The Evo is listed here for presale at $475.99 which I find shockingly cheap especially when one considers that the sensation which seems technologically inferior, by far, is listed for over $270.00 more.

Hmmmm do the releases of either of these phones make any of you want to jump ship LESS? I know I personally am planning to switch to sprint to escape the ATT and Tmobile Merger. BUT I might be persuaded to stay if I can get the Evo 3d for this cheap and stay on Tmobile, and my wireless plan gets grandfathered in. Hmmmm....
its a great price for a great phone
I'm pretty happy with my Inc2 and Verizon for the moment, but I'm such a sucker for 3D that I'm so tempted...
I think it's fake... And if you look at the picture, it's Sprint EVO 3D.

its the classic bait and switch program. There are websites all over like this usually selling photo gear phones and computers. there are often more than one site running off one phone number so when you call they dont say the comoany name. although it is a legit company, they sell "grey market" and refurbished items and once they get your order for the item they promptly call and a very fast talking sketchey sales assoc informs you that the item you purchased is the "Chinese model" and not in english with no warrenty, BUT for $299 more I can sell you the US version with a 4 year warrenty worth $200 (that they wont honor later) and ill even throw in a carry case and 2 extra batteries (worth 2 cents) and you think to yourself, aw they already have my info and its still below retail (or is it) so you say...why not. after you realize you payed $75 over retail (that salespersons commission) . that wont work on most of us quick thinking people, but throw in a old lady buying her son that new gadget and we have a mess.
sorry for the rant.
they almost always have a US phone number and
I always stick with the reputable companies. a quick google of "cell hut scam" produces story after story of scammidge.
The list of GSM carriers overseas was released and not one is compatible in the states. You really think Sprint would allow that? FAKE!
Well Idk I'm wondering the same thing, handtec is a pretty reliable website and they also have the gsm version of the evo 3D, they haven't listed a price yet but if you look at the frequencies it seems like they would play well with Tmobile ones. I really want this phone but I don't want to switch carriers specially with how slow sprint's network is in my area!
here's the link http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/4800/htc-evo-3d--sim-free-unlocked-black-
While I acknowledge that this could be too good to be true. We do know that there is a GSM version of the EVO 3d. I find it feasible that a company could know that it will acquire the EVO 3d in bulk and have an idea of how it will be priced and not necessarily have a picture of the finalized product. That said I haven't gone and forked over my money for the 'pre-order." I can't decide between trying to get a GSM EVO 3d/switching to Sprint/ picking up an HTC sensation.
I don't want to be an ATT customer so Sprint might be the only viable option for me. Sad state of affairs.
I have called two Radio Shacks about this and not surprisingly they were clueless on the details. From the Radio Shack site:
Trade-in offer good 6/24 - 7/31/2011. $75 offer valid on select smartphones only. To be eligible, the phone must power on, cannot be PIN locked and must be in fully functional, working condition without any broken components, including, but not limited to, cracked display. In addition, the cell phone housing or casing cannot be cracked or broken, and neither the display nor the housing can exhibit any signs of liquid damage: Limit 1 per customer.

My Hero that has been beat to **** actually meets that criteria and I'd take $75 for it in a heartbeat. So...which phones are the "select smartphones" they reference? Is the Hero one of them?
When I called RadioShack, the guy I spoke with said the store has a list of phones 'guaranteed' to get $75 and that it was 'quite a few'. Unfortunately for me, an old HTC Touch Pro2 was not on that list .
I've been wondering the same thing because I would trade it no doubt for $75
if the list has been published, it'd be helpful! I have a htc snap, touch pro, centro, htc vogue that i'd love to get rid of for $75... total
Actually have a Question for you guys, if I take a Samsung Epic today will they traded in for a Gift Card?
The trade in right know is 140 for the Epic 4G... What do you think?
BTW.. The Epic is not in my name, it was a gift but it cannot be activated because the person has not pay the last bill, and the phone shows active.

Radio shack told me that my cdma hero would only get $52 Max from their buyback program. However, the guy seemed to be clueless as it took him 30 minutes to complete 2 Evo 3d preorders.
Can someone please post the $75 list if you have it?
Also, does it mention anything about the trade ins being stock/rooted?
EDIT. Signing up for RS email gets you a $10 off coupon. Maybe/maybe not work for Evo 3d as it says "May not be valid on certain other discounts." Whatever that means... worth a shot, I guess.
2.3.4 on a Hero? Yup
I just checked out my local RadioShack on 3rd Avenue in New York City and they had the list of cell phones that qualified for the $75 credit. Unfortunately the HTC Hero was not listed

Sprint has their own buyback program that you can use as a credit toward you account. They are currently offering $150 for the original EVO! I'm using that and my $45 "stay with us" credit they just gave me on top of my upgrade...which will land me the 3D for $5! Check Sprint's buyback program and see how much they will give you for your phones: https://secure2.sprintbuyback.com/consumer/
They also accept phones from other carriers...

