Verizon 4g LTE Tab - Netflix Working - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

First, nothing in this post is my own work. I just wanted to compile the information for everyone else who is surely wanting to know if the 4g LTE tab can run Netflix.
Step 1 - Root:
1. Download the file from THIS THREAD POST to your Tab10.1 (anywhere should work, I went with the /sdcard folder on my tab)
2. Power Down Tab
3. Power On and when you see the Samsung Text Hold Power + Volume UP (From This Post)
4. Select the Android+Box (Volume up to switch, then volume down to select)
5. Chose "apply update from /sdcard" and select the .zip file you downloaded in step 1 (When finished, the tab will automatically reboot).
6. Verify Root - You should see SuperUser in your apps when your tab finishes rebooting.
Step 2 - Asus Transformer Patch
1. Download the Transformer Patch from THIS THREAD
2. Install Patch - I chose to use Root Explorer to manually move the libnvomx.so file into my /system/lib folder, but you could also reboot into recovery and apply the .zip file that way instead (steps 2-5 above).
3. Reboot - If you manually move the .so file you will need to reboot, using the recovery it should reboot for you when finished.
4. Watch Movies
If anyone has trouble with this Please Do Not Email Me
I am really not a pro at troubleshooting, I was just willing to take a shot at rooting and found out that it worked. Hopefully this will ease other people's minds about getting root and netflix on your Verizon Tab 10.1
Also it is worth mentioning that I did all of this without using ODIN or KIES or ADB Shell or any of those other scary things. I chose not to try to install Rom Manager of Flash Clockwork Recovery as I had heard they may cause troubles.

I noticed that you mentioned using an SD Card multiple times in this post, but the 4G LTE version doesn't support SD Cards (doesn't even have the slot).
Why the discrepancy?

He probably meant place it on the root of the drive of the tab. When you plug in your tab to your computer, you should be able to view your files there. Add the zip file to the root of that drive. Hope that makes sense.

True. I was torn with how to describe the location and decided to use SD Card to be in line with the "\sdcard" which is still in use in the file system for the tab
I guess I've been explaining the root / recovery process on the OG Droid for so long that I still toss references to "root of the sd card" and "install zip from sd".
I'll edit the original post for clarity.

Question (and thanks this is very helpful!). I'm going to do the same as you I think and stick with custom rom and no cwr. So if you need to unroot for warranty return or whatever, and we've only done the steps in this post, what do we have to do to unroot? Thanks!

This worked very well...it was almost too easy. Thank you for sharing the info.

Does it work on the wifi only model? P7510?

Not 100% sure CSGirl... in my experience, the person making the determination about warranty approvals would be the in-store rep. In that case you should be fine by just using root explorer and deleting the SuperUser app. The permissions would still be there I suppose, but the store guy wouldn't see the telltale app.
Someone else could probably give a better answer.
If you open up the .zip file for rooting and go into \meta-inf\com\google\android and open the updater-script file you can see everything that is getting changed, I guess you would just have to change that back.
Also, @wiibrewer, I have no idea

Well how about is there any reason it should not work on the wifi model?

I know that Droid-Life posted this file for the special edition wifi tab: Search "Galaxy Tab 10.1 Rooted" post from May 2011
You might try that too.

4g LTE Recovery Mode
Good Morning: Thank you for your postings. I have a new Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4g LTE. I am not able to get the device into recovery mode. Is there a procedure for rooting that can eliminate that step or is there an alternate way to get in to recovery mode? Any assistance will be appreciated.

I found that the volume up button is the one closest to the power button and not the actual volume button if that solves your problem

Verizon 4g LTE Tab root
Hi there,
I just bought a samsung Galaxy 10.1 4G LTE tablet.

I can boot to Download mode and use Odin3 but can't boot to recovery mode... I get a blank screen with slight edge glow. So the older way to root won't work either, since you can't get to Recovery mode to finish the job.
Any suggestions? Would a Factory data reset work.

