Using stock 3Vo If i do not use the camera or camcorder option for a few days, attempting to bring one of them up causes a black screen which you can get out of by hitting the home button. But to get the camera app to work again you have to reboot. Any ideas on this?
Factory reset?

Yeah, this has happened to me twice, and a reboot fixes it, but not sure what is happening. I got a force close once, and then the black screen. I think there are a few posts about this already but not sure. Might be fixed on the next OTA update...whenever that might be.
This has happened a couple of times. It is a recent problem. Has never been an issue before. Must be something to do with something I installed. If it keeps happening I will probably do a hard reset. In the meantime a reboot fixes the issue.

In stock image "Gallery", when zooming a pic, screen goes black .
After the ICS update, the image gallery also suffered a problem. Sometimes while viewing a pic and you double tap to zoom in, suddenly the screen goes black...no pic. Start to zoom back out and the image comes back..zoom in again..image black screen again. This happens with random pics and wont fix itself unless you Force Stop the app in Control panel. It wont always be the same pics..anyone else get this? Its not important, I just wondered if this is just something on my phone..
After updating to the OTA, everyone has problems until they do a factory reset. It clears out all the GB crap that messes it up.
Backup your data and then power off your phone. Take out the battery and put it back in. Then press power and volume down until you see he white screen. Use the volume keys to highlight and power to select "factory reset".
Forgot I wrote this, sorry. Already did a reset long ago as per suggestions by others for other problems since the update. So the problem never fixed itself. Its some crap with ICS. Its annoying because now I keep getting this problem.
Has anyone else experienced this before?
Ok..obviously nobody knows about this. I'm going to take a short video and i'll have it up within a couple days. This photo browser is pissing me off! Is there a better or just as good (FREE) app out there in the market or on XDA? Something that doesnt have this bullsh** problem in it? Thanks ahead of time for any replies.
After my phone is running for awhile the screen won't time out, a reboot will fix it but after some time the screen won't timeout again. Also if Quick glance is activated, while the issue is present, the screen will turn on, start to dim and then the lock screen will show and stay until I shut it down. Maybe an app is running in the background and keeping it from shutting down? This is when the phone is not charging so it's not the Stay awake setting. I've also turned various settings on and off as well as changing the screen timeout, which is now set to 15 secs, and the problem still persists.
Anyone with this issue?
I've seen some (Issue 37974) with the GS3 posting about the same issue but never saw a resolution.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
I've noticed this but it usually was an app that kept it running.
From the Homescreen, try holding down the Home "Verzion" button for a few seconds. Click "Remove All" and then see if it times out. If that doesn't work, try clicking "Task Manager" instead and closing all Active Applications.
If either of these do work, then when you notice it again, be more selective in which apps you close until you find the offending app. I have a few Sound Engineering apps that use the microphone and one of them forces my screen to stay on. I'm assuming to access the mic hardware. It seems to run in the background even when I "close" the app.
I've done the remove all and nada but I'm adsuming it is and app too...
Thanks for the reply...
It must be Stay Awake in developer options that is causing this bug. As stated a reboot fixes the issue temporarily, after the reboot the Stay Awake option gets turned off on its own, If I turn it on again the issue appears again shortly after. So somehow the Stay Awake option must be getting messed up and keeping the screen on even when not charging.
My workaround is turn off Stay Awake and Use Tasker to keep the phone awake while charging. Not what I'd like, I'd prefer the system work correctly, but it works for now.
Thanks
first off are you using a different keyboard other then the Samsung one ?
i had this happen to me using Swift.
just reboot your device and you should be golden.
Dont know why the keyboard would do this to the phone but thats what it was and all i did was reboot and Timeout works fine...

Don't think the keyboard is a major issue with this. I've had this issue both when using swift and just the SS keyboard. I am more inclined to think like the other poster said that it has to deal with SmartStay. I haven't tried turning it off then rebooting, going to see if that works now. It sucks because toggling SmartStay is really useful, but i'm concerned with burn-in and especially with a battery that lasts 10hrs+, that could be an issue.

interesting...
just my 2 cents. When i switched to swift from samsung key i just rebooted and it corrected the issue. Im sure theres a permanent fix but works as a temp one imo
I just noticed this yesterday. The home, menu, and back buttons (and sometimes the search button) aren't working. The rest of my touch screen does however. I've tried restarting my phone a few times. That sorta seems to help for a little bit... has anyone else had similar issues? Any possible solutions?

Change the touchscreen.
You just need a new digitizer.. I suggest just getting the new LCD screen with frame included to make the swap easy. I done the swap myself.

Got it quite a few times now. I cant knock on, second screen wont scroll. Turn screen on cant unlock. Have to toggle on and off a few times or just leave it alone for a while and try again.. It doesnt respond to touches at all. Anyone else?
It's happened to me a few times as well, usually when my alarm is going off so it's doubly annoying because i can't hit snooze. I usually end up pulling the battery out for a second, but I really hope they're working on a fix for this.
I just noticed this problem today as well.
I have the AT&T model.
The top left corner of the screen (right below the double cameras) was not responsive at all until I restarted the phone.
Not sure what caused this issue.
The top left off The screen has been unresponsive a number of times. A restart works for a few hours. Then it stops working again...

