Hi All,
I have (at long last) managed to do a black taskbar, with a coloured battery (With percentage) and coloured icons (V3). The carrier and other text is white.
Respect to Quikt for his modified services.jar & Tina333 for all her theme work!
This theme works on DJSTeve's latest 1.5.0 ROM & Also 1.6.0
NOTE it will take a few minutes to load so it will hang on the boot animation for a few minutes - just be patient!!!
As normal copy the zip file to your SD root. Run Recovery (I use mistadman, because it's brilliant), etc, etc
What's the best app for a screen shot?
BFN

Wow.works great for steve's latest 1.5.0. and it looks great.
Thanks mate!

If anyone is wondering or debating these, they are VERY nice. Lively icons with colors that change depending on status. Very, very nice. And I have tried quite a few theme/task bar mods.
Great job!

I want to try this but it took me awhile to upgrade my US att 1.6 to steve1.5. I am still iffy with the command prompt thing and not sure when to run what.
If I drop this in the root of my SD can I just hold the volumes and power buttons and tell it to install from zip or do I have to do some command line in fastboot first?
If not mistaken I just boot up using volume keys tell it to install pkg from sd card and then clockwork boots and allows me to install zip?
does my phone reset or is everything else retained?
Thanks.
Hey Ody,
If you could drop these changes into a framework for Steve's 1.5.1 so we can have a version for it, I'd really appreciate it!
Steve's changed the animations in 1.5.1, and he's saying that could present a problem with the status bars, themes, etc.
Anyway, I love this bar, and would definitely want to put it on 1.5.1 when I go to it. In fact, I might just wait a little bit to see if you update this before making the jump.
Call me crazy to wait on a whole ROM for a status bar, but I'm a sucker for a black bar, and I think this one's the best.
Thanks!
I installed it over 1.5.1 and everything booted fine. I lost the animations, which I didnt like anyway.

Ahh good call there. I thought that might be what would happen, but I have had these things result in bigger consequences before. Wasn't willing to experiment this time.
Anyway, I just flashed it too with the same result. I didn't hate the animations, but I tend to prefer snappy to flashy when it comes to performance, so I don’t think I will miss them either.
Plus, I have my favorite black bar back!

If you find you really miss the animations, you can also take the framework from this taskbar, run through the UOT kitchen, changing nothing except for adding which ever animation you want, then cook it up. Just tried it with the flying animation and it worked.
can you do that and post the zip?

uhhhh, dumb face here.
I currently dont have enough posts to post a link to the one I made. But if you want to make you own, its not that hard. Just go into system/framework folder using root explorer, make a copy of the framework-res.apk file, and paste the copy into you sd card. From there transfer the file to your computer. Then go to the UOT kitchen website. Just select theme only, click and keep selecting the "dont include" option until you reach the animation section where you pick the one you want. Fom there you click onto the next page where you will upload your framework to the website, click next and the cooking will begin. After it is done, transfer the zip file created back to you sd card and go into clockwork. First you clear you davlik cache then run the zip, reboot (which will take a little longer than normal) and you will have this theme with the animation of your choosing.
Just applied this on 1.5.1 for the first time, very impressed, thanks

Ps suggestion for future theme, maybe do a nice menu screen rather than the drab grey one?

