[Q] Getting SGS2 back to stock (Optus) - Help! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
My phone has been having major signal issues, no signal or emergency calls only next to an exact same phone that has no problem. Talking to my provider, it appears to be the phone and I need to send it back for repair. Problem is, I have a different firmware on there. I obviously need to get it back to the stock optus rom it came with. I know computers and stuff, but im a bit lost in this area. I've done a lot of searching on here but can't seem to find a specific resolve to this issue.
I'll try and sum it up.
Currently running Litening Rom 5, which i flashed with odin. I found on here the link for the original optus branded rom (GT-I9100_OPS_I9100XWKE7_I9100XXKE4_I9100OPSKE4) but after downloading it I'm more lost. The 7zip file had the following files in it:
boot.bin, cache.img, factoryfs.img, hidden.img, modem.bin, param.lfs, sbl.bin and zimage.
I have no idea what to do with these. I've also read that CWM is another possible way to do all this. My rom has it so that might be possible. I'm not fussed about keeping any files, I was gonna do a factory reset before I send it away anyway. I wanna completely wipe my phone and get it back to exactly how it was, so when optus look at it, its how they sent it to me, especially with no yellow triangle on boot.
What should I do with these files? The other option I have is if I can get the rom dumped off a friends optus phone and simply put it onto mine. I know 2 friends with them, can I plug their phone into my PC and use the dump button in odin, or will I get the same files?
Other question I have are:
1) Will Optus know what version of the firmware came on the phone (XXKE7 or whatever) and therefore realise a possible older version is on there, causing suspicion?
2) Is it possible that custom firmwares can screw up my reception? Friends are running stock and they have no issue, though saying that, its still not as good signal as a Nokia.
If you've read this far, thank you very much, I really appreciate it. I'm just so lost, freaking out a bit, going a bit insane with the phone constantly not having signal and just low on time to sort it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi.
First off, if you're already down to the .bin and .img files, you extracted too much.
The archive you downloaded should contain a .tar file - DO NOT extract this one! You need the .tar as .tar.
Then download an App called "Odin" (likely to be found in the very same thread where you found the firmware) and use that one to flash the .tar onto the phone.
Instructions for that are also in the thread where you found the firmware.
That should already solve most of your hazzle.

If I'm not mistaken, flashing your phone's kernel would case
Cause the binary flash counter to clock. And the phone does keep a record of how many custom kernels you have been through. So I would say if they wanted to know, they would be able to find out.

In that case, spend the 5 to 10 bucks on eBay for the USB jig that resets the counter.
I have one too, "works nicely" is an understatement

HellcatDroid:
The one file I downloaded was a 7zip compressed exe. When I extracted that, I got the listed files, there was never a .tar file.
I had no idea about the kernel flash counter, but it sounds like it could be an issue. I saw those USB jigs, but though they were just a way to get into downloading mode if you'd somehow screwed up the normal way. Is that all they do, or much more?

You know what would be awesome? If you explained why. I have no idea why I'm doing it wrong. Did I download the wrong file? (didn't have many options). Or would it be better to get a dump from a friends phone that has the desired rom/kernel?

How do I know why you're doing it wrong? The files are self extracting, all you need to do is double click it and point to when you want the included tarball extracted. You will then have a single tarball which includes everything in a single package. This has all been covered in the tutorial.

The file was a compressed exe, I dont think loading it on as a rom would have worked. Though when I extracted that (self extracting exe), I ended up with all the seperate files, there was never a .tar.
Is it safe to simply put those files into a .tar file with winrar? Is that all it is? Or will I risk bricking my phone? I had a look in the tutorials but couldn't see anything about it.
Thanks

Where did you get the file from? Optus firmwares are in the carrier branded firmware thread in the dev forum so you can download a copy from there.

I grabbed the exe from your other thread, it had 5 different links and only 1 worked at the time.
But you know the worst part? I just figured it out. The exe extracted a .tar file, but in my rushing and stressed-ness, i didn't realise that was the one, it was a winrar file so i just thought it was compressed or something, like a zip.
My bad. I wont be flashing just yet, gonna replace my sim card first. I got used to the idea of wiping my phone and starting again, but now I realised how annoying that would be. Bought a USB jig too, just in case.
Appreciate your help, sorrying for being a n00b!

[Q] CF-Root / ZergRush Bricked?