[Q] Just Rooted, Now trying to downgrade cannot get into recovery please help

I just currently opened my box fresh out and installed z4root to root it... Sucess!
Now im trying to downgrade as i am "supposed" to according to this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036956
This is what is in my about screen under settings so you know what version ect i have http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/1476/20110427032325.jpg
from the aforementioned thread i downloaded the 4349_Downgrade.zip and placed it on my sd card... Renamed it update.zip and closed usb connection, and then powered off and powered up first pressing and holding the "+" on the volume rocker on the top of the tab. and then pressing power.. When i say "+" i mean Volume + witch is on the top left of the tab closest to the right in the direction of the search home menu and back keys...
When im holding this combo of buttons the screen boots up after a second or two says recovery key detected or whatever in the top left for a few seconds and then goes to the g tablet white screen... THen it shows a box with a downarrow on it and a progress bar for a few moments and then shuts off and reboots into the homescreen.......
I read in this forum a topic how the guy experienced the same results but turned out he was holding the Volume - key... I made certian i wasent doing what he did and literally just held the Volume + key on the right edge with the tip of my nail and held power... Same results..
I have tried with the program root explorer going into the file manager... (Why is there a file called sdcard2?? never seen that before) i go into /sdcard find the update.zip i put from the renamed 4349 file and then back up to the "/" dir and mount as r/w and paste the update.zip in there then mount as r/o back out to home power off.. i repeate the aforementioned process and still the excat same thing...
The origonal update that was put on there when i first put in my newly formated fat32 sd card i deleted.. i have searched and search and have no idea what is wrong or how to fix this... Certianly i couldnt be the only one with this issue?
Please help, im just killing time sitting here waiting for help lol.... Thanks..
My end result is im trying to get CWM 08 on there and a great and stable rom witch i choose that RC1 of vegan.. Unless u know of a better one. And once this is all done is there a good kernal i should be flashing? Why and how do i do it.?
Thank you in advance..
1) The downgrade is only necessary if you were on 4349 to begin with.
2) what you described is exactly what should happen in stock recovery for 3588 and older.
3) No... it is not exactly what others have said about holding the wrong volume key because when you do hold the wrong one the screen goes black after a few seconds.
4) SDCARD is your internal storage. SDCARD2 is the mount point for your external (MicroSD Card) storage.
5) It sounds like nothing is wrong...
6) Install CWM... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Ooook
The thread i mentioned in my first post the first link if u click it the title of tje topic reads
[STICKY] [ATTENTION] - 3991 and 4349+ VIEWSONIC-LOCKED BOOTLOADER INFO here
Also it has a link to a pic of my about phone so cant u tell from that?
I am lost i did excatly to a T as described in the tutorial in step 6 in your reply and im getting the same thing i hold down volume + it says recovery key detected for a few secs in goes to gtablet screen and flashes to that down with a down arrow.....
What am i missing? Surely i dont have the only tablet with this problem..
Yes, I can... Your TAP UI version is 3391... LOWER than what you are trying to downgrade to. So you don't need to. You are seeing exactly what is supposed to happen with the version you have. This is the normal behavior for that version.
The only thing you are missing is the knowledge that nothing is wrong...