Is there any way to get rid of this useless and space consuming carrier string in the upper left of the notification bar?
I'd like to be able to change the carrier string if possible: just something custom
Streaking with the XDA app!
Works like charm on 1.5.1, also remove new animations which i feel annoyed in the new rom
Ok guys this is a idea i had awhile back.... im not really a aosp guy most of you know that but, i figured if we were going to get a stable build that is sized right and a good chance of getting data to work fairly easy it would be a port from Samsung google Nexus.... now ive only put a couple hours into it so its not that great at the moment but ill get it as stable as possible with time... this thread is meant for testing, feedback, and for anyone who wants to add to the build fixes and so forth.. everyone is adults here and i know we can work together well...
that being said this is a port from a rom romanbb built for nexus called "AOKP" i have alot of respect for him as a developer and that is the main reason i chose his rom to port... so big thanks to him!!!
now to buisness like i said before not alot of time put into this yet all i did was booted it and play around awhile... rom is stable meaning "no reboots" needs alot of tlc
what works:
it boots
all hardware buttons
touchscreen
Note:as of now you have to use the built in touchscreen mouse to navigate thru the rom... i tried to turn it off but i am new to ics and aosp and i couldnt find a option to do so... if anyone knows pleasedo tell... just tap the mouse circle drag it to what you want to use say app drawer then tap it and the app drawer will open... i should have a solution for this once i have more time tomorrow after work...
what dont work:
data (not for long)
camera (easy fix)
audio
sd card
wifi
phone (forces closed because it tries to turn on radio annoying but can be dealt with while you play with the rom)
probabaly alot more but limited on time to test today
Features added by Roman
built from AOSP -- using 4.0.3
power menu
ICS style toggles
superuser & busybox built from source, included
deodexed & unsecure boot.img (for adb remount)
Facebook contact sync
ROM Control application lets you take control of your ROM. Customize it how you want it.
Navigation Bar options & layouts (search bar layout, menu visibility options, etc) -- long press search button enabled
IME Switcher toggle (show/hide notification when you type)
Customize your carrier label
Override lockscreen timeout (ie, use Android's timeout when turning the phone off, so it won't lock itself)
LED pulse timing options
Statusbar toggle options
much much more in there
1% battery mod built in (check ROM Control) -- two styles, center and off center
Unique Power Saver functionality
Turn data off while your screen is off (GSM phones can switch to 2G)
manually sync at a time interval for all your accounts (Gmail, etc)
Check out all the options in ROM Control
see more features and screenshots here
again guys WIP if you want to donate send it romans way im doing this rom for fun till we get a good leak.... which maybe soon
Instructions
download rom place on sd
Flash rom in recovery

please if you are not confident you know how to get back to your previous rom do not try this... for those of you who no how and want to play with ics a little Enjoy itll be the only aosp rom i ever build lol
reserved... wont be around tonight to answer questions guys have to work early so im going to bed...so please only flash if you are confident in your skill to get back to a stable rom... ill check in in the morning have fun
woot cannot wait for this gonna be a long night!
Over on the eris, we had to use a mouse pointer for touch screen until it was fixed...idk if itll help. But i know mongoosegelix and devs from the desire got touch screen working right
Nerdgasm!!!
Edit: Nope that wasn't it. Need to double tap and drag to scroll.
Very intersting seeing this for the first time.
More awesomeness! Dev section is getting good.
I can't believe I'm seeing this... So awesome.

I had to replace the .txt file in the kernel from the GB ROM i was reverting to with this .txt file in the PH98IMG.zip. If you don't do this there will be a main version error in the bootloader...worked for me.

you must also flash a gingerbread boot.img or PH98IMG.zip in hboot to be able to boot back up.
So, you would:
wipe /system in recovery
restore nand
boot to bootloader and either
A) fastboot flash boot *namehere*.img orB) flash a gingerbread PH98IMG.zipreboot
???
profit
Definitely can't wait to see this come together.

Soft key mod for CM9DX2
What this mod will do:
1. Enable on screen soft keys.
2. Disable button backlights.
While looking for a fix for this I stumbled on this app: Button Remapper
Unfortunately this app will not work on our device. I think that I can manually do remap them to work how the app works. But this would mean that everybody would use the buttons for the same thing. I was thinking of using them as media buttons as in menu=previous song home=play/pause back=next song.. let me know what you think.
If you want your hardkeys mapped a certain way just ask nicely! Maybe I can do it for you.
As always.. **Flash at your own risk**
Credits:
Evilisto for a great writeup on how to enable them.
Go thank mattmanwrx for helping me with the framework.apk
motcher41 for some help on the updater script.
Many people on xda for threads that I seached through.
Most of all.. DZK for giving us CM9!
How to flash:
Like any other mod.
1. Boot into recovery.
2. Make NANDROID backup!
3. Wipe dalvik/cache. (NO NEED TO WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET )
4. Flash zip.
5. Reboot.
CM10
Alpha 3
CM9
Beta 1 softkeys
Beta 1 disable
MIUI 2.8.10
2.8.10 enable
2.8.10 disable
By going to:
Settings >
System >
Navigation bar >
You can edit and add or remove features of navigation bar. Thanks again dark_system for pointing this out.
Hardkey remap (these will work for all versions even though they are labeled for alpha 4)
Flash this after softkey mod if you want your hardkeys to be media buttons:
Menu= Previous song
Home= Play/pause
Back button= Next song
Please note:These will work while screen is OFF, so if you have issues with hitting the buttons while your phone is in your pocket I do not suggest flashing. I did it this way because I play music off of my phone a LOT and I do not want to wake it every time I wanted to go to the next song.
This zip will do the same as above, but will also use the search key as a camera button like the one on a droid x for example.
This one is made for gamers. It will turn your hard keys into dpad keys.
Menu= Dpad left
Home= Dpad up
Back= Dpad down
Search= Dpad right
And here is the zip for the stock hardkeys so you can try out both the mod and hardkey zips and flash back to stock easily.
The mods here will come from the thread in jsgraphicart's post in this post. Just to be clear, this is not my work, it is work of the developers who make the originals in that thread.
I am not going to make a zip for every one of the mods, but if a couple people request it I can get one made.
Newest MIUI softkeys come with the robotov2 style.
I have made a zip for CM9 Beta one and ParanoidAndroid using the ics blue reflection. (Although the PA one looks funky, not sure about the others yet)
CM9 Beta 1- Will only work if you already have the softkey mod installed.
ParanoidAndroid
You can also do this yourself, it is not very hard.
1. Take one of the softkey mods for your rom.
2. Unzip the files and navigate to system/app/SystemUI.apk
3. Extract the SystemUI.apk files and navigate to res/drawable-hdpi
4. Unzip the mod with the softkey you would like and navigate to the folders with the softkey images.
5. Move the images from the you want into drawable-hdpi.
6. Rezip all contents of SystemUI.apk.(assets, meta-inf, androidmanifest, ect.) Make you have .apk on the end.
7. Place your new SystemUI.apk back in system/app and delete what was leftover.
8. Rezip the contents of the mod and sign using this tool.
9. Flash and enjoy.
Thanks glad someone is working on this, hope you can get it straightened out.

