how to disable the Blur music app, only use Google - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot stand the Blur music app, mainly because you can't browse an artists songs by artist, only by their album (ie if I have an artist with 5 songs from 4 albums, I cannot listen to them in a row without going back and changing album, take up battery life). I downloaded the new Google one, like it, tho I don't care for the cloud part, but when I run it, after I've ended the Blur music app in task manager, it comes back on when I run the Google one.
If I freeze the Blur one via Titanium Backup, will I run into problems?
Also, anyone know if Blur is gonna update that? I do love their internet radio feature, I don't even use pandora. I like a lot on the GB Blur, just not the music app.

I have completely uninstalled it with Titanium Backup and has been using Music Playerpro since.
Absolutely no problems a week since removing it.

go into menu>settings>applications>manage applications>All>Music (the motorola one) and select clear defaults. next time you load a music file it will ask you to select your media player and you can pick Google Music and set as default.

Decent "Media Go" alternative (better syncing)

Hi fellas,
I found a decent alternative to Media Go, which seems to have some flaws.
getsongbird.com/ (can't post links yet)
It's called "Songbird", and has both Windows and Mac apps, but also one for Android that contains a decent widget to place on your home screen. Seems to sync way better than the standard Media Go.
For those who are interested, here's a bit of a background story to it.
Just wanted to share what I've been messing around with today. Media Go is supposed to be what iTunes is to iPod/iPhone: a decent mediaplayer as well as a sync tool to sync your music and vids to your Xperia S and such.
Now I have a bit of an OCD when it comes to my iTunes library: everything needs to be perfectly organized with with correct mp3 tags and album art. So all the songs in my iTunes are as correct as it gets. But today, I wanted to sync my iTunes library to my Xperia S using Media Go. I was glad to see that they had incorporated "sync your iTunes library", so I did that and it added all my music. Looked pretty good, all the album art was still there and so on.
So I synced my music to the phone, only to find out that for some reason I still haven't been able to identify, it messed up quite a lot of songs. All of a sudden, I had 350 songs from "unknown artists" and stuff like that. Not good. Tried to find the source of these mistakes, fixed some tags here and there but on the phone, it stayed like that.
I then decided to try a third-party app called Songbird. It has a Windows app as well as a droid one and a widget, and I tried adding my iTunes library. Seemed to do the job, so I synced it to my phone and bam, no more unknown artists and a perfectly sorted music library on my phone. It's perfectly organized in the standard music player, but also in the Songbird droid app and the widgets both work like a charm.
So here's my tip for all you guys who also would like to have a perfect music library on their devices: use Songbird if Media Go ****s up.
Hope this helped some people.
Never heard of that app but really anything beats Media Go no?
I've been using an app called 'doubleTwist' for a couple of months now and it works perfect as well. You can easily select which iTunes playlist to Sync and all the rest is automatic.
So I can recommend that program to

Doubletwist works really well.
are there any new alternatives foe Media Go?

[Q] Google Music and Album Art

Where does Google music grab the album art from? Browsing through my collection the vast majority are horrific. I mean seriously small scale images, barely recognizable on the tablet.
Is there an app or program that allows a quick(ish) update of the album art? I dont have the time or energy to sift through 600 albums and update all the art manually.
It's just depressing. Google music isn't great by any means, but this is something so basic. Yet it seems to use the smallest files it can find and stretch them out to a horrible result?
Also is it true that there is no way to use a 3rd party music app with google music? No other player seems to be able to detect the music on my phone despite having several playlists pinned to the device?

Anyone know where playlists are stored for stock Music app?

Tired of having to recreate them after flashing new ROMs. I tried backing up the Music app in Titanium and then restoring the data to a new ROM but that didn't seem to work.
Don't know, but I'm with you on this. I lost my playlist 3 weeks ago, and won't recreat it on my phone sd. It's pointless, b/c I always loose it. I have it on my pc, & I sync with my Amazon Cloud. I access it from there. The only downside is I need an internet connection, but until I hear of a better solution, its what I'm sticking with.

it seems that playlist handling is kinda wonky on the stock Music app. I have a playlist that I sync from my computer using DoubleTwist, and the Music app only sees the first version of the playlist, it never displays the updated versions of it.
only workaround that's worked for me is using another player, even though I'd prefer using the stock one...
Poweramp Music Player in the market allows backup of playlist files to the SD card. This is a huge missing feature from the stock Music players that I thought would have long been overcome by now. Poweramp is $5, but it will be the best $5 you have ever spent if you flash a lot of ROMs!
I downloaded the trial, and imported the playlist to Poweramp from system. Then I deleted the playlist from stock Music app. Exported playlist from Poweramp and rebooted and it didn't show up in the stock music app. So then I moved the .m3u8 playlist file to /sdcard/Music and the stock music app saw the playlist but it was empty. Did I do something wrong?

[Q] Play Music --> HTC Music App

Hi all. Quick question:
I have google play all access, and I have stored the music locally on my device. I was wondering if there is a way to get all of my google play music files to play through the HTC Music app. Reason being, I want to install the Harmon-Kardon edition mod, but looks like the most benefit comes from using the HTC Music app. Does anyone know how I might go about sourcing all the google play files onto the HTC Music app?
Stock rooted, S-OFF, with latest OTA
Thanks!

The Harmon Kardon mod is really about enhancing compressed music, though it also supports 192khz via flac's, but you are asking about Play Music, which is compressed, even at high quality. The bottom line is that the mod works on all music apps, from Spotify, to Google Play Music exactly the same as it does for the HTC Music app. Technically, you can play the G Play music mp3's on any player, if you are rooted. You just need to move them to another folder. The down side is that the G Play app names all of the songs numerically, like 7483.mp3, so in the end, you are better off just using whatever music app you normally use.
another thing you can do is go into your default.xml file and edit the line pertaining to music channel (turning it on the rebooting, making sure the change has been saved). This allows me to play my playlists off Google music with the HTC player features, giving me access to the visualizer, lyrics (when applicable) etc, and the HK mod icons are active
Soon as I start a song, I get a notification that Music Channel is available, I click the notification and there it is

Best music manager for Android?

I'm hoping to get some advice/suggestions as to the best iTunes-esque desktop based music manager to use to organise and sync playlists on my phone. I do have a subscription for Youtube Music so I do use that to listen to music most of the time but I also like to have my music collection and playlists remotely on my phone too.
Previously, I have used MusicBee to do this and I have all of my songs, album art and playlists organised on there but it can be a bit frustrating when it comes to syncing as sometimes instead of just transferring the new songs, it'll just start syncing the whole library as if nothing is on the phone.
Any suggestions for a good desktop-based music manager or alternatively, any other solutions to best manage the files onto my phone?

I may have misunderstood your question, but YouTube Music has an Android app you can use to remotely have all of your songs, playlists, etc... And on your pc if you have chrome, you can download the YouTube Music chrome app.
And if you want an alternative to YT Music go for Spotify, they have a PC and Android software.
Again, I think I totally missed your point so please clarify (or tell me I didn't missed the point lol)
Have a good one
