Galaxy tab 10.1 io edition - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
Bought my ltd edition tab off eBay as live in uk and couldn't wait until now for the official release...
However, not being a developer, I'm wondering if I'm being left behind as the touchwiz ux update seems like it's not going to be pushed out to these tabs... Don't get me wrong, although I own a SGS2, I had a Nexus One and loved it and do miss being the first in line for updates and loved stock Android. Will there be anymore updates for my tab? Is the 10.1 io the new honeycomb Nexus for now?
Whilst I'm doubting this, I can't see me rooting my beloved tablet, just don't know enough and live in fear of bricking it...
Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks.
Jamie

Looking for a good Android tablet. Your opinions?

Im looking for a good tablet, but i dont know who i should pick.
I want it to have good specs and run ICS.
Would also be good if it has a good developer community, easily rootable and may roms and mods to back it up.
Sorry if my english is bad
Thanks in advance!

Google nexus tablet coming out in a month or two... is a good option if youre willing to wait.
motorola xoom has everything your looking for!
Acer Iconia =)
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1. I´m deeply contended.
The only thing that sucks is the update policy of samsung. I´m waiting for the update to 4.0 for month.
So, if you chose a Samsung tab, take the newer generation wich has 4.0 as stock.
Galaxy Tab
I have a Galaxy Tab 8,9 and love it!
It will get ICS soon.
I think this is the best platform to develop because the screen has a middle size for a tablet (>7" and <10"), so you can have a good idea of how your apps will be rendered on various screen sizes.
I would wait and see what Google has in store for the upcoming Nexus tablet.

There isn't one right now. In my opinion, ASUS makes the best but I've yet to see an Android tablet that doesn't have lag. I'm not an Apple fan but I can clearly see that iPad leads the way in the tablet market. I love Android, but there has yet to be a tablet produced that matches the iPad as far as performance/usability goes.
Having said that, I'm super excited for the Nexus tab. If it is everything it's being cracked up to be, it'll be the first Android tablet worth buying.
BTW...I have a Xoom, Transformer TF101, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and 2 Kindle Fire's...I'm not just blowing off steam here.

How good for you to consider as "good"? dual-core or quad-core?
Also, do you care whether it's 7" or 10"?
Minimum dual core , i dident even know they made quad core tablets

For 7", Google Nexus (made by Asus) and Acer A110 are supposed to be real good. I would pick the Nexus.
For 10", we will have Toshiba (geez, I forgot the model# ), the Asus Pad, the Sammy Galaxy Tab 2.
galaxy tab 10.1
or acer iconia tab
tested both and theyre really awesome
I love the Galaxy Tab 2. It just depends on what you want to do with it.

Hy Man Wait till The New Nexus Tablets come out It'll be Cheap With Good Specs
U can chk my thread to know abt the Sony Nexus Tablet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1712105
I'd wait for the Nexus or to get a tablet that has reliable custom ICS rom. Just to avoid having to wait on a vendor to provide you with updates.
Acer iconia a series. I have the a500. Many roms to chose from. Flexreaper rocks.
Howevere if your willing to wait the google nexus (asus nexus) is soon to be released and it promises to be a very affordable powerhouse.

When to expect JB ROMS?

When will JB ROMS be coming to the samsung vibrant, i know that there is already some work for the g-nexus but nothing about the sgs models. Does anybody know when?
I'm assuming soon after Google releases the code for it.
android 4.1
I hope sooner rather then later
When it gets to devices such as the Nexus S, I9000, or basically any Galaxy S family device (first gen)
IT has the potential to run on the Vibrant.
I am also hearing that the Nexus S is getting an official google update, so if that is true, we will get it for sure.

The NOTE will get it for sure, no doubt about that, it just won't be through Samsung as they will want to put Touchwiz on top of it, which will take about 1 year, and by then the new version KAKA will be released.
haha
There is already an alpha version that was released

Looks like Google just released the JB code into AOSP..
Roms will happen when they happen If I were to take a wild guess, I would say in the in the future sometime.
Patience! Count your blessings that we have awesome devs that gave us ICS!
View attachment 1189948 already fully booted on my phone.
^ Ha, very punny sir... Very punny indeed.
Yes, and we should really encourage them by donating anything for their cause. They're not really getting paid to do this, but they are doing it anyway. I recently just donated $5 to a dev that has helped me through a couple of problems, may not seem much but a little can go a long way
I can't wait to see what all these developers and going to create now that the source code is out. It will be a while with some dev teams starting from scratch but it will be worth the wait.