Hi folks.
I attempted to root my S2 a few moments ago with the method in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 and everything looked like it was going well. It got to the end of the batchfile and rebooted the phone, only this time nothing came up, just a black screen. Then, I noticed some random pixels on the black screen, only a few, and random colours. Then I noticed more of them appearing slowly, filling the screen. I was confused and watched it in horror for a minute until the whole screen was full and the colours were turning white. I switched off the phone and tried again. No good.
The instructions say to try holding volume up, home and power to turn it on so it starts recovery mode but nothing different happens. I tried download mode and at least that responds.
What are my options? I'm new to all this but having read up I thought I understood it. It seems I was very wrong.
Help!?
Considering that's meant for the Galaxy Note, what zImage did you use with it (assuming you did step 1.2, not-yet-rooted.bat)
I used the one linked, called CF-Root-SGN_XX_XEN_KJ4-v5.0-CWM4.zip.
I had seen people posting in the thread that it worked on the SG2 though. Now you mention it I can clearly see the SGN refers to the Galaxy Note. I was feeling reasonably confident about things but now I think I'm either going to scream or cry.
Is there any way I can salvage this?
You mentioned download mode works, so just flash a stock kernel (or CF-Root kernel if that's what you're after anyway) for the correct device as PDA in Odin and hope for the best!
If you do indeed have an I9100 (check before flashing anything else), CF-Root or Official.
Directly flashing a CF-Root kernel in download mode will increment your binary counter though. So probably best to go for stock kernel.
Thank you for your responses.
I have seen the following on that page;
Orange UK ORAKJ4 CSC: *The URL goes here*
(above link modified as I'm a new user)
I'm from the UK and with Orange so I think that's the one, it has the KJ4 in the name too. Do I use Odin for this?
It's a stock kernel you need, not CSC. Carrier branded ROMs/kernels are in a different thread, [ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash. Do you have any idea what your phone was running before? I would hazard a guess that it's actually the BVKJ4 kernel from that thread which would match, based on the one you flashed earlier.
My bad, I didn't see you mentioned Odin in your reply. I'm feeling a bit stressed out and not thinking well. Unfortunately, having looked down the various packages, I'm unsure now which I need. The one I quoted is a "CSC package", whatever that is.
Can you guide me further because I don't know what my old version was originally.
I have looked in the new thread you sent and I think I need the;
Firmware info: PDA:BVKJ4|PHONE:BVKJ4|CSC:ORAKJ4
You are absolutely right, it did start with BV! If I use the branded Orange one I should be back to where I started? Would flashing it increment my counter? It's the least of my worries at the moment, but if there's a way of preventing it, I'm all ears.
Thanks again.
Flashing a stock kernel in Odin should not increase your counter and will hopefully get your device booting again.
If that's the kernel you go for, you should be picking the file Kernel_I9100BVKJ4.tar.md5 (not Kernel_I9100BVKJ4.exe, extract it first) as PDA in Odin. Just make sure your Odin options look like the ones in Intratech's first screenshot in his guide (linked earlier).
Thank you, it's half downloaded at the moment. I'm glad you mentioned having to extract the contents because I'd have tried sending the whole 300mb or so to the phone.
Hopefully then, this will flash ok and I'll be back in business!
I feel very much out of my depth now.
It should only be about 5MB, it's just the stock kernel you need (i.e. the second BVKJ4 link).
Oh, it's finished downloading and I see when extracted it's actually just that one file.
Here we go, fingers crossed...
I saw your post just in time. I have downloaded the stock one, at 5.1mb.
I could have made another horrible mistake if I'd gone ahead with things. I will now attempt to flash the 8mb Kernel_I9100BVKJ4.tar.md5 file from that archive I've just downloaded (the 5mb one).
Have I missed anything?