Better than nothing...and probably better than what anybody would give you for that phone! Hahaha! I paid $450 for the EVO on launch day because I bought the Hero on it's launch day with my upgrade and wasn't eligible for an upgrade in June when the EVO launched...I couldn't stand one more moment with the Hero! Sprint gave me $80 for it a year ago...win-win if you ask me!

I went to the Sprint store today and asked about the buyback program and my Evo 4G. She just asked for my phone number and started typing.. then asked if i pre-ordered the Evo 3D.. i said yes. She kept typing then told me to just come in 2morrow when i pick up the Evo 3D and tell them i want to recycle my phone and i will get $150. She didnt even look at my beat up (but working) Evo 4G.
Im not sure if she put a note on my account or what but she sounded so certain that i bring it in and get my $150 credit. Anyone know for sure?
I hope i get her when i get my Evo 3D tomorrow.. im doubtfull it will be that easy and that they are giving $150 for any working Evo... if so.. winning!
Sprint will give 150 for the EVO and 115 for the EVO Shift...I know-I work for Sprint. They always offer this as well for those that did not know. Also, you can trade up to three phones to really drive that out of pocket cost down.

I am pretty sure if your EVO is not majorly damaged, i.e broken glass, and it turns on, you will get $150 dollars credit on your account for trading it in. EVO 3D for $50 with full upgrade credit.
I guess ill find out tomorrow hehe Thanks for the help.
I wasn't gonna do that...I was gonna sell my evo 4g and accessories on craigslist but I have been reconsidering it....sell the evo to sprint for the 150 and the accessories for 50.
I have an otterbox commuter, HDMI cable, spare batteries, and a stand alone battery charger.
Think all of that is worth 50 bux?
Do they care about sending in the battery? I have two Evos (one upgraded to a 3D) and it would be great to keep the battery as a spare.

Sprint will buy back the phone.
I took my rooted evo to my local sprint store yestetday and got $150 added to my account on the spot. With my $70 loyalty credit I got my 3d for only a couple of bucks.
They let me keep my sd card and charger.
Easier for me to do instead of selling it.

Sprint will buy back the phones but not the accessories. If you turn in an EVO and a hero the 3d costs you ten bucks. If you want to try and get fifty for a hero on Craigslist you will be waiting a while.

Where I am CL is saturated with them. Over 18 were posted for sale today alone.
I know you leave some money on the table, but the Sprint deal isn't so bad, and with alot less headache and waiting. I was going to go this root but I'm not as excited about the 3D as much anymore so I'm going to keep my Evo.
I dont think you can get more than $200 on craigslist for the Evo 4G and on top of that the internet is probably flooded with people trying to sell their old Evos.. so lots of competition. A few weeks ago people were selling them on ebay/CL for $200+ easily... but now that will just get harder and harder.
I sure hope its easy for me to get my $150.. my phone is beat up and rooted.. but as i said it works and the woman made it seem like id surely/easily get the full $150 credited to my account tomorrow.
I would of traded it on the spot if she asked offered.. but she told me to do it when i pick up my 3D. I hope the quote doesnt go down tomorrow... it shouldnt since every other retailer is offering $150 for the Evo 4g.
fyi..
google sprint buy back.. it will take you to the official buy back program. sell your phone for 150 + any other phone you have. I just did. works just fine.
sold my evo and my old iphone 3g.. i kept my sd card .. just ship the phone itself.

You can either mail it in, or go to the store and trade it in for instant credit.

I'm sure many of you have done this to subsidize the cost of our snazzy new beast.
I have the original box (that awful, terrible egg carton thing) and owner's manual. The device itself is a refurb I got from insurance, since my original Evo4G was stolen.
My biggest question is: since it is rooted, is it best to offer it that way? I guess my question is whether there's any market value to it being already rooted and thus getting more from an eBay auction (unless theres a better alternative to eBay that anyone knows). Or maybe advertise the option of: I can send it to you rooted or if you don't want it that way, I can unroot it for you.
If someone wants it rooted, basically I just need to do a full wipe and flash a rooted stock ROM. If they want it unrooted, I believe I need to unroot first, flash a stock ROM, then turn S-ON (might have that in the wrong order).
I hope this is an appropriate thread for this forum (instead of the Evo4G one) as it would be helpful to other people looking for a way to obtain the Evo3D.
My suggestion to you is Craigslist. Sold my hero a month ago for 100 bucks