Yeah, I don't understand why that happens. I didn't touch anything other than change the nav bar value to true and add a few png files to system ui. Looks alright in landscape, it's hardly useable in portrait though. I'm trying to find a fix in the thread that I got the directions for this from and it seems like there are a lot of people that posted with the same problem but none posted a solution, at least that I could find.

If you did try to flash you could have just reflashed cm9 without wiping data.
Also, I'm glad you made a backup.. But the op does states that the zip was only tested on alpha 3.

Look forward to it. I can deal with that stuff I just hate my hard buttons
I love the soft buttons, and can't wait for them to be done for Alpha 4, but curious, is there any way for them to be located on the bottom at all times(Portrait or Landscape Mode)?
I don't think so, that's the way they were designed. I googled to see if there was any kind of mod out there that would do this and I couldn't find anything. It's probably possible, but I don't think anybody wants to put in that much time.

Hmm I haven't had any problems flashing back and forth. And you shouldn't have to sbf, recovery should still be installed, you should either have a nandroid backup or you can flash cm9 again with wiping only cache and dalvik.
Now which file were you trying to flash and which version of cm9 were you on? And what steps did you take.

I was flashing the latest alpha 4 mod file, and I am on cm9 alpha 4. I didn't sbf. just restored nandroid. I thought I was going to have to since it didn't go into recovery at first. But I pulled battery and then was able too.
I wiped the big three and then flashed the mod .zip through bsr.
Then it just stays at boot animation forever. I pulled battery and same thing. 3 times.

Also note that when you wipe the dalvik, it takes longer to boot since it has to build it again. How long did you wait before concluding it was stuck?
AOKP - Milestone 6 for the DX2/MX2
This is a port of the milestone 6 AOKP build available for the Atrix 4G (made by Th3Bill), using DzK's CM9 Alpha 5 as a base. From my testing on my MX2 it would appear that it is about as stable as DzK's CM9. There is a build for the MX2 that has DzK's wifi patch integrated and the kernel check removed, and there is a build for the DX2 that has the kernel check and no wifi patch. I take no credit for any of this, all I did was port it over and add a 1% Battery Mod (sort of)
What Works:
-Data/3G
-WiFi
-SMS/MMS***
-Camera*
-Phone/Email/Contacts/etc.
-Bluetooth
-Data Usage
-AOKP ROM Control
-1% Battery Mod**
-All that other important stuff
*Camcorder does not record video, it opens, it zooms, but it doesn't record.
**1% Battery Mod is on the status bar only, lockscreen will still show increments of 10%
***See the end
Issues:
-On first boot homescreen glitches out after set-up. Fixed by hitting okay to all of the “hints” that pop up, then changing the wallpaper.
-Rare random reboots.
-4G section in settings crashes the settings app since we don’t actually have 4G.
-Assumably any issues with CM9 Alpha 5 will still show up here.
-If you find anything else let me know.
Same rules that apply for flashing CM9 Alpha 5 apply here. So, you can flash over CM7/CM9 or Blur but always wipe /data and /cache, I recommend wiping /system as well. TiBU app restores for system apps are still a no go.

