A few days ago I flashed CM nightly 141 & found that the CRT-like screen off animation works. (It didn't work before). And I was like But yesterday I flashed nightly 149 & the screen off animation is gone. Yes, I've check the display setting & it's checked on.
It's too random. Normally, from what I have seen, "poking around" in recovery and bootloader mode (Enabling / disabling fastboot etc), or flashing additional stuff reactivates it. While for some, a simple reboot activates it, while for others, a wipe of the dalvik cache enables it.
Obviously, theres no logic to this, because, as I said, its too random. There's no way to guarantee it will work, yet. You can try "fiddling about", if it is so necessary to you.
For me it works with a simply restart!
Most of the time, it will work after wiping dalvik cache, but it's too random :-( I had to disable it to get my mentality back hehe

I couldn't agree with you more
It's not exactly the same thing but I found "Screen Off and Lock" on market to be usefull.

i upgraded to the leaked ICS rom on my ATT samsung galaxy note and even thoug i love it i have some issue with calls and the phone dialler in general.. i will try to outline them below. Does any one else have this issue and know of a fix?
1) when clicking on the phone icon, it takes like for ever to load the dialler (as long as 10-15 seconds)
2) lots of lag when clicking on "call log" or even dialing numbers
3) during calls i frequently have blank moments where both parties cant hear each other
4) call just disconnects for no aparent reason
5) if i want to end a call i keep clicking on the red "cancel" button with no luck.. the call just does not end and i see the timer incrementing
6) when #5 happens, everything hangs, there is a black screen then i get a message saying "Contacts" crashed
i have confirmed hat i dont have a signal issue i always check the signal when this happens and am at full bars.
I am Android 4.0.3
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated..
Did you clear the cache partition and dalvik cache when you flashed? Also fix permissions through cwm before you reboot. Thays been known to cause a lot of problems with the systems. Id try thatfirst and see if that clears it up!

thanks for your response.. no i did not do any of those things.. i just flashed right away..
what in your opinion should i do now? flash again? or can i avoid that somehow?
my phone is NOT rooted..
Ya can go into cwm and clear the cache partition then clesr dalvik cache without reflashing. Id do it like three times just to make sure the clearance took. Then before ya reboot fix permissions then reboot and hopefully everything is good. What ics rom are you using. Most if not all the custom roms are rooted.

I was running AOKP for over a month and the notification pull down would work while on the lock screen with no problems at all. One day, it just stopped working and I have no idea why. I of course wiped the Dalvik cache and did a full reinstall and it still didn't work. I even switched over to Serendipity 9 and it also doesn't work on that ROM either. I've used the CM9 kernal and Fluxxi and it doesn't work on either. The weird thing is that if I restart my phone, the notification pull down will work ONCE after rebooting then stop working for all attempts after that. If it helps, I do not have my SIM card installed. I don't have any security set for my lockscreen. It's at the default slide unlock. Any ideas?

Im not on latest, on 6-7 still, and its working.
but it could be a fix from AOKP themselves, it could be a bug, tho I see it as a nice feature.
Or It could just be that you need to full wipe. Funny how you started a thread before doing that.

I did several full wipes and reinstalls of AOKP and Serendipity. I believe I solved the issue: The SIM card needs to be in the phone during the first boot and can be taken out after that. So far it's been working for an hour without any problems.
Anyone using CM10, does your phone ever experience any lockups/reboots during or after a phone call? There's been a few cases where my phone would reboot during a call, and fail to make any calls for a brief period of time after. I can make or pickup the calls, but I can't hear anything and the other end can't hear anything. Rebooting or powering off does not resolve the issue, and it somehow starts working again sometime after I give up with it. It's been getting more and more consistent with the latest updates, and happens on the stock kernel, h0tcakez, and KKO.
Just wondering if it's my phone or CM10
All the jelly bean roms do that to my phone. I think it may be lack of an official jb kernal. Might be wrong about that, but I think I read that somewhere.

phone lock up
I have epinter's 2012-10-11 ROM for the Atrix 4G and occasionally I will not be able from the contact list. But the direct phone dialer still works. Sometimes reboot fixes it; sometimes not.
I get the exact same problem, and it drives me nuts, every time its happened the only fix has been to completely wipe the phone (unroot, rerooot etc. etc.) Driving me completely nuts. Also, the issue is present in both CM9 and CM10 and seems to happen at random.