From what i gather from that link is that i am to take the files insides cwmod_microsd.zip witch are update.zip and recovery folder that houses command and physically take the microsd card out and mount on my computer witch is technicly SDCARD2 and place those files in that root directly... and then the power down insert card and vol up and power.....
I am getting the same issue same box and same nothing.
Most likely because you aren't following the directions. Take some time to learn at least the basics about your tablet. Then read the instructions again.
you can do it on either the internal or external. It depends on what the line in the command file says. Once you boot once whether sucessful or not the command file is deleted. Your making this harder than it is
Then what am i missing? I got this tablet yesterday at 2 pm and stayed up till 3 am trying to get CWM on it!
I cant imagine what im missing, ive read dozens of posts tried atleast 15 times putting either the downgrade or cwm sdcard update files in the internet "/" or "/sdcard" or "/sdcard2"
And yes i noticed that it deletes the update and recovery folder if i drop it in /sdcard2 or "/", ill put the files there either directly to sd card from the computer or thru root explorer and when i hit vol + and power it does the same thing.
This has to be the most frustrating tablet/ android device ever!
The last time i had something this hard was when i bricked my iphone in early 09 and figured out i had to reload the ipw file via a brand new install of itunes from a virgin computer (that computer turned out to be me using the librarys lol)
so i just got both the internal and external cwm files from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
and put them in both /sdcard and /sdcard 2 for some reason when i used root explorer i noticed that for somereason in /sdcard2 there was a recovery/recovery/command so i pulles recovery to /sdcard2/recovery and pasted it there and deleted the other recovery folder.. re did the whole process and low and behold i was lookin at a CWMN screen! so... i have no idea, but if i ever meet the man who created the Vewsonic g tab ill kick him in the nuts.
Now i followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
and i mounted the usb put the Vegan Rc1 rom in the ROMS folder and choose zip from sd and installed... and im just stuck at the view sonic screen, so i powered off did a wipe data factory reset and wipe cache and then went to advanced and fix permissions... Then to choose install from sd card choose my vegan rom and installed then backed out to home and hit restart and again its been ten mins or so and im still staring at a viewsoniv screen still..... Is this normal or any more suggestions?
There is a fix but as much trouble as you had installing clockwork I'm suggesting you avoid that fix so I'm not even saying the name. Stick with froyo roms
Thats not very helpfull... Just please tell me what it is i can ifgure it out on my own, i obviously did with the CWM now i just cant get the rom installed for some reason i have a tablet that just boots to the view sonic screen at the moment
Just to update...
I fixed it. THanks for your help and no thanks for your sarcasim.
Was stuck at the viewsonic birds screen
So i did so more, searching... its now 5 am and figured out what nvflash is and
via this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
and making sure u extract EVERYTHING in all the zip files with the exception to the USB folder u drop in the nvflash folder as directed, because if u dont u will get a error when u run nvflash_gtablet.bat
Once that is complete follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Word for word to install Vegan from stock... It may save a lot of confusion to just nvflash from stock and then drop the CWM recovery and update on the sd card and go that route..
Hope this helps and newbs...
See...the search function does work

I can not vouch for other methods but I have rooted this tablet with SuperOneClick ver. 2.1.1. If you leave "Exploit" on "auto" and click "root" you will be pleasantly surprised. Took me two tries, but if you turn on usb debugging in settings and leave the screen timeout on 30min your golden. Happy rooting.... I'm also uploading a google apps zip file. I unzipped it and installed all the files in the corresponding places to get a working Android Market. I used Android Commander to move the files & install apk's. *NOTE* You need to install the apps in the "/sysem/app" folder in this order...
1. GoogleServicesFramework.apk
2. OneTimeInitializer.apk
3. SetupWizard.apk
4. Talk.apk
5. Vending.apk
6. Gmail.apk
7. Maps.apk
After... Restart, Connect to wifi, and launch Market. You will be prompted to sign in to google. Then you will see Market License blah blah blah...

Do you have usb debugging turned on, and did you use the latest version of SuperOneClick. For me it stalled when my screen timeout was to short and locked me out of my tablet when the screen cut off. Second time around it looked like it was going to fail, stalled and then prompted me to ok the install of busybox... etc etc. I am also running android 2.3.1 and it worked for me. Just have to keep trying till you get it.

