Do I need to write this in huge black letters?
xRECOVERY CANNOT FLASH KERNELS AND BASEBANDS.
I am sorry but you are out of luck here,
you need to use FlashTool or SEUS or PC Companion to update your phone
and this thread should be closed.
Good luck!

Sad I thought recovery could flash kernels as we used to install custom kernels on 2.2 roms with the help of recovery...

I just installed a kernel using xrecovery. It just depends on how the kernel has been provided to you.
Baseband, as far as I know, is flashtool only!

Yes, flashing via SEUS will reset your phone to SE stock rom and xrecovery will be gone.
and i also beleive SEUS will fix the white SE logo for custom roms i know it will for a removed framework-res.apk (one bad experience with that made it happen)

[Q] Cyanogen Mod 7 custom kernel

So, i dont have 10 posts so i cant post it to normal thread , so i have a question , how to flash custom kernel with that ROM, what should go first, and what BB to use , in normal thread is about 580 pages, a was looking for it, but i couldnt find it, so if someone know how to , Ill be really glad when he shares it with me .
Thank you , and sorry if there is a thread.
First get the rom on your SD card, flash baseband.52 and install the rom normally with recovery, nothing special is requires for flashing the kernal it is done automaticly. If you need help on how to flash use my guide from my sig

So that kernel is already inside and i need just to flash it using baseband .52 ?
You flash the baseband with the flashtool and the rom with recovery. The kernal is included yes. Read through my guide, it explains all about how to flash roms and basebands.

I really don't have a clue if that would work or not cos J's kernal is for 2.3 and wolfbreaks rom is 2.2. You could always just try it out to see if it works just make sure you back up up wit recovery first and if worst comes to worst flash with the flash tool and redo your set up.

It is always suggested to take a backup of stock rom before installing any custom rom..have you taken any backups?
I did not make a backup when I flashed custom roms because I was a complete noob and I just flash a custom rom. Btw thanks for your reply.

Download any rom for ur device which completely works with stock kernel....
Then 1st do necesary wipes
Install custom rom
Flash stoock kernel...
Boot. Properly
And then try with pc companion or SEUS
But if I'm using a custom kernel and if I flash a rom that is compatible with stock kernel wont recovery will say incompatible kernel found? I've tried that before.

Dude I mean a rom which is compatible wit both stock kernel and custom kernel

u have already installed naa kernel, meaning that you have unlocked bootloader. this article said that you can update through SEUS if you have unlocked the bootloader. i'm not experienced with x10mp bootloader issue before this but my gtab7 experienced bootloader problem after unlocked, flash the stock bootloader and solved the problem.
but you said that you have flash the stock kernel and still cant install through seus. why dont you try to reinstall seus, mybe something wrong with it. and btw,did you manage to flash stock kernel successfully?

It's an upgrade to your current kernel, it should just flash fine and your rom should keep working.

Sure dude? Can't we upgrade replacing the ftf somewhere with shell and modifying some init config file, as we do on linux?
If not, i wonder why the MiniCM notification has the download option.

MiniCM is the ROM, not the kernel, If you have an official CM-ROM on your phone you can get OTA updates for that, but that doesn't include the kernel of your phone.
The main reason you can't update kernels without a computer is because your phone has to be in flash-mode in order to reach the parts where the kernel and loader are stored, and if your phone is in flashmode, you can't access it manually to edit anything.

Thanks. Didnt know the flashmode thing.
By the way, i know minicm is the rom, but the minicm notification has both rom and kernel (nAa kernel) update notication. It is a cm based rom.

Yes, i know minicm is cm-based, but it's an 'unofficial' port, so i'm not sure if you actually get Over-The-Air updates (where the relevant parts of the ROM are updated on the fly), or just notifications that updates are available and that you can download them from somewhere, or if you even get notifications, i haven't used it long enough to find out
I dowloaded the kernel with the notification to sd... But need flashtool anyway. Maybe it is for quick flash because don't have to visit xda thread.
Thanks for answers
that does make it a bit easier i suppose anyway, you're welcome
It is actually possible to flash kernels without a PC. It just hasn't been coded into our CWM and the correct way hasn't yet been found/added for the Mini/MiniPro. It is possible but you'd need a JTAG as you'd probably kill the phone quite a few times!