On a more serious note, to answer your question: Sammy' has already started rolling out ICS on its gtabs. So far, the 7 and 7Plus variants have gotten the glory, so 10.1ICS should be home in a week or two. I suspect next week should be 8.9 ICS.
Other than that...sit back, relax, and play monopoly. Sammy' is probably the worst manufacturer to have when it comes to updates.

lg its even worse.. In fact all of them suck lol.. but that's why teams as cyanogen and aokp exist.. so you don't have to wait for oems.. either that or get a Google branded device and flash Google factory images.. so that you will get updates as soon as Google releases it.. I mean even the old grandpa nexus S think that more than 2 years old device already got jb that's because they are Google phones

Official Jelly Bean on AT&T note

Hey all,
I didn't think that Samsung was planning to upgrade the original Note but just read an article on Slashgear saying that there is one on the way.
Is an official JB ROM on its way?

They announced a while back we were getting it. Now whether Samsung plans to release it to carriers in October, or carriers plan to release it in Oct is another question.

Thanks for the info!

Uhm...
That's the international version, not our version.
sent from my chunk...
I hope I'm wrong ....
But in the context of that article ...the author could just as well have meant upgrade to JB in the form of a new device, not just software.
And yes .that is the international version they are referencing ....g
Got and E-Mail from SamMobile today:
Samsung to start with Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) updates for the next devices:
Galaxy S III
Galaxy S II
Note
Note 10.1
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Galaxy Tab 2 8.9
The updates are planned for Q4.
There are rumours about Ace 2 and Advance Jelly Bean updates. We cannot confirm this at the moment.
I'm not sure if it's of any consolation, just my contribution.
Might only be for the International version. Crossing fingers for the i717.

Let's hope that this apply to our version of our Notes and not the international. We're still waiting for the XXLRQ update even though we can use some of its features already via apk extraction.

I would think we'd be seeing some JB leaks. But considering that it takes Samsung a while to update the international note (which is higher on their priority scale then at&t or tmo note), and the fact that article said nothing about AT&T, I would guess this update is for the GT-N7000 only.
If there is an AT&T note update, it'll probably be a few months after that.
Just from what I've seen with other samsung international vs. carrier specific phones.
We didn't see gb leaks for the at&T note before the official update rom came out.
Don't see why it wouldn't come out or that at&T isn't a priority... I am sure they sold with enough not to want piss off first note owners and screw up 3rd generation note sales.
My opinion of course.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I swear, when ICS was officially released from AT&T, I was so happy. I backed up my latest ICS developer ROM, think it was h0tw1r3's, then went and installed the official ICS. I ran that crap for one day. Immediately restored my phone back to a developer ROM. So much bloated crap on there and seemed so slow.
I really don't think I am ever installing back an official release, BUT I do miss S-Memo, and yes I know about other apps similar, but the new features coming on the Note2 with S-Memo, idk... Looks very tempting.
People, the Att Note also is Note. Samsung said 'Note' and that incluses all versions of Note. So just wait. It will come.

+1. If you're an old school AT&T and Samsung owner, you know AT&T is slow to update. Took almost 8 months for me to get official GB on my Captivate from the time they announced it. Not even mentioning the wait for Eclair to Froyo They have gotten better though. We'll get it.

[Q] Buy One X or wait for new Nexus?

Hey everyone, I currently have an AT&T iPhone 4S that I got a couple months ago, around April. Previously I had the HTC Inspire 4G, and while I loved Android, the phone had a tiny battery and got no signal so I switched back to iOS. I was very involved in rooting and custom ROM's and everything, so that's not an issue. My mom has an upgrade available, and she wants to have my iPhone 4S (she has the 4, and doesnt want the 5). She's allowed me to use her upgrade to get a new phone, as I'm going to give her mine. I want to jump back onto Android because I love Jelly Bean and the new MIUI and CM10 ROMs. I'm kindof in a bind now, because since i just spent 300$ on my iPhone a couple months ago, my parents don't want me spending another 200$ for the Galaxy S3. The One X is only 99$ right now, but I like AOSP a lot better, Sense is alright, but not as nice as vanilla Android. I understand that I could just flash CM10, but I'm not sure if I should wait for the new Nexus which is apparently coming out in December. I also want a phone with a removable battery, so that's an issue with the One X, as it only has a 1800 mah battery. Should I wait until the new Nexus comes out, and will the S3 drop down in price? Or should I just pick up the one X? Thank you very much.
First of all, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
And second, if you really like rooting and modding and whatnot, the AT &T One X (One XL)is unrootable from its latest updates. And since you would be buying it new, it should be on one of its last few updates. So avoid that for now.
However the Gnexus is getting stale, so youre best bet is to wait