I've also tried this on my husband's Impression 10 - same model i10-50. Can you give some details of how you rooted? What programs did you use besides Android Commander and SuperOneClick 2.2.1? Any help would be appreciated.
i just got an impression 10 as well. i10-50 model with android 2.3.1. im interested in more in depth info on rooting it as well. i tried updating firmware from the page it gives from the box. instructions to download the system.img file from the impression site. but i am not sure how long it takes? when i loaded the file on sd card and restarted (power+vol-) one time it stayed on the blue screen with the white status bar for like over a half hour. i thought it froze and restarted. when i tried it another few times the blue screen disapeared and i got a screen full of multi colored lines all down it. when i reseted.you could still faintly see those lines even when its running normaly. its faintly in background and you can see it more on certain pages or folders u open. my first tablet and i wish there was more info on it. any clue what im doing wrong?
dude i do customer suport forthis tablet, as u may know by now............it sux
leader Impression I10-50 firmware update
In order for the firmware update to be completed successfully, u need to first format your sd card via sd card reader or your tablet as follows:
Plug in the tablet via usb to your PC or load your card reader with sd card
Then select and left click whatever removable disk drive your tablet shows up
Select format and make sure the file system is set at FAT32
Select start, your sd card should begin formating.
Once complete, then u follow the 13 steps, but since you have already started step 1-13, just press your -volume and power buttons at the same time (steps 11 and 12 again) and it should update your tab. Be sure to do it twice as far as the volume and power button go so the update completes successfully.
I cannot seem to get this thing to root....tried the above with the external sd unmounted and then removed. Followed the instruction on the gtab post. All I can see is the external sd card. It did install superuser. Without the sd it gets stuck at Step 6.
It took awhile....but switched to EZ File Explorer. And I was able to see the internal sd and copy the files Then was able to install the market! Life is good!

Thanks for the reply. About that file program you used, the only one I can find with a similar name is "ES File explorer". Is that the one you used?
I can't get it to copy the files over in the system directory, it acts like its write protected and fails the copy. I must be doing something wrong.
Oops yes ES File Explorer...
Need go to settings.... Open menu, choose Settings Check Root explorer and mount file system...
I'll probably just give up on this. This still isn't wanting to write/copy the files. This is the whole reason I returned my Nook Color before because of the hassle it takes to do this.
edit: it copies a few files, but then some files it says it failed.. like the "maps.apk" file.
Had a few apk's not move as well. I think map was one of them. Just followed the install order and did those from the external sd.....all worked out.

Thank you for your help. I finally got it working, I spent hours on this.
But I decided to try that original posts recommendation of using the program "Android Commander". I had to search to find it, but its a Windows program that makes it much easier to copy files over to the root directory. (although I had to change a setting it in so that it auto closes the log window after it copies, otherwise you can't close the log window, or do anything else until its closed).
I wasn't able to copy the maps with that either though, it gave the error that there wasn't enough space. But it seems to be working fine now.
Impression i10-50
I bought the i10-50 and actually love the tablet. With google market installed (update firmware first), I have full access to the market and no problems installing apps. The only con about the tab is no gps. To install the market, I only downloaded the google apps file and installed the apks in the correct order and that was it. No need to root. I am truly enjoying this tab now.

just pretend you didn't do any of that and...
1. download odin3 v1.3 (windows application)
2. download the samsung usb drivers and install them, i can't remember where i got them
3. plug phone into usb, turn off while plugged in, turn back on while holding volume down (maybe it was up?)
4. go into odin and click the pda button and select...
5. this file and press "start" (i think that's what it's labeled)
6. the phone will reboot itself back to normal
7. copy this zip onto your sd.
8. turn the phone off, and turn back on while holding volume up
9. back that **** up, i dunno what the hell it's labeled
10. wipe data/cache/dalvik (dalik is under advanced)
11. choose to install zip from sd, choose the "this zip" from step 7
12. choose install from zip again -> ICS ROM you downloaded
13. reboot, try out ICS for 2 seconds
14. turn off, boot into recovery (the volume up + power **** we keep doing)
15. install from zip -> Google Apps zip
16. reboot and enjoy ICS and google apps and all the other cool stuff the internet has to offer
Thanks! Very well written, I'll try it out later tonight.

