If you're referring to the screen timeout default period, it can be changed under Settings->Display->Screen Timeout. The options range from 15 seconds to Never turn off. I think the default is one minute and that is where mine is set. I think cm7 on my evo had a 1 min timeout by default and the same with AOSP on my ns4g, so I've become used to the longer period.
Hope that helps!
Actually I'm referring to the amount of time from the screen being off to the time it actually starts to sleep...if anyone knows the answer please chime in

how are you gauging this? where are you seeing this information? can you provide more details? perhaps we can view this information on our EVO 3Ds and see if they're all the same or different?
ive heard of issues with android and the linux kernel regarding wakelock stuff...not sure if thats related to what you're saying.
i'm sure if anybody else has answers, they'll chime in. generally, more detail you can provide the easier it'll be for answers to be given ...
Reboot. turn screen off. check in battery settings periodically (i wonder if there's an ap that makes this easier). usually takes 5 or more mins for phone to sleep, OG EVO seemed to sleep much faster....please report findings

How can I make it so that the device won't fall asleep while connected to the AC? And have max brightness while also connected to the AC? You know, simple stuff that you'd be able to do with a laptop, and that I remember having in my EVO 4G.
10 minutes is longestscren on time. Id imagine thats because it. COuld potentially damage the screen or posibly overheat the phone to be constantly on for very long periods but actually theres an app on the market called stayawake by runks that is rated almost 5 stars. It allows the screen to remain on when pluged in the ac adapter

I leave my phone off every night. The only way I know of to unlock the phone while it's on is to quickly tap the power button to bring up that slide-to-unlock screen. But now that action turns on the phone when it's off, which I don't want. (I didnt think it used to do that?)
How can I tell if the phone is on without turning it on?

Depending on the rom/kernel you use you can set other buttons to wake the phone. There's a volume key mod in most ROMs or leedroid tweaks and there's the sweep2wake tweak on certain kernels.

I assume you are rooted? There's many option, roms with leedroid tweaks allow you to wake the phone up with volume buttons, camera button wake, sweep2 wake is kernel mod that allows you to slude your finger across the capacitive buttons to wake

Plug it into a charger, or unplug it. 90% of roms turn the screen on when charging. If it only shows the orange light, then its off.
Simplest no hack way I could think of.

The phone would still turn on though wouldn't it.
Strange question but I also hate when I go to check to see if the phone is on at work and it boots up, so I have to also wait before turning it back off. It can be a pain.
Some useful ideas in here though to check.

I don't understand why I'm getting such awful battery life; I've heard such good things about AOSP as far as battery life is concerned. I've got screen on auto, and I used incredicontrol to set my governor (I think that's what it is called) to conservative. Can anyone help me dissect the problem?

Just be patient. The kinks silk aren't worked out and we don't have any real kernels out yet except for meadows kernel but it's still new. The kernel makes a huge difference on any Rom.

How long was your screen on? If 1.5 hours or so, I would say your close to normal depending on what you were doing.
Get Better Battery Stats and see how long your phone is in Deep Sleep..and if not very long, you can see what is keeping it awake..
I didn't use it at all; I checked it after first block and it had lost about 10 percent. Then I checked it after second and that's what it was at

Your pic says the screen took 44% of the power. Consider the signal strength in your school. If you have a weak signal the phone uses more power. Maybe try airplane mode for part of the day. Also, I have found I get better battery life on the network as opposed to my school's wireless. The school's wireless is always polling the phone resulting in greater drain.
Here's the link to Better Battery Stats on XDA... FREE XDA versions are found at the bottom of post #2. I/We don't have your phone so other than general statements we are of little help. Get BBS and see what is using the juice...that's how I found out the school's wireless was waking my phone all the time.

well from what i see you have google now or some transit app running. those tend to take up a ton of battery. use the bettery battery stats that someone posted and see whats running. once you find out you can use an app like autostarts to keep stuff like that not running when it doesnt need to.
Also another way to tell whats running is to go to settings > apps > running. if you see a process you dont like running just kill it and try to stop it with autostarts. I know from experience that facebook is one of these pain in the a$$ apps that always wants to be running for some god forsaken reason. Anyway just start with that. thats probably your main problem as i can also see you have juice defender, which is probably helping battery.
There wasn't a download for it; only someone's text information. Does anyone have an APK for it? I don't have the money for it Before school starts tomorrow I'll be sure to kill running apps. Also, I wasn't on the school's Wi-Fi at any point because we don't have Wi-Fi, my high school is poor. Lol

autostart app won't run in foreground so you don't have to kill it. it'll stop access as it needs to based on what you disabled from automatically starting. be careful what you prevent from starting up cause it can defect your setup requiring a fresh flash install
This is my battery life just a few minutes before I posted it yesterday; I took it off the charger at the same time. For some reason yesterday the android system ran much longer than today; the difference is obvious on my battery life.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
the 3 best things to do is keeping brightness down/off whenever possible, using better battery stats to monitor partial wakelocks and keeping apps from running too long in the foreground

A good thing to do would be, charge it Friday night, take it off the charger Saturday morning and let it sit on the counter of 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, then check to see what has been waking it up. You can google what you find to determine what process they're related to if not obvious to you.
Alright, well we've seen the battery thread where people have gotten 2 days on their batteries. Let's see who has the worst performing battery stats. You know, u use the phone til it dies being on xda, chrome, or dead trigger.
No damaged batteries please. Worst time, I buy u a sprite/beer. I will start.

I'll get a screenshot when I get a chance, wifi I can go about 5 hours non stop, about 4 hours on 3g depends what I'm doing, dead trigger eats my battery like crazy though, I'm betting 3 hours or less but I'm curious, gonna find out.

On stock 30 minutes of dead trigger kills like 25% battery and on CM10 its like my battery is being chugged rather than sipped, I was expecting it to be the other way around lol

OK i cant post links so no screen shot
I use a bluetooth 2.1 module with my phone 9 hourse a day. with just data, snyc and bluetooth on I kill right around 70% in 3 hours. Ill get screenshots, it gets worse than that too.
So I'm starting to notice that my screen will not shut off unless I shut it off with the power button...I have it set to shut off after 30secs...but after that time the screen only dims down and doesn't shut off to the lock screen...I have nothing set up like no auto brightness or anything...seems like a reboot will fix it for awhile but then it does it again...even on charger it'll just dim down and not shut off...am I missing something here? :/

My only guess is maybe if you're using a different launcher it could mess up the screen timeout.
I'm using the LG 4.0 launcher from their website...the phone will be fine after a reboot for awhile and then it will do it again...I've already factory reset it...is there a way to check wakelocks without root? Bc even when the screen is off I notice my battery drops like I don't think it should so I'm wondering if it's a rogue app causing issues tho I have the same apps on here that I had on my g3 without problems...

Although it sounds like this is probably happening when you aren't charging as well, I use the "Stay awake" located in "Developers options" to keep my screen on while plugged in (this does not affect time out when not plugged in). It dims but does not turn off with this setting. It may be worth checking if this option is ticked for you.
As others have said, there is a possibility of the launcher interfering, or perhaps whatever app you are currently running.
Restarting is not a sane solution, so I'd suggest if all else fails, perhaps seeing if this would be covered under warranty.

I am facing the same problem like yours, did u get any solution for it?
I also had the same issue. What I did was I went to the battery settings ang manually stop each app listed in the battery usage. And as what I've observed, the app causing it is Spotify. I don't know why spotify does this though.
Has this ever been solved?