I don't think so. Just make sure you follow the instructions from Intratech's thread linked earlier, specifically Flashing Firmware with Odin.
Well, flashing that stock kernel has done wonders. Thank you so very, very much!
I will try to find the thread where I was reading about this zergrush exploit working on this phone. I can only assume I'd read it and read this one after and put the two together by mistake. I don't particularly understand the whole thing which is why I liked the idea of this exploit as it keeps things stock.
I will see if I can find that thread and read it carefully.
I think I'll call it a night now, and get to bed. Thanks again.
You're probably still rooted, since zergRush did its thing earlier, and flashing a kernel shouldn't have changed that. The only thing you did wrong was using a CF-Root kernel (zImage) for a different device. If you'd have used one for the right device, it should have worked fine.
I'm not sure how I'd check for root. I don't have that superuser program available as an app.
You could try running an app which requires root and see if it works, but if you don't see the Superuser app, it seems unlikely it will. Anyway, if you're still feeling up to it, the simplest way to root (in my opinion) is using the same exploit you tried earlier, but from a different thread (and it doesn't come with the risks of using the wrong kernel ;-))
[16/Nov][ROOTING/UNROOTING] Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit [v3.0](zergRush Exploit).
Takes about 3 minutes.
I think I've found thread I was reading earlier today...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
What part did the ZergRush affect, if not the kernel? If I use this version, with the correct zImage file if I can find it, then I should be ok second time around.
lol.. the joy of cross posting!
I was going to go to bed but now you've made me want to finish what I started.
Please work....

[Q] How to install Kies downloaded firmware?

After searching around in the forum, I have a specific question I cannot find the answer to.
I am presently on the overcome 2.2.0 Rom (P7510, XWKL1). The result of this is that, of course, it cannot be updated through KIES.
My Kies downloaded a file for upgrading my 7510, which can be found on the harddisk, and is XWKL1 stock for my Dutch region (PHN). The Overcome Rom is XAB.
In preparation for ICS (stock, coming in the next two months I hope), I would like to go back to the stock XWKL1 for PHN.
I am stuck as to the procedure though:
1) restocking with the overcome restocking will not be PHN as well, so Kies will not upgrade for PHN
2) I have found the firmware upgrade file on my harddisk, but is has no extension and therefor I do not know how to install this over overcome 2.2.0. How do I turn this file into something I can flash?
Who can give me the precise instructions here?
Hi I'm also looking for a long time to a Dutch ROM PHN csc
You'll have to use Odin and a stock firmware from samfirmware.com
You also have the flashing guide on the same site
I installed the ROM via odin but in none of the stock ROMs is the Dutch csc present.
** Bumping this **
As I have note been able to sort out what I wanted, I'll try again with this bump.
Specifically tryin to find the answer to question 2 in my OP:
2) I have found the firmware upgrade file on my harddisk, but is has no extension and therefor I do not know how to install this over overcome 2.2.0. How do I turn this file into something I can flash?
Have searched again in the forums but did not find the answer.
All files have some sort of extension. At least in my experience. It may not show but it's still got a file type/extension. On a windows machine find the file and right click on it and choose properties. It should show xxxxx.yyy where yyy is the file type/extension. Post what it is and someone will let you know what to use it with.
This is my best suggestion.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using one stinky finger.
The file really has no extension. I have showing the extensions turned on in windows, so it would show if it had one. The filename is: XWKL1PHNKK1XWKL1XWKL1 and giving it a .zip or .rar extension does not make it readable.
I'm at a loss then. I've never seen a file that didn't end with (dot)something. I'll look more into it and hopefully someone will help before it's lost.
Sorry I couldn't help.
If you see this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
When kies downloads a firmware it saves it in a file that only Kies can read, I would however suggest you just get it downloaded from sammobile site, as they have it there, you may need to register, but I do hope their file sharing issues are rectified and the links still work... Bloody SOPA.
You could however factory reset?
I could, but Sammobile does not have this firmware/CSC combination available for download. Do you know of someway to kickstart Kies into installing the firmware it has downloaded, so I can go back to a restoch and then force the install of this firmware?

Well like I said, back then the original firmware files would consist of 3 different files, the Phone/PDA/CSC, you just need the PDA file, Apparently they've made it easier now by making sure all you need is the PDA file and just to flash that file via Odin in the *not so obvious * PDA slot, It now contains the CSC/Regional of the desired firmware and the modem.img

Just a quick question, what is a Kies file format? Is it xxxx.yyy or just xxxx with yyy being a format or extention?
Or am I just completely ignorant on this?

As far as I know the format is somewhat like xxxyyy it's just a dump file, I haven't gotten around to waste time and figure what app works best on opening/converting, and plus it's risky since if the normalboot.img doesn't get flashed you may end up with a brick but I'm pretty sure its in a md5 format or a tar atleast.

