[Q] PlayStation Controller - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if this App works for Stock Software or CM7 on our SGS2?
I read that it does not work on the Stock software, but the test app says it should work on my SGS2 running CM7. I dont have any of the controllers, so I need someone to confirm this!
According to this link http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/about.html, it should work on CM7 because it use the correct protocol for BT.

reguarding the BT stack to make the dualshock 3 work on android, can it not be pulled from "somehwere" and inserted into our stock roms? Or is there more to it than just that? can someone please educate me as to what would have to be done to make dualshock controllers work on any rom?

I bought i ControlPad - works fine with stock BT drivers.
Swyped from SGS2.

Wii controller for Samsung Galaxy s

I downloaded the Wii controller app on the market, but it gives me the message. Error! your device does't support bluetooth!
has anybody else got the wii mote to connect to there device for gaming.
i got an ass of emulators, roms, and isos so i need a decent input method
From what I understand, the bluetooth stack in samsung's version of Android isn't properly implemented or is missing features of version 2.2 etc. In effect, keyboards, mice, bluetooth controllers wont work until an updated bt stack is hacked into the roms. More than likely will be implemented in CM6 methinks. Cant wait!
Thanks for the explanation. 2.2 on galaxy s is gonna be very nice.

the problem is most likely that the program is designed for bluetooth 2.1 and we have bluetooth 3.0 so there is a compatability issue there. when they update the program to the newest bluetooth version, it should work again
Good to know. I sure hope that is the only issue plaguing the software. Not really wanting to deal with old bt stack ala HTC with Sense.
Any update, I'm using darky 10.2 but still doesn't seem to work (the app seems to stop when it detects the phone type, rather than any specific error)
Read the previous posts, it doesn't work on Samsung roms, aosp (cyanogen) roms do support it though.
I wish it worked too...
What about ICS?

[Compatibility List] Bluetooth HID/IME for Fascinate.

Update: I am now going to be updating this thread with Roms that work with the WiiMoteController app and other HID support. If you have any extra info, please either post or PM me.
It seems that these are mostly roms built from the ground up, ones with 99% of the samsung crap removed. Here's to hoping for a nice BT stack!

I was wondering with EB01, whether HID input was supported. I really want to use a bluetooth controller with my phone
Anyone know of a way to get it working?
I noticed that I was able to connect to other phones using bluetooth after EB01, maybe it'll work with a controller too.
no, HID doesn't work yet. Regular android doesn't support it, but CM6 and CM7 do, so once kaos gets his builds working with bluetooth, we'll finally have or HID support.
wrong forum btw
my droid x would pair with a wii remote stock
I had a thought, the Galaxy Tab has Bluetooth HID support on it. Can that be ported to our Fascinate?
Bump for great justice, anyone with a clue feel like looking into this?
There's not much to do beside wait for punkkaos unless you want to help him port CM7. I've been wanting this too, so maybe if I ever get some time I might play around with the cyanogenmod source. But I have no experience writing operating systems so don't expect anything from me.
I have successfully paired and used my wiimote with my fascinate on jt's aosp using the WiiMoteController app in the market eventhough the post says bluetooth is borked. So idk what's up with that.

paired but does it connect?
I've paired my BT HID keyboard with most ROMS I've tried, but i have never connected, and never been able to use it yet. Punk Kaos is the only one i know who is working on a solution.
I will have to try pairing my wii remote than, I'll let you know results.
Update : Didn't work on JT's Superclean EB01.
I have a Wiimote working on jamezelle's MIUI, so I guess that means it works.

Oh nice! I didn't realize wiimote works on AOSP but I guess the main thing that's broken for that is bluetooth headsets? Now I need to find my bluetooth keyboard and maybe get another wiimote just for gaming. Kind of glad the bluetooth game gripper flopped, I can just get another wiimote although the PS3 controller would imo be better for emulators.
I didn't think of that, I'm going to look for an app for it

For me it won't even turn on bluetooth on vanilla aosp 0.8.1. Did you just enable it in settings?
@newtype: superclean is not an aosp rom so it still has Samsung's bluetooth stack, meaning it won't work.
i have the apple wireless keyboard working on jamzelle's MIUI v4 rom!

