Can someone please post or point me in the direction of a working youtube.apk that supports HD on the Nook color. I've tried three versions, two didn't work and one was shrunken screen. THanks
hello, I have the same problem. You tube works in hd but at a reduced screen size.
Almost like the apk was written for a phone.probably.
First post! Woooot!!
Gingerbread version of Youtube worked for me.
this is the version from here, and it worked for me:

I haven't had any trouble playing videos... Ensure that the videos you are trying to play are formatted/available for mobile, some aren't. But, that's probably not the issue. Some people have been having issues with YouTube not working when signed in, but usually the entire app doesn't work.
If all else fails, you can always use the Erase option in the menu, then re-root and try again. I've done that like 30 times now.

I have performed all rooting procedures and everything is working perfectly except YouTube. I click the app and it just goes straight to the homescreen. I tried removing the youtube app and reinstalling it and it still does the same thing.
Any ideas to fix this?

I am getting the same issue. Everything else works..except YouTube. I tried re-rooting but that does not work either. Any way clear data on the youtube apk? Is there an intent to get to the applications settings?

I posted this in another thread, but:
You do not need to uninstall YouTube. It is crashing because it is still linked to your gmail account, as a hack to get all of the other Google apps working. If you disassociate YouTube from your gmail account, YouTube will once again work!
From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button
Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.

I found a way around it. I knew it would work and it did.
Download ES File Explorer from the Android Market.
Open the ES File Explorer
Access the App Manager by clicking Manager from its Menu options.
Hold on the YouTube app from the list of apps for a few seconds and click the Details option.
Voila! This should get you into the Application Info for the app.
Clear data, clear cache, Force stop and you will be good to go!
Thanks for this solution it fixed my youtube closing issue

Once it's working again, don't sign in the next time you use youTube or sign out before quitting YouTube. If you remain signed in, the same thing will happen again next time you try to start YouTube.

Hi, I use the facebook app and when clicking on a youtube video I used to ask me to either open it via youtube app or internet, but now it does not ask anymore and just opens the videos via internet. Where can I go to have it ask again, and choose youtube?
home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications
find internet and tap it
tap clear defaults

Thanks, tried that , however the button is grayed out, looks like its not set for any default. Dont know why I would get the prompt to choose which way to view the video in the past.
exactly the same prob on my phone. but i think its something to do with the facebook app after it was updated. coz i have the same prob on my x10 also.
On gingerbread I was able to click Youtube links from any application and launch them using the youtube app. I was prompted once to do so and every time thereafter the app would launch.
Now on ICS, i never once got the prompt to chose internet or youtube app, it just launched every youtube link using the browser which i detest.
Does anyone know what option/default i have to clear to get my app back as the default for links?
I tried clearing defaults for the browser and any apps that i usually click youtube links in to no avail.
Thanks for any info...
It has to do with crapple and its patent suit. The app associations is the work around that HTC has come up with. Presently there is no way around this. It sucks, we know. Blame crapple.
Oh wtf... Lame

Hi,
for some reason I can not open youtube links with my youtube app anymore. It used to be like I was able to choose whether I would like to open the link with my brother or with youtube. Now for some reason I can only choose between Android Browser and Opera. Youtube option is gone. I have googled this problem and found a couple of people having the same issues but no solution. Can anyone of you help?
Things I tried:
erase Data from Browser, Opera, youtube, facebook. --> no changes.
None of the apps is running as standard app.

I had some problems with the Youtube app recently, it just said "an error occured" and in the logcat it mentioned something about not being able to authorize my account with google services. Turned out the latest version of the app is just crappy. Downgrading back to 4.1.47 fixed all issues for me.
I'm having trouble playing videos on Facebook. Videos start but after some seconds they stop and give an error "could not play the video" I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it but it didn't work. Anyone having similar issues?

Solution for the Facebook video issue :
I downgraded my Facebook by uninstalling the current version and installing an older version. The version I have chosen is version 5 which allows me to choose in which app I can play the video on and gives me the possibility of downloading it as well
It looks old, I lost the function of adding a picture into the comments (can do it on PC anyhow) otherwise I am happy with this version
Here you can get it, (you can try newer versions for the video error issue) as I was looking for the version that allows me to download videos:

One solution I have read is to go to settings, apps then scroll to the all menu. Then scroll down to the bottom and disable xperia for Facebook.

I have the same problem but I can't find that setting, I am on .314.
I mean there is no "xperia for Facebook".
I found disabling that apo only made the videos work for a couple of days before they broke again