Instructions :
Extract The .rar
Open The Setup File And Install LG Flashtool
Right Click On The Shortcut Created On Your Desktop And Open File Location.
Copy The .dll Files From The DLL Folder To The Previously Opened Location And Replace The .dll In Flash Tool Folder If Any.
Open The Flashtool,Select The .dll Then The .tot/.bin File And You Are Ready To Flash The Firmware,Connect The Phone In Download Mode When Asked.
Note :
I Don't Know Whether It Works For N4 Converted Devices.I Had Successfully Flashed Stock .20 .bin File With It.But I Suggest To Use This Only When LGNPST Does Not Work/Fails To Flash The FW As For Me.Please Don't Perform Unwanted Experiments With Your Device Or It Will Result In A Hard Brick.
This Guide Was Originally Created By madmack @ Optimus G Pro Section So Thanks To Him.
I was Searching For The .dll File For Our Device And Found It So Decided To Create A Thread. And Those Who Are Thinking That The Required .dll Is The Same That We Use For LGNPST,NO,This Is A Different .dll
It Did Not Ask For Unlock Code When I Flashed The Stock JB FW.But As Posted By madmack there is A Possibility That It Can Ask For Your Unlock Code.So Proceed With Caution.
Again This Is A Alternate To LGNPST And Only I Have Successfully Flashed The Stock FW.It Is Recommended That Unless It Is Tested By 4-5 Experienced Users,Its A No Go For Noobs/New Users.
And Be Advised That This Process Will Wipe Your Internal Storage.
Enjoy!

Edit: There are many more things to do in his (madmack) thread... Did u follow them all? Or for us we do not need all those steps? Let us know before someone bricks.. I use LGNPST but if anyone tries this.. at least they have a better understanding. thanks again for sharing.
just a heads up.. TeenyBin does not work in LG Flash. There are extra CRC checks which I haven't been able to bypass yet. This may change in the future.
also, not sure if this version of LG Flash is same as the newer one I use but I have to set the COM port to 40+ for LG flash to see my device.. altho maybe I'm missing something. I have to go into windows device manager and manually change the COM port used for the phone ( its in properties ).
LG Flash is no better or worse than LGNPST in my opinion. On the plus side.. there's no dll to register... and options are good

I've try to found the download link for the Lg Flash tool on this page, but i haven't. Can you fix it or explain? Thanks anyway.
Which .TOT and .DLL files will you be providing? I need the .DLL and .TOT file for, of course, the AT&T Optimus G E-970 US version! I flashed my wifes phone cause it boot looped and the .TOT used was SUPPOSED to be this file but it is the Korean FW. Now my wifes phone will not update via OTA because it changed her IMEI number. I need to get her phone back to stock 4.1.2 US VERSION!

Here is the file you need to get her phone back to STOCK U.S: http://downloads.codefi.re/g33k3r/LGE970AT-01-V20j-310-410-MAR-08-2013.zip I'm not sure on the DLL file, I use LGNPST so not sure if they are the same but attached it also just incase you can use it.. stock firmware file above is a .tot file so if you need to you can just change it to .bin if you need to.
Thank you blake but no. That is the fw file that turned her phone Korean. So may people are under the impression this is the stock US fw but it isn't. I even had another person here check their phone and his too in fact says "Lg Electronics Korea".

Where do you go check to see if its U.S or Korean?
All settings--> about phone -->phone Identity.
It's under settings-->about phone-->phone identity.
I had another person tell me that's normal because it's only the "manufacturer" info. Which im told this phone is manufactured in Korea. I don't know. All I do know is everyone is saying this is the stock fw for this phone but my wifes phone has changed. The start up screen is different and so is the shut down screen. Example, when her phone would shut down, she would get the AT&T logo and sound. After flashing this file she gets the blue circle and no sound. I do know that 4.1.2 is different depending on the region the phone is in. I don't know anything else that would explain this. Maybe this FW file WAS a different region but it was stripped out and converted somehow?