I had one reboot during a call but thats about it. I been running this rom since 12/27...u might want to use FJ's kernel. This is how I flash all roms and it seems to have less or non reboots on JB. After you have flash the rom and ur device boots up, I go back to recovery before setting up my phone and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. It seems that by doing that before setting my device, . ...helps a lot. GL

Hi
I've been using Longhorn 2.9.3 from a fresh install and really love the rom.
Everything works great except where lately I've been having issues where the phone just reboots out of the blue.
This has happened on average 10-15 times this past week.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Nico

Cheers mate,
I haven't installed any apps since about a week before this started.
Do you know of any apps that may cause this? as removing them one at a time and waiting for it to happen again is going to take ages.
It seems to have gotten better this last week.. only 1 or 2 reboots.
Further Indications......
Hi folks,
I'm having the same issues with Longhorn 2.9.3 Final, but it only seems to randomly reboot when the the phone is left idle and the screen goes off, So my first attempt was to disable the lock screen - no effect, then I tried certain background apps, such as Go Launcher EX, followed now by Facebook, and a local taxi app, nothing as yet.
I have tried wiping various caches, but it made no difference unfortunately.
If anybody know anything relevant to this issue don't hesitate but to share it with us, please.
I really am very fond of this custom ROM, and don't want to abandon it.
Thanks in advance
Ben.

After going through clearing caches, replacing internal and external SD cards, cleaning the back door blah blah blah I found the following.
When I ran the Maps app, it asked if I wanted to use wifi for location to which I responded yes... mistake! If the wifi location option is checked, the phone seems try to use wifi when it is asleep and ends up rebooting.
I found this by turning the wifi off which made the phone sleep without re-booting and then by turning wifi on and disabling wifi location in Maps.
A long, involved process but now my Streak is rock steady and I don't have to think about reverting to a stock ROM... hooray

.
Stability update...
Uptime 600h
Previously would reboot twice a day or more
Very happy with the ROM now
I am having this problem also
I have a reboot problem as described above. The problem is that when I disable the use wireless networks option it does not disable. That is I leave the screen. Go back to it and it is still checked.
Please Help.
Web....
what kernel and baseband have you using?
Same here...
I 've been faceing the same problem exactly... latest longhorn randomly reboots, usually first the 3 buttons flash a few times before the reboot...
I downloaded and installed the 407 baseband and radio, then longhorn, did all wipe and dell reset, still the same ...
I've read this forum a few times, still though, would anyone be so kind to direct me towards a link here, where I could in fact revert the dell to an official rom version, before trying anything else?
Tnx in advance

I ended up disabling the Wifi location and my Streak works great. I had some app installed that was messing with me disabling/changing the wifi location settings. Sometimes I could not even disable wifi.
I remove a ton of apps. Was able to disable location via wifi and my phone has been working great ever since.
I can confirm that I had a problem with this and disabling it fixed it.
No clue what the problem is, but over the last month my randomly phone gets into these periods where it absolutely crawls and almost stops responding entirely. Can only be fixed by rebooting. Latest JB OTA (98.72.16), rooted.
I have tried going into the task manager and killing apps but nothing seems to work. I've also frozen a few of the suspected offenders (such as Facebook) but no help there either. Cleaned Dalvik cache, booted to recovery and deleted cache too. I finally did a hard reset but the problem returned within a week.
How can I troubleshoot what app(s) are doing this? Is there stuff in the development menu that could be helpful?

try flashing an ota based rom through BMM. eg rage rom , jellywiz or even dwiz 1.0
Same here on 982.124.14 Vodafone retail EU. It's driving me nuts. Thinking of switching to CM10.1 to see if that's any better.

U may only find more instability on cm. But that depends from phone to phone. Best choice right now is stick based roms. Cm will take another 2 weeks min to get more stable
