My phone has a spider web shape crack look on the screen. Phone is fully functional. Phone calls and data are fine too. I have no insurance. Any ideas on what I should do? I suppose I can get a free 3gs and use that until contract expires. Or pay $500 upfront for a new atrix too.

Just spend $40 on Ebay and get a new glass.
Get a replacemnt glass and fix yourself or get one used off craigslist.
I voided my warranty.

I've replaced my glass twice - it's pretty easy.
Here is the place I bought it from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180688922991
and there are videos on ebay that are very detailed on the process
If you decide you don't want to repair it, let me know how much you want for it.

Yes it's really easy. There's tons of tutorials (video and ifixit instructions) I'll admit that the ifixit instructions make it look scary, lol. I'd just follow the video.
Thanks guys. I bought one from ebay for $32 and shipping from nyc. Gonna give it a crack. Pun intended.

UPDATE!
I borked my phone. I tore off the the orange triangle shaped ribbon thing. Like the other guy did. (I think it's the guy from Brazil or something.)
One of these?

I had mine broken a couple weeks ago. I searched on Craigslist inside service for ppl that replaces screen and it costed me $95 to have the screen replaced with a brand new one original one and I can't tell that it was ever replaced. It took them 1hour from the time I dropped of to get the service done.

I ebay'ed that part before and thought I could buy that too, but I'm on the fence about going through repairs again. It looks easy enough to replace the orange triangle though.

Yesterday I cracked my phone screen when I dropped it. Not massively bothered given it's barely visible, and I'm not that impressed with the s3 generally anyway, BUT - do you think the screen is now MORE fragile with the crack if I were to drop it again, or LESS as with a crack there is now less tension on the glass?
I don't know but I wouldn't recommend you find out.

Yep spot on.
I would say more fragile. Its like a plastic bag, once you start a rip its very easy to continue it without sizzors and it rips clean, just get a good case or try your best not to be clumsy

What's the point if paying monthly insurance charges if you don't use you insurance when you damage your phone ?
Just wanted to know how much I can sell it for to get closer to the cost of getting the note II. How much would you guys sell it for. Its just the glass cracked everything else still works. Plus you can barely tell that its cracked besides the left side.

Screen repair is about $200 plus the hassle. So a note in good condition is about $300, I would pay $50 for it.
What he said^^
It's arm and a leg trying to replace just the glass and you risk damaging it even worse if you try it yourself with no experience. Not sure what a repair store would charge. But the assembly like stated above, is around $200. You can pick up a decent Note now for $200-250. I'd either keep it, or expect some extremely low offers. A cracked screen is a cracked screen regardless of how minute it may be.
Much to my surprise some kid offered me 185 fir my broken note so I just picked up the note 2 this morning! !!

I don't think insurance covers broken glass. I asked the guy at the AT&T repair center if insurance would have paid for my cracked glass and he said, "no".

that's why I didn't get the insurance, the only reason I'd get it is to get it replaced for free if I dropped it or somehow broke the screen...

So I've had my dna for a week and a half when my screen shattered. Ironically enough the screen protectors I ordered came in 5 minutes later. I've been scavenging the Web but can't find any replacement screens. Does anyone know if they plan to sell them in the future or is there no hope? You do not want to attempt this without an LCD. The digitizer and LCD are fused. Skytrade on Alibaba sells both separately for about $150 total at the time of this post.

he would only be able to return it to verizon if:
1. there was nothing wrong with it and he just changed his mind(within 14 days)
2. it was defective in some way out-of-the-box.
since there's damage to the phone, he wouldn't be able to take it back. it could only be replaced "damaged" through insurance.
Anyone tried this yet? My wife's DNA just broke as well and so far the cheapest place taking them in and repairing it would be $300... anything around 100- 150 and I would be intrigued to do it myself... apparently she is not happy with my old Droid X....go figure ...

I actually have a DNA taken apart at home right now and I'm waiting for a screen to come in. There are some companies on eBay that sell them from 130-200. Most of them ship from China so they will take a couple of weeks to get here, but its a lot cheaper then having HTC or Verizon do it. The instructions to take it apart on YouTube are where you'll want to start, and of you need the screen within a reasonable amount of time, then injured gadgets on eBay ships from the USA, but they are like 40 bucks more than the cheapest display. Just search "droid DNA assembly" on eBay and get whichever one you want.