After a little checking I found out the same thing, It was normal as it was the place of manufacturer. I'm not sure what the problem might be but as far as I know that's the stock firmware for the phone.. You might try this one out http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22901594685177912 you just boot into recovery do the normal wipes and flash through recovery, its supposed to be stock except for being rooted and as far as I know those are the only two stock files floating around for the phone...
Thanks Blake. Can you confirm for me that this phone will NOT get OTA updates if it's changed in any way, including rooting? It's what I was told by someone else. If that's the case then I guess there really is nothing wrong with the phone except those weird unexplained small changes.
I've got all the correct files download and I made it so far as to try to actually flash the phone, but it fails and gives me a wrong model number message because it's detecting my phone as a E960 (it's an E970). Any ideas? I had installed the latest CM11 ROM over some encrypted data and now I'm locked out (old encryption PIN doesn't work) and I can't restore it to stock.
can someone help me with a .tot or .bin stock for lg l70 d320n? cuz i"ve looked for it everywhere but couldn"t find anything
need help bad.
i got this phone from a friend and it originally had cm11 on it. the phone in question is the lg e970. i wanted to get back to stock. so i downloaded the correct firmware and added it to my external sd card. using twrp before i proceeded to wipe the phone via twrp. when it was finished i restarted the phone into twrp and went to install the stock firmware and i could not find my exsd card. twrp does not recognize it at all. so now im stuck with a phone with no os on it. i can ge into twrp and download mode, and when i just boot the phone it goes to lg logo and stays there. i need help in trying to figure out how to get stock firmware back on phone. i am used to samsung phones and odin. so im a noob when it comes to lg. i am very tech savy when it comes to computers. plzzzzzz any help would be great!!!!!!!! and appreciated
I can not add .tot file in LG flash tool
I have unrooted my lg g3 before on another computer. But i can't add the .tot file with my new computer. I am doing everything the same.
Does anyone have any ideas?

[Firmware Needed] Galaxy S4 SCH-I545PP (Verizon Prepaid)

I'm in search of firmware for the S4 running 4.3 or 4.4. I haven't gotten this phone yet but verizon is selling it through Walmart on prepaid. I know the firmware isn't gonna be the same as if it was on contract verizon. I have the S3 right now and it's prepaid. Many argued that there wasn't a NF5 firmware but turns out there is and i used it many times to fix soft bricks on the S3 using Odin. So I'm pretty sure the prepaid side of the S4 will have different firmware then one on contract verizon would have. So that being said, does anyone have 4.3,4.4 or even 5.0 firmware they can share that will work with Odin? Not sure if the S4 got the 5.0 update. Just assuming it did. Any help is appreciated!
Anyone? Please?

OK never mind. I need 5.0.1 firmware. Not 4.3 or 4.4. Any help would be great
I can't think of any reason as to why post paid firmware would be different than prepaid. You can use the phone for either.
And you're posting jn the wrong forum, which is probably why nobody is helping you. Because you didn't bother to read the rules before posting.
Try the general section or Android development section. Click the search button and type firmware. I'm sure you'll find it faster than it took you to make all these posts. Good luck
still no help

I think what sob372 was saying is the hardware in the phone is the same as the contract so you can just follow the SCH-I545 stuff and it will work.
being that I just got this same phone S4 prepaid used I'll be playing with it to root it, install safestrap and probably downgrade it from Lollipop to Kitkat. So I'll let you know if you don't find more here by searching and I'm sure there are relevant posts if you dig around a bit.
BTW the S4 PP does have a SIM slot.

It just seems really sketchy to do with the contract firmware. Like I get the feeling that if I flash the firmware from contract, I'll lose any cell phone service under prepaid. I just don't want to end up with a big paper weight. The modules could be different. With the S3 I had which was prepaid also. I used safestrap and superlite rom was the best one I got to work with the prepaid version. The system always kept crashing but it would load if I put it under stock an not a rom slot. I had to get the i535pp module to fix the Wi-Fi problem but if I had no service cause of the sim issue then I didn't want it. Also I'm not sure but I think there is no safe strap for the s4 running lollipop. I believe the forum said it would cause bootloops if you tried. Just like you need to deodex for xposed cause of the changes in art

