ok im stuck on my boot logo for my motorola droid 2. its a liberty logo, no the original M logo, ive held in x when it starts up and then it takes me to the triangle and then i hold the search button down and then it takes me to a menu saying this:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
ive already tried just rebooting it and then it does the same thing again and just gets stuck at the boot logo, so please help. thanks!
Have you tried pulling the battery out for about 15 seconds?
See if that clears it up.
with it unplugged and turned off?
Yes Sir. Unlug it and turn it off.
yes i just did that and it didnt work, its still at the boot logo, the only thing i can do is go to that recovery menu that i said about in my 1st post, but idk what to do when i get there?
Try wipe data/factory reset.
Obviously you're gonna have to tweak your settings again.
okay, is there anyway i can get my settings back like a recovery? or something
Well, you might want to head in to the Droid 2 forums to get better responses related to your phone.
Here is a link to start with.
As far as recovery goes, I don't think you have a custom recovery installed. Sounds like you have a stock phone. So, there's no way of backing your stuff up.
i have it rooted and a rom on it but nothing custom, but thanks for all your help

If you have it rooted, did you ever perform a Nandroid backup ?
Do you have a non standard recovery installed?
EDIT: Sorry re-read last few post and come to conclusion that you probably don't.
sorry but doesnt rds lite 4.8 and the correct sbf file let u flash back to stock?
If your phone is rooted then you have changed your kernal. It might be a fault with the kernal.I had a similar thing happen in an SGS.It was rooted and when i flashed the kernal againh via CWM it also got stuck on the same as you.The only way to solve it was boot to download mode and flash via odin again.

Hi
I just flashed my GS2 for the 2nd time via Odin and everything went fine, no errors or something like that.. The problem is that now i'm stuck on a boot loop.
The phone keeps restarting at the first boot animation and i can't do anything..
I've tried to reflash with other roms, stock rom's, stock kernel but nothing works..
Can i have some help please? :/
Thank you
EDIT: Just noticed that this is not the right section for posting this sort of things.. Can i have it moved to the right section please? Thanks
EDIT2: Forgot to mention that this started to happen since i did an hard reset using the *2767*3855# method.
Turn off the phone -> Hold volume up + power + home -> in recovery wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
That worked for me when I was locked in a bootloop the other day at least, can't say if it'll work for you though :/

This worked for me.. Many thanks!
Im still getting this!
I can flash a rom and it reboots, so I boot upinto recovery and wipe data and cache and its still mucing up
please im going insane
I fought with this BIG time.... it did not matter what I flashed or reset, I was constantly stuck in a boot loop.... but then Chainfire said this, took me a couple of tries but it worked.... I did not full understand the gist of it, but the end result is my phone is up and running....
remember, once you flash the stock rom, you have to do the recovery reset (should be blue instead of orange).
I will post the link in a second, I have to find it, lol
"Villains ROM doesn't include kernel AFAIK (yet!). Again, don't fear. This is a Samsung device, unless you botched up flashing a bootloader, you aren't going to break it. It is epically difficult to break Samsungs by accident.
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 for some stock firmwares. Do a full wipe after flashing (from recovery). I advise the XEU KE7 variant."
Possible fix
Hi,
I had a similar problem and following exactly Intratech's post #108 from the following thread solved my issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&page=11
The three file install went OK and then I was able to install the latest "one file" tars as usual.
Intratech's #108:
I assume you know how to use Odin. Download the firmware from this link and extract everything to one folder: http://hotfile.com/dl/116656855/2ccf2f4/I9100XWKDF.rar.html
The password for the file is: samfirmware.com
Start Odin and put these in the following
PDA: CODE_I9100XWKDF_CL170898_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
CSC: GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXXKDD.tar
Modem: MODEM_I9100XXKDJ_REV_02_CL996627.tar
Forget the rest of the files. DO NOT SELECT A PIT FILE AND DO NOT TICK REPARITION.
Put your phone into download mode and connect the usb cable. When the Odin box turns yellow press flash and wait until phone reboots. The first boot will take a while... be patient.
It's 2:58am here so I'm off to bed. I don't know how to make this simpler for you.

Ok so I'm fairly new to the rooting scene, and these forums, but so far everything has been pretty good, except for one small problem. I installed a custom boot logo, and afterwards my phone was lagging a bit. I contacted the boot logo programmer, with no response, so I decided to wipe my system and use the backup from right before I installed the custom boot logo. Unfortunately, the boot logo has not changed, and my phone 'fails' whenever I try to flash something from Odin. Anyone know what to do in this situation.
If you want to do a full wipe of you device, cos it sounds like tha boot logo is corrupt, then boot to recovery and wipe cache partition and dalvik cache.then go to "storage and mounts" and format system, data and cache.Select "Go Back" and factory reset your phone and reboot. If it doesnt go past the boot logo after 1min then pull the battery, put it back in and turn it back on.Its a pain in the arse but it will completely clean up your device and if you where rooted you will need to probably reroot but berfore hand plug in your phone to your PC so it gets recognized again.
EDIT:Just incase, first of all download titanium backup from the market and backup your apps!!!!

You need to wipe usb storage, sd card, then put phone in download mode, flash stock ROM using Odin. You need to fully wipe everything.