This is why you should always read the entire post when you download a ROM. That issue is mentioned several times through the thread, and it has yet to have been resolved to the best of my knowledge. But always look into what your flashing, otherwise you'll probably end up with a really shiny paperweight on your hands.
Yes, I should've looked at the whole thread but I f'd it up badly now... So, I read what you said about the "SD card problem in the thread" and I took a look and saw that you had to switch around /emmc (I think?) and /sdcard around in the vold.fstab file in the /etc directory. SO, I was stupid and extracted the whole .zip of the ROM, changed the contents in the vold.fstab file, re-zipped it up, and tried to flash it again. Unfortunately, I tried to flash but this is what CWM Recovery said:
-- Installing: /emmc/ICS/3-31.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
... It's probably because the signature verification failed (because of no signature). And I was also being so stupid as to deleting the original ROM off of my SD card... I also note that I am doing this all from an internal, I do not have an external... This is what I am going to:
Get an external microSD and microSD reader for the PC
Put the original ROM on it
Flash it from the external
I am guessing that it would work from that way, as I probably f's up the internal. Can someone clear this up? Will this method work?
Disregard my last post, I am all set back to the stock ROM with no problems. Anyways, thanks for the support, and I will always try to look at the whole thread before flashing a new ROM.

[Q] How to restore stock Android recovery?

Ok so I'm what you guys would call a newbie with Android, I've been an iPhone user for years (switched from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone because at the time it was an AT&T exclusive). However I'm a really big Google enthusiasts so I have followed Android from inception. Growing tired of how bad AT&T's reception was in my house I recently switched back to Verizon and I purchased the GS4. I'm very happy that I can make calls without the use of a Micro Cell, truthfully reliable coverage was the biggest reason why I switched carriers. Else I would probably got the GS4 or HTC 1 on AT&T.
Being a newbie I made some noob mistakes, however I'm glad to report non of my mistakes bricked my phone. My phone works flawless it's only the stock recovery that is jacked up. So to start off I naively though all S4's were 100% open when rooted, by that I thought I could simply install any ROM I wanted to as long as I was rooted. However it appears that Verizon made Samsung lock the firmware with the OTA updates, from what I gather now after reading is the initial firmware was ok but the subsequent OTA downloads introduced the locked boot. Which sucks for me because I willingly took both updates which put the ME7 and now the MI1 builds on my device.
When I started to root process I had the MI1 build and I performed the De LaVega root method (thank you Tomsgt for your videos)! At the time of root and right after the root I was still not aware of the difference with builds. At that point I attempted to install TWRP via GooManager, since I had the MI1 build it did not work. GooManager kept telling me there was no file for my phone or something similar.
Now this should have been huge red flag for me but I was persistent and I looked on TWRP's website and found the file for my phone along with the manual install instructions. I'm familiar with using a Linux command line so followed the instructions to write TWRP into /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 on my device.
After reboot my device failed to get into stock recovery mode, instead it goes back into download mode but has an extra line of text that says "Could not do normal boot". Since I originally hosed my stock recovery I have read up on the different builds and I have also successfully installed the clockmod recovery option. That all works fine it's just factory recovery is still hosed up and it's annoying me!
I know that was a bit long winded but wanted to give a little background. Now I hope I'm not the only guy/girl who has jacked up the stock recovery section. I was hoping someone had some instructions to fix. Heck I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that if I can get someone who still has stock recovery to copy/export what they have in /dev/block/mmcblk0p21, then I can download that file put on my sd card and then write that back into my system using the same dd input/output command I did before.
May not be that easy but that's what I'm hoping for, or maybe some suggestions. :fingers-crossed:
Thx,
Joe