If you can confirm all is in working order with the contract firmware (can't remember what the build is) with the prepaid phone, I'll give it a go.
Update
A member already tried the OC1 postpaid firmware on the prepaid. They said all works but the camera and charging don't work. So that's out of the question
I been looking around on the net and best I've come up with is backing up the firmware. I tried using flash fire to get back ups of every partition. Then I used Odin package creator to try an make a firmware file to use with Odin but when I tried it out in Odin, it stopped at data so I took out my personal data then it stopped at something with number 3 at the end. Can't recall what it was. So if anyone can test more on this to have any luck. Maybe then we can get the firmware out to people in case sammobile decides not to or takes another year to release it
I've been trying a different approach to getting a copy of the OH7 firmware. I've been attempting to use Fiddler4 + the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant tool that comes on my phone (Verizon Prepaid Galaxy S4 model SCHI-545KPP) to get a download link to the original rom file... I can't get the bloody link to download with Fiddler or an internet browser, as i get a 403 forbidden error. I'll keep trying, maybe I can find the downloaded file in my temp files while attempting to recover my phone? It will take some time but I'll keep trying.
*update* So I located where the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant stores its files (compressed and extracted). The location is C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Verizon_AR .
I unfortionally didn't figure this out until after I royally soft bricked my phone. Right now I have a OF1 recovery installed on the phone, and the assistant keeps trying to install the OF1 firmware (and it fails). If anyone could check that folder for the OH7 firmware, or post a backup of the OH7 recovery, you'd be doing me a huge favor. I think we'll have the OH7 firmware after this one way or another.
*edit* This is 100% confirmed now. C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Verizon_AR\SCH-I545_I545VRUGOF1_FACTORY\decrypt produced a zip file that is 100% identical to the OF1 firmware zips out there. This decrypt subfolder didn't appear until after the file was completely downloaded, and the Software Repair Assistant had started to try and flash the rom. This data is deleted after the phone completes flashing (or fails to flash). If you select "delete" after this information is downloaded, the encypted rom file is deleted and you must start all over again.
If someone could check that folder who has used the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant to recover their phone, using the tool on your phone again and you'll get the decrypt folder... if you zip/rar that folder, we'll finally have the backup files we can post somewhere.
the PP phone uses the same firmware as the normal one that guy that tried it
did something wrong
just flash the OF1 tar via odin and be done with it

I'm trying out your idea. If i can get the file them I'll upload it. If not, I'll still be able to at least send you a back up of the oh7 recovery. Mines all still stock. Id hate to get stuck with a paperweight until the correct firmware is released. That's why I'm careful lol. The firmware is downloading right now. It says it's a enc4 file though. Maybe just cause its downloading at the moment. I'll just wait an see an I'll let you know

A few people who used of1 on the pp version had issues. Not one came out with no issues far as i know. So I'd rather be safe then sorry. Not saying your incorrect but I'm just trying to play it safe and careful. Appreciate the input though

Yes, while it is downloading it will be a .enc4 file. Even after downloading it will stay like that, but when you got to actually flash the file, it will decrypt and the encrypted version will appear in that /decrypt folder.

so im confused. do i need the encrypted or decrypted file for it to work with odin? i tried changing the file to zip format and open it with winrar after it downloaded in the software but it came up as an unknown archive or damaged. so im not sure what im doing wrong but ill keep trying
UPDATE: i have tried getting the file through verizons handy tool and i did get the decrypted folder along with the unzip folder during it was finishing up repairing my s4. i just copied the file from the decrypted folder and extracted it during the repair. so now im using odin 3.10.7 and testing it out now to see if it will flash successfully. if all goes well, i will make new thread with the firmware link inside it so users dont need to scroll through pages to find the link. first anyone know a good or popular upload storage i can use to upload the firmware to for others to use? i tried uploading onto here but i keep getting a connection timeout
UPDATE 2: ive got it! i made the firmware of OH7! finally. you can go ahead and head over to this thread TheXev. use it and youll be back to stock

Thank you so much. I was close to taking this phone back and not getting another simply because I really need a phone to replace my S3 for tethering soon. But if you got the firmware, I can flash it back to working order, and hopefully get some deodexed roms (that way I can install Xposed framework). Thanks again!

I need an Odin expert, that knows how to.....

....... create an ODIN flash file from .img files........ I know there are numerous threads regarding this topic but having never done it before I'd think a little help would be wise (for the actual process).
Too this end, I've zipped up three files; system.img recovery.img and boot.img. They are for a Samsung device and are known good files. I can not fastboot flash them; my fast boot is broken (don't ask). However, Odin connects perfectly to my PC (with the device in download mode, of course .
If someone could either do the actual conversion, or point me to a procedure that ACTUALLY works, I'd be most appreciative. I'd upload the files here, but they're too big. If you want to try and help me do this, I could easily email the zip file to you, however.
BTW, I'm able to examine the contents of system.img with ex2explore.exe, but not the other two files. I assume they are not the same format??
And, yes (if it makes any difference) my boot loader is unlocked. Thanks, everyone.
Boowho??
