Anyone know how to remove the boot animation using root explorer? Thx
On the stock/rooted Thunderbolt the boot animation can be found here:
/system/customize/resource/VZW_bootanimation.zip
On most custom roms it can be found here:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
I have not tried to remove it to see what the consequences are though.
Don't forgot got to R/O which allows you change the boot animation. Then hit R/W when your done on the top right corner.

I've got my Optimus T flashed with the void ROM now and I'm loving it. I've been playing around now with the boot animation and I notice that now there is an animated version of the LG logo that comes after the static logo and before the bootanimation.zip. I've got the bootanimation.zip figured out, but I'd prefer to go straight from the static LG logo to the beautifully simple "void."
Does anyone know where this animated logo is located and how it can be changed or removed? Thanks in advance.
Answering my own question.
The images are in /bootimages named opening_0[1-8].rle. These are rle encoded raw RGB files. See to565.c in the android git tree for some details on that RLE format.
Trying now to see if getting rid of those files gets rid of the boot animation...
Looks like these files are written anew every time from the boot.img. I have found how to unpack the boot image from /dev/mtd/mtd0, but I'm working right now on how to make a new one...
the boot images are in ramdisk you need to unpack boot.img modify ramdisk and repack boot.img
the command to unpack on linux is "./unpack-bootimg.pl boot.img" you need perl libraries installed
Yep, I can unpack the boot image and change the images but once I repack it, how can I flash it to the appropriate place?
take commands what you need from an update-script of a custom rom and flash it trough recovery
Any updates on this? I would also like to know an easy way to remove this animation.

This sounds like the easy answer. Anyone with more knowledge willing to do this for me? I guess we're just talking about a zip to flash to remove boot/shutdown animations and nothing else.
[BOOT ANIMATION][BLACK OPS 2][REDMI NOTE 3 ( all variants) ]
ROOT IS REQUIRED
How to change boot animation
1. download the zip from the link and place it in sdcard.
2.Now install root browser from this link- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en
3.Now in root browser go to home and go to system/media/bootanimation.zip , This is your present boot animation.(make a backup of this anywhere else.)Now replace the bootanimation.zip with the one I have uploaded .
4. Now long press on the same boot animation.zip and select permissions and check all options except the ones which are under special permissions. Check uploaded images.
5. Now try rebooting. You must get your new bootanimation. If not you are always free to ask me.
YOU HAVE A NEW BOOT ANIMATION NOW!!!!!!
NOTE: Incase you want your old boot animation just replace the bootanimation.zip with your back up.:good:

The size of the boot animation is more because of the resolution of the device.
Give me feedbacks
how to increase boot animation time it will stuck in half and the phone starts
Nice Boot animation!
If you happen to be using Android N theme which has it's own boot animation. (or any other theme that has it).
You will need to change to the default animation to see this one.
Click Themes
Account Icon (top left)
Customize Theme
Boot Animation
Default
Apply

I don't know how to increase the time.
But for me on the latest xiaomi.eu 6.9.9 (6.0.1), the boot animation time is now to long.

The steps as below.
1. Download the boot animation for MIUI website (search from Google is much more faster) and download the bootanimation.zip file.
2. Open Root Browser (or your file manager) app and once inside, locate your original boot animation file (bootanimation.zip) in /system/media.
3. Long-press the file, choose Rename and name it to bootanimation.zip1.
4. Next, browse to the custom boot animation that you want to switch to, copy the zip file to /system/media. Long-press, choose Permission.
5. Tick the boxes as shown in the screenshot below, and press OK. After that, rename the file to bootanimation.zip, if the zip file name is different.
Note: You have to make sure that the file name is correct (bootanimation.zip) for the system to recognize your boot animation, and boot properly.
6. Now you should be able to see two zip files, one, bootanimation.zip (new file) and the other is bootanimation.zip1 (original).
Note: If you ever want to switch back to your original boot animation, delete the current bootanimation.zip and rename the original file back to bootanimation.zip (from bootanimation.zip1).
7. Reboot the device and you will be able to see your new custom boot animation!

I tried 3 ROMs without getting any boot animation, though it works when I do a soft boot. Mobile boots directly to lock-screen after LeEco splash screen. Tried to flash new splash screen but it didnt work either, now I have a linux tux splash screen and directly boots into lock screen.
What I tried so far :
1. Flash diff boot animations using twrp
2. Root explorer to copy boot animation in system/data
Any idea? My device is Indian one.
make sure the bootanimation.zip is in the system/media folder and it's permissions are set to rw-r-r- (use a root file manager)
Sure I did it and permission is fine, also what about splash?
Please
Here are some basic boot animation but Im sure you can find other that are much more modern. Of course, this involves a root file manager and setting permissions as Im sure you already know.

I am on n910p and can confirm the Reactor_BootAni (revision).zip works. To anyone else reading, this is not a zip. that can be flashed in recover. Instructions are provided in the post.