Download ICS GApps
Instructions:
1. Boot into recovery.
2. Nandroid.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Wipe Cache. Format System. Wipe Dalvik cache.
4. Flash ROM.
5. Flash GApps.
6. Wipe Dalvik cache and fix permissions.
7. Reboot.
8. If boot hangs on the big “M” do a battery pull and start it up again. It might take a few tries.
9. After a few minutes Set-up will load.
10. Follow the prompts until you get to the homescreen.
11. There will be three hints that pop up while your homescreen is glitching. Just tap the okay button on the first one, open your app drawer for the second, and tap okay again for the third.
12. Long-press on the homescreen and change your wallpaper to get it to stop glitching.
13. If you want any of the apps I removed back, download Removed-apps (NOT flashable).zip from the above zip and unarchive and push the apps you want to /system/app/ then set permissions to match the rest (0644 for those of you using chmod in terminal).
14. Enjoy.

Well, I am having issues with cell phone service now.
I noticed that the signal status was always grey instead of blue. I still had data though. I restarted the phone to see if it would connect to the network.
Then I had no service. I tried to dial out *228 but got a message saying I could not complete a call when in airplane mode. I went to settings and airplane mode was not on. I toggled it on, then off, but the phone stayed in airplane mode and I had to restart.
Also the battery indicator is not accurate for me. It stays on one percentage for awhile, then a drastic drop.
I will have to go back to Cm9 for now. Does anyone else have any issues with signal?
Brandon, can you at least do the Go SMS workaround?

I haven't noticed any problems with cell signal, it's currently at 1 bar for me, but I'm also sitting in my basement.
As for the battery indicator, I should probably have actually tested that a bit more thoroughly because I may be experiencing the same problem, but I'll wait for my battery meter to drop (I'm currently on a full charge) before I say more.

I'm just curious what type of boot speed people are getting from their roms.
See I used a CM7 based rom for a long while, and it got great (re)boot speed, but I switched to peetr_'s for more stability (specifically the camera)
However, (these are not exact) his rom seems to take around 2 minutes to boot, its a bit frustrating, though not hugely, I'm just curious if something is wrong with my setup or maybe the files.
Feel free to post your boot speeds for any other roms too, just in case anyone has this question later.

All roms I've used (all of the Rom available) have had a 10-20 second boot time after the first boot. Have you an mods on your setup?

What type of mods are we talking about? If its like the ics theme flashed to peetrs rom, then yes (just today I might add so it can have nothing to do with the speed) other than that, nope.

Each stock based rom booting time is related to the number of installed apps. There is a feature, that checks all apps for libraries and maybe something else. I haven't found, how to turn off this feature.
Thanks for that info peetr, that would make perfect sense (I used a flash with no additional apps for about a day, the difference was quite clear)

Mine takes about a minute to get to the lock screen then an additional 10-15sec for rest of OS/launcher to load fully. I have Planter's ICS theme on top of Peetr_s v20 rom along with the bravia engine, beats audio, and holo locker installed. I also have about 50-60 apps installed but am not quite sure which ones need to be loaded in any way during start up. The bone stock v20 rom was much quicker though.

One question off the topic. you have mentioned that u have holo locker also installed do you have the issue of getting two lockscreens (i.e after unlocking the holo locker the default locker shows up) ?
My boot time is 35 seconds. Couldn't be prouder. This is JB 4.1.2 with a ton of apps/games. It's not meant to be optimized. It's just good. The other phone is my wife's, unmodified Electrify. Boots in 1 minute 54 seconds. This is the superior performance Motorola says is better than ICS. Because 2 minute boot times are cool, haha. (Actually 2 minutes ain't bad, they never need to be rebooted... 35 seconds is just so much better.)

when i first boot my phone it doesnt show up unless i let it sit at the lock screen for about 10 seconds. i'd imagine that this happens because it is in fact an app that needs to load before it will override the stock lock screen. now on the other hand if i have a security pattern that i am using to unlock the phone, the security screen THEN the holo locker would show up everytime. i simply disable my security pattern unless i'm going out for the night or something.