[Q] Sixaxis Controller with TV out

Hi there.
This is my situation, I want to find a rom that has the generic bluetooth stack (like CM7 or Oxygen) so that I can pair my PS3 controller to my phone. In the same breath I want to stream my phone to my TV (using micro USB to MHL) so that I can play my SNES emulator on my TV.
At the moment I can find a few roms with the right bluetooth stack but none of them have tv out working.
Anyone else having any luck?

Have you tried it yourself? Criskelo is based on stock and has no mention of changes to the bluetooth stack. In other words, that won't help.
In answer to the OP, there is currently no way for you to achieve what you want. You can only have one or the other.
AOSP based rom for bluetooth (i.e. sixasis), stock based rom for TV-out.
there are none afaik.
For a dirty work around you could try CM7 with this app
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/mymobiler-for-android-presenting-android-screencast/
It should get you running on a pc monitor at least
Until CM7 gets tv out i think your outta luck sorry, this would be an awsome feature tho
Well at my my assumptions have now been confirmed and I'll be able to stop scouring the internet for a solution. Guess I'll just have to wait till CM7 gets it running.
Thanks for putting my mind to ease... at least for a little while.
Hi guys,
It's time for a new update...
Just checked the new version of "Sixaxis Controller". The SGS2 is now supported!
So now it works with a stock based ROM + TV Out! I tried it on a Criskelo ROM with the Siyah Kernel. It works fine!
To pair the controller with the SGS2, just follow the instructions listed here:
dancingpixelstudios. com/sixaxiscontroller/instructions.html
To activate the buttons of the Dualshock in FPse you should first disable the touchscreen buttons and set new hardware buttons. F.e. press "Start" hardware button while the optional field is on "DOWN", then press down (by the steering cross or the analog stick) the proceeding with the other buttons is the same..
here i've done a short video to proof the stuff.

[Q] sgs2 wiimote and mhl both working (on one rom)?

Hi All,
I searched for info on this and found a few old threads but the last replies were in August, and the threads only addressed half the issue, so I thought I would post a new thread.
The Problem: AOSP roms can connect to the wiimote no problem but they do not support MHL out. Samsung based roms support MHL out but cannot connect to a wiimote.
I would love to be able to use my sgs2 as a portable emulator setup
Is anyone working on any kind of solultion to this?
Will AOSP roms be able to output to hdmi at some point or is there a licensing issue i dont know about?
Does anyone know a workaround to get the wiimote to connect to a stock rom (by replacing the bluetooth stack or something)?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Was also wondering this same thing. I have also tried to find out if ICS will be pushed out to our phone anythime soon as this is rumored to fix this also.

The simple solution is ditch the wiimote and use a PS3 controller instead as https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller works on stock Samsung ROMs.

Which Rom has full bluetooth HID support?

Been putting off installing a custom Rom on the SGS2 (UK) because it's been working fine for what I need, but now I'd like to use it as a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on my Windows PC (without the need for a server app).
I've read about an app called Bluputdroid which will connect to a PC via bluetooth and be recognized as a HID keyboard and mouse but requires a coustom Rom with a specific bluetooth stack.
Which Rom should I try?
Thank you
only way i know to get around it is to use an AOSP rom, like cm7/cm9 or MIUI, i did the same thing to get my playstation sixaxis working hope this helps

As coffmad said, any AOSP ROM should work for what you're looking for, as they will utilize the generic Android bluetooth stack, instead of Samsung's.
That said, I know you said you don't want to install a server app, but have you considered looking at GMote? It works over wi-fi. There's a very thin app you install on the computer, and your phone connects to it over your network. This is what I use to utilize my phone as a remote for my computer.

FYI, SixAxis works on Samsung based ROMs, and has for quite some time. I think since October or so. I've got it working just fine, and I'm on stock XXKI3.
