Waterproof cases...? - HTC EVO 3D

Do they exist.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

I think the Kraken is water resistant. Ballistic is working on a water proof one, but who knows when that will be ready.

There are some waterproof cases, they have the ziplock at the top and are like dive bags.
The Convert by Sedio , and the forthcoming Ballistic HC will be water resistant, but not waterproof.

Thanks guys, I'm just trying to prep for something I can take snowboarding and not have to worry about snow melting into. I'll take a look at these cases.

I can recommend the http://www.aquapac.net/usastore/water-electronics-mini-871-0.html.
I've been using Aquapac's for nearly a decade and have never had any problems.
Actually an old case bought for an iPaq with a Navman sleeve fits perfectly for my Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The one i'm using for my Evo 3D is 3-4 years old but looks identical to the one in the link.

I cant believe I didnt mention the Otterbox defender.
one of the firemen in my area, actually dropped his phone in a snow bank, found it after a 2 hour search, and it was completely unharmed.

Snowboarding? I'd be afraid I'd break the phone, but I suggest a good Ziploc bag also, maybe two just to be safe.

The defender isn't water resistant, I have one. There are a lot of openings in it. The speaker, camera LEDs, earpiece and microphone have nothing over them at all.

This looks great, maybe I can use this in conjunction with a protective case on my phone and have 0 worries about taking my phone with me on the mountain.

Thanks I wonder if you can use the tpu case instead of the one that comes with it because the tpu protects the camera..?
I personally think that it looks like garbage from the front. Now the rear of the case looks ok, and the way the holster turns into a kickstand is a cool concept. The way the front just clips on looks tacky in my opinion though...

Hey guys check the link on my signature.
This is a stand that will fit any phone, with the case or without it.
It has multiple viewing angles, and you can rotate it to set the phone on any of its four sides.
You avoid blocking any ports with the rotation.
It is removable or you can keep it on the phone. It is also very small that u can bring it with you anywhere.

I wish it attached with a suction cup or something removable so it isn't stuck on there all the time.... Looks kinda cool though

Looks very similar to a case/holster combo I had for my BB Storm (god I hated that phone) . The case part just pops on the phone and it slides into the holster . Was a good combo back in the day took alot of beating and never broke or gave out .

The clip anchors for "kick standing"/kick stand broke in less than 2 weeks after I got it. Company did send replacement (with another case included!). The plastic clip that goes on your hip and kick stands with the metal clip thingy snapped in half after 6 days of use. Didn't bother to RMA again. The cases themselves are thin and are pretty solid, though. Going for Seido's thin case/kickstand product. Wish they had it in red, though!

[Q] otterbox commuter or defender?

I have done my research on both the products, but one thing i didnt notice mentioned alot is if you drop the phone a lot. I tend to get bumped into a lot while holding my phone in my hand and i always end up with a spider cracked screen. happened on my palm pre, and evo shift a couple of times. but when i get this phone i want to get a good case but not mega bulky. if i was to have the commuter and i dropped it, would it be ok still or would the defender be a better choice?
but i heard the commuter has a crappy silicon part on the top, is that something to worry about?
plus i never usually buy cases for phones so this will be the first time buying a case for a phone.
sry for another otterbox post.
Ive had both. I broke two commuters before moving to a defender. Dropped, kicked, and thrown and not single scratch. Highly recommend
Sent from my Motorola Electrify using Tapatalk
I have a Commuter that I'm happy with, but I'm not prone to dropping.
The Commuter is a 'nicer' case that provides protection against average manhandling while the Defender is an indestructible brick and better for high-risk users.
ok thank you guys, that helps I did hear that a skydiver had the defender one day and drop it at he jumped out of the plain (not on purpous, was an accident), but when he landed he went to find his phone thanks to gps finder on it, landed on in a grassy patch only thing happened was spider cracked the screen but he could still make calls with it. i was impressed by the story i almost dont believe it lol.

Tried at fitting of the defender with Photon at Radio shack. OMG, that thing was a tank, thought i warped back to the 80's cell era.
I am in the construction field but still couldn't stoop to that big of a case although defender is protective and looks like it would do its job well.
I had the defender but bought dock for at work. Since i couldn't use it with the case i put on a zagg invisible shield and am loving it.

