[Q] how to root my xperia play??? - Xperia Play Android Development

how i can root my xperia play?????
my model is R800i
my version is 2.3.3
please help me guys

I am waiting for a method where it doesn't require to unlocking the bootloader in order to root it. It's in the stickies...

The new updates from SE really improved the phone and wouldn't want those bugs to come back again so that's why I wait to root.
Hoping a dev makes work of it

You can use gingerbreak. But it's easier to unlock it, you have more possibilities in phone modding, and it's relockable

you can root 2.3.3 with gingerbreak without having to flashback?

root your play with no locking bootloader
you won't have update .146 though I just did it and works flawlessly
basicly you downgrade root and ota update to 2.3.3 (.145)

[Q] Rooting & ICS ?

Just got an xperia mini and have some questions about rooting & Ice Cream Sandwich....
I want to root it to uninstall space taking apps, not much of tinkerer apart from that.
If I root it now, will that mean I'm not able to update to ICS when its made available?
Will I need to unroot? (if so how do I do that?)
Or am I just better off waiting for ICS, and then rooting? If so what are the chances ICS will be rootable?
thanks in advance!
I didn't cared about ICS updated,i just rooted my Mini PRO to remove apps
and i felt that after rooting my mobile became more powerful
Try it at your own risk
You may use doomloards help for rooting, search the forum here on xda
And i don't think unrooting will help you to recover your warranty
as after rooting you wont be able to keep your mobile under warranty and auto updates will no longer work
I used ftf packeges to update my Mini Pro,you may try that if you want to update your Xperia Mini

you can go ahead and root your device, doomlords has now a rooting technique that will allow you to root your device without unlocking the bootloader plus you can get official updates and you can reload any official firmware for your device.
Unlocking bootloader will void your warranty bur you can install a custom firmware/rom just like Cyanogen Mod.
Basically rooting will just add a super user account on your device, but still you can enjoy getting official updates from SE.
I have WT19i (SE Live with Walkman) rooted but boot loader locked.

[Q] Rooting SK17i - how? And will I still get ICS?

Hi everybody! I've tried clicking the search button but it's not working for me
How do I root my 0.62 firmware Mini Pro, and will I still be able to get the official ICS release from Sony?
You need to downgrade to .58 firmware, root and then update via OTA so that way youll get a .62 rooted fw, and yes, you'll be able to get ICS update as long as you dont have unlocked bootloader
you are probably new here or havent noticed that, there are now way of rooting .62 yet. the solution is go back to previous or older firmware such as .42, .58 then root will work.
if your phone is rooted, yes you can still update it to ics without unrooting it but the root will probably gone after you update to ics. but no worry about that there already a thread somewhere of how to root ics xperia
Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. I think I'll wait for ICS and then root it. No point going through all that hassle only to have it un-root.
Also, I'm very security conscious and Flashtool seems to contain a virus. I know everybody says it's a false-positive and that the exploit is just needed to get root control over the phone. I can understand that. But what's to stop the developer introducing malicious code for bragging rights or whatever?
I'm not saying they did, I'm just saying that I wouldn't know if they did...

Xperia GO - Gingerbread root

Hi,
I was searching all over the internet to find solution for this but i didn't. Gingerbread is XGO's smoothest firmware so I want to root it to delete bloatware apps and some other useful programs like titanium backup. I have tried ICS but my wifi doesn't work (tried alot of stuff to fix that), camera is too slow and it drains battery very fast. My current firmware is stock JB which i flashed with flashtool. I don't want unlocked bootloader so please tell me how to root GB on easiest way, if possible.
If there's no way to root GB without unlocking bootloader and messing up android (i'm noob), then I'm insterested into rooting JB if possible, without unlocking bootloader ofcourse.
Another few questions that I have is what exactly is bootloader and how can I lock it again if unlocked? Will I be able to update my phone with SUS or Sony PC Companion when bootloader is unlocked? What are negative effects of unlocking it?
That's about it, thanks. =)
Search the General Section properly, everything you asked are explained there already.

sorry . wrong link posted

[Q] How Do I Root My Xperia M2?

I have a Sony Xperia M2 on Vodafone UK which I want to root.
I've looked around and many people are saying use TowelRoot, downgrade to JB, find the right TFT etc. and I'm getting really confused, especially since my bootloader is unlocked.
The method which seems to work with people is to flash JB and then use an exploit to root the phone. Since the I cant unlock the BL, I dont know how to flash JB onto this phone.
Also if i root this phone, am i still able install CyanogenMod or use root apps such as Xposed Framework?
How can I downgrade the phone and root it?
Thanks In advance!
(pictures are in my album http://forum.xda-developers.com/album.php?albumid=11899)
I did it
I just did it with KingRoot, without experiencing any problem, and no downgrade was necessary. The device was not listed as compatible, but it finally did it !
I hope this will help.

[Q] Xperia Z2 4.4.4: Root WITHOUT Unlocked Bootloader.

Is there a way to root my Xperia Z2 (4.4.4) without unlock its bootloader?
Or else better, is there a way to back-up the bootloader before the unlock?
I ask because I want to root it without set a custom Rom.
Thanks in advance.
There is. You've got to downgrade to for example 4.4.2, root your phone, create a pre-rooted version of 4.4.4 and then flash that. There is a much more detailed guide around here, so I recommend that you check that out
To back up your ta partition you will need root first.
In stead of creating a rooted rom you can also find some prerooted here in the development forum.
-Use flashtool to downgrade to 4.4.2
-Root and install recovery with one of the available root methods (towelroot for example)
-Use recovery to flash a rooted 4.4.4 zip, recovery (again) and SU (again)
-Reboot
-Test network connection, if 4g is not working, use flashtool to flash a local 4.4.4 baseband
That's all.
I heard that for rooting it's required to have unlocked bootloader. Is that true?
(I have seen the root guide in forum, but I don't think that it mentions the bootloader)
My problem is that I want to upgrade the phone without errors (when sony has updates). I say that because a friend of mine has a rooted Nexus 5 with unlocked bootloader and he can't install the last update. It gives him a bootloop and returns to the previous. This is something I don't want.
Thanks in advance.
Unlucking is not needed.
Official updates should work if you're on a 100% stock rom, but updates are generally available as flashable rooted zip, here in the forums, long before you get an official update available from Sony.
So that should be no problem.
Biggest issue here that people dont search howto root on locked bl, that is possible, search and read then you will have it, example like the installations steps of a modded stock rom
