Uninstall words with friends free? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After the TW update, I noticed I now have 2 words with friends--the free one I previously downloaded and the one that came with TW. I'm trying to uninstall the free one but I don't have the option to. I can only force stop and clear data. In the market, I only have the option to open or update. How can I get rid of it?

Would have to be rooted and you could use titanium backup to uninstall or delete the apk via root explorer or another root file explorer.

Any other app that does the same? I don't want to spend $6.50 Just to delete a couple of things, I'll only use it to delete like 5 things.. seems like a waste.
I downloaded the free one and it says it'll delete the app/reboot twice etc.. but it doesnt delete the app or reboot twice, Only restarts the phone
Don't use the 'force remove app' option then, just cliick the one you want to delete in the list and click uninstall.

Ok, but it's not that simple, you can't delete everything without consquences, search for the list of files that can be deleted without harm, from your specific ROM!

Market Showing App purchased when I have not

Hi guys,
I have been facing this problem fro the day I bought my milestone and still on my razr. I want to buy some apps from Android market which I really like but it does not let me to buy as it says "purchased" when I have not purchased these. I tried to detach those apps frm market thru titanium backup pro but still no help. Pl help guys.. Thanks.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
I believe the app is tied to your google account so it doesn't matter what device you try to access it from, it will always show up as purchased. You'll have to set up a different account and purchase the app through that account in order to re-purchase it or attempt to purchase the app.
If I use other acc to purchase it then my other apps that I have purchased will not b synced with that AC so will make no sense. But thanks for the help. Any other way guys or is it I m the only who is facing this problem.

Those apps registered in market as bought or installed are linked to email account and device IMEI, cleaning data and cache will not erase this registry

What happens when you click on the app? It does not give the option to download?
yesh same thing is happening to me
It happens because you had previously this app installed illegal, I did the same, I wanted to test tapatalk and I downloaded full version from the internet. Now I can't buy tapatalk because Market showing is already bought, I can't download and I can't buy it. It's really sucks cause I don't want to use it illegal.
Yup same thing.. It gives u an option to download but says download failed..

I found solution:
(You need root to do it)
1. Download Market v. 2.3.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028491
2. Uninstall Market updates and clear data and cache. Rename Phonesky.apk (In my RAZR it's the name of market, could be Vending.apk in other ROM's)
3. Use Root Explorer or ES File Explorer and copy Vending2.3.6.apk to /system/app (set permission same as other apk's). Reboot RAZR.
4. Run Android Market and very quick try to buy app of your choice. I had to do it twice because I had force close after a minute, when FC happens clear Android Market data and try again. I had FC during tapatalk downloading, it's no problem I installed it after I restored latest Market.
5. When you finished, delete Vendink2.3.6.apk from /system/app rename Phonesky.ap to Phonesky.apk, reboot and thats it! Now I have tapatalk Purchased
Can't you go to market on your computer (not the phone app) and remove old devices from your list? I remember needing to do this to get, IIRC, google voice to work correctly with my new phone at the time.
I imagine I will have to do the same tonight when the Droid comes in the Fed up truck.
The only ones you should have to repurchase are the ones tied specifically to the phone's id. The others should show up under "my apps" for redownloading.
That's what got me through this situation when I had it before.

I'm having the same issue. In my case I purchased some apps from the Amazon App Store. Now I want to get rid of all the Amazon apps (their app market isn't all that great) and replace them with their Android Market versions.
So this problem can occur without anyone stealing anything, fyi.
ETA: I just checked, and games purchased through the Humble Android Bundle are similarly effected--The Android Market thinks you own them, but will not let you purchase them through the Market. Bummer!
Humble Bundle, GetJar, Amazon...
Any luck guys with fixing this?
I have the same freaking problem with getjar! Will try your market fix.

[Q] Disabling bloatware / AT&T apps

I haven't seen a list of bloatware / AT&T apps that are safe to remove. So I thought I will ask:
- Which apps that you know are NOT SAFE to remove?
- I keep seeing in the task bar a double-arrow icon, indicating that an AT&T app is checking for software update. As a matter of fact, I did receive a message from it about a new software update. Which .apk I need to disable for this?
Again, this is only for the bloatware.
I deleted everything that had at&t in front of it. At&t messaging, my at&t, at&t navigation and the at&t update services thats the blue and red arrows you are seeing. I did this through task manager.

