[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 Stuck in recovery - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI guys I need some help Please
I tried to flash my wife's Samsung Galaxy S2
and now it is stuck in recovery mode
it won't boot past recovery
I can navigate in recovery, if I chose any thing in recovery mode
I get a " HAT " clockwork symbol and it freezes there.
I have tried ODIN and it looks like it flashes a rom then reboots into clockwork recovery.
I am stuck, really stuck.
A week ago the wife smashed the other Sansung Galaxy S2 in the car door smashed the screen and lcd
So can some one help me out Please and Thanks
Winston

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but are you confusing the power and home buttons for "enter" in CWM?
I ask because I've done it myself
In CWM Recovery 4.0.0.2, home is "enter".
In other versions I've used (forget which, bundled with kernel), power is "enter".

Thank you
I really got to thank you
I was pushing the wrong buttom....

I'm new at this and I really thank you. Can i biy.you a beer? Let me know

No problem, no beer needed (well, not until after work anyway...)
See my sig? Assuming you won't help LUFC, just hit the "thanks" button (is there one on the xda app?)...
You're new, but you're flashing - braver than I was.... Can only advise you to read, read again and keep on reading - it's all here. The search button is your friend too.
For future reference, any similar problems probably belong either in the General or Q&A sections - you'll get more help there.

Last I checked, this is not a development thread. Thread moved and closed.

which button is ok in recovery mode?

I have the ATT galaxy s2 and I just finished the steps for the rooting with odin and I am rebooted into recovery mode and can't seem to figure out which button is used for ok.
the power key isn't working for the ok option
Wrong forum, please become more experienced or knowledgeable of the conduct of our forums before you post.
Use the home button to select, back for back.
Edit. Oh never mind, you have an ATT sgs 2, which i am unkowledgeable about. I apologize for the incorrect info there.
$1 gets you a reply
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I just needed some help.
I guess if anyone can help me with this please, I could use it.
Thanks
Edit:
My bad, I was going to suggest the power button but saw you already tried it.

[Q] my phone is stuck on boot! please help:(

First of all, Merry Christmas Everyone! I hope everyone got what they wanted and had a relaxing day!
Now, I was trying to flash or root my Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII GT-i9100 earlier today for the first time. Thought to myself how hard could this be? After flashing or rooting, when i try to go into recovery mode, the phone resets and goes back the phone title plus the triangle. I keep holding up + power button but like i said, it just reboots the boot screen. It will go into download mode but not recovery. Why? how can i fix this? i am a noob at this but i am willing to learn.
thanks

Find a stock firmware and try the Siyah kernel. Not sure if it works but it's worth a try.
Is the sprint model GT-I9100? Not SGH or something? Make sure you're flashing the right rom/kernel intended for your device.

Sprint's Galaxy SII model is NOT the GT-i9100. The GT-i9100 is a GSM phone, which doesn't even work on Sprint's CDMA network.
The model number for the Sprint Galaxy SII is SPH-D710, and it is also known as the Epic 4g Touch. (you can confirm this yourself by looking at the model number which is printed on the label underneath your battery) If you flashed something from THIS forum (which is for the GT-i9100), then you did something wrong, and that is also why it is displaying GT-i9100 upon boot.
Epic 4g Touch forum is located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281
EDIT to add: Also, there was ABSOLUTELY no reason to start two threads for the very same issue. (other thread here - still in the i9100 forums)

[Q] Galaxy S2 root problems

I just for the first time rooted a phone. I made the mistake of going to galaxys2root.com.......Big mistake I see now after the fact. Anyway, after rooting was completed I noticed that my ATT 1777 now says its a GT19100 with a yellow triangle...it wont turn on, and now I feel totally screwed. Can anyone please help me? I can get the phone to download mode...but now my computer is not recognizing my phone thru usb. What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Factory reset In recovery make sure usb is not plugged in.

First, don't give up and don't throw your $500 phone away.
Seeing the I9100 logo and splash screen with yellow triangle is expected behavior, caused by flashing a modified kernel, which is what you did to root.
As already suggested, the first thing to try is to enter recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset. You enter recovery by holding all three buttons, volume + & - and power down continuously. If this doesn't work, there's more wrong than just flashing the zedomax I777 modified kernel.
Don't hold your breath expecting zedomax to help. He has dozens of websites like gs2r, and is spread quite thin trying to make money from them. He doesn't appear to be at all focused on helping other people, just himself.

I have almost the same problem. I have ATT Samsung Galaxy SII with ICS4.03. Tried to root it. Everything was going as is written in "Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777 (AT&T): Root and ClockworkMod Recovery" by Ken East on Apr 20, 2012: I saw a PASS message in Odin3 so the process was successful? What I see on display now is Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 and yellow triangle with exclamation sign. I was seeing it for more than hour: I am a patient man.
What I tried after were
1. Turned phone off and then turned it on to reboot. Nothing new: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 and yellow triangle with exclamation sign. BTW I could not even switch the phone off by pushing the Power button.
2. Took off battery and inserted it back to reboot. Nothing new: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 and yellow triangle with exclamation sign.
3. Pushed those three buttons- volume up, down and power to find out some options. Seems to me it was Recovery mode. CWM- based recovery v.5.0.2.3 was written on display. I chose reboot system and was watching a beautiful grey hat with orange arrow under it for half an hour. I tried other options in the menu with the same hat as a result first but then I saw new screen with new options.
So what must I do now to make my phone to work again? I understood that zedomax do not usually help.