I sold mine on Ebay for 270 each
Hello,
I sold my 4G for 300 Dollars on Craigslist. I did happen to get a Replacement the week before I listed it. While my original 4G was Rooted, I held off Rooting this one, but did not do the GB Update so that the Buyer would have the option of Rooting or not doing so.
My Upgrade was not supposed to be until September, but I pleaded with Retention and they reset my eligibility. This happened the day after my Refurbished 4G arrived.
I threw in 2 Otterbox Defender Cases, an HTC HDMI Dock, and pointed out the 4G was a 004 Version and was only a week old. I actually received multiple offers and ended up selling to a guy who lives on the same Barrier Island that I do.
I would think it would be best if you could get it back to S-ON and not disclose that it has been Rooted unless someone asks. You could even offer to Root and customize the 4G for the prospective Buyer. It really helped for me as the guy who purchased mine wanted me to Root it, but when he went to Sprint to Activate it he walked out with 2 3VO's instead. I am now trying to help him sell the 4G. I have gotten a few offers around 250, but he wants 300 and I have not exactly killed myself trying to sell it.
Also, I think that sometimes the 4G's Sprint sends out as Recertified are actually new Phones. The one I got sure seemed that way and again was 004.
It helped greatly I sold mine before the 3D's Release. The marketplace has changed since then. There is another Website that offers more than 150 if the 4G is in pristine condition as well. The name eludes me.
Cheers,
JJ

I sold my 4G on craigslist for $200 about 90 minutes after I had it posted.
Well, it's VERY EASY.
Sprint will pay $150.00 for your evo 4G in account or store credit. You can either take your EVO 4G to a sprint store, or do it online and ship it to them:
http://www.sprintbuyback.com/
Just did it today at the store and paid only $49.99 for my new 3D!
If it is in good enough shape, I would sell it on eBay... considering I sold a refurbished one with a deadspot on the screen for $200 cash (Fully informed description I might add) You could likely get $250-300 for one in real good condition.
Good luck!!!
Craigslist is probably your best bet if you feel safe using it. Followed by ebay... You could also sell it on these forums which is the choice I took mostly because I wanted my phone to go to someone in the community.

RadioShack gave me $167 on trade for the 3VO. I also traded in my Hero for $50 so had a store credit. I had the boxes and the chargers for both.
I posted my 4G on swappa.com for $250 and it was sold within 2 days. The cool thing is that doesn't matter if you're rooted, people there seem to prefer it. Also if someone is interested, they have the option to buy your phone right away via paypal.

From what I hear, yes. If I remember right, its specifically for selling/trading android phones.
Sold mine for 230 on craigslist. Might have gotten more on ebay, but it'd barely be with it after dealing with the fees and the scammers.
Sold my Verizon iPhone on craigs. Had 10 offers by morning. Sprint would have bought for $220. So there's always a fallback if you want quick cash. Assume EVO 4g should have similar results.

is anyone else keeping their LTE just for collectors sake?
I plan on getting the One (T-Mo) and I'm thinking of keeping my EVO. T-Mo trade in value was only $41. My daughter has a SGE4T and that was worth $50. I still like the EVO, but sprint's coverage in my area is terrible.

Remember a couple things about ebay which I had to learn the hard way. First is they take 10% off the total cost plus what ever fees they charge to post the ad. Second is they make you verify your account *. Third always go with the paypal verified account**.
You'll probably sell your item if mint with good esn black 150 white 200 or more. But you may get some asshole trying to keep the cost of these up high to bid on your item for 200 dollars but then won't pay you. Happened to me and my girlfriend several times (remember it doesn't require a bank account to bid).
* When I sold one of my evo 4g ltes in a bid it got to 225 in a couple days this was when they were going for 250 minimum. Well I' not really checking on it because it's already reached a good selling price. So I go to check it a couple days later and that and another evo I got up there have been frozen. I'm like what the f#ck. I look at my email or inbox (can't remember ) I have a message to call them so I do and it turns out that sometime during the process they stopped it until I called them and entered a code. This was a week after the first evo went up.
** I had a ebay buyer change his address to something different from what was on his paypal account and then changed the ebay address back to the original and said he never received the package. Paypal sided with him. I still owe them 85 dollars.
No sure how well this copy paste is but here is the swappa pricing:
http://swappa.com/search?q=HTC+EVO+4G+LTE+(Sprint) Just to get a benchmark.
I'd say keep it as a backup phone but the value of the LTE is higher than past EVOs, it'd be smarter to sell it while the resale value is high.
