[Q] Problems on S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a samsung galaxy s2 GT-I9100.
My phone sometimes freezes and gives battery error's when I try to load.
Also when I try a factory reset I have to fill in a samsung ID and my password, I did this the first time but then my phone died when I put it back on again I can't factory reset it anymore.
No I want to try reinstalling the entire system any ideas?

Did you root it or mess around with it? If you didn't it seems like you got a dodgy phone. This one shouldn't freeze at all!

Ok here is what it does entirely and what I tried:
*Freezes
*While recharging giving a error (sometimes battery heat error)
*When on standbye automaticly ptting screen on
*Freezing
*going to car-mode (dutch: auto-modus, don't know it in english)
*Disabling sound
What I tried:
*Take out battery for more dan 24 hours to see if it works (didn't work)
*Tried a factory reset (not it doesn't say I have a samsng ID so no password wil work)

Return phone to seller/service centre as faulty .

Q - charging paused battery either too hot or too cold

Hi guys - I'm in need of some advice regarding the above error message.
I've had a look at other threads, but their issue seems to be down to root versions... My phone is only a few hours old and is not rooted or buggered about with ( yet ) ;o)
Here's what's happening :
I received my S2 this afternoon, fully charged it via the wall plug before turning it on... When charged, had a play about with it, then connected to Kies via USB, within 10 minutes I got the " charging paused battery either too hot or too cold " error.... Restarted the phone, connected to kies again, and within a few minutes I got the error again..
I'm at home now, been playing with the phone again and it's needing charged, so..... Connected to wall charger, bang ! straight away I get the error, I've had to turn the phone off for 30 mins, reconnect and now it's charging and running fine...
Now as the phone is untouched should I send it back ? or should I root to a rom that'll sort this ?
Below is the spec of phone I've got :
UK Orange,
Android Version : 2.3.3 ( up to date as per kies )
Baseband Version : I9100BVKH1
Kernal : 2.6.35.7-I9100BVKH2-CL453351 [email protected] 150 #2
Build : GINGERBREAD.BVKH2
Thank you,
Dmonty
Sorry - can a mod please move this to the Q and A section for me... My fault, sorry
Dmonty
I think its best to return the phone you should not get any errors.
play it safe and return it.
Try doing a full factory reset on it and see if it persists. A full wipe should also remove all bloatware apps your carrier infused the phone with, so its not a bad idea too. If it still happens after a full wipe, then you should send the phone back to samsung.
Thanks for the replies,
I've now done a full factory reset ( although UK Orange software is still on it )... I'll monitor the charge issue and if I see it again then I'll send the phone back..
Thanks again
Dmonty
I have the same problem today, when i wake up, i put my phone to charge and got the message: battery temp its to high or to low, but the temp its normal since my phone was in sleep mode and no apps running, the temp here its 26Âș celsius.
Well i will try a factory reset, if that didn't solve i need to send it back.

[Q] GT-I9100 does no Boot

Hi guys,
so the main Problem is, my GT-I9100 does not Boot properly, or turns off pretty fast (it somehow does boot, but it turns off while booting).
I'll try to explain step by step what i did so far.
I had a Custom Cyanogenmod 9 Rom on my Phone and it worked for like half a year now (was too lazy to update).
And suddenly it wasn't able to boot anymore as described. I thought it was the Battery so i charged it for a few hours, but still couldn't boot.
After that i tried to start into CW Recovery, wiped Cache, Wiped Dalvik -> still same problem.
Then i just let the phone on on Recovery mode until the Battery was totally empty, recharged to 100% -> still same problem.
So i thought, the rom might got crushed howsoever -> installed Original Kernel with Odin BUT the problem still occured....
That's the point where i am right now.
The Phone starts, the "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100"-Logo shows, the Boot-Logo shows up (Cyanogenmod logo showd up as well as now the Samsung Logo). On CM the Phone turned off while booting, now it always gets through the Samsung boot Logo, it initialized some apps (cause off Factory Reset) like 9/46 Apps then shuts down, after turning it on again it starts returning to initializing the apps now and again after a few initialized apps like 10/37 it shuts down again.
I kept on turning it on until all apps were initialized and now it tries to instal the initialized apps but shuts down after a short time again. And it is not able to instal a app in that short time, so i wont make any progress anymore with turning it on over and over again...
Don't really know whats wrong, already unplugged SIM. I thought about it being a Hardware Problem... But maybe it's not and you might know some way to fix it
I'll get my HTC One soon, delivery started yesterday, so it's not that much of a problem, but it's a shame 'cause i wanted to give my S2 to my brother