Thanks for the info. No problem so far with freezing these AT&T apps, including AT&T Update Services?
BTW, when you said "delete", did you mean "freezing it with Titanium Backup" or you actually REMOVE the .apk?
I froze the above apps using TB, but it is still shown in Google Play as being installed and needing update.
You can search XDA for "apps safe to remove". The SGS-II forums have a spreadsheet that works for the note.

With Google Play, the feature to DETACH from Market no longer works. So even if the app is frozen, it is still shown in Google Play, especially if there is an update.
This applies to ALL bloatware. After a while, you'll see tons of these in your Google Play list and you no longer can select
"Update All".
Can we SAFELY move the .Apk from /system/apps?
I deleted them. I froze them first and then deleted ecerything with at&t on it through task manager.

I delete a majority of the bloatware, especially if I know I will never use it.
How did you DELETE these built-in apps?
There is NO uninstall feature, even when accessing it from System --> Applications --> Manage Applications.

If you have root on your phone, many third party apps will allow you to delete them. A popular one around here is Titanium Backup. I highly suggest installing this and purchasing the key (although the free version will work just as well). Its a staple in apps to install for rooted phones.
I deleted them through task manager. I used the uninstall feature. Try it.

same here, social hub deleted and no problems........and of course all the AT&T crap since I'm with TMobile
Just a helpfull hint for safety.
Personaly I would use titanium backup (in batch) to freeze apps you may want to uninstall.. leave them frozen for a few days to ensure there are no problems.. if once your sure there are no problems you can uninstall them (delete).. Uninstall can be done most of the time though the task manager .. but if that does not work titanium backup will most defently do it..
As someone else pointed out.. I did a search for i717 app safe to remove and got this nice spread sheet..

How can I delete YouTube?

[Q] Rooted device, still can't delete AT&T apps.

I rooted my device using the framaroot method, and I still can't delete the at&t apps that came preinstalled. Not sure what to do next. Any advice?
Yes.
Install Titanium Backup. There is a free version. Then find the apps you want to remove, and use the Freeze feature in TiBu first for a while to make sure that there are no dependencies. It functions just like deleting the app, but you can unfreeze it if there are problems. You can also delete apps with TiBu.
Also use this to back up your applications. To make it easier, buy the full version from the developer, which has batch back up and other features. It's a pain to try to back up apps one at a time.
Of course Yes. Titanium is the best app for backup, restore, delete app

AT&T KitKat...Bloatware. Wild Tangent

Wild Tangent game spyware refuses to be uninstalled. Using Rom Toolbox, when I try to uninstall it, launches and updates. I've tried multiple times and with other apps. I've killed the app, frozen the app and then tried. It always relaunches. I hate that developer and their crap. Any ideas?

If you're rooted, just disable it using pm
First, find out the com name of the app. This will list all packages installed
Code:
pm list packages -f
Then disable it
Code:
pm disable com.name.of.app
I used Solid Explorer and just deleted it then rebooted. It doesn't load if it isn't there. I forget the path. I think it was system root\vendor\app or it could have been system root\system\app. It's gone so I can't tell for sure where it was but someone can verify the path.

WildTangent is a tenacious bastard
Wow. I've tried everything above with no joy. In my latest efforts, I:
1. Turned off auto update in Play
2. Used Root explorer to delete all associated files I could find found in
a. emulated/0/JuMobile/recyclebin (from System App Uninstaller)
b. system/priv-apps
c. storage/emulated/wildtangent
3. Removed with System App Uninstaller (1st try), App Quarantine (2nd try), Titanium Backup (3rd try).
4. Restart
Each time it didn't go through the restoration process immediately after uninstall, like it would without deleting the files, and the uninstallers indicated success. Unfortunately, after restarting, WildTangent was still there. I really hate to go much farther from stock than I already am because I've had difficulties arise in the past with "stock" ROMs on my S4, but it looks like the next stop is a pre-cleaned stock ROM unless someone has a better idea.
Currently on HTC One (M8)... Rooted factory OS, slightly debloated
