[Q] New Android Market Look - Motorola Photon 4G

Is anyones Market look different? Has a "webbier" feel to it. I didn't see it update or anything though...

Lets see if I know how to attatch things.
Screen grab

I've had a Nexus S, EVO3D, and Photon all on my account in the past 2 weeks, the market never updates on any of them.

So your saying it just changes without actually updating the app?

google pushes out updates silently to phones you wont know it till you see it. for instance i have been in and out of the market last night. i exited it and like a minute later went back in to check out an app and the new market greeted me. the market even changed on my nook color at about the same time.
if you don't have or want it you can prob find the update floating around somewhere

My market updated last night too.

My market changed yesterday afternoon. The same thing happened on my EVO and it seems like it's happening at random.

The update broke search :-(
If you click the search button on the phone from the app launcher, and change the google icon to the market one, the search doesn't do anything anymore.

yea... I noticed it only searches installed apps. doesn't open the market anymore.

Mine has looked like that for 2 weeks.

[Q] MacRom MR8 market/app issues

First off I want to say that MacRom is the most stable/speedy ROM I've used so far (thanks for all the hard work!).
Just a couple issues with the new MR8 update:
1. The new market seems to be really slow? (maybe just due to the older Eris' lack of speed?)
2. I don't know if this is a market related issue or not, but I can't install a couple apps I use. The market doesn't give me an option to even download them: Words with Friends and Google Books. I'm not sure if it's related to the new market or if the apps are somehow incompatible with the new MR8 update?
3. Is there a way to get rid of the blue line that appears whenever you tap the screen to make a selection? I've been searching but have yet to find a way. The line just kind of annoys me, personally.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I love this ROM! Thanks!
Dude the same thing has been happening the past two days for me on Deadly and Spicy ROMs. For instance I had not been able to get Titanium but I got my Pro key fine, and same thing with XDA, regular worked fine but couldn't download premium. I took a nap earlier and woke up and had premium I'm about to check Titanium so it may be a Market issue.

Good to know. Hopefully it's just a market issue then, but still no luck for me...
same here
i too am wondering why i can't download certain apps from the market, like facebook for example. it's not already installed and i get no download button for that app in the market...but i get download button for most other apps.
also wondering about how to get rid of blue bar on menu selections.

I've seen the same issues with MR8 and MR9... I'm looking into the issue, but haven't found a work-around yet. I'm thinking it may possibly be a result of the build revision bump to 2.3.5 that might be throwing the market off (showing the phone as incompatible with your device), but it's only a theory, no fact to that yet...
Glad to know I'm not the only one as I have been having trouble downloading my premium apps too. I flashed 2.3.5 yesterday. I'm a noob so I was wondering what I Fk'd up... LOL!

[Q] How to bypass new market checks? (not talking about licence related checks)

I'm surprised to see I am the only person I have seen with this issue; either that or I'm looking in the wrong places. About a week or so ago, my android market was updated to the newest version, ever since then it has been a nightmare. apps that I have been using for over a year now say there not compatible, when I know for a fact they are. I recently flashed the latest CM7 nightly and when I brought the market back up, some of my apps said they were already installed when they in fact were not, however there was no way to override this so I just seemed to be sol.
The final straw was this; I wanted to install "multiling keyboard", so I went to the market and there was no download button to be found. So I went to the market on my PC and found that it listed my EVO and my modded HD2, it said the app was compatible with both handsets believe it or not. However it said the the app was already installed on my EVO, which at the time it was not. I searched for hours and found no way around this. So I tried a different Google account, thinking maybe it was linked with that account. I then searched for the app again, and believe it or not, It then told me that the app was not compatible, log back into the other account, and the app is listed as compatible but also listed as already installed with no way to override.
So now I find the only way to install certain apps is to uninstall the market updates so it goes back to the old market, then I can download whatever I want no questions asked. However its only temporary because within 15min it will automatically update itself again.
Get titanium, freeze market updater. Had the same issue