Quite simply your issue is that you were using kernel built for gingerbread and not ICS, therefore it wouldn't boot.
Selecting an item in that version is done with the home button as indicated in the stickies.
Flash a new kernel that is compatible with ICS and all these issues go away and you can boot it up.

Strange for me but after I've read the article-instruction of rooting two more times just now I did not see any indication that the kernel is for gingerbread and not ICS. How could I wait such an evil? And I've read already a lot of messages to forums but you are the first to suggest such dishonor. BTW in the instruction was written the following:
3.Put your phone in Download Mode by holding down the Volume Down key, Volume Up key, and the Power buttons at the same time. Once you see “Warning” displayed on the screen, press the Volume Up key.
That was the way I used.
Do you see any possibility to return the phone to life? It is not quite simply, as you wrote, to my pity. It is because the phone does not boot up and computer does not see it. How can I flash another kernel in such conditions?

[Q] How to Fix Samsung Galaxy S2 (Korean) getting into recovery mode on restart

Hey,
I have a Samsung S2 (Korean Version) which was working fine. Since, it is being used by my younger brother for games etc. He informed me one day that the phone is not getting started. I checked the phone, switched it on and as it displayed Samsung SII logo and jumped straight away to recovery mode.
Resultantly, i installed AOKP rom using CWM recovery. The phone started and was working fine until restarted. On restart the phone again goes to recovery mode instead of loading the Rom.
Can anyone help me in fixing this ??
I refuse to help lazy people who insist on using such silly/generic topic titles like "Help Please" instead of using common sense and putting something relevant.
If you expect people to enter/read your topic and help instead of skipping or entering to leave remarks like mine I would recommend changing title to something useful for forum browsers.

did your rom could get into the operator interface after get in the CWM mode? if not ,try to install a new rom and back up your data, then wipe data cache and reinstall again. maybe your brother deleted some system files which make the system run regularly. therefore the phone jump to CWM when restart.

Dont worry, its not a big problem.
Press & hold POWER BUTTON + MENU BUTTON + VOLUME UP BUTTON for 5-10 seconds, then you will see something written in Korean language. Just ignore that and press VOLUME UP BUTTON. Then u will enter the boot menu. Use VOLUME KEYS to move up and down. and to SELECT something click on POWER BUTTON.

[Q] iOS to Android and screwed up big time!

Hi there,
After two days of continuous efforts to resolve the issue and reading hundreds of articles and forum threads, I have tried everything to fix the problem to no avail.
I have just recently started using Android (Samsung Galaxy S3 I900T) It was purchased in New Zealand. When my iPhone died, I decided to try Android as I was getting a little sick of iOS. Anyway, since I am a total noob, I followed a great guide here on XDA forums to install a custom ROM. I installed Paranoid following step by step instructions and LOVED it. Everything was working well and I was happy with the "lollipop" as Jellybean was laggy and slow.
I then tried a couple of apps for various tasks that asked me to 'root' the device. I did not really care for it until Cleanmaster asked me to. So I installed an app (can't even remember the name) and it rebooted the phone. Now it is just stuck at "Samsung Galaxy SIII" white logo.
I tried to go into recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Home button + power and it simply won't work. Pressing volume down button however does bring the "Download mode".
According to many articles I have read, it seems my phone is soft bricked. Is there anyone who could help me to fix my phone? I am desperate and would highly appreciate any assistance! Please be kind as I am new to Android OS and pretty much a noob.
I will be checking for replies every 30 minutes in anticipation there might be someone knowledgable here to help me out.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may need to assist me and I will try my best to answer them as technically as possible.
Thank you in advance!
PS- I beg your pardon if I posted this in the wrong section or if I have not given enough information.

Hi Tallman, thank you for your response. I am currently downloading the recommended firmware (916 MB, 2 days left till completion )
While its being downloaded, I have another question: whenever I connect my phone in "Downloading mode" by pressing volume down + home + power, Odin does not even pickup on the device. It is almost like nothing is even connected. I have installed the latest Samsung driver on my PC.
Would the flashing work if Odin is not even recognizing or acknowledging my device?
Thanks

You have to wait while your stock rom is checked and in the pda box then it should recognize it look here for guides >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/guide-odin-flash-guide-t1671969 << Also I noticed in your first post you put Galaxy S3 I900T did you miss spell S3 I900 because it should be S3 I9300

Indeed, that was my bad. That is why I am so glad I have finally found someone like an expert yourself. The model is GT-I9300T. I missed the 3 in the original post. I believe (I might be wrong) the 'T' is for all the phone sets issued by Telecom (now rebranded as Spark) in Australia and New Zealand.
I have managed to download around 16 MBs lol.
Once again, appreciated your help dude :good:
My suggestion is connect your phone and keep it with Samsung kies for recovery. It would bring your phone back to purchased state.

Thanks for the response.
Kies does not detect any phone. Could it be due to the fact that the bootscreen is stuck in loop? I was loving my Custom paranoid ROM until some motherlicking app forced booted the phone in order to "root it".
I do not want to switch back to iOS and thats why I am so desperate to get my S3 fixed. I have put my SIM in my iPhone until Galaxy gets fixed.
Its strange how much I supported everything Apple back in the and how I much I dislike it now. It's like I have divorced Apple and now my Android mistress is acting up too. :silly:
Odin is too sensitive i guess i too have a s3 GT-I9300 and i have noticed that all usb cords dont work on odin. Try to change the cord it works. The shorter the better. It will surely detect just change the usb cord or try to connect to another usb port.
