[Q] Idea: personalization of a long press home to share stuff - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

looking to reviews about the Chacha and the Salsa, i tought it would be cool for geeks and social addicted like me to have a similar function to the facebook button on our sgs2
my (noob) question is: is there the possibility to change the long press of the home button to have a custom action? maybe twitter or facebook posting or something like that? is there an app or an hack to do this?
sorry if my question is dumb

[q] "new" app button

Hi, I think there is probably a post here somewhere but it eludes me... On my Orbit 2 I installed a program to give a "new" (sms, mail appointment etc). Is there such a thing for HD2 that could be put on a quick link?

You can either use the method samsamuel linked you to or you could set up an "action screen" on your left softkey and get access to various shortcuts like new sms/mms/email all from one screen...
Check this thread.....
Hope that helps.....
ooo thats nice, hadn't seen that before.
EDIT - oh wait,. i already have it cooked in, but bound to teh long press end key, d'oh, hehe
Thanks for the replies Guys. I think I'll have a crack at the action screen. Should be interesting for a Noob like me..........

[Q] Assign QWERTY-buttons to shortcuts while at homescreen

Hi!
It struck me the other day,
that instead of placing your shortcuts on your home screens
why not assign a hardware button to them?
I though it would be very nice just pressing W on the keyboard instead of going through my contacts when I want to call my wife.
But I can't find a single app capable of doing such a thing.
The closest thing I found was Hbuttons for WindowsMobile
Anyone got any suggestions ?

Basically, if you want your own shortcuts, go to setting, quicklaunch

The web site you linked to says to go to Settings > Application settings > Quick launch to change shortcuts.. but there's no such option on the x10 mini.
Also, loads of the shortcuts on that site are SEARCH + $KEY..
there's no search button on the x10 mini either...
what we need is a key mapper or something like they have on the snesoid emulater. if someone could extract it, maybe it'll work
Really? Sorry about that. My phone is in the service center right now and I just read that article a while back and thought it would be the same.
Would love a solution for this, it's a feature i miss atm from hbuttons

Organizing your menu?

Sorry I sound like the biggest noob here but how do you change ur menu around? like the stuff above your 2 action buttons like (home, people, messages, mail, opera etc etc) the reason why I want to do this is to delete some of them like Twitter and Stocks (since I don't use them), I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know how to change it?
You mean on the home screen? If so then press Menu>Edit Quick Links. If I misunderstood sorry.
Thanks for the response, but no, I'm talking about the tabs above the button "Menu" like where it shows Start, All People, Message, Box, and you can drag the tabs to each different section, I was wondering how I can delete someo f them.
O Ok sorry. You mean Start>settings>personalize>Home Screen Tabs
Then uncheck what you dont want...I hope Im following what you mean now

[Q] help needed

hi,
i've been using the s3 for six month now and finally got all things the way i want (omega v34 rom with perseus kernel and jkay deluxe framework). except for two things i can't seem to find anywhere:
1. lock back and menu buttons option in the quick panel settings. every time i play something or giving the phone to someone else the back\menu button is accidentally triggered causing a "kill app" operation (long press back button to kill app mod is enabled). annoying!
2. in the contacts screen there is an option to scroll a-->z, i have contacts written in other languages and want to rearrange the scroll order and include letters that are in my language (hebrew).
are the two things i wrote already exist, and if not, from whom should i request it?
p.s i know the #2 issue is possible to solve in galaxy s2 with decompiling some apk's- if anybody knows a good guide for s3 it would be great too..
tnx in advance to the repliers!
you can request the first one in the JKay thread in original development. It's a nice idea
Or if you watching a video on YouTube and you can lock the keys with the lock button so that if i give it to my friend and back button is pressed accidentally so it won't kill our take you out of the video.

[Q] [req] "Multitask" Lockscreen

Hi, I've had an idea to develop a some kind of lockscreen.
The main purpose is to switch apps from the lockscreen. I don't know if is this possible (I'm kinda newby to develop), by doing a widget for the new 4.2 unlock screen, or should be done from the bottom.
You could think, 'when you have a notification, touching it, you can switch apps from the lockscreen', but if I don't have that notification? I must unlock, press tasks button (or hold home button in most galaxys) and then touch the app. It's not a big effort, but I leave here my thought.
If someone wants to develop it, I would like to join (learning purposes).
Thanks & Regards!
