Hi, I am new to this android world and I got a g5 with stock 2.1 eclair. I now want to root this phone and use customize roms using rom manager but it does not show galaxy 5 as a supported handset and so I dont get which is the best stable rom for g5. I actually want to get cyanogenmod7 but dont know which version is stable. Please help me getting the best rom for g5 and how to get it easily by upgrading my g5 to 2.2 froyo or if possible 2.3 gingerbread.
Please help people..

I'm sorry but asking for the best rom/kernel is not permitted. Please try some roms and find the one working best for you

What roms are the latest 1 jellybenn and 1 katkit ?
And you you have a preference ?
App2SD should work on most roms, I guess nearly on all roms
Check the development forum, there are already many jellybean (Android 4.1.2/4.2.2/4.3) and some kitkat (Android 4.4) roms you could try

Hello,
My friend is using an old Glaxy S2 because his other phone is broken. What stable good custom rom would you suggest? He saids that the phone has the original rom right now, but apparently he can't install almost any apps because they're not compatible with the outdated version of android..
Also, what are the requirements for installing a custom rom nowadays? I've rooted and instaled multiple custom roms on my old android phone like 4 or 5 years ago and I haven't done anything since then because I'm using an Iphone right now. I'd assume that you still have to first install a custom recovery, then root the phone and then install the rom?
Cyanogen Mod 12.1 is the one you want to use. Less laggy and fair app support. In case if you want to expand the storage with SD card, I suggest you to use LineageOS 13 or Cyanogen alternative, Nougat will chug it up like crazy, believe me.
I do not recommend custom ROMs.
