with a leaked ICS...
i would be planning to flash rom straight away so motorblur won't be an issue if it is easy enough to root

its very simple to root this phone..just plug in, install drivers and run a program and it does everything for you..the front camera is good.. not great..but good for posing with the girlfriend or video chats..the back camera however takes great quality photos(if you want I can send you pics from either camera)
also, I've never experienced any lag while playing games on this phone(having played games like dead space and galaxy on fire 2, and fruit ninja HD)
Once Updated...
I've had the atrix for almost a year now, (rooted with a new launcher) and I liked it during that whole time. However I recently took the plunge and flashed ICS/CM9 (Jokersax)... now I love the phone. It's fast, smooth, well organized, a pleasure to use all around - with CM9, I feel like Android has finally reached the point where it is both more customizable AND more elegant than the easy-to-use iPhone.

okay, here you go, the first picture is the front facing camera, you can see its not wonderful quality but good for quick snapshots of yourself or you and whoever, and as good a quality for video calls as I've seen..the last two are from the back facing camera, and while it's not amazing, it's also no slouch either..
yeah I used skype once on it and it did work, but I mostly use gtalk and it works well..
of course if you have the time to wait for the quad phones to come out and the money to buy them, you might as well..this is a year old phone, which means it might be a little outdated, however its really excellent for the cheap price
edit: this is done without the MIUI camera, which takes better quality pictures, but doesn't allow you to take pictures through the front facing
The atriz has been out for about a year now so its gonna lose support after it gets ice. I'm having a boatload of problems. Wifi/Bluetooth is taken out and half of my screen isn't working. other then that its a pretty solid phone. When I close everything and have juice defender on extreme and screen off it dross about 2 percent per hour. It seems the Africa has its flaws like Bluetooth and the digitizer. I'm pretty sure that's why they released the affix 2 I think you should look into the newer phones. Then research what Rome they have and how strong the developing community is. The Africa for me is 7/10 just cause of the hardware problems. If it didn't it'd be 10. It can run with a tiny lag at 456 on neutrino Tom 2.6 which is incredible. But yeah. That's my take on the phone! Make sure the one you get has gorrila glass. The attic is a beast. I dropped it about 10 metres down the down the stairs on accident then fell another 5. Nothingbhappened to it haha. I heard the nexus has amazing battery life.

Lol, Africa.
Wow, you must have typed that all on your phone. Rome? Tom? Affix? Attic?
Atrix hands down!!
I have bought an Atrix for 15 days now and the only thing that I can say about it is that I absolutely adore it.
Its not my first dual core Smartphone since I came from a broken Optimus 3D, which, for the record, was the worst buy ever.
The Atrix is ridiculously faster than the O3D, the 1gb of RAM on the atrix does a huge difference and is really necessary nowadays (O3D had 512mb and was always out of free RAM)
The battery in the Atrix is unbelievable. Till today Never ran out of it, and would run out of battery every single day with the O3D.
The Atrix is way more reliable than any LG phone, and I'm telling you, I worked there, I know what I'm saying.
Go with the Atrix, you will NOT be disappointed, trust me.
