[Q] accidental factory reset - HTC EVO 3D

I was in the bootloader and clicked factory reset and I quickly took the battery out to stop it. Would that screw anything up on the phone?

You're probably ok, but pulling the battery during an operation like that isn't the brightest idea. It's like you're trying to get your phone bricked. Resetting your phone isn't as bad as the alternative. Doesn't it ask you if you're sure before it resets?

I also agree. Also i do think that it verified by reset

It didn't ask I was in the bootloader not the recovery.

Jw should I just do the reset and then install my stuff back?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App

Just try and boot up if all is good take it as a lesson learned. If not then just do a full data wipe and then a nand restore.

Hard reset with no display?

I cut a ribbon cable trying to replace the screen in my girlfriends Dinc. Now the repairs cost more than I want to spend so i'm going to sell it as broken on Ebay.
Question is, is there a way to wipe everything/hard reset it without the display working? When I power it on it does that short vibrate so I know it's still working. Just can't see anything.

If you have rooted and adb configured, you can try: adb shell wipe data.
Never had it rooted

You could try flashing the stock rom (using RUU).

It takes 2 to 3 second sometimes to open an application or even go to the phone dialer. Facebook takes forever to open. Etc. I have turned the phone off pulled the battery fully charge it and still the same problem. Even on wifi opening applications. This happens. But the data is fine on wifi very fast. I wanted to try and avoid doing this though.. Wish I can figure it out.

Start with the obvious... Check what's running in the settings menu... Anything unusual chewing up battery time?
Recently installed apps?
I has this issue after flashing back to stock and a factory reset made all ok.

Bro - the factory reset is ur friend if done right. And the only really important thing is to just backup ur personal data.
Esp if ur running stock, a factory reset will do the trick.
If u want the longer route, download some tools (tibu, setcpu, es fm/tm...) and try and diagnose where the bottleneck is coming from.

Powersaver mode will also cause it to lagg real bad. I only use power saver when I am out or worried about juice, but now I carry a spare battery and never use it.

Phone getting really hot on ICS

Anybody has this happening to them? Ever since updating to stock ICS phone will be fine until the battery changes from green. Once that happens phone gets extremely hot. Would like to trouble shoot the device but it's one of my lines which I don't have access to so often. So far I've seen that the power saving options are gone so there's no setting that could be kicking in once battery gets to a certain level.. If anyone has any feedback about this please share. Thanks

A buddy of mine who is not rooted had the same problem. He said Sprint suggested a soft reset, which didn't work, and then a hard reset, which fixed it. You lose all your data, but he says it stopped the overheating.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately a hard reset is out of the question for now. She don't want to lose her things and phones not rooted to back up.

Either a hard reset or her battery life becomes much shorter so she can't use at all later

[Q] hard bricked or what? help plz! :'(

Hi!
I have the samsung galaxy note i717, a few days ago the phone shutted down by itself while i wasn't ussing it, it read online that it was too much apps. i did the soft and hard reset and i had the same issue, so i read the next step was a factory reset. so i did it, and wipe the cache. after that, the phone started to reboot/restart by itself while i wasn't using it or wasn't charging... i did the factory reset, reboot it and even reinstalled it the firmware again on kias, but, the problem keep happening. today i left it charging for a long time and the phone won't turn on, it doesn't even show the battery logo, no download mode, no safe mode, no reset mode... and i think it is hard bricked. i read about jtag, changing the motherboard, or use a jig... i want to know what u guys think about this... i bought it on ebay and i would have to return the phone otherwise, so i'm trying to fix it by myself...
ty :fingers-crossed:

I've kinda seen comments that jtaggn is like pretty efficient but you would have to do alot and jign plug tht thing and c if it will wake it up. Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't depends.how bricked the note is i guess a more direct app is jtaggn

I've read a few posts where some users have issues with the power button sticking..
Try different USB ports on your PC if you can access download mode your still good.

JTAG is for a phone with the rom from another phone flashed to it. You can't enter recovery and Odin doesn't recognize it. It is the only way to bypass the boot and flash the correct rom.
Jig is for phones that won't go into recovery by software or buttons.
I think you have a battery issue. Trade with someone, then you will probably need the jig ($3.00 from ebay) to get into recovery.
well guys thanks a lot! but, i took it somewhere and the dude changed the battery nothing hapened and he told me i should just return it and i did. i loved that cellphone!

giving phone to a child

I have givten my phone to a friend that I know and she is a chrisian and I watch alot of porn on my phone. anyways I did a factory reset in the settings and it did it thing I still noticed stuff still on the internal sd card. I then went into custom recovery and cleared cache and did a factory reset there. booted phone up and everything is off the sd card. I don;t want them to type something in the browser and my porn sites come popping up in the auto fill part when searching for websites.
was there anything more I could have done.
Maybe not watching as much porn would've been a good start

You can reflash the ROM, which would wipe everything out. You can wipe your internal storage via recovery, also. In addition, if the phone has a Sense ROM installed you can dial ##786#, go to the menu and choose reset, which will wipe the phone clean.

yeah I know but im addicted cant help it.
Dude what were you thinking not going into incognito mode.
Go into TWRP recovery and wipe everything you possibly can from there, and just flash any rom you want
Haha, good thread. Remember to clear or disable your google web history (in the google search app, settings -> accounts & privacy), it will sync across roms.

As long as they're not using your Google account, the search history suggestions shouldn't popup. Wipe data factory reset should remove your Google acct. Good luck with the pron. I understand lol.

Fckin
You should probably just reflash the Rom just to be safe lol

Hopefully your friend doesn't come across it because then they might not be your friend anymore. Addiction is not a good thing no matter what it may be. Hopefully you can break your addiction before its too late.

Lfmao, made my day.
I'm a Christian, and a porn addict.
By the way, how did you clean the phone? (no, I am not talking about twrp or cwm)
Thank goodness for people with a sense of humor. I guess its topics like these that really show you who you could have a conversation with outside of these XDA walls lol