Well I paid 134 for my screen, and haven't even used the phone yet. I got the parts from my step dad because his coworker dropped it and shattered the glass and LCD. Just had mine fixed last week. Screen/LCD/labor was $265 with 99 day warranty. First time the screen touched the LCD and the bottom lights didn't work. Took it back the next day and they fixed it. Bottom lights still aren't right, but the screen touch was fixed. When I took it in originally, they told me they wouldn't do just the digitizer. They had tried before and couldn't get it to sit/seal correctly. Good luck with your replacement screen, and let it's know how it turns out.

Yes, I have found the video on how to take it apart, even so the video I watched did not take the screen out. It seems in my case only the glass in the front of the phone is broken (since all functions on the phone still work and the LCD display looks okay) I have heard the the LCD and the digitizer are somehow heat fused together. Therefore the LCD with digitizer should be the way to go. But I have not pulled the trigger on the e-bay purchase. I'm very interested on how this goes for you.
By the way I can't get an insurance claim or phone the cheapest refurbished Verizon 4G phone would be $350 and they wouldn't even have the DNA as refurbished yet.
So I caught my dog chewing on my girlfriends evo this morning and he shattered the screen. Now it's pretty much unusable because he ruined the digitizer. What's the best way to go about getting this replaced or do we just have to pay the $150?

If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, keep an eye on Ebay for bad esn phones. All you have to do is swap the motherboards.
My girl dropped her phone and shattered the screen last week. I found a nearly mint condition, completely in tact phone (minus motherboard and cover that has the hex/dex numbers) for $85, free shipping. I ordered it last Thursday, and got it Monday afternoon.
You can buy just the digitizer for around $70, but there's a lot more effort in changing the digitizer versus just swapping motherboards.

Personally I would buy the digitizer and replace it. But that is because I don't have insurance on my phone! If it sounds scary tearing the phone apart just pay the $150(I thought it was 199). Next time make sure to put it in a heavy duty case and keep it in the holster at all times!

Or better yet, buy through Best Buy and get their warranty. Best $9.99/month I've ever spent. I got my EVO the day it became available and dropped it off the roof of my father's RV just under a month later. They replaced my phone with a brand new one even after I told them I dropped it about 12 feet flat on its screen. Best Buy has no deductible and don't care how it got damaged.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter case but at the height I was, I don't even think the defender case would have saved it.

Awesome looking dog, I have a malamute those colors (just with two brown eyes).
Just a little rant. I ordered the 6p and was planning on selling my 6 and paying off the balance I still owed to t mobile. Well for the first time in my life, I dropped my phone and broke the screen it's luckily just the glass and the touch still works fine. That sucks, Ive thankfully never broken a screen (knock on wood). Most Nexus phone sell well even with a broken screen but you likely won't get as much as you might hope. I sold my Zenfone 2 on swappa in less than 10 minutes after posting. They are pretty good compared to ebay and they only charge you a $5 fee per sale.

Really easy to do for the N6 but the glass and digitizer come glued together
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I bought my N6 in december last year, just before xmas. it fell out of my pocket several times over the first couple of days - was just too big - on the third day that i owned it it fell onto a tiled floor and the screen smashed. claimed on the insurance and never replaced it - just went back to my m8. i was pretty disappointed, cos i loved the screen on the 6, but the overall size of the device and my small pockets meant that we were never meant to be...
that said, i've ordered a 128gb graphite N6p, not sure why i am expecting a different outcome, but i just can't help myself when it comes to the latest nexus device!!
Attached a picture since it was requested.
I lost some chunks of glass today. Not sure where I lost them at
I'm trying not to spend any more money on this phone to fix things. I have insurance and I can claim it for $175, but I still owe like $350 and if I only sell the phone and get lets say $300, I'm still out $225. If I sell it broken and get $175, I'm only out $175.
I'll get my tempered glass screen protector tomorrow so hopefully that will keep the pieces in place until I get my 6P next month
Very bad luck, I recommend you get a case for the next phone. Phone insurance sucks my car has a lower deductible than that lol.
