I'm looking for some keyboard fixes for either trace or Swype.
Particularly one that doesn't expire (anything but Swype Beta).
It's very annoying to have to switch keyboards to get Swype working w/o the stupid click sounds.
can you just delete the sound.ogg for the click?

I have tried a couple of keyboards but im always end up uninstalling them and end up with the standard keyboard. I was hoping to find one with larger letters but not in a phone format. Any Suggestions?

Is anyone else using the iphone keypad on the Titan XV6800. It might also be the pcm version that i am using. I believe i have version .14. But the keypad shows so large that the keyboard is squeezed together and takes up the entire screen

Yes mine is the PCM .14 but I do not have that issue.
Under the input settings my:
Keyboard layout:
Eng htctoucher more
keyboard skin:
htctouch iphone
It does not take up the screen as you described and the keys are notice and touchable...
The best SIP (on screen keyboard) program or way of doing things I've found is the following:
Install NullKB so you have a SIP that wont' bring up anything.
Install the Diamond keyboard .cab's.
Install NueSlidingKB. Set the Portrait SIP to the Diamond KEYPAD, set the landscape to NullKB.
That way when you open the phone, the stupid SIP doesn't pop up when you touch forms, since you have a hardware keyboard open..
And when you're in portrait, you use the Diamond's KEYPAD. This is a t9 enabled phone pad with big buttons. It allows you to type onehanded like a normal phone. It works AWESOME. Very easy to text onehanded. Has easy switching to symbols or numbers too.
The Diamond's QWERTY KEYBOARD is also good as far as on screen keyboards go, but the keypad is MUCH faster to use onehanded and I leave it as the default.

I agree, that is what I use 95% of the time myself.
I also like Resco Pro & SPB Full Screen KB.

I hate the placment of the english/spanish button on the swype keyboard, i really dont even know why they have a quick key for this in the keyboard, this seems like it should be a menu setting, i keep accidently hitting it, is there any way to lock it into english?
no, not without killing it with fire!
(AKA rooting and installing beta swype) as far as I know
It's pissing me off bad.
install utlra keyboard. it's way better anyway. it's tracing is better if you like to trace
Not going to say how I really feel about this.

use the stock keyboard and turn on trace in the keyboard settings, it's alot more accurate than swype has been on the 3vo
Okay, so I'm lookin on the T-Mobile website and in the features list it says there is Trace and Swype. I looked around a little on the web and couldn't find much about Trace. It almost sounds like a replica of Swype. So could somebody like fill me in what it is. Thanks.
That pretty much is sums it up.
I, for one, hate it and installed Swype. Trace has a white keyboard and I prefer the darker tones of Swype. On Swype if you hold down the backspace key, it auto deletes the last word, where as trace acts as a computer keyboard and goes letter by letter.
Trace was decent and quite accurate. Of the other third party keyboard apps I've used, I'd put it #2 behind Swype, but after adjusting the accuracy/speed ratio, Swype is still is better IMHO.
Basically what it means is that there is no Swype license with your phone any more.

Thanks so much for clearing that up.
Swype is still king!

Swype is much more advanced than trace. Swype let's you adjust the trail left behind when you swipe letters whereas trace the line stays until the next word, sometimes get's hard to see where the letters are. IMO, Peace, V

I've never used swype but with trace on my phone, the last word stays highlighted until you start the next word and tapping the backspace key while the word is highlighted will delete the whole word. Seems to work well for me.

Again, trace on my phone does not exhibit this behavior. As soon as I'm done tracing the word, the line always goes away.
For me, it seems that Trace is a tad more accurate than Swype.
The one thing I do miss about Swype is being able to double-tap a word, and choose a replacement word. Trace just highlights the word for you, requiring you to delete the word and then re-type a new word.
TouchPal Keyboard
I like the free TouchPal keyboard I got from the Android Market much better than Swype.
Been using it for over a month now exclusively .
And I was a die hard beta Swype adopter before Tmo started putting it on their phones.
That's pretty good, I hadn't seen it before. I'll have to give it a little longer to see if I like it better, but it's definitely a great alternative.
The little language switcher button on Photons stock Swype keyboard drives me insane i bump it all the time(clumsy fingers) and it takes a while to get my keyboard back to English, is there another Swype keyboard that i can use that wont have this?! It is honestly the biggest flaw i see with this device. Or is there perhaps a few files i can edit within the phone so the button doesn't do anything? I do like the capabilities of Swype, just hate this language button, guess its what happens when i get a global phone.. Thanks!
Seconded!
I have this problem, too. And what's with the "post too short" error?
I use SwiftKey a lot and I like it
I found that a keyboard clipkey is a keyboard I would like to use sometimes when I do certain things where sending pre defined phrases to send.
Im looking for a way to quickly change between ClipKey and SwiftKey
Anyone has suggestions how to do it?
Might be a easy way to change keyboard on SwiftKey that I missed, in that case please tell me ??

Every android keyboard that you install and setup in the global input setting menu(input/language mostly) is active and you just need to use the keyboard switch on the top left of your status bar or if you have a nav bar where virtual keys appear you can set the keyboard switch button there.
That's it.
