Under settings>sound>volume,
there are 4 types.
i only know 3 of them.
"incoming call" is the ringtone volume when the phone receive a call
"Media" is volume of apps, games, music player etc
"notification" is the notification sound like sms, reminder, calender etc
but what is "system" sound?
i notice that the system sound is related to the camera sound,
if i turn system sound all the way down to minimum, the camera focus and shutter sound gets turn off. (i love it that way)
as much as i like to camera shutter sound to be off, i am worried that i might mute some other "important" system sounds, so may i know what are the apps that are related by the system sound?
also, there seem to be many tutorial on how to mute camera sound, why is that needed if this simple way of turning system volume off can do the trick? perhaps is because it cause more harm than good? (such as muting other "important" apps sound)
Hmm....no reply from anyone.
no one knows the answer? or this is too stupid question?
anyway, i left the system volume off for few days now, it seems normal,
viber notification sound still on, only difference so far is the screenshot sound is muted as well.
for fyi for any one who is interested
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 rooted.
How can you remove (permanently and with active mode sounds)
the sound of a screenshot?
I know that the sound can be removed silencing the phone,
but I want the screenshot sound does not feel even when the sounds are active.
I tried "local_prop" and "camera_apk modded" methods
but the screenshot sound is always present.
Help me please.
In the sound settings, turn the system volume all the way down & leave it there. I leave my system volume muted and never hear the screenshot sound or camera shutter when taking pictures.

I know this method. But I want turn off screenshot sound with all sounds on.
Is possible rename the sound file of the screenshot? Where is it and which is the name? (...so I can rename it with root explorer)
hi there,
i can't stand the default android notification beep when the battery is almost empty. is there any way to disable it or at least decrease the volume?
because no matter which sound profile i am using (vibrate or full sound), no matter how my overall loudness has been set, the annoying notification beep is ALWAYS F****ING LOUD ...(which i really hate ;-))
thanks for your input.

This might work:
Backup and delete
Code:
-system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg
-system/media/audio/ui/TW_Low_Battery.ogg
The vibration will still be there.

The guide is not for ICS, but if the sound-files are there it should work.
Just take nandroid backups etc before to be on the safe side.
Hi all,
Bit of a question here.
I've just upgraded from a Galaxy S3 to the Xperia Z2 and overall I'm loving it so far. It's just such a huge difference. Only thing I'm missing is a screen protector (As soon as I removed the peel from the one included in the box it just seemed to suck dust from the air and became impossible to put on without dust and bubbles being under it ) but overall it's a great experience.
The only issue I have is that, compared to my S3, and compared to the volume that games/videos can reach, my ringtone and alarms seem to be very low volume, even when the volume is turned up to maximum.
Is this something others have noticed?
I've tried several alarm apps, the stock one, Alarm Clock Plus and Alarm Clock Xtreme Free but all of them put the alarm at the same level which just isn't as high as I could get from the S3.
Does anyone know of a way to boost this? The alarm in particular is what concerns me the most, since I use my phone as an alarm clock to get up in the mornings for work. At the moment I'm a tad paranoid so keeping my sim-less S3 as a backup alarm to go off 5 minutes later

Not possible unless Sony updates their firmware.
Needs root to change the gain levels.
me to I've just upgraded from a LG G2 to Z2 and i have same issue the notification/ringtone very low
Hm. Well, for me, my alarm wakes me up just fine. I'm not exactly a light-sleeper, but definitely not a heavy one either.
As for text messages... I do occasionally not hear it.
Darn. Hopefully it's something Sony address in future updates.
I'm looking to avoid rooting at the moment given that I bought the phone Sim-free so am rather paranoid about bricking it.
Same thing for me.. Tried to play some music first then turn on the alarm and it's such a difference! I too use my phone as an alarm and I really can't be late for work anymore Tried several alarm apps as well but no luck.. Hope they fix it soon

Will check this option and share my experience
Thanks anyhow
Any confirmation?
I thought it was the volume security policy used by Sony like on their MP3 Walkman.
Anyone tried with Viper4android?

Thanks, tried it and its noticeably louder when receiving a sms
I haven't tried it yet, but this thread mentions another setting that might boost the volume of the internal speaker.
Will be testing it later today when I get home from work. Don't want to be testing my alarm in the middle of the office XD

Enable xloud as well
low ringtone for alarm
Hi,
In the sound selection menu for the alarm I have the possibility to replay a new possible tone. This is much louder than the alarm and it is much louder when the tone that is emitted when I pull the volume slider for the alarm to the right and keep pressed, which is too quiet for me. Currently, I find no way to set a reasonable volume. Currently, the vibrator is almost louder.
What have I done so far? I tried diffent sounds and mp3s. I have turned off all sound effects. No increase the ringer volume, no EQ, no Sourroundsound, no Clearaudio +, no normalization. The adjustable volume, is whe I use the side-mounted switches -> to maximum. Also the menu Sound settings volume - every sound slider is at max. However, the max volume is also different than the volume that is output when I replay this file in the menu where I can choose the alarm tone. The replayed sound is much louder and enough for me.
Please not a new ROM, I do not want to tinker.
Thanks for your help
Greetings
P.
This sound issue is already fixed on the new FW (.314).

No, the newest software .314 doesn't fix the problem. Without xloud and normalization(this helps the most I think) turned on I could barely hear notifications. Now they are the same level as when I play them from notification picker. Which all is kind of weird to be honest. Ringtone is normal when somebody rings me. But level of notifications when SMS comes or whatever is 2 times quieter than when playing sound from notification picker in settings menu.

There's a mod in Themes and app section where you can get both speakers working for notification as stock Sony ROM only use bottom speaker for notifications. This might help a bit
One thing I've noticed with xLoud is that if I put the phone into vibrate/silent mode, then the xLoud setting no longer takes effect when I put the volume back up again. Even if I disable and re-enable the xLoud checkbox, I'm back to the volume I got without xLoud. The only way to get it working is to power off the phone and then power it back on again.

Yea I used the mod before but that doesn't change anything :/ Sony messed up firmware.
xperia Z3
I solved the problem. I downloaded the app Ringtone Maker, opened it in the desired mp3. Click on the Fade and volume and set to 4-5. Save as like new notification and add to the desired application. Done.
The shutter sound suddenly disappeared, so I have no feedback whether it worked or not, short of going to the gallery and checking.
Since it's a new phone I've been tinkering with it a lot and must have pushed the wrong button somewhere along the line.
Do not disturb is off. Setting "Camera Sounds" is on.
Any ideas?
Thanks
