[Q] Boost Signal??? - Motorola Droid X2

Hi everyone I just a bought a Droid X2 and flashed it to cricket, I also rooted the phone and its currently running gingerbread 2.3.3. The signal before rooting it was almost ull signal strenght and after rooting it I only have 1 and sometimes nothing. Is there any rom that improves signal. I heard of dj05 but its very old. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Do a *228 option 1, then *228, option 2. The only dj05 I know of was for the fascinate though.

Should I ditch my x2?

So I can bring it back to the store and get a play or the thunderbolt. Should I?

If i may ask, Why not?
I would say no. The only thing pulling me into getting the thunderbolt is the unlocked bootloader. I miss flashing a new rom almost every night on my d1.
Im sure with the recently released sbf, there will be a nice choice of rims available. Its just taking some time

With as laggy and bogged down as the phone is OOTB, it's one of the top performers on raw power. Once the bootloader is unlocked, the phone with a custom rom is going to be a monster. Also, when it is unlocked, you'd be kicking yourself nightly due to the many roms that will no doubt be released.
I would get a charge!

I've decided to keep it, the t2 better be good in the long run.

Charge was one of the worst phones that I have used. Even w/ custom ROM etc... SLOWWWWWWWWWWW. But I loved the display, super amoled + = winning. To each their own though, one might like a phone , while another hates it.
I had the droid x2 the display was gorgeous volume supreme but I had three of them give me constant reboots it was annoying and I needed a functional phone.so I want with the thunder bolt done ways I regret it some ways I don't, but I'm happy with my decision

I know this is a little off topic, but can you surf data and be on a phone call at the same time with the DX2? The Charge can only do it on 4G and WiFi. Thanks.
No, its a limitation of 3g cdma

Makes me miss my SGS. And the Super AMOLED. That black was extremely nice. But, so far I'm happy with my x2. This mutha has an LED flash on the back! WTF?! lol, something T-mobile has NEVER DONE, and will not do for whatever reason. Besides, their service sucks once you leave the big cities.
The thunderbolt can on 3G. All 4G devices should unless you make the settings CDMA only.

Nope, no 3g phone can do that at the present time.
First post here. I have talked and surfed at the same time on the droid x2. After reading the post that it cannot be done tried it again and it worked.
Nevermind just realized It was using WIFI for data. After turning WIFI off cannot talk and surf.

Actually, yes you can. Just verified for sure. While on the phone, hit home, you can then browse to your hearts content while ignoring the person you have on the phone. Any phone that can connect to a wireless network (not associated with cellular networks), you should be able to surf and talk regardless of the cellular provider.

Bad radios on razr or normal?

My razr has problems in the signal department. It will take forever to switch to 4g or wont switch at all in well known 4g areas. Also the hotspot won't connect to anything.. Furthermore, my speed test results are not normal. I get about a 400+ ping and very bad downlink and uplink on 4g. Where i get, 45 ping and 32mbps down & 11mbps up on a rezound right next to it... So bad phone? bad radios? Or common with the razr?
Sorry for typos.

Sounds like you need to update the Radio, mine was having 3G and Wireless issues as well until I updated it. However the Hotspot seems to have gotten worse, it has problems establishing a connection, and when it actually does connect, the internet fails to work.
I'm hoping ICS comes with a new Radio and resolves these issues.
Well i guess i have a bad razr, since no one else chimed in..

Just to rule out any software issues, I would do a complete factory reset & then flash the .744 fxz file & take the ota to .748. See if that changes any of the problems. If you notice any improvement, flash the .173 leak because it comes with the latest radio & see if that fixes things. What have you got to lose?

My razr does not have the issues you mention. Most of the time I get great 4g. The only problems I find are switching between 3g and 4g is sometimes a little squirrelly.

Definitely try the 6.12.173 leak. It fixes a lot of radio issues, especially 3G/4G transition

The radio/signal on my razr is the best ive ever owned on any device.

Tried the methods above and even tried the moto app on the market. Same results . :-(

The leaked update for 6.12 fixed a lot of the data connectivity issues. Update it and that should fix it.

That's really odd... My 3g always drops when I'm in the middle of a call but I can still carry on the conversation
Come over to the dark side...
Hey bud, yea I thought it was weird as well. I can literally put the phone down press send and watch the 3g disappear?

Not while I'm talking but once the call ends yes instantly back to 3g.

I think that's normal because with every phone I've had that always happened. As long as it's not dropping your calls you should be good.
When life sucks I just enjoy the head
Yeah I'm running stock 2.3.4 just rooted and 3g drops everytime

No 4g radio on my RAZR.

Hey all,
So I am on vacation at Virginia beach and I notice that my 4g doesn't kick in. I went to "about phone" and it doesn't even say anything about lte in my base band, just cdma. I am on. 181 ota, rooted and never flashed any other roms before , just rooted. What's best way get my 4g here at the beach? Thanks!

ive had the same problem in the past, but it was from fastbooting back to stock after flashing the leak, in which case the 4g radio didnt flash, but if you have never done that, are you sure that the location your in has 4g service?

Yes, I called Verizon to make sure. Also spoke with a lot of people that say their 4g is fine. Shouldn't my baseband have lte or something in it to denote a 4g radio?

Force a reboot by holding vol up and down and power button until it reboots. This usually does it for me.
Moved to proper forum,
try a Profile Update, usually works for me. Or toggle airplane mode

ICS Radio Vs GB Radio

Hi Guys I just got the OTA this moring for ICS and ive noticed that reception is not very good. With GB It was amazing for me. And im not talking BARS im talking about TRUE signal. Sometimes I have no data, and no 3G, Or signal Period in spots where I had with GB.
Can I go back to the GB radio and use it on ICS? If so can someone tell me where I can get the radio and flash it?
Thanks!
My radios are still the same. Strong as ever. Wi-Fi range is great too.

Mine signal went to crap too. At work I get 5 bars on GB and now I get only 2 on ICS. That's wack
Droid RAZR Maxx
One thing they DID do when developing ICS was to make the signal meter more accurate. Apparently, it was reading too high before because of the algorithm used. I don't have the link handy, but it was discussed here recently.
And, in the case of MANY updates like this... sometimes a therapeutic hard reset is needed to shake off any residual file issues from the old OS. My tablet needed that when it got it's ICS update.
My lte and phone signal has been great today! I was having issues with my data dropping consistently on .211. Then again right now I'm in arkansas instead of dallas so there's probably far fewer people on the lte towers here. We'll see tomorrow night when I get home.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Im not talking about how the bars read. My actual SIGNAL is worse. I cant get ANY signal in spots where I had FULL signal before.
Anyone have the GB radio?
There was an article published from google on this. ICS reports the signal differently. It reports it more accurately. Your signal is the same. If you THINK it's different it is strictly placebo effect.