I love the commuter, I work at a desk all day long so its safe in a corner for most of the day, also bought a cheap window mount and cut the protruding bit of the smaller support arm off so i can keep it in its case when pop it in the window mount, works so well i drive a crappy old truck with NO shocks left and it has yet to pop out of the mount.

Thin case with kick stand

Hey guys
Has anyone come up with a thin case with a kick stand. I see allot of them availible for Verizon phones and the iPhone but nothing for our phone or any sprint phone.
Something like this .....
Yes know the camera might be in the way partially but i think it can still be done

This is also the seido (sp) case just rebranded. It looks sharp but the kickstand is actually pretty crappy. It feels solid at first but few months of use, it gets too worn out to support any weight. I'm kind of disappointed. Loved it at first though.

I have been rocking the Seidio hev3d
I have had the Seidio hev3d for about 8 months and it is a great case. Cheap sturdy case and is easy to put on and take off if battery pull is necessary.

I also have that case and been having it for about a year but i droped it once and case craked. It did serve it perpise of not damege my phone but 3 months later itcracked from the power side so now the case its a bit loose on top i am still thinking of bying this case again but i would like it cheper than 30.00 dollars witch i paid at amazon.
Seidio hev3d was what I went with in the end after a long look. Others look tacky and cheap. This isn't the thinnest but definitely the best.
If I do drop my phone, something I have never done and we are going back 12 years or so ! I know that this should keep it in one piece.

The Otterbox Defender for the OG had it's own plastic kickstand that covered the phone's kickstand.
I am surprised too that the LTE's defender case uses the phone's kickstand.
I would have liked to have seen a rubber cover, similar to the port covers, over the top of the kickstand.
Monnie
Sorry it took a while for me to post these pics but here they are
here is a better quality
Thanks for the pictures!
How does the phone feel with the case on it? It looks bulky as hell. XD
looks huge. all these cases are friggin huge, how can they fit in your pocket comfortably.
yeah it does but I need it because I do have the habbit of dropping my phone alot
its bulky just waiting for the commuter to release might want to get that as well
I batter my phones a lot being a firefighter. They go in pockets with a ton of stuff in them. I always get the defender in case if I drop it from the aerial when doing events or something (which I have done and I do believe the case has saved my phone) plus it comes with the belt holster that doesn't come with any other OB case.
The rubber is new and better imo its not the lint sucking rubber from defenders past the port covers work better also

They didn't have the Otterbox when I picked up my phone yesterday.
I went to the same Best Buy today with my Buddy to pick up his and they had them in stock.
Got them to give it to me for $40.
I like the bulk it adds.
The phone felt so Fragile to me and now it feels like a tank!
The only downfall the Kickstand is hard to access.

Anyone have any water proof suggestions?

I'm gonna be heading to the beach a lot this summer and I dont wanna put this phone somewhere on shore. I wanna keep it with me at all times. Anyone have something to protect against water?
I would avoid the beach at all costs. Between water and sand it's just a deadly combination for a cell phone.

+1 ... NASA invented the Space Pen. The Russians just used a pencil. (not completely true, but you get my point)
I just went out on my seadoo rxp this past weekend with evo in tote. Went out in long beach harbor california. Was gonna settle on otterbox small case for 20 bucks but stumbled on a waterproof case down at Walmart for 6. It held registration, wallet, keys, and of course the EVO. Stayed dry all day even through my extreme play.

The exposed surfaces of the phone become what is called hydro phobic (literally "scared of water" but really just repels water). Like how water beads on a waxed car. However, so repelling of water that water can't get through cracks less than about a millimeter or so at close to surface pressures. Your phone has no holes that large but mic jack and USB, and while water goes into the big holes, it can't get past the smaller cracks inside them to get to circuitry.
That's the theory anyway. I'm still not going to try. I just stick my phone in zip lock bag whenever it might be exposed to water, like around the pool or in my sweaty pocket while mowing. Screen still works great, just follow usual precautions about sharp objects near phone (no keys in pocket).

I've used ziplock baggies fly fishing in waders and canoeing a handful of times. Works great for me, except not perfect for taking pictures... Touchscreen works fine through the bag...
