I always noticed this but never paid any attention as to why when selecting a wallpaper from the sd card the crop is soo timy but i realized the wallpapers dont scroll with this new rosie which is why the crop is not as wide as the original evo. I wonder why this was omitted?

i miss scrolling sometimes
Its omitted because of the carousel effect. Sense can't scroll the wall paper when you flick the home screen into carousel so they just made it static.

Just thought of that after i posted lol. Im not really cookoo for the carousel effect. Id rather have scrolling wallpapers. Oh well just cosmetic.

I don't understand the reason for the "carousel effect". It just spins around and comes back to the same panel.

Its retarded and i personally hate it. Its just to look flashy and help sell the phone, i hope there is an option to disable it in the future
Anyone know the perfect size for a wallpaper where it won't get cropped. I think all my wallpaper apps assume we have scrolling wallpaper so its 960x540 resolution is cropped as if it spread throughout 5 screens.
Whats the perfect resolution to fit the whole wallpaper one screen?

I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

Excuse me if I missed it but I'm interested in getting my wallpaper cropped, panoramic, and scrolling as they did in my Galaxy S2 and Fascinate. I know some people are using different launchers to accomplish this. Which one and are they able to crop the wallpaper properly prior to setting it? I also have one other request. I need my live wallpapers to scroll as well since I have one that slightly rotates in either direction when panning thru my home pages. Why is this feature not included on the Note? I sure do miss it. Thanks for your assistance.

I was wondering this myself. I was quite boggled when I went to make my wallpaper my favorite TRON: Legacy wallpaper with LauncherPro and it was completely wrong.
I can get them to scroll when using ADW and Go launchers but it doesn't change the fact that we have to crop them in a portrait shape instead of a landscape shape like we want. Also, my live wallpaper will not rotate no matter what launcher I use. I'm doubting ICS will give us this option either. Maybe a custom ROM is our only hope Great, back to the custom ROM world of bugs...
Autosize DbD wallpaper set is the app you need to pick up to crop or fit a wallpaper correctly without having it enlarged.
Scrolling wallpaper works for me on the launcher called ashell
Both these apps are free and lightweight

Do you think this will allow live wallpapers to scroll? I have several that move when moving from page to page when used in my galaxy 2 or fascinate
If you use the skyrocket wallpaperpicker.apk (will try and post it up later)
it allows landscape selection.

Picspeed is a nice app for sizing your wallpapers the way YOU want them, haven't checked their wallpapers though. Also, checking "scrollable" in the app doesn't make the wallpaper scrollable in TW, unfortunately.
This is apple's fault. Apparently they own the patent to scrollable wallpapers in a home screen

I'm fairly certain that this is misinformation. Nothing I can find indicates an Apple patent on this feature (and keep in mind that Apple themselves do not offer the feature), and Apple don't seem to be attacking the other Android devices that have offered this as part of the base operating system since day one. If anything, this makes TouchWiz behavor more like iOS.
(Apple did patent scrolling in the next picture in the gallery application and, the key part, snapping back to the current picture if the drag motion wasn't far enough. TouchWiz does exhibit this snap-back behavior on the home screen, but patents are very specific and using the same image and implementing it in an entirely different context means that Android should be fine here.)
I think it is more like Samsung took the feature out because their visual effect is now that you are scrolling a box of icons in the middle of the screen, not the entire screen. It would like kind of funny for the box to rotate and the background to rotate with it while leaving the other foreground elements in place.
Yeah I have been using zedge for a long time now. The only problem when using wallpaper apps and setting it within the application is that it only changes the launcher wally and the lock screen

This effect was enforced with an update to gingerbread on Sprint Galaxy SII's a while back after it was working the same way with the same launcher therefore I can say with certainty it was not a decision for design. It was with that same update that the browser overscroll effect where the page would move away to reveal a dark background was removed. I'm sure it was to appease a court ruling so that the product could continue to be sold.
I believe this is the lawsuit that targeted Samsung in terms of scrolling effect

Use QuickPic its in market and free.
Download Flikie Wallpapers HD. This lets you set wallpapers without cropping.
Just go to gallery or wherever your picture is located, press menu and press set as wallpaper using Flikie HD.
No resizing needed.
use the gallery2.apk from cm9, and when you set the wallpaper, use the gallery crop from the cm9 gallery (you can have both the touchwiz gallery and cm9 gallery on the phone at the same time) to set your background, which will do the background scrolling.
Best part about the Note 2 is the awesome screen! However, one of my biggest issues is lack of high resolution content ! Seems like 95% of wallpapers, and clock widgets are low resolution and it drives me nuts. Any tips on where to get higher resolution widgets or wallpapers? Zedge is terrible, PicSpeed is O.K. but not great. Any others?
Have you tried HD Widgets from the Play Store? Or Beautiful Widgets?