I've trying reflashing the stock ROM and kernel; however, it gives me a FAIL and says can't open the serial (COM) port.
I have solved the problem by closing Samsung Kies and wiping the system, thanks for all the help offered.
i recently rooted my phone and flashed clockwork and was running beastmode kernal on stock rom.everything was working ok i used to get little glitches here and there so i tried to restore my phone back to factory.i entered the recovery mode and wipe date/factory reset and then went on to restore the backup.everything went smooth until i reboot the phone and now the phone is stuck in the droid(eye logo) and wont past that at all and just glitches and freezes on that screen.my friend has tried to fix it but there is no communication between the phone and the computer(usb debugging must have been disabled when i wipe data/factory reset and i basically cant do anything to fix it.is there a way around this to where i can just reset the phone to factory or install a rom or something

Your phone is not bricked. When the phone is stuck on the droid eye, hold the power button and the volume down key at the same time until it reboots. This will get you into bootloader mode. Press the volume down key to highlight recovery and press the power button to enter it. Once you're in recovery go ahead and restore a backup or reflash something new. Either way make sure to do a full wipe.

thats what i did i restored my backup and this is what happens. and i cannot push any files over to the phone because usb debugging is not enabled so there is no communication between the phone and computer at all
boot into recovery then use "adb push <path to rom> /mnt/sdcard/" to put a rom on the sd then install. Make sure you use a boot.img that came with the rom if it has one as it may cause problems if you don't.
Edit: you will need another rom for this and I would recommend reflashing a boot.img

USB debugging has nothing to do with ADB in recovery, recovery basically has its own kernel and ADB is always enabled. Are you saying ADB doesn't work in recovery? If so, it is probably a driver problem with your computer. Also, some phones randomly get corrupt /data/ partitions (mine used to get them until I started using DSB's stock kernel with system write) and the only way to fix it is to do a factory reset or restore a backup. This might be what happened to you. If so just do a factory restore and see if it will boot.
Perhaps reflashing recovery? Worth a try if ur still having problems, also try installing then uninstalling htcs sync app.

Hi Guys,
I've rooted my S3, and installed PhilZ Touch 5. Then I clear Data/Factory & Cache along with Delvik. I then proceed to install the custom rom from a zip.
It all installs fine, and says it has done so. But when it reboots, it gets stuck on the GalaxyS3 logo, with a little red Exclimatin mark in the top left corner and stays on that screen until I remove battery or reboot into download or recovery mode...
It seems I just can't load the newley installed roms. I've tried multipul, Archidroid, LiquidSmoot, pureLook HD, etc..
Has anyone run into this problem?
Its an Australian S3, so its the International i9300 btw.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Also, is there a way to completely wipe the phone and start from scratch, as I keep seeing ArchiDroid folders in the SD.
To start completely new you can use mega wipe. It will delete anything but the ext sdcard, hence be careful.

Thanks, I'm thinking a MegaWipe would be the best bet, and then start fresh with a custom rom. I need to read more first so I don't screw up the phone..
just to update. the problem was solved with a mega wipe, i installed a new rom, and everything booted normally .
thanksssss
same problem i think except the red exclamation on the corner
Mr. John. i have the same problem now. You removed the battery after being stucked at the logo of samsung right? i wonder, were you able to go back to the home screen after removing the battery? thanks

No, if the phone won't boot after installing a new rom then no amount of battery pulling is going to make it boot.
Flash the super wipe .zip from recovery, assuming you've followed the instructions from your rom chef correctly.
survived the stucked screen

I already escaped the stuck screen. thankfully i have a nandroid back up (and i can still access the recovery mode). i was able to recover my old phone status.
thank you!
I was able to boot into recover & download mode, I was able to flash via odin any custom recovery and boot into it, I was able to wipe the cache/settings & delvik via recovery and then install any rom I liked, I could however not boot into any new/custom rom.
I then ran the MEGAWIPE.Zip in Philz, which I believe wiped some framework or something that was left behind stopping new roms to boot. I then installed a New rom, and it booted right away. No trouble what so ever...
I tried to install a new theme on jasmine rom. I rebooted and phone said updating app, and remained on update app for over 5 minutes. So I rebooted and the phone remained in the jasmine boot screen. I knew I had a problem so i rebooted into recovery, did a complete wipe and installed my backup and rebooted. The phone started to reboot (Lg splash screen) and then stopped. The screen went dark and my red and blue LED lights started blinking. I tried to get back into recovery manually. I was able to get to stock recovery, hit factory reset and instead of going to TWRP, it went back to the black screen and the blinking LED lights. Same results occurred when I hit safe boot.
I also tried to get in DL mode with the volume up button. Instead, the LG splashscreen came on for less than a second, the screen went black and the blinking lights came again. I tried ADB but it won't recognize my phone. Any suggestions, or is this a goner? Thanks for your help.
So to install jasmine you had to have twrp installed. Then you said you booted into recovery and the stock recovery came up and you said yes to factory reset. that scenario of booting into stock recovery and saying yes was only the first time after installing twrp. everytime after that if I choose to boot to recovery twrp screen comes up first. Confused cause I'm nut sure if this is normal behavior with some phones that have been bumped.

If you boot into recovery from the advanced reboot menu, it goes directly to TWRP. However, when you use the hard key combination, it goes to the stock recovery and when you select factory reset, it is supposed to go to TWRP. It doesn't. I have a new phone on the way.
I accidentally took the update from Verizon and when I went to install it I got the same thing. I would get the lg/android bout screen and then it would go to twrp. I tried to reboot, wipe everything and restore back up and nothing changed.
Then I found this post
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...cked-lg-g2-stuck-twrp-no-download-mode-3.html .
This saved me. When in twrp you go to the advanced tab click terminal command, then select. Just follow this directions and you might be golden.
This just worked for me and I didn't have to flash back to stock. I know this says it is for the g2, but it worked. Good luck.

So any idea what exactly went wrong here? How did a basic "theme" apparently completely bork your recovery and brick your phone??

I have no clue what happened; Verizon sent me a new phone. I don't have a clue whether this was related to the theme, or not. It may have been an unrelated hardware issue.
