Is there a way where i can reset the whole phone and get back my stock rom? I dont mind losing my apps and all

Why can you not download the stock rom ????Or at least update to the initial rom via Kies .
If you factory reset your phone it reverts to the last installed firmware .Not the firmware the phone came with .

Look at the links at the start of the thread
Download a stock rom
Flash with odin
Factory reset will wipe data, it wont put the rom back onto a stock rom.

I am a compete newbie to roms flashing ect
I have a question or 2 , i recently bought a second hand sg2, i live in the UK and have found that the phone is of German origin. I updated to 2.3.3 via kies.
Im wondering if this phone has been rooted or flashed, the kernel version reads [email protected] number 2.There are no pre installed games, which iswhy i ask the question. Also if this is still a standard phone , how do i change it from German origin to Uk specs, thanks.

If phone is rooted you will see an application called Superuser .
If you want to root a non rooted phone you use the root link posted .
If you want to install a stock rom you use the link posted and look for a XEU or CPW rom in that post for UK use .
Generic XEU (UK)
Generic DBT (German)
CPW UK

[Q] how easy is it to roll-back (un-root)?

Hi all,
A quick question on how easy to roll back (un-root) and put back the stock ROM?
My current ROM is stock Telstra ROM. (just bought the phone today)
PDA: DVKF4
PHONE: DVKF2
CSC: TELKF3
Build Info : Jun 21
I know how to roll back a HTC Desire - by installing the RUU image from HTC or use the PB99IMG.zip install method to remove "root" and put back into std ROM.
I have yet to root my SGS2. Reason to un-root and go back to stock ROM is for warranty purposes. you never know what will happen (for example, my desire decides to dies on me yesterday, had to put back stock ROM to submit for warranty claim).
thank you in advance

if i do not install any custom rom, therefore, the usb jig is not required, right?

Nope. Jig is only required to clear the custom Rom counter, in case you have to claim warranty and return the phone to Samsung. And also to force the phone in Download mode, if something bad happens while flashing custom ROM etc.
hey cad,
Made any headway here?
I just bought an SGS2 from Telstra as well and I have a similar phone to yours.
PDA: DVKF4
PHONE: DVKF2
CSC: TELKF3
I too would like to retain the stock kernel, firmware and csc.
If we root with an insecure kernel, how do we go back to stock kernel if it's not downloadable?
Could we just flash another kernel if we are making a warranty claim and hope they don't check?
I assume CSC is where all the Telstra crap is stored and once we get ROOT, we should be able to back this up out of \system

Usual is flash a relevant stock rom or older stock rom and update via Kies.

CSC is a file for network settings and does not contain any customized add ons from provider .

Hi all I new to all this so could someone point me in the right direction...
1. I need a noob friendly guide to explain what rooting is.
2. How to root.
3 what is odin and all the tools required to root and flash custom firmware.
Video tutorials would be healpful. Im comming from a HTC HD2 but it feels like the explanations were easier to find.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Return-To-Stock Clarification

Hi guys,
Just to double check before I flash CF-Root, if I want to return to full stock including recovery, flashing a stock ROM without the PIT file will do so correct? I just want the option to return to a vanilla ROM and recovery if I choose.
I did search the forum, but it was all a bit vague.
Thanks!

Hi all - similar question as I want to (potentially) return my SGS2 to stock before I sell it. I have already rooted & flashed ROM so familiar with CWM / Odin / etc. but am unsure which firmware I should be using. Is there a difference for US / UK devices; how do I decide which one to download from Intratech's link ?
I have a USB jig so will reset the flash count afterward.
TIA

That's what I was planning but can't find the bit of paper where I wrote that down
Any way of finding out by HW build / serial / etc. ? Phone was originally locked to T-Mobile but I SIM unlocked it.
I've seen on other threads that the Carphone Warehouse (CPW) firmware is unlocked so may be OK - any thoughts ?

i saw your version
flashing will not brick phone if you flash 5830 roms with proper instruction which you can get in some sticky
offcourse your phone will be updated through kies but you will have to wait for update for that specific region [in this case india if ddkq6]
all GB roms on sammobile are flashable for you...
PDA CSC stuffs give you info about region , specific identifier for update etc stuff
i was also very much concerned when first flash phone with odin... read instuctions carefully and flash device specific roms only
you might not be able to get updates through kies as samsung delays updates between regions.. so most of guys flash through odin itself
Thanx really a lot mate.
but I could only find DDKQ5. not 6
And as I am not able to root my phone, how do I back up my current Rom?
I couldnt resist and flashed S5830XWKS9_S5830XWKS2_S5830VGFKS1_HOME.tar.md5
Everything working but I have got Virgin Mobile shortcuts and Jeux game. Cant uninstall it.

It's available if you SEARCH in this forum
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
I was tempted to flash Russian 2.3.6 and I did it successfully. Cleared cache and factory reset and now even Kies accepts it and will update when available.
It is far better. I have lots of Ram available now.

please tell me which one from the versions in the thread that I posted link is the right one for me
I flashed this because in my settings it was saying that my baseband is: XXLPX
now my phone is able to go into Download mode but it cannot load up.
It just stays on the: S logo and it says Samsung Galaxy S II
cannot load up I waited for it for like 1 hour
I'm not a lamer I flashed through ODIN 3.04 clicked on PDA.
To be honest I'm not sure if this is the right firmware for my phone because like I said the only thing that navigated me to this move was the information in my: About phone Menu before I flashed.
My phone was Rooted before I do that (don't know if that makes a difference but I just wanna give the maximum information that I have)
Please somebody help me out I don't know what to do.
I live in USA I bought the phone from Amazon it was factory unlocked and that's why I don't know where did the phone come from.
Please help, thank you guys

Baseband/Modem(in ur case XXLPX) has nothing to do in selecting the right Firmware ma8, what really matters is the 'Build number' which u should have checked for in ur earlier firmware
if u can enter into recovery mode ( using Volup+ home + pwrbutton combo) then in recovery do a wipe data/factory reset, then reboot and see, if it doesnt resolve ur issue, then do reflash the Stock firmware once again from 'Odin' and see

[Q] The easiest way to flash stock

Hi all,
I want to be sure here for obvious reasons, i had a rooted s3 with custom rom/firmware, which i then used triangle, went back to stock and unrooted. However the firmware i installed isnt what i wanted, i read that the firmware with xx in it was for uk use but it seems to be primarily for israil as it has jewish as its default language and a jewish calender installed as default. So i have now downloaded which i hope is a tmobile uk firmware 19300xxella_i9300t from sammy. will i need to root again then install this with odin then reset counter then unroot and will this download cover the rom and firmware as im never to sure the firmware (screen entered when holding volume up, power button and middle button is now official stock. but not sure if this will allow me to install the official?
is theis file 19300xxella_i9300t the rom or firmware im now confused
You dont have to root to flash stock rom. You might need to reset your S3 though..

Just download the stock rom that you want (e.g. from sammobile.com) and flash it via Odin. Afterwards do a factory reset and you should be good to go. No root required.
Follow the flashing via Odin section of the guide

Rom is just a word used to describe a firmware file .