For wallpapers, someone in the "screenshots of your note II" shared this:
www.ilikewallpaper.net/iPhone-5/Wallpapers/
Much easier than finding images that are at least 1280 in height and cropping, which I was doing before.
Beautiful Widgets is pretty terrible also. Like 95% of the skins are very low res.
I havent tried the wallpapers, but do those any work if you choose not to have your wallpaper scroll as you scroll homescreens? I thought the android wallpapers needed to be wider than they are tall for the best scrolling effect.

What do you mean scrolling wallpaper? Mine does not have that feature, I thought they got rid of the scrolling wallpapers. I really want that feature back I hate having the static wallpaper its boring. The wallpaper selector gives you a cropping outline which shows 3 rectangles, with the left and right sides as if it still does the wallpaper scrolling but it doesn't.

Yes I use multi picture live wallpaper so my wallpapers need to be 720 width and 1280 height. The ones in that site work great.

My bad - it looks like you are right (at least with regard to the Touchwiz launcher). I had to switch temporarily to TW launcher to check this.
I am running Nova Launcher - which does allow for scrolling wallpapers.
I came from the OG Droid, to the Galaxy Nexus, and then to the GN2. This is my first non "google experience" phone. Even my Nexus 7 tablet has scrolling wallpapers with the default launcher - but that tablet is running Paranoid Android. Not sure what the stock Jellybean launcher behavior is...
Hi all,
Is this new to Samsung? I had the Note 4 previously but it didn't have this issue where by when you set the wallpaper for both the lock screen and homescreen, the crop on the lock screen is exactly the dimension you have set but on the homescreen it is zoomed in.

This is because the S6 detects small up and down motions when using the phone and moves the home screen wallpaper up and down to make it look like your view is changing. Fun little gimmick. Not sure what its effect is on battery life, but I've found no way to turn it off. But it does mean it has to crop the home wallpaper.

I've seen on here that some people's accelerators have malfunctioned. Does your screen rotate properly when it's supposed to? If not, it may be an accelerator issue.

Hmm that's weird, I tested my phone apps and the accelerators are fine. Apps switched orientation as they are supposed to and snappy, but I still don't see any tilting of the wallpaper according to how I tilt the phone.
Not that I want this feature tho XD

Interesting. I wonder if it's carrier-specific. I have Verizon, not sure if other carriers disabled this feature.
Glad your accelerometers work though! :good:
is there a solution to add wallpapers to the S6 without having them zoomed in??? this is really annoying!
I asked this once too, nobody even glanced on my post or tried to help, so I found the solution by myself, just get the app dodol wallpaper maker and try setting a wallpaper using that app, it doesnt crop or zoom anything, the way u set it is they way it will be set on the homescreen, believe me, I notice every little thing on my wallpapers, so naturally, I immediately saw that crop issue, I think it was after the latest big update. Anyway, just try the app.

Hmm thanks for the tip. But I am not satisfied with this. The app just sets an image as live wallpaper. So there is no zoom, but having a service in background that uses 80 MB ram just for a wallpaper is not nice...
But it seems there is no other solution.
You dont need the app to keep the wallpaper, the app itself creates a wallpaper in your Gallery, I think it is in an album under the name Crop, then u just set that wallpaper the normal way, it will not have a zoom, I've tried and it works, you only need that app for the wallpaper crop, it's good that the app saves the wallpapers so that you don't have to use it, try it and tell me if it works.

I think we are talking about two different things. My wallpapers are already cropped to the resolution of the display. But when I set them as wallpaper, they are a little zoomed in. If I take the image from the "crop" dodol folder, and set as wallpaper, it will also have a little zoom...
When I set the same image to lock screen and home screen and unlock my phone, I always see the the home screen image is a little bigger - you dont have this problem???
btw, I am using nova launcher.

I believe it's the same problem, I would put a wallpaper using TouchWiz, and a high quality image (after being cropped and looking good on the preview window) would become pixelated thus I imagine it was being zoomed in, otherwise without zoom I wouldn't be seeing those dots in the middle of my wallpaper, after using dodol to crop the picture and set that one again using TouchWiz there was no deterioration in my wallpaper. I don't think that the picture was the problem, every other picture had the same thing, It's like I lost quality in my pictures, and I intentionally get high quality images to have everything look crisp. I looked over at the webpage you posted, they are talking about the Parallax effect, but for me it made no difference if it was on or off. Maybe not all phones have the same fix, or as you said we may not have the same problem after all, one thing is for sure, Samsung while fixing one thing sometimes breaks another.