Ok I froze the market updater, and then downgraded the market app from 3.0.27 to 2.3.6. It seems to be working, I'll post back if I have any issues.
However even though this is a fine workaround for now, does anyone know of a way to just fix the issue? obviously we all cant just stay at an older version of the market forever.
Google has been rubbing me the wrong way for about a year now, but this has really got my blood boiling. I don't need someone telling me what they think is already on my phone what whats not. I also don't need someone telling me whats compatible and whats not. I can fully understand licensing restrictions, don't like 'em, but i get it. but as for these new checks they implemented, there needs to be a bypass feature. Either have a "I am not an idiot" setting in your account, or just a button that says "I understand the risk, Install anyway". But this is ridiculous, something has to be done. I have already sent Google a letter, doubt anyone will read it, but i sent it.
I would also love for a solution to this... not a reversion...
Anybody out there have any clue where to start? I have been searching high and low and cant find much of anything.
ITS THE LCD DENSITIES! lol. Do you change your lcd density to? Because when I change mine back the market works fine
I never thought of that, but yes I do change my LCD density, I have it set to 200 instead of 240. That explains the incompatible issue. I'm still sol though, I'm not going to change my build.prop every time I want to use the market. Also I'm still having issues with it saying that apps are already installed on my phone when they are not.
Thankfully ugothakd's suggestion is working great for now. I hope we can get this figured out. If not its just going to end up being one of those things we will have to wait forever for Google to fix.
android market compatability issues
Thank you ugothakd! I change my density from 200 to 240. Now I have access to google maps and youtube. Really sucks though I like my density set to 200. I am surprised that people are not having more problems with this dumb market.
I don't mean to bring this back from the dead. But has there been any word on this issue? I'm still stuck at an old version of the market. I've tried updating and every time I still have the same issues. Its all over my screen density, if I change it from 200 to 240 the market works fine.
I have the same issue my self i have a htc desire and now with new market to apps that are missing
if i click on link in google to point to market for app all i get is this app ain't compatible with your device when i know for fact that it do
im starting to get pissed off with it as i used the new market before it was released over here in uk and now after i update my cm rom this is all i get or the app don't show in first place
google really need to add an option to disable this feature ie under options for people who know the risks of trying to run apps that may not be intended for the device as i personally have found nearly all apps work on my phone rarely come across any that don't even all the old apps tend to work if anything this new feature is a pain in the rear so so annoyed at this
P.s screen density has nothing to do with it with me i found new market added a new device to my list yet it's the same phone i leave my screen at 240 its default hope this gets sorted soon
Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anyone resolved the issue. I love my LCD density at 180 and setting it back to 240 just to install an application really irks me.

[Q]Android Market 3.0 and newer not showing all results

Ok, so I updated to the new Market version 3.0 (and then today the newest one) and I did a search for mp3 music download (as an example) it shows 1056 results at the top but at most only shows me 7 results and when I drag the screen down to try and get the rest of the results nothing else pops up.
Now on the older version pre 3.0 I had no issue seeing all the results. This goes for anything I try to search for...and it's not phone specific as my husbands Droid X2 has the same issue not showing all the results for the same search I done.
Is anyone else having this issue...is there something I am missing because I've looked in settings...I don't know how to fix it. I would like the new market so I can +1 the apps that I have or will download..but I need to be able to pick and choose from a variety and not only 7 apps.
Please help...and thanks in advance.
If I posted this in the wrong thread..I apologize I didn't know where I should ask this question since Google is not giving me any results to my question
I've noticed this recently as well.
This seems to depend on what you search, "mp3 music download" gave me this error, "tap" di not, "mp2" and "mp4" did...
Yea i don't get errors but no matter what i search landscape or portrait its always 7 apps. Glad im not alone but its bugging me out.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Well i take that back just searched for tap and boom it auto refreshed at bottom of screen. I can live with not having mp3 results lol
But ball has almost 6000 results and i get at most fifty. Grr
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Been noticing it too. At first I thought it was an issue with MIUI, which I'm running on an Incredible 2, but today I'm getting the same problem on a brand new, stock Moto Bionic. It's starting to piss me off. Searching for "Handcent SMS" said over 1,500 results, and showed me a grand total of 3 apps - two Handcent language add-ons (Chinese and Korean), and GO SMS. What the hell?
It's a bug that Google know about with the search function, isn't fixed yet.