Thanks kennyglass123, sorry it was posted in the wrong area!
Again I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try. For anyone who has a rooted Verizon GS4 and can get into stock recovery with no issues can I have you copy and export what's in /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 to an external file? For those who may not be familiar with Linux I have a few commands you can run below.
1.) Using terminal emulate create a folder to store the file on external card, in my example below I named it "StockRecovery" but you can name it whatever you want.
2.) su
3.) mkdir -p /storage/extSdCard/StockRecovery
4.) dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21 of=/storage/extSdCard/StockRecovery/mmcblk0p21
This should create a file named mmcblk0p21 under the StockRecovery folder of your external SD card. If you could then either attach that file here or maybe upload the file to a public dropbox, or even e-mail that file to me I would really appreciate it!
Not sure this will fix my problem but it's worth a shot!
Thx,
Joe

If your phone is bricked I would recommend the Verizon Repair Assistant.
THIS IS A LAST RESORT.
This will fully update your phone but it will fix any errors.

Hmm I can investigate that but my phone is not bricked. I'm using it now to reply to you. Stock recovery is hosed...so when I power off and then hold Vol+, Power, Home key and then let go of power and keep holding the other two buttons. That key sequence gets my phone into recovery mode. However I can't get into that with my phone anymore.
Thx,
Joe

Root SHV-E220S Android v4.4.4 PDA: E220SKSU0CNL2

Hi
As you may know, after almost a year an update is released for SHV-E220S. Because this phone is limited to SKT Carrier in Korea, nobody cares about it. But do not be afraid. Here I am ready to help you root your updated phone.
I don't know why but any of the conventional methods don't work on the SHV-E220S. Believe me, I tried vRoot, Towelroot, z4root, Framaroot, CF-Auto-Root, etc. with no success. But the following method works like a charm.
Before beginning, I should thank the "www.sayanogen.com" guy who provided the custom ClockworkMod recovery called SH. So thank you man!
Requirements: SHV-E220S, SD Card, ODIN
1. First of all, because you can't normally, i.e. without root permissions, access the SD card via file managers in the to-be-upgraded Android 4.4.4, you need to download the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" from the following link which contains "SuperSU" binary files made by Chainfire and put it on your "SD card" before upgrading.
- Don't put the file on your "Phone Memory" because CWM recovery can't access it.
- Do not extract the file. Put the ".zip" file, as is, on your SD card.
http://download.chainfire.eu/641/SuperSU/
2. After finishing the file transfer, you need to update your phone to the latest firmware which is currently E220SKSU0CNL2 Rom. You can use OTA, Kies, or ODIN method. Feel free to use your favorite method. For ODIN, you should download the following file from SamMobile page and update your phone via the instructions specified in that page.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/40233/E220SKSU0CNL2_E220SSKT0CNL2_SKT.zip
3. After you have upgraded your phone using ODIN, restart the phone and let it do its work. After the phone finished upgrading, reboot again into download mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power, followed by Volume Up and load the "GalaxyPOP_CWM_SH", from the attachment, into "AP / PDA" section of ODIN window and Hit "start".
4. Now you have CWM recovery on your device. Enter Recovery by holding "Volume Up + Home + Power" buttons. Select "Install zip from SD Card" and load "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" file.
5. Well Done :good: You've just successfully rooted your phone.
6. Press the "Thanks!" button .
Thanks So Much

TRY it at your own risks
seems odd. but you can also try to manipulate network modes in SKT menus using codes
in dialer
319712358
password
996412
change settings to its default like Full/Auto etc.
OR YOU CAN ALSO TRY (if rooted) using root explorer
navigate
/system/csc
on that folder edit "sales_code.dat" something like that.. and change 'SKT' to blank or nothing else just erase the "SKT"..
save it..reboot
there on settings/more networks/mobile networks
you'll have mobile network mode.. select GSM only for better signals for CALLs and SMS..
select "WCDMA" for 3G mobile data... but you will lose 'LTE'
better off you have Firmware Backups..
hope it helps.
sorry im not that good in english
