My screen is turning on when SMS is received - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I´m not sure if it was after froyo update, but my screen is turning on when I receive an SMS. Why is that? I want to stop it.

The phone should awake for a moment to the lock screen when you receive anything, messages or emails. You could turn off notifications and that might werk.

could turn notifications off (dont know how to though) like the guy above said but have BLN on, then only your touch buttons might light up and not the screen
dont know if that will work or not

why the disable lock screen on the samsung original froyo rom doesn´t work? Even if I set disable lock it doesn´t disable, is it a bug?

[Q] Android 2.1, no lock screen??

Hey guys,
yesterday i flashed my X10 to the nordic 2.1 FW, rooted it and cleaned it up. Everything looks fine, but when i press the on/off button the phone online turns off the screen, but is still unlocked
When i push the button again i come back to my homescreen and not to the lock screen
Any suggestions?
Flash again
it's not a bug, it's a feature!
How did you do that? Don't want Lock Screen

You don't, must be a bug. Reflash or repair.

Find No Lock application on market. It handles that. Keep in mind that it must be running to work.

But it's not a feature of the 2.1 FW, and as the OP hasn't mentioned any apps it's more than likely a bug.

[Q] Notification LED

Does anyone know how to use the front key lights as notification led's on our L9 since we don't have one? I found out how to use the camera flash as one but that's the back of the phone and i don't like facing the phone screen face down on anything in fear of scratching the screen.
If there is not a method already around somewhere to do this, how hard would it be to get this working? I think it would be a great asset to our L9s!
R: [Q] Notification LED
Use LG Notifications from Playstore. It's free but requires root.
Sent from my LG-P760 using xda app-developers app
I tried that before posting and it didnt work :/

Please try the NOLED app. Probably a better option. Tried on my HTC Glacier. Works.

Works for me.
How does it behave for you? On my L9 nothing changed at all once installed and enabled :/ What settings did you choose? Do they flash after the screen turns off for awhile after the notification, and stay flashing until they are read??

I just chose the default settings, and it flashes the front key lights till the message is read. Maybe cause I'm using P760 V10h on my P765.
The app is a battery drainer since it wakes the cpu up each time the buttons light up.
Im hoping they can program this feature into future roms for the L9 where it just causes the LED's to blink until the screen is turned back up when a notification is received. Not sure if its possible to program the blinking to run without waking the cpu?
That was another concern of mine, but if it was integrated into the rom in such a way to not wake the cpu then battery life would not be affected as much.

[Q] Screen goes ON message notification

Hi,
Is there a way to make your screen goes ON when you receive a message/sms? like when you have incoming calls? Cos my DX is always on Silent/Vibrate mode and i barely notice it with a led notification, I need to have this.
Thanks.

This is super helpful, thank you for going through this. I got it setup but still having some issues - the notch light is always on haha. going to have to tweak this some more.
Hey all,
Check out the app LED Blinker Pro, there is an option to have a blinking light on the screen. Looks exactly like previous samsung phones, and you can also have multiple lights for different notifications. Problem solved!

Did you try it and does it work?
Just to know if the API that supports it is there.
It seems the downsides of all the led apps is that once you get the notification you can't unlock the phone with the fingerprint sensor, you have to double tap the screen or something to cancel the app and then unlock the phone.
Working pretty well for me this far. I added this app on my gf's and my S10 Plus's. Besides going through the bevy options we have it setup. The light only goes around the camera when a notification comes in. Still doing some tsing so I'll update if anything.

There is an option though that you can select that if you pickup your phone, it goes right to the lock screen so you don't have to dismiss the led screen.
nice app but it's a killing battery

I noticed that, but then beside it it said it uses more power. I switched to aod instead, if only you could get rid of the clock and date and simply have notifications on it.

I also have problems, even after setting Messenger to ignore battery optimization. The only way of getting it to work for me is enabling Chat bubbles and thats not a solution I like
I could never get it to wake up the screen. I actually prefer it that way since it provides more privacy to wandering eyes. Maybe a routine could be executed to wake up the screen upon recieving an incoming message.
