IDK what's up with it. It's made out of 15 PNGs and the desc.txt file but for some reason I get a black screen.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
The permissions are the same as the one that's in Viper's Rom.
unzip COLDH33t.zip and put the zip(Sprint_bootanimation inside in /system/customize/resource )using root explorer or adb
let me if you have any problems

have you try any others and do they work?
i'll mess around with it and see if i can fix it and i'll post it up later.
edit: try this one and let me know(same rules as the first one)
this may seem like dumb question, but did you change the perms? bootanim is rwxrr or chmod 744, same with downanim. hope this helps.
I'm having the same issue. I am new to android and I am thinking its a id10T error
Any advice on what i did wrong?

Do I need to be rooted to use this, if not how do I install, sorry total nub
being rooted makes it easier to install, but you dont HAVE to be rooted to do it. You'll need to push it to your phone through adb, there are tons of guides on the net on how to do it.
ok thanks man
Is the system dump going to be up tonight?
Will this work on a vibrant? (Noob here) I know the tthemes work. Just wondering if this will as well. THanks for any help

Does this need to be installed through recovery? I tried it once but got no feedback and the screen just went back to install from zip.
Also, is this the red Droid animation or the green one?

I downloaded it real quick to check and it install an update.zip. You will need to push it through ADB or copy it to the media folder and replace the current bootanimation.zip using an app like root explorer (remember to set the 644 permissions!). Also its the red eye.
So I lost my galaxy s symbol that shows up when booting your vibrant on,so now that part of the boot up is just blank.
Does anyone know how to replace it with something else? I heard you can replace it with roms or zips or something?
the boot sequence on the vibrant is two .qmg files. The are located on /system/media and they are called bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. just replace those two files and you should get it back. you can grab them from one of the many threads regarding "replacing boot and shutdown sequence"
How about you look at the top of the page and read the sticky

I just flashed the Vibrant boot screen. Didn't work - the boot sound occurs but no image.
I'll try the other one and see what happens.
EDIT: Same thing. Got sound but no image.

Same thing happened on mine. Those files must get deleted somehow on that operation which is odd.

Sorry for not having looked thoroughly enough, I seem to have been too worried about my phone. Won't happen again.
Is there a tool for this or a way to adb a new one? I was able to do it on the G1, the mytouch and G2. HELP, I have searched and searched to no avail. I have to get rid of that boring splash screen that says Samsung Vibrant.

Im no help, I just wanted to add that I am interested in changing the splash screen as well. I know its gotta be possible because Ive seen it done with the DoW kernel where "vibrant" was replaced with a pretty sweet picture of a dragon. Just thought Id chime in.
Should be possible somehow... i added a rom to my friends captivate (i know different phone) and its splash screen was changed to go with the rom... so there SHOULD be a way to go in and change it... heres a link to a video of that rom, you'll see what im talking about..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnZSQsfVhFk
I realize it is possible. I am just wondering the steps needed to do it. Usually a image editing program is neede also.

The D.O.W. Kernals that Team Whiskey has charge the boot screens. You may want to speak with one of them to see how they work their magic there.

I think you're referring the the boot screen. He's talking about the splash screen that says VIBRANT in plain black and white.
The boot animation is different from the splash screen. The splash its the Samsung vibrant screen you see before the boot animation. You will probably have to chmod the directory before you can change anything in there
Sent via my Samsung Galaxy S
I have sent
a message to the creators of the D.O.W. and have had no luck receiving anything back.
Opening a DOW zip file has the directory as such:
kernel_update
redbend_ua (307kb)
zImage (5685kb)
system
bin
sqlite3 (24kb)
etc
vold.conf (1kb)
vold.fstab (2kb)
build.prop (3kb)
So it would appear that it's either zImage or redbend_ua.

No, I was talking about the splash screen, not the boot screen. Instead of having the black and white vibrant screen, they have a picture of a bomb going off on the DOW Kernals. Download it and check it out.

I heard it was somewhere in zImage
all
of my prior splash screen changes have been done through adb or fastboot. I am pretty sure I shouldn't have to mess with a zimage to change this.

I know that it was a lot easier on the HTC devices and that's what I'm coming from pesonally. But I'm actually pretty certain that it is compiled in the zImage file. Which would mean that it would have to be decompiled, edited and recompiled with your desired image. It sounds like a lot of work but I'm sure that once you get everything set up it would be a breeze!
hmm
So what would I use to open this zimage and edit it?

What did you have to do the image to make it make it work for the 3d? What dimensions, etc.?
I would like to make my own and I'm not sure where to start. TIA.

540x960 saved as splash1.bmp, then ran through nbimg-1.1win32 (cmd line nbimg -F splash1.bmp -w540 -h960) then zipped up with the android info txt( you can rip it out of the one above) in normal and named PC86IMG(has to be just like that in caps)
Do you have to flash these or can you treat them as a boot animation (ie: put in system/customize/resources/ named" hTC_bootanimation.zip" The stock one looks just like a regular boot animation. Thanks in advance

no you dont flash them.
you put the PC86IMG.zip on your sdcard(name just like that remove anything other than PC86IMG and make sure there is only one with that name on sdcard) and boot into bootloader let the system find the file and then it will ask if you want to update press yes(volume up) and then it ask to reboot again press yes
Finally found one I liked (since it's obvious I wont be able to make mine until at least Monday..sigh). Renamed to PG86IMG.zip...sat it on the SD card root with no other zips around it...booted hboot...said yes...power to reboot...and I enjoyed.
i modified some files and now my prime wont boot up. it satys on the asus loading screen. i am on locked bootloader rooted .14. how do i replace the files with adb? i made a copy of the files i made and renamed them wit .bak at the end. i tried holding power+vol down and then vol down and got an android with a red triangle. i then tried adb shell from the command prompt but it said device not found. can some one help? thanks.
no one? i guess ill just go to asus for help.

I had been fighting with the same exact problem for the past 2 days!
I just fixed it by downloading the .21 firmware from Asus and renaming the extracted file EP201_SDUPDATE.zip. Manual update method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570696&page=13 post 128.
I am now up and running and if I can get adb going again I will do the downgrade and root. I probably will not mess with the build.prop for a while. Good Luck

Give this a try. Worked for us
did this delete your camera pics and videos? i did that last time and i lost my pics. but it was probably because i had done a factory reset before i tried this thinking that would fix it. but this shouldnt touch those files because its like an update right?
I can`t say 100% because I also did a factory wipe first. But I`m pretty certain it is just a manual update and you should be ok.
thanks alot bro. it worked and my stuff is still there.
Glad it all worked out! Enjoy

I tried this method by renaming the zip from within the extracted file and put in on a microsd card then i rebooted into system recovery and got the android with the red ex, so i rebooted but it goes back to the black screen after the epad logo and never forces the update. Any suggestions?