I'm having an issue with the touch screen in the corners. Top left and bottom right are unresponsive at times, rendering the backspace button on my keyboard useless from time to time, and also won't let me start chrome from my home screen (my rightmost icon in the bottom row). On the top left, it prevents me from hitting the back button in gmail and other apps. Super annoying.
I didn't see any articles about it or find the unresponsiveness noted in any other reviews, have had the phone about 2 months now. I'm also not sure if recalibrating the screen would help since that is not in the default settings (maybe it is In the hidden menu?)
I have the T-Mobile V10.
Are any of you guys using Nova Launcher?
This started happening to me as well. I thought it was an issue with giving Nova Launcher root permission however the issue came back. There is a thread on the reddit as well with people having the same issue. I've been in contact with T-Mobile as well as LG. I'll update if I find anything else.

Could we include carrier and what launcher, even if it's stock.
I ask because there's got to be a common denominator and I'm guessing it's going to be a combo - and with more info we'll be able to figure out the issue.
It can only help.
I just had this for the first time and only once during typing in whatsapp. I'm using a whatsapp mod.
which i believe is the cause for mine. i had to click the power button and then turn it on again to work, after that no problem anymore.
Same problem. I have the Verizon lg v10 stock. The left too corner under the cameras goes dead and won't respond until I reboot. After reboot all is fine for a few hours, then boom, it happens again.
I thought it was an issue with just my phone cuz I couldn't find anything about it, went to Verizon for the 14 day worry free guarantee, got a brand new one out of the wrapper, all was fine for a day, then same issue.
Same issue here. The upper left corner of my screen will become unresponsive at times and the only thing to fix it is a reboot. I have AT&T stock V10.
Not just an LG issue.
I have a ZTE ZMAX. In the last few days it is doing the same thing. The dead spot in the top left follows the rotation of the screen. I have done a factory reset and problem returned. Seems like its a problem for many phones. It happens with the original launcher and Zeam launcher as well. It would be great if someone figured this out.
I have the same issue with my verizon v10, i have not found out the cause but i did find something that works for me. I reset my app preferences in application manager and everything went back to normal and no issues since. Hope this helps
@jstringn1 thanks for the info I'll try it out.
Honestly it's sounding like and android issue.
Hopefully Google addresses it soon.
SAME. Just bought the V10 on Sunday and I've already noticed the same thing; the upper left hand side of the screen is unresponsive. It seems to ONLY be for certain things though. Stupidly I rebooted to fix it before I fully tested that theory, but I think it's only with certain things. For example, when I open GoogleMaps, I can't hit the "Menu" button in the top right hand side. But if I close the app and go to a screen where I have an App in that same corner, tapping on it seems to open it right up. I hope that info helps to troubleshoot....because I'm ready to take this phone back....but not before I post my review on my YouTube channel.
@jstring I just tried your suggestions. Seems to be ok thus far, but I'll check back in with you all later to let you know if the issue has come back. Because a reboot fixes too...but only temporarily. We'll see.

Did you go to Settings -> Device -> Apps -> Downloaded -> More Options (three dots) -> Reset app preferences?
If so, I tried this , but the top left corner of the screen is still unresponsive.
I also completed reset my phone to factory. No Nova launcher or anything else.
Really puzzled here.....
New findings:
Every time when I open the LG music app (the purple one that came preinstalled), it will trigger the issue. (Please try this on your phone and post your findings )
same issue here
the bttom right is not responsive
and i need to restart it every now and then
i am using it without any mods
but
any one would relate this issue with the latest update as as far as i remeber it showed only after the software update
my software version is
V10 ame xx
I think it started happening after I got the AT&T update. Didn't think it was related, since Verizon V10 has the issues too.
Same here

Did your phone get an update from Verizon recently?
v10 AT&T, has the issue. Using NOVA Launcher. Willing to change launchers if I can use that back button.
I have been experiencing what I believe are random presses of the home button. Every so often I will be reading something and the app I am using will close to the home screen without me touching the screen. If I open resent apps the app I was using is right there and when I open the app it is right where I left off. So I believe it is a home button command and not a force close of the app.
If anyone has an idea of how to figure out what is going on here I'm open to suggestions. I'm working with someone to try and use Tasker but I'm over my head, as I do not use Tasker much.
Any idea are appreciated.
Thank you.
I have been getting these too, happens a lot when using the keyboard and no it's not me pressing different buttons for sure.
Same phantom home button presses are happening with me too. I first thought maybe I was too close to the screen and it was seeing a touch, but later it happened a few times while the phone was just sitting on a table without me even around it. At least I know it's not just me and hopefully LG can fix this in a software update, because it is annoying.
Can confirm, I've also been getting this. Thought it was me at first, but I've also seen it when the phone wasn't being touched.

Following this, I swear this has happened to me also. I thought I was touching the second screen causing it. I will say I have not seen mine doing it just sitting there.

It's done it once or twice a day for me. Today it did it while I was using Google maps for navigation and navigation minimized to the pop out screen. So I am fully convinced it's a home button command. I wasn't even holding the phone so it definitely wasn't a slip of my thumb.
As an update. I havent had this issue in awhile. Wondering if they addressed it in an update?

Same here... Haven't noticed it in a while.
In the U.S., I know for sure that T-Mo and AT&T units got a small patch bringing us from the Feb. 2020 security update to the Apr. 2020 security update.
It's entirely possible they snuck in some bug fixes as well.
I get it still on my phone here and there so don't think it's fixed yet and I got the newest update already.. and do u guys know how to hide home buttons without gestures like my old v30 I can't figure it out.
I believe it has something to do with the actual phone and not software related. The reason i say this is because if you put your phone down and touch the screen it works fine but use it while holding the ghost touch comes back.
