Development of overclocking - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I'm using Sony Ericsson X8 and planned to buy Ace later.
We have a OC modules for X8.Since X8 and Ace are using same CPU,so could we make some change and make it compatible with Ace?

+1 Interrested.

No modules folder in ace. Kernel is probably the only way?

.../lib/modules are present in every linux distribution, including android...which contains the kernel modules

My mistake.. any kernel developer or skilled scriptors wanna help? Doixanh wrote the oc module for x8 I believe, anyone interested in developing for ace can work with him.

Yes, doixanh is a great dev. I will PM him for permission.

it is not cracked but with custom exec tool you can replace kernel with it
i already did it but it gives a ****load of bugs but working on it
yes thats correct you can use kexec tool to boot a new kernel on the fly. but its always full of unexpected bugs
owain you can look in the sony ericsson kernel for the bootflags the zimage will use. and maybe use this as your rootdevice=blablablafromzimage or make a custom image on the sd card but new kernel will need mmc support compiled into it.

as someone say it, custom kernel on the fly is now possible (that was the progress for bootloader), and that mean developers can do somethis similar to the temporal CFW for the PSP 3XXX used for 3 years!, now is permament CFW

i use SE as base otherwise we don't see a kernel for 2 years xD
Very true its a pain in the ass to port specfic drivers to new kernels and it eats a lot of time!

Request to Developers

Hi,
As .587 build is officially available for MiniPro, please start using MiniPro as base for ALL MDPI ROM's or please create ROMs for MiniPro using official ROM as base. Also it would be great if someone can provide a rooted MiniPro kernel. I also request kernel developers of Rage, KernelPanic, Mesa to provide us a kernel based on official MiniPro kernel for all the MiniPros around the world.,

We can do it but as you know lww ftf with latest ics was the first so i think we all used it and with aroma we can port it to all devices, why should we change the base?everything is working what should be different?

Every ROM base like .587,.431 etc. are basically the same with only the device specific features being implemented for a specific device by sony. Otherwise, any device's base firmware can be used by ripping out the proprietary files for the device and adding the other device files by any other means.
For the kernel, the source is same for ALL the devices that got the .587 firmware. Nothing device specific.

[ASK] Is it possible to Port kernel 3.x from other devices??

Hello, i'm not a developer, just wanna to ask something that maybe useful for xperia 2011 (maybe ). Sorry i posted here because xperia ray doesn't have a general section.
By the way, is it possible to port a kernel from other device that have same chip with xperia ray?
I saw at Galaxy W and S Plus forum that they currently build (or port?) kernel 3.x
Here is the development thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855557
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1938811
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742976
Galaxy W and S Plus have a same chip and spec like xperia 2011 series.
You can check it at here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
it's MSM 8255 too. And i found that Huawei Honor also has a MSM8255 chip like xperia 2011 who have an official ICS with Kernel 3.x.
So, is it possible to port? If it's hard to build kernel 3.x from scratch, then why not we port it? As far as i know, galaxy s 1 also have build their own 3.x.
I'm sorry if this considered as a noob post, i'm just trying to help the devs about porting kernel 3.x from other device, maybe we can port it to our device.
ya seems like a nice idea, can any developers do this ??

I've talked with multiple developers. Summarizing:
It is possible, but it would take several months, during which the number of users still using this phone maybe only half of that now. It's simply not worth to spend the time on. 2.x kernel with tweaks isn't much worse than 3.x kernel.
We working for the 2011 series but to get the Kernel to boot this is a long way...
Im trying to port 2.6.35 to know which code had to be changed sony said there are minimal changes when i lock at the drivers there are many changes
But i/we hope to get the kernel to boot soon

[DEVS] JB on Locked Bootloader [Building Ramdizk][W.I.P]

ANDROID RAMDIZK FOR JB ON XPERIA U
Hi all, my purpose is to create a mount point for the android system jb, according to knowledge, with modifications you can start ramdizk latest android on the same kernel.
ACCORDING TO MY EXPERIENCE IN JB ICS AND LIBRARIES USED FOR THE SAME IN THIS CASE MALI400 GPU, so it's nothing to make forced changes in the kernel.
What you need to do is make changes to the ramdizk.
You can obtain these files from a jb kernel and extract the ramdizk creating mount points for the start of the software ...
I invite you to participate and contribute to achieving ramdizk, I'm working on this ...
IN X8 SECTION, IS POSSIBLE BOOT ANDROID 2.2 AND 2.3 ON STOCK KERNEL WITH MODIFICATIONS ON RAMDIZK
Based on some reference books I read, an Android system starts up in following main steps:
CPU reads a hard-coded address which usually points to some bootloader program
The bootloader initializes the RAM, puts basic hardware in a quiescent state, loads the the kernel and RAM disk, and jumps to the kernel.
start_kernel() initializes subsystems and proceeds to call the init function of built-in drivers.
The kernel mount its root system (from ramdisk.img).
init.rc is then called to set up the environment variables such as system path, mount other filesystems, start native daemons and so on.
Now, to answer your question: "Is it possible to mount a ramdisk in Android before the Android framework starts, but after the underlying Linux kernel has started?" -- I think this is exactly what android did.
INITS
The fixes required for ramdisk.tar :
init.rc file should have 2 parts from original sony init.rc that are marked as #SEMC
add original init.delta.rc and init.delta.sh from sony or one of my ramdisks, those are responsible for service declarations.
THIS IS A KERNEL FOR GB, ICS AND JB NAA KERNEL
Ramdizk Inector tool
INIT FOR JB HERE
IM ALREADY HAVE THE ROM... IM NEED BOOTIMG FROM JB... ONLY INITS AND COMPILE THIS... WE CAN USE ATIS RAMDISK AS A BASE
PROGRESS
I AM STARTING TO WORK ON THIS
IM WORKING ON THIS...

Dear brother, I was a X8 user and a fan of your stock SGM CM7. I agree with the fact that stock ramdisk can goes a long way. But brother, it is not the same here in Xperia U. But I'm waiting for you to hear good news
P.S: Our X8 cannot run 4.0 and up well. You know that. And also CM7 is a big laggy. At some point, it will be same here for booting up JB with ICS ramdisk

you can also use winrar or ubuntu to just change the files inside one of the existing ones from atis, it does work afaik
i modified the current atis ramdisk with stuff from the XNovathor 4.0.4 Ramdisk in order to make XNovathor 4.0.4 boot on LockedBL, just drag and drop worked fine i guess, but yeah there are troubles in mounting some partitions, i think i forgot to change something lolz