[Q] Phone/Launcher keeps rebooting

First off all, I'm not sure if this question is answered else where.
I have my S2 almost since the day it came out in NL.
Today a problem occurred. After I boot my phone it keeps rebooting the launcher (not sure if that's the correct name). The phone it self stay's on, I don't go back to the Samsung logo or what else - just Android it self keeps rebooting.
I run Go Launcher Ex for a long time, never had problems with it.
I assume it's a memory problem.
Had a similar problem about a year ago, where my internal memory was stuffed. After removing some apps etc. my phone was just fine again. Problem today is I cant do anything. Connection with pc fails, because of the rebooting software. I'm not even fast enough to get to the Android settings.
Edit: I tried booting in Safe Mode. Which works, till it reboots into normal mode.. and keeps rebooting. And of course there's no time to get something done in safe mode.
- Phone get's really hot when this all happens. An other indication for a stuffed memory(card) I think?
- Removed the SD + SIM, no changes.
Edit:
I was quick enough to change the launcher to something else (i believe Nova, via Home Switcher). Then reboot my phone in Safe Mode with Nova on, then the reboot of the software starts again.. and it forces itself into Go Launcher Ex without Safe Mode.
Thanks in advance,

Go to recovery and wipe cache and wipe dalvik Cache. If still not working then do Factory Reset. If the problem is still there than flash the rom again.

As my main goal was to get my data from the phone I suprised myself a lot and I'm copying as we speak the whole /emmc/ via SDK tools.
It's gonna take a while - I assume it's copying the whole 16GB.
After that I'll try factory reset's etc. and check if I can use my phone again.

Why is my GS3 doing this ?

ok,30 minutes ago my gs3 was next to me and I had music on then all of a sudden the ''Samsung Galaxy S III" splash screen appeared. It kept appearing and disappearing so I took the battery out for a while then inserted it and it turned on.5 minutes later the same thing happened and now it is working again but well this might happen again. What could be the problem ? can it be SDS ? but I had my gs3 for a year and a half so I doubt that.I'm running wanamlite 4.1.2,have been using this rom for almost a year.(except for trying out a few other roms sometimes).
Reflash your rom, try first without a wipe.

You can try this:-
Go to recovery and do factory reset. (You will loose all software installed by you, may b contact & sms too)
Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache
Tried a factory reset and tried restoring to a an old backup, didn't help.I didn't try reflashing the rom, I doubt it will work because restoring to a backup that was working fine didn't help either.I'm thinking about giving it to samsung, hope they won't blame rooting and custom rom for the problem but I'm out of warranty period anyways.
Try another rom! But with a clean install! don't restore your nadroid backup data, use Titanium Backup for your apps.
I noticed that it happens when I actually use the phone(like for a few minutes) but when it's idle,it operates normally.
I don't have any other roms right now and I can't download any because my internet is limited currently.
UPDATE: It looks like the problem is the power button because when the phone does boot, the boot menu keeps showing up and when I pull the battery and insert it again,it boots automatically.I will get it fixed, thanks all.

Encryption unsuccessful random! Need help. Galaxy S3 CM 12.1

Sup guys, so i just had a really strange problem that popped out randomly, i was watching a youtube video and i had to help a person quickly and when i came back just a minute later i saw my phone showing encryption unsuccessfull when i pressed the power button to turn my screen on. Well it said to factory reset my phone, i don't store any important data on my phone anyways so i just went for it, and it restarted went to my TWRP recovery and tried factory reseting it, to no success. It basically failed to access /data/ and other directories and i can't see any files in them through recovery. And so i can't even factory reset it, i can't install a ROM cause the partition is corrupt i assume. How can i "unbrick" this? I was running the good old Temaseks CM 12.1 ROM, has been working fine for a looong time. My PC recognizes the phone but i can't access any data, it just shows that it's connected, odin doesn't recognize it.
Can somebody help me please ? I use my phone alot and it's really important.