Amazon Appstore v2.0.0 Bugs

Had to revert back to the last version because they brought back notifications, with a whole new list of things to announce in the notification area, but still with no way to disable them. I thought this was annoying enough, and emailed them about it, but then I tried downloading a 20+mb app without a wifi connection. The new downloading notification, which I like, stayed even after the Appstore ridiculously canceled my download, and persisted through two reboots, which I really didn't like, forcing me to switch back to the old version.
Anyone else having these issues? Even if you're not, please flood Amazon with requests to enable users to turn off notifications and remove the ridiculous 20mb cap for downloads off wifi.
Thanks.

Yeah, I've had the same issues, I just uninstalled and restored with titanium, the wifi issue is the most annoying too.
I'm actually having a very strange issue installing the new Appstore. In short, I can't. I get to the prompt to install or cancel (the one that displays the needed permissions) and I can not click on install. It's there, not grayed out, but I can't select it. Running CM7 and I've tried moving it to system/app and data/app and tried installing through adb. I'm stumped. Anyone else with this issue?
I'm running CM7.1 and it installed fine, unfortunately. Consider yourself fortunate for the time being. I won't be installing the new version until the notification issue is addressed.

You think you could post the previous version .apk? I too want to get rid of the notifications. Thanks.
I miss being able to sort the "all"tab under my apps by installed... I've got almost 200 apps because of FAOD but only installed about 10.

does anyone know if the wifi issue was ever fixed? I'm still running an older version because of it...

Lol just kidding. But seriously I hate Amazon Market. I only use it for the free app, other than that I can't stand it. Notifications for everything. I sometimes get the "X new apps" notification several times a day. "Download Started" notification gets repeated on my tablet so I can't see other notifications, the clock, or easily access settings until it finishes. Forced wifi, even though at my parents' place it's 10x faster to use 3g. Can't get the free app without it automatically starting the download. Can't cancel the downloads once they have been started... Complete POS if you ask me. If they didn't have a free app every day I would never use it.

Apps automatically opening?

So this is a weird one, I haven't seen this mentioned before. At random times, while my phone is locked and in my holster, apps open on their own. I will pick up the phone, turn the screen on, unlock it and the Internet will be opened to my home page (Google). I know it wasn't like that before I turned the screen off. It's been like that on any rom I run. Right now I'm on the rooted stock rom. Any one else seen this?
I get the same thing once in awhile. Usually the last Google search I did.
At one point it would have xda open in browser, which I don't use.

I haven't experienced anything like this. Is it always the internet app that is open? Or is there other apps that wil randomly start as well?
For me always internet.
I run the Badseed tranquility ROM. Rls 3 s-off with latest radio update.

I wondering if there is come hiccup with the internet app. Have you tried a different internet app like google chrome? Maybe make that the default browser and see if you have any issues.
Good idea. Thanks.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I'll try that too, now that I think about it, it is just the internet app.
Must've been just the stock browser. I've been running maxthon browser and it hasn't auto-opened.
Happens to my wife all the time, she would come to me complaining and getting frustrated, turned out when she went to turn off the screen her palm would open what she had on the bottom right side of the screen lol. Not saying thats your problem but could be, to be honest its happened to me a couple times

Now I've got an interesting one. I flashed stock w/ goodies 2.14 today, on a reboot the dialer is automatically opened. Just to test, I flashed back to stock and have the same issue. The only new thing I did was use superwipe prior to each flash and I've never used it before. I've seen this mentioned before in another thread but I couldn't find it again. Anyone else have this happen? It doesn't affect functionality, but kind of annoying.
