[Q] TELUS FASCINATE: Home button and i9000 kernels - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I'm a big noob so please bear with me...
I'm running Galnet MIUI Twoeey II and have realized that the amazing GlitchV11 kernel doesn't support external SD cards with GB bootloaders. I'm running Vibrant GB bootloaders cuz I couldn't find any for the Fascinate.
I installed NEO_09 redux and my phone now sees the SD card, but the volume buttons are inverted as is the headphone jack (when headphones are unplugged, the device indicates that they are plugged and vice versa)
The whole reason why I went with the Glitch kernel is because it's FAST and my home button works with it, whereas the stock MIUI kernel is i9000 where the home button is broke.
Anyway to fix the home button what an i9000 kernel? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

2.2 Build with CM7 type Volume Button Music Controls

Does anyone know if one of these exists? Specifically, I am looking for a build/kernel that will allow me to control music either through headset buttons (via PowerAmp) or when the screen is off through the side volume buttons. All I need to replace my iPod!
Dunno, but that functionality is so good it ought to be in stock Android. My OptT is still stock and that's what I miss the most on my old CM-powered G1.
you should flash mik_os CM7 build for Optimus T. I have it on mine and it allows you to do this and works well. Still a few kinks they are working out, but nothing terrible.

[T959-D](telus fascinate) How to have a CM7 Rom working with all buttons

So to do you can just get I9000 or Vibrant CM7 Rom with CM7 Vibrant Kernel

Hope Glitch CM7 kernel will be ported to Vibrant Kernel on I9000 it's simply awesome !!!

hope this help you
hey, so you are using the i9000 nightlies? i was looking at switching over now that it seems some of the battery drain issues have been dealt with.
Yes i'm using I9000 nightlies with Vibrant CM7 kernel to have all buttons full working on it
You will need to remap home/back vol up/down
only one thing found there recovry buttons still reverse for vol up/down
hope this help
do you mind if i ask why the i9000 rom over the vibrant one?
Lol no i don"t really now
I always use I9000 roms (darky"s) ones
I try to vibrant Bionix and experiance Bootloader issue then forgot vibrant roms since
After i try CM7 Kern+Rom for I9000 since trying to fix buttons
So one day i wake up a Jig in my hand and said don't care about it need to try it
so i try a vibrant kernel for cm7 and it work
(to answer you much better i'm trying vibrant rom + kernel this morning
that'S all
have fun
Edit: full Vibrant (rom+kernel) works fine
Only one problem found
Sound not working correctly
Plug headset give speaker sound remove headset act like it was connected

I noticed exact same thing... I will try the new 06 nightly for i9000 and see how it works.
With i9000 souns works fine
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
hmm not with r12 vibrant kernel... just tried it..
edit: i tried the r12 i9000 kernel and it works fine. there is something about the vibrant one I think. Can you confirm this?
Yeah
I9000 kernel miss home / search button sound is ok
Vibrant Kernel Home / search buttons ok sound like inversed with headset on speaker sound on - remove headset sound playing like it was normal with headset
Maybe a configuration ? ... looking on it
Last vibrant rom nightly build + glitch kenel for vibrant
I am wondering if there is a way we could reprogram the buttons in the i9000 because both home and search light up the buttons so there is something happening... just not what we want to.
edit: just tried vibrant MIUI latest version and it does the same thing with sound. so that kernel breaks sound too. I dont know if you have this problem too but my camera works, but it will not review or show the picture on the screen before I take the picture... the screen is just black. I may have to go back to the older releases... sacrifice battery life for functionality until the next release of kernel and cm7... if its still broken after that then I guess we will have some work to do.
edit2: just noticed there is a new cm7 today so I will try that and report back on my findings... trying vibrant first.
Not like you want
You can remap buttons but you will replace back by menu only
Search and home not include in I9000 kernel as same button
that's why we use Vibrant kernel cause it have same buttons and need remap them cause buttons function assign differently
Actually all buttons work fine
Under CMW up/down are still reverse
Under CM7 HEadset jack act reverse as normal (here i'm searching a solution )
so tried the vibrant 0509 update and it broke phone( constantly force closes and no service) but I am kind of distracted so I may have screwed things up...
edit: yes that was my bad... it works fine as advertised.. but the sound issue is persistant with the 0509 vibrant version of cm7 using stock, r10 and r12 versions of bilboa1's kernel
asked bilboa1 on the kernel thread and here was his reply:
I'm not sure what the 959d is, but yes, if its a different phone it might happen.
with your description its possible to have both buttons and headphone working, but the issue is that your phone is then not supported by CM7 currently.
it would be ok if I was able to support it and push it upstream, but I am not as I don't have this phone (also, ill give away the sgs soon)
if you are a dev or find a dev with the same phone, tell him to fix it and contact CM7 for maintenance - i'm not guaranteeing they will agree but its likely
the fix would be to take the vibrant source, add a new ifdef 959D (or whatever) and add it to all the VIBRANT occurences like
#ifdef VIBRANT | 959D or the like
except for the headphone handling where it should use the GALAXYS ifdef

so all we need to do is find out how to do this or find a dev who will help us with this.
imagine that... cm7 that worked for our phone out of the box...
I have tried OTB-Reloaded Kernel
Buttons fix by default
audio jack still reversed
CMW volume buttons still reversed
still searching
If a dev want someone to try a kernel for T959-D on CM7 in order to fix jack issue let me know
nop
thanks for info !
do you have the link ?
i go search for it
nop
Yeap see that need wait until update
nop
surprised? telus doesnt even care about us lol..

[Q] Galaxy S 3 Refusing to use CM10 volume rocker music control

I'm having issues where my i9300 is not navigating through music tracks on CM10 based ROMs.
On stock, pressing and holding the volume key will make the volume go up or down until either limit is met. Now, on CM10 based ROMs, the volume will only increase or decrease by one point but the music tracks do not advance.
I have used stock ELLA ROM with a flashable mod, CM10, PACMan ROM and JellyBam.
JellyBam has the unfortunate effect of crashing PowerAMP if I enable to AOKP lockscreen volume button music control, so I can't use that ROM (nor did I want to, I was just testing it).
I am using PowerAMP with the ICS lockscreen turned on.
This works flawlessly with my HD2 so I know exactly what I should be doing, it just seems this particular handset doesn't want to work.
Does anyone else have this issue or know of a proper guaranteed fix?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

[Q] Volume button music skip mod

Been a while since I've been with Android so I'm trying to get my feet wet again with rooting and modding. Currently have my S4 rooted but I can't for the life of me locate a mod to enable song changes by long pressing the volume button. Any ideas?
Anyone? Currently running Synergy ROM not sure if that matters.

Earphone volume buttons issue

Hello everyone
I'm using Redmi Note 4 SD with ArrowOS Pie
When I install custom kernels, I realize that with some kernels which have OC (eXtreme, Ethereal), the volume buttons on my earphone stop working (the play/pause button still works). With other normal kernels like Englezos, Franco,.... or even the stock kernel that comes with the ROM itself, all of the buttons work fine.
So if anyone can find a fix to this, I'd be very appreciated
